My guess was that if Pakistan could not take any of NZ's wickets in the first session of the third day, then Pakistan would lose the match by an innings. And I told it before. What I thought happened. Pakistan lost not only by an innings, but they also lost by a huge margin of innings and 176 runs. This is their fourth defeat in terms of innings and huge runs. Their biggest defeat was against England, that was an inning and 225 runs.

This is a big defeat as by innings and 175 runs are huge in any given test match. What is more disappointing to watch is that Pakistan could not even end up making 200 runs or fell short by 100 runs from their own first innings. This just shows that they were not competent in the match and could even match their first innings total and when chasing a big trail you require somebody form the team to stay on the pitch for long hours and build innings. But did not find any batsman was in mood for a long innings and just gave up easily other than Azhar Ali who batted well in both innings.

I guess the term "Big 3" first came in to picture a decade or so ago, when the heads of BCCI/ECB/CA (N Srinivasan/Giles Clarke/Wally Edwards) formed a cartel to monopolize cricketing revenues. It had nothing to do with the actual performance on the ground, but more to do with the money power.

You need to accept the fact that BCCI generate more money than any other board and hence they are elevated alongside ECB and CA , ECB was having complete control over ICC for a long time and then CA was able to become the power house because of their history during the formation and the biggest looser is South Africa who took the initiative in the beginning to form and unified body and they generate the most income after India.

What i am trying to tell is, CA and ECB has some power irrespective of the money they generate compared to the other cricket boards .

Not a good sign for test cricket. Even test matches involving teams outside the big 3 are getting lop-sided now. South Africa literally destroyed Sri Lanka. But this same South Africa will lose by a big margin, if they play against any of the big 3 teams. I am gradually losing my interest in test cricket. What is the point in watching such one sided matches? Only the matches involving big 3 teams are interesting nowadays.

Those two team failed to produce good quality players in the last few years that is the reason why these teams are struggling now but its all part of their cricket journey. Soon these teams will find someone who can lift the confidence among the other players and that is why lot of domestic leagues were conducted all around the world.

I think Pakistan is still fine they just are not able to get a stable team but talking about Sri Lanka their future is absolutely disastorous. The problem with Sri Lanka is that there are no senior players in the team to guide the junior guys who are coming in. All the big guns vanished from the team all of a sudden. I think the 2011 World Cup Sri Lankan team was the last best team from Sri Lanka after the retirement of Sanga, Jayawardane, Murali and Dilshan the team can't even be compared to our India-A team. They have a pretty dark future lying ahead of them I feel soon Afghanistan(if they can part ways with terrorism and such conflicts) would become a better cricketing nation than Sri Lanka.

Lot of political issues are also one of the main reason why they can't be able to find the talented players. I will never agree with the smaller population means less talented people because talented people were refused to given chance for various reasons which is also exist in most of the cricket boards.

World cup team in 2011 was the best team for Sri Lanka and after that as well they had some good players still Sri Lankan cricket board dropped some of them after few failures.

We have the best footballers in Each and every street of Europe. It's not really about the population it's about how well the country publicizes sports in their country and how much they support their players. Moreover I have seen commercialization of sports also yields better players as money is the biggest motivating factor for everyone. I think the leagues around the world are the reason why West Indies and Bangladesh are getting good players too.

Pakistan has performed very poorly in the recent times while playing outside the subcontinent, so this defeat wasn't much of a surprise. It just confirms the elevation of New Zealand as one of the cricket superpowers. If any of the skeptics were still doubtful about New Zealand, even after they managed to finish as the runner ups during the 2019 World Cup, they will be silent now. It is no longer big3, but big 4 (big 3+ NZ).

New Zealand is improving a lot in cricket. They are learning from their past mistakes and correcting them. I am especially fascinated by watching their Test matches. They are very strong now in the test format. They have the ability to compete competitively against any team in the Big 3.

In the last 2 or 3 years, pakistan was on the losing side by biggest margin, saw some tweet yesterday which said pakistan was the opponent when team scored highest run in an innings on a test match. Is it actually true?

Pakistan's history is good with sports but current and future is not good enough because now all things not going on any planning or merit just politics and biased things happening which are killing beauty of game in last 3 years Pakistan dropping badly in ranking and in quality but no one doing any positive thing so they will go more down.

