I had some hope of SL pulling this off but on 5th day pitch, not 4th day.

I wasn't expecting Aussie to collapse that badly because of Marnus and Smith but everything went down the drain in 2nd inning.

This kind of series tells us that it's hard to win the away series when you are playing in alien conditions. Doesn't matter if it's No 1 team vs No 7. Having said that 2 match series doesn't tell us much about both teams, to judge completely we surely need at least 3 test match series. Pakistanis must be kicking themselves now, they could have beat Australia too if it wasn't for dead deck.

LOL.. Pakistani spinners are good for nothing and at no point during the tour did they troubled the Australian batsmen. And despite all the deterioration in quality of cricket in Sri Lanka, they do have some very good spinners such as Embuldeniya, Hasaranga and Prabath Jayasuriya. One point that we are ignoring is the failure from the Australian spinners. They allowed the Lankan batsmen to set up such a huge score, which put the Australian batsmen under immense pressure. Mitchell Swepson was OK, but Nathan Lyon was a complete failure (although he was exceptional in the first test).

I won't blame Pakistani spinners because they were playing on the road (In fact any bowler when pitch is completely dead), all criticism should be directed towards PCB and curators, they are the one sanctioned and prepare those pitches. For upcoming Sri Lanka series they do have Yasir Shah in the squad and Pak's batters are no mug against the spin, not best but they are still better positioned in comparison to Aussies.

I was never a big fan of Nathan Lyon. I found him to be quite ordinary. He will perform exceptionally once in a while, and that will guarantee his place for the next dozen matches. Don't know why the selectors still persist with him, rather than looking for some younger options. And in general the Australians don't give much chances to youngsters. Hardly anyone under 25 has made his debut in the last 2-3 years. Cameron Green is the only one who has a guaranteed spot in the XI. And I don't know when was the last time I saw Will Pucovski playing.

Only Ashwin-Nathan comes to my mind.

Australia don't have his replacement and he does the job for them that's why he keep getting chances. Once a while they do introduce new spinner in subcontinent but they get dropped when playing at home due to performance. Pucovski is most injury prone cricketer after Nehra ji, poor guy keep getting hit on head by bowlers and taking break.

@Visnu.Reang Srilanka deserves this victory as their player’s showed that with sheer determination one can defeat the mighty Australia, and secondly I feel that the recent events that have been taking place might have given them the extra motivation that they needed for this victory. Lastly I believe that Australian player’s will learn from this experience, and perform better against the spinners because it’s clear that they underestimated the spinners and paid the price for it.

The Sri Lankan team was inexperienced. So before the series started my guess was that Australia would easily win in every format. But Australia has disappointed me. And has consistently performed poorly in all matches. No player of the team is able to perform well on a regular basis. Australia need a regular scorer at the moment. Otherwise, we will not see a better performance from Australia in the next World Cup. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t even qualify for the semi-finals.

I think it is better to say that Sri Lanka absolutely outplayed Australia in this test match. This is because if we say Australia just had a bad day it is not going to be fair for Sri Lanka.

Can't be sure about it. The pitches in Pakistan were really flat. If they were more supportive, then there would have been a repeat of what happened in the second test. The big issue is that Australian batsmen nowadays don't have the necessary skills to deal with spin bowling. The main reason for that is the lack of quality spinners playing in Australian domestic cricket. There are a few spin-friendly pitches there, but the only instance the batsmen face quality spin is when they tour the sub-continental countries.

Subcontinent is never been good place for these Aussies, but their recent success against Pakistan give them good practice and hope for another win but sadly in fourth day of second test match they have one of the biggest batting collapse, and they fail to give any resistance which give them one off the worst defeat against inexperienced Sri Lankan side.

But, now this could be big lesson for them before coming to India for their next subcontinent tour which is surely a big challenge for both teams as both are fighting for place into WTC final in 2023.

In this inning we have completely failure of all top order batsmen which are ruling the rankings have no reply from a debutant bowler which was surely a big question mark for them, and they need to check this weakness as well in near future.

^^^ This vulnerability against subcontinent pitches is something new. Australia used to perform much better in such conditions. Maybe nowadays most of their players give preference to T20, and that is the reason why they are unable to perform under such tracks. Only Smith, Labuschagne and Starc are now giving first preference to Test cricket. But their batting collapse against a rookie spinner who was playing his first test match is inexcusable. Australians need to do their homework before visiting South Asia.

Pakistan is ofcourse a better test team than Srilanka and they can play spin well than Australia. It would be interesting to watch what strategy will the Srilankan side apply gainst the Pakistani team.

After watching Sri Lanka's performance against Australia, there is no way to call the Sri Lankan team weak. But I think the Pakistan team is the favorite in this series. But Pakistan has some weaknesses. Their bowling line-up is strong, but the batting line-up depends on the performance of certain players. The performances of Pakistan has depended on Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam and Imam-Ul-Haque. And so if the Sri Lankan bowlers can bowl well against these three batsmen then they can expect good results.

Confidence is very necessary to fight against strong opponents. On the other hand, it is their home match. They are very well aware of the behavior of their pitch. And they will build the pitch just to their advantage. And so it will be very difficult for Pakistan to win this series.

I wouldn’t say that Nathan Lyon is an outstanding performer, rather, I will say that he is a consistent performer who can perform really outstanding from time to time. And that does seem to solidify his place in the team.

I have to say I don’t remember when I saw a young player from Australia, making headlines after his debut.

In test cricket, I haven’t seen any young Australian players for quite some time I think. Whenever there is a test match for Australia, we like to watch Nathan Lyon play because he is a reliable bowler.

Yes, players can have a bad day, but that does not mean they are not talented players.

I wouldn’t say that Nathan Lyon is an outstanding performer, rather, I will say that he is a consistent performer who can perform really outstanding from time to time. And that does seem to solidify his place in the team.

I have to say I don’t remember when I saw a young player from Australia, making headlines after his debut.

In test cricket, I haven’t seen any young Australian players for quite some time I think. Whenever there is a test match for Australia, we like to watch Nathan Lyon play because he is a reliable bowler.

Yes, players can have a bad day, but that does not mean they are not talented players.

He's also comes in top 10 list of most wicket takers in test history. Only 4 spinners are there as of now Murli, Warne, Ashwin and Lyon so this should count for something. Last 2 are still active so i would say Lyon is definitely good and doing job for the Aussie. Yeah sometimes he looks flat af but it happens with every bowler. 

Pucovski and Green are there tho.

Sri Lankan spinners are in excellent form, and it is going to be a tough tour for Pakistan. They have players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who are good players of spin, but then the middle order looks very brittle. And I don't know how the Pakistani pacers will perform under conditions that doesn't offer much support for them. Shaheen Shah Afridi and other pacers need to adjust to unfriendly conditions. Because, as of now Pakistan is more dependent on pace bowling and doesn't have any experienced spinners with them.

As I check in first tour match they performed good, and their batting was also in good shape which is good signal surely it's going to be interesting series for all viewers because both teams are balances and have few very exciting youngsters those are trying to have better position in team after end of this series.
