Pakistan played well in this match. And I really believe that New Zealand was unable to put on a good total. New Zealand actually lost wickets at regular intervals. And that is why they were unable to put a good and big total on the scoreboard.

Pakistan bowled the first two overs with immense accuracy but then when Finn Allen started counter attacking they started spraying the ball and luckily for Pakistan Agha Salman took a splendid catch to dismiss Finn Allen if not he would have taken the match away within the first 10 overs. New Zealand still have a good batting line up and i am expecting a good match.

Pakistan is surely superior in white ball format and having good record against New Zealand as well which helps them for having good result in this match as well while the toss won by Pakistan and decided to bowl first was good decision by Pakistan team because this helps them for having good wining target from New Zealand which is playing an ODI series after very long time in Pakistan.

New Zealand start was not good as lost first wicket of the Conway and then having few quick wickets as well even few good shots were played by lower middle order batsmen for the home team, but Pakistan batting was also good after having impressive bowling by their top bowlers. Pakistan bringing few youngsters as well which are increasing their white ball pool for the world cup even right now situation is surely not clear about many things.

Pakistan won the match though. But still I am not happy with their performance. The main weakness of the Pakistan team was the erratic performance of their batsmen. Pakistan team players cannot consistently perform well. And more importantly, they depend on the performance of two particular batsmen. Pakistan won today's match very easily. But they won because of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan's good batting. They are still overly dependent on the performances of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. They should definitely reduce this dependency.

Except for Haris Rouf, every bowler in Pakistan bowled brilliantly today. They played very well. I would especially appreciate Naseem Shah's performance. I would say Naseem Shah is the main hero behind Pakistan's match win. He managed to take 5 wickets. Naseem Shah brought back talented batsmen like Conway, Phillips and Santner in the dressing room. Naseem Shah made a marvelous performance. It is to be noted that Usama Mir, debutant took the wicket of Kane Williamson as his maiden ODI wicket which is very important for the score not move close to 300 runs. Next wicket is Tom Latham. He had been leading the team towards a good score and he was among the top scorer for New Zealand. According to me Usama Mir is a important person in today's win.

Pakistan VS Newzealand

Pakistan completely dominating the match. Exceptional bowling by Naseem Shah who took 5 wickets and most of them were of important batters. Newzealand bowling was not that good and it was an easy target to chase for Pakistani batters.

India VS Srilanka

The first ODI between these two teams will be played today. SKY will not be part of the ODI squad and Bhumrah is again out. Veterans are back in the team and it would be interesting to see how they bat on their home ground. Expecting a close match between these two teams today.

I am having serious doubts regarding the future of Jasprit Bumrah. He is just 29 years old, but hasn't played top level cricket for quite some time due to injury issues. And now newer bowlers such as Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik has taken over his position in the playing XI. Even if he recovers completely from the injury, it will be difficult for him to get back to the playing XI. At this point, there is a lot of competition for the slots in playing XI, with Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj being the preferred contenders as pacers.

It is just the stiffness of the back that he complained about and the team management did not wanted to take any risk therefore he has been dropped. Hopefully he will undertake steps to reduce the workload. The most suitable format for him would be test, but nowadays no one prefers this format since money is not there. And I am afraid that the IPL 2023 will just exacerbate his injury troubles.

This is true that players do take unnecessary breaks from bilaterals so they can be fresh for IPL but at the same BCCI plan countless useless bilaterals and for players who play all 3 formats, it's a ridiculous schedule.

BCCI tried to resolve this issue in their recent meeting by giving players the choice of skipping IPL, in case they complain about breaks, schedules etc. In the long run, this move could encourage players to choose 2 formats, which is good. If players are playing in IPL then they can't complain about bilateral, rest etc and they have to be available for selection for the national team.

As such, the IPL only allots 14 matches per team in a season (a few more in case they qualify for the knockout stage). So a maximum of 56 overs will be bowled by Bumrah in case he plays all the 14 matches for Mumbai Indians. And that too over a period of 2.5 to 3 months. He may bowl that many overs in a single match, if he takes part in test cricket. So on paper it may sound that the work load in IPL is manageable. But things are not as simple as they sound. For every 4 overs being bowled in an IPL match, Bumrah may practice for 20x of that (80 overs). There is a good gap between IPL matches for each team. And this is what results in a multitude of injuries for many players immediately after the IPL season.
