It's a 1-0 series lead for the West Indies! This is just a normal display of Bangladesh losing match after match in test cricket. Likewise, past tests are always just study tours for tigers. They'll learn and try not to repeat them in the future. The bowling side of their team was awesome despite their pathetic batting. It is also important to consider the skills of the batters. In order to improve mental strength, some meditation is needed to improve fielding skills.

If teams like Bangladesh are given full test status then teams like Afghanistan and Ireland should also be given test status. I am sure they will improve with time given to Bangladesh. There bowling was good as they manage to get West Indies out on 265 runs after there first inning of 103 runs. Batting is main area where Bangladesh need to focus.

The match was over for Bangladesh after they failed miserably in there first innings. Its very difficult to make a come back once you are out on 103 runs. West Indies is not very strong test team these days but still Bangladesh failed to perform good against them. Don't know when we start seeing improvement in Bangladesh test performance.

Bangladesh does have a solid team if they are playing at home but while touring they seems to struggle and if they won the toss then i believe that the situation would have been different considering how West Indies struggles in the longer format against quality bowling. It was an easy win for West Indies in the first Test but i expect Bangladesh to bounce back and perform better in the later part of the series.

If Bangladesh wants to perform well in Test format then they have to improve on some small issues. First, players must be patient. No matter how talented a player is, if he is not patient, it is not possible for him to perform well in Test format. Second, the fielding needs to be improved. Missing a catch in a Test match can have a devastating effect. Third, top-order batsmen need to be responsible. If the top order players get out quickly, it becomes very difficult to collect high scores in the match.

I don't know anything about associate nations funding so i won't comment on that.

Anyway new ICC chief and many others already said that no one expecting Test cricket to expand to associates nation because it's not practical.

Let's see what happens in next 10-20 years.

LOL.. test cricket expanding to associate nations? The ICC cancelled the 4-day intercontinental cup competition many years ago. And even in second tier test nations such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh test cricket is becoming irrelevant. Initially I thought that creating three divisions of test cricket will make it more competitive. But we have seen how badly the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh went, and both these teams will be in the same division even if some re-organization of test cricket takes place.

The lack of competitiveness in test format is a big issue. On one side we have matches which are played in the sub-continent on flat tracks, ending as boring draws. On the other hand, we have lop-sided matches involving lower ranking teams such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. If the fans want to avoid test cricket, how can we blame them? They are perfectly justified. Personally I don't usually watch test cricket, unless it involves pig-4 nations playing against each other. All that said, when is the next Ashes series going to start?

We have BGT first (Around feb-March 2023) then Ashes in England (August, may be). My top 3 series...

-Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India. Australia lose most of the time but its always very competitive series. OZ keep Indian team on toes throughout the series which i hardly see from any other team.
- Ashes in England provides non-stop entertainment due to volatile conditions (even Eng vs Ind). Ashes in Australia is waste of time because it always end up as one-sided affair.
- Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Last 2 series were top notch, especially last one.

Rest of the tests, well lots of if, buts and ehh..

The Trans-Tasman Trophy is another enjoyable test series, partly due to all the bad blood which exists between both the sides that take part in it. But the undisputed champion is India vs Pakistan test series, which in all probability will not take place for the next two decades.

Also many fans are not used to T20 on one day matches.

Nothing comes before the Indian vs Pakistan series on any format. The amount of enthusiasm and uncertainty that comes on my mind by just imagining a game between the two arch rival is unimaginable. The only hope now left to watch these two countries play will be in an ICC trophy.

Such a series would bring windfall in revenues for both the BCCI and PCB. But the problem here is that the BCCI is awash with cash after the auction of the IPL media rights, and they are not really concerned about any shortfall arising as a result of the India vs Pakistan series not happening. As things stand, the PCB will be more concerned about the series when compared to the BCCI. I sincerely hope that all the politics will be set aside some time in the future and the series will go ahead. That needs moderation from both the sides.

While the Pakistan board is keen to play this series, I am not sure if BCCI will be interested in hosting this series.

Lol sorry didi but this one cracked me up  as i've never heard anyone saying this about Trans-Tasman trophy. It's good for Kiwis bashing from OZ point of view but not exciting to watch, individual contests are exceptional tho. The way i see it NZ is Australia's SL (similar to Ind-SL cricket relationship)

@JSRAW you’re correct but what do you think under Stokes and their new coach leadership will England be able to change their performances in Ashes?, and I know that there’s yet time but the initial signs do look promising. Lastly politics aside India should play test matches with Pakistan, because I remember that it was so much fun watching Sehwag score 300+ runs against Pakistan, and both sides are very strong now hence it’ll be really memorable to watch them play against each other.

They are already competitive in Ashes when they play at home and i do see some possibility of England as a unit performing good in the Australia due to these reasons.

-Stokes as skipper and BAZ (McCullum) as coach are advocating attacking cricket with the bat, which they were lacking. It's double edge sword tho, cause sometime they are going to fail but it's a positive step.

- I also feel that in next cycle OZ 2 main batters David Warner and Steve Smith are going to decline. Former is already showing sign of declining in whites and latter still making useful runs but at the same time he's also showing chink in his armor every now and then, i hope i'm wrong.

-Aussie do have Mighty Marnus but according to stats he basically got this status because of opposition shitty fielders. Adding good study case Labuschagne - lucky, and making the most of it. So he's also vulnerable.

BCCI having very good and luxurious media contracts is good, but it does not mean others are having nothing they are also improving quality and other facilities which are working for them, and they are also having some good media rights for PSL which is now giving good profit to franchise and PCB.

Even facing some issues which need some time to settle, but surely things could be in positive way for them and their game with recent Australian tour now England is also on way for tour after T-20 world cup surely it's going to be big change for them in domestic and International market.

Cricket in south asia is lottery - players are champion for life and they are recognized and admired throughout their lives.

You cannot compare BCCI to any other boards. Every board is doing something good for its players and it's staff but what BCCI is doing is beyond the expectations and reach of other boards. You cannot ignore BCCI when you are discussing about cricket as they are to an extent controlling the ICC. None of the other cricket board have that kind of power or money at the moment.

You cannot ignore BCCI when you are discussing about cricket as they are to an extent controlling the ICC. None of the other cricket board have that kind of power or money at the moment.

I agree. The BCCI is light years ahead of PCB in terms of monetary power and influence. They were already rich, and then the IPL just changed everything. Now probably the BCCI is richer than all the other boards combined. The total ICC budget for the period for 2015-23 (8 years) was $1.642 billion. On the other hand, the 5-year media rights for IPL was sold for $6.2 billion. And for most of the countries, the funding from the ICC represents most of their revenues. The PCB receives a total of $128 million for the 8-year period from the ICC.
