Shardul Thakur took away the limelight from Rohit & Gill in yesterdays match. He just missed the hattrick but came back strongly again in the next over. Kuldeep Yadav again proved that he has the ability to break partnership. Both bowlers took 3 wicket each. With this win India are now the number 1 team in ODI cricket ranking. They were already the number 1 team in T20 ranking but are number 2 in test cricket. If the are able to win the BGT then the test ranking will also improve.

ICC ODI World Cup is scheduled for 2023, and not 2024. But I am not sure whether India will be able to perform well in this tournament. The last time India managed to win a world cup was in 2011, when MSD was the captain. Winning these meaningless bilaterals won't take much effort. But the Indians always struggle in ICC tournaments, especially against teams such as Australia and England. Will they be able to lift the trophy after a 12-year wait? This time the format is different BTW. There will be only one group, and each team will play the other 9 times before proceeding to the semi-finals.

I was expecting a target of 400+ when I saw both the Indian opening pair hammering the Kiwi bowlers. As usual the Indian middle order and to an extent the lower middle order again failed to utilize the start given by the openers. Only because of Hardik & Thakur that India was able to give a target of 389 runs. Again disappointed by the performance of Kiwi bowlers.

The score was predicted to go above 400 runs based on the performance at the first 25 overs. Further the scoring took place with wickets falling at regular time interval. Everyone contributed to the match scoring two digit runs. It was Bracewell who gave the break, if not the match could've seen 400+ runs. This is nothing disappointing, same seems to be the condition of Indian bowlers as the pitch favours batting.

A score is expected, yes. As a result of everyone's contribution to the match, India finished the match with a large total. Although 385 is still huge, it seems like there are fewer than usual. After combining India's performances in the first 25 overs, we all predicted 400+ runs. India is expected to make at least 450 runs with 212 opening partnership in 26 overs. Despite this, this ground has the highest one innings total with in India. As the pitch is notorious for cracking for batsmen, and NZ are known for having power hitters, it will be interesting to see how they approach the match.

385 runs is a huge run.  This run is never covered by New Zealand in any way. India will win today's match and by a very good margin. Rohit Sarma and G.gill both scored a great run and both scored 100+ runs. New Zealand scored 68 runs in 9 overs but lost 1 wicket in the process. Winning bilateral series in limited-overs cricket/white ball cricket is good but not a big achievement. In modern cricket, it's considered a path that leads to WC, if you fail there then your achievements in bilateral as a team don't matter.

Also, IMHO calling Indian team king of the cricket game would be an injustice to England team (Current WC in ODI and T-20)

I have seen one problem with New Zealand in this series and that is whenever the target is very big, they do not seem to be able to keep wickets in hand. Just like in this match, there was a huge target. And New Zealand was doing very well to go along by keeping in touch with the run rate. But they were not able to keep wickets in hand. I honestly thought that some unfortunate things happened to them. Losing the first wicket on the second ball of the innings was the first problem. And the problem is they had a few big partnerships here and there. But it was not consistent. With wickets in hand, they should have obviously won the match.

India is looking like a superpower in cricket right now. I am certain that in the upcoming ODI world cup, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

If you see batting of India then two times they bat first and both times they score over 350 while one they bowl first they have bowled out New zealand at 108. Coming ODI world cup is also in india and if India maintain this form then surely they will be winner.

Well, king or not, India is certainly doing well. But it is also true that they are going to face some competition from England and Australia mostly. But this year India has shown some really good performances against quite good opponents. I am not going to say something extravagant like India is the king or something. But they are certainly one of the best competitors to win the world cup this year.

And winning an international series is still an achievement in my opinion. For the smaller countries at least. But for India, I guess not so much.

Well, king or not, India is certainly doing well. But it is also true that they are going to face some competition from England and Australia mostly. India's reputation in the game of cricket has been around for a long time.  But this year everyone is impressed with their performance and through this their reputation is increasing even more. I am not an Indian citizen but I support India a lot because I like their game very much. Although India did not do very well in other sports but one cricket made India famous to the whole world