Wait, I agree that Pakistani sports history was good one but currently our team is facing a lot of issues probably don't have some good experienced persons in the cricket team but how you can say that future is not good. They will learn from their mistakes and will come out to be a better team. As always, they always are a threating team to all the countries  when it comes to world Cup and all big tournaments.

New Zealand is improving a lot in cricket. They are learning from their past mistakes and correcting them. I am especially fascinated by watching their Test matches. They are very strong now in the test format. They have the ability to compete competitively against any team in the Big 3.

They have a very strong team, with world class batsmen such as Kane Williamson and excellent pace bowling lineup including Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson, Lockie Ferguson, Tim Southee.etc. They have also benefited from South African players moving in to NZ (especially Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Devon Conway.etc). I would rather say that NZ is one of the strongest teams in test cricket.

I think he has doubts about the future of Pakistan cricket because of the corruption in the Pakistan Cricket Board. Their cricket board is much more corrupt. If the team management does not like a player, no matter how talented he is, he is not given a chance to play in the national team. We have seen such examples. If such corruption continues, the future of Pakistan will be really bleak.

Well.. then have a team coach from some foreign country such as Australia and give him the responsibility of team selection. That should end the controversy surrounding bias and favoritism in selection. But this is not unusual for sub-continent teams. Even in India, sometimes the selection of certain players can be controversial. Whatever controversy is there, it should not impact the team bonding.

Umer bhai you are very furious person just try to understand things and ground realities now Pakistani sports is really in bad shape because corruption is one off biggest issue and we have no policy about any thing even when we have new Prime Minister who is former Captain of Pakistan cricket team I was feeling this will bring some better changes but nothing happening even we are going down because most of peoples coming on just because of personal links no merit nothing specialty so its not good its more worst happening around us for some long time.

We don't know if he has taken any action. But so far I have not seen any improvement in Pakistan's game. On the contrary, they are declining day by day. At the moment all forms of corruption must be stopped from the board of Pakistan. Then it is hoped that in the next few years the Pakistan team will regain its reputation.

You are blaming the decline of Pakistani cricket on the administration. IMO, it is not that easy. Management is not the only reason why the performance is going down. I had already pointed out other factors in my previous posts. The poor quality of domestic cricket and lack of proper cricketing infrastructure are some of the reasons. The Pakistani first class cricket still remains in a very bad state. Unless the quality of domestic cricket is improved, I don't expect any miracles in the long term.

Rain stopped the play too early, don't know how this day is going to be because the clouds are still dark so possible for more drizzle in Sydney. Warner came back after a break and threw his wicket too early to Siraj. Good start for India hope they will continue the things as of now if the game resumes.

Lunch has been taking earlier and the extra 30 minutes will be rewarded before the end of the day if there is any gameplay left for today. As of now, the weather is still the same and it's raining so even if the rain stops now it will take an hour before the match resumes. OZ has great records against India on this ground but it is not the real issue now, if we can see the full game lay for the remaining days then results can be achieved for sure.

Frustrating day for everyone. Just 7 overs of play possible till now and once again Australia looks to be in trouble. No one really expected India to win a single match in this series, but now a series win looks like a real possibility. With Steve Smith out of form, all eyes will be on Marnus Labuschagne to help Australia to a total above 300. But the initial trends doesn't look good for Australia.

Just ridiculous. Australia at 31/1 and they have lost one of their top batsman. And Google predictor claims that there is a 60% chance for Australian win? Either they are not going by the real-time score, or they are giving too much advantage to Australia on the basis of toss and home advantage. The momentum is with India and they have the advantage after Warner got out.

His test career is on the line here, so far he batted in favorable conditions and positions. Opening in this test would be his first challenge and he can't ask for better condition to bat on, this is good pitch for batters.

Finally Australia is able to create a good partnership and shout outs to Rishabh Pant from the entire Australian cricket fans for helping them by dropping catches  . Will Pucovski finally made his debut and hopefully he will convert to a big century and hopefully Steve Smith returns to form and score big. After such a horrible start, Australia managed to reach 166/2. I wasn't impressed with his performance during the warmup matches, but today he handled the Indian bowlers really well (aided by some poor fielding from the other side). Now it is up to the top Australian partnership of Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Tomorrow we will get an idea about which way this match is going to swing.
