Looks like people are not happy with the trade of CJ Perez to the SMB.
Whether you are a SMB fan or not, you know that this trade is very unfair and the reason of DYIP management isn't enough to justify their actions.

A star player in the future being traded with an exchange of 3 bench players and one draft pick?? I don't see the "real" reason behind this. Maybe the DYIP management wanted to free some salary because Perez' salary is quite high already for them and they want to have rookies that obviously have a lower salary.

I'm an SMB fan and I will be but this trade is unfair. Pick one of their star players too and add Pessumal at least then it will be a fair trade.

Pessumal is not a star of the team.. unfortunately big teams can get what they want because they have a high salary cap and they can offer great salary to their players, and of course players could likely get a bonus or incentives as they have a chance of getting into the finals and win.

Looks like people are not happy with the trade of CJ Perez to the SMB.

What they see is that SMB is trying to form a super super team, they are already the favorites to win the championship because they have JMF but they still keep filling the team with talented players. They will get CJ in exchanges of bench players, that's too much to see because Terrafirma will become a very weak team as we don't know if that first pick rookie would be as good as CJ Perez.

And in relation to this news, Yeng Guiao tells PBA in wake of Perez trade: 'Listen to the fans'

Superteam within the lineup that they've got before CJ, SMB always wanted to make sure that they've got the big edge over the other franchise inside this league.

It's tough to resist since the offers that tey've got really allure players, with what Terrafirma will got, nothing compares to how CJ
contribute to this team.

It should be taken seriously by the league adminstrator, fans of SMB may love this trade but
it's not only SMB corporation but there are also different teams that will be affected of this move.

When Romeo was traded to SMB, people reacted because SMB gets a superstar from Northport, now they get a superstar from DYIP,  so I think the league does not care about that, SMB will keep manipulating this league and they will get the best players. IMO, it's best if there will be more teams that will enter and owners should only be limited with one team for less control and manipulation.

Salaries should not be part of the discussion here. It's not a problem if CJ got a special offer from SMB. It's personal stuff. There is no problem if teams want to get stronger but the recent CJ Perez trade isn't fair no matter how you looked at it.

The subject of the majority's concern is those players involved in the trade. CJ can be traded but DYIP should get good role players in return. If they want to rebuild, they can demand role players as CJ is a big fish. But they end up accepting those bench players and that was the issue insisting it's a fair trade.

Romeo was acquired from TnT bro, he was transferred from Northport to Tropang Texters before he was traded to SMB, I was thinking that Talk n' text is forming a super team back then.

Or, they see that Castro is not getting any younger that's why they acquire Romeo, it was a conroversial news back then when Texters decided to let him go in exchange with herueala and semerald, as per contract, he was paid smaller thatn it should be, but who knows
what are inside the deal.

Even if salary is not part of the discussion, we can't rule out that fact that the player might have seen a good offer than what they already have. I do agree it is an unfair trade but what can we do, SMB has been creating a super team ever since and they have the money at their disposal to do it.

Maybe they know better,  or maybe CJ Perez have ask for this trade, we really never know what's happening inside but if the both teams are insisting it's a fair trade, then we as a fan can't do anything to change their decision.

With the rants of netizens on social media, my source have told me (joke) that the commissioner's office have disapproved the proposed trade and it is up for revision at the moment. One of the death five of SMB might be included in the trade aside from Santos and Fajardo.

This only mean that fans of the PBA have influenced the decision of the rejection of this trade.

Coach Leo Austria is very vocal and said that this is a fair trade which i think is not even though i am just an ordinary fan of basketball.

This trade proposal is not about the players involved but it is a battle between the management of SMC and MVP companies on who is powerful in the PBA., just my thought.

I don't think Perez ask for this trade since SMB got a reputation to get a huge star which can help their campaign to win the championship also fans can voice out on social media about their dismay about this trade since the original player in exchange to Perez is a trash and I think they revise their trade offer and want to add a valuable asset in this trade talks.

I'm just saying about the possibilities because we really never know.. Well, we know the reputation of the SMB, they can get whatever they want so now they are getting Perez who is one of the best players in the PBA.

With the rants of netizens on social media, my source have told me (joke) that the commissioner's office have disapproved the proposed trade and it is up for revision at the moment. One of the death five of SMB might be included in the trade aside from Santos and Fajardo.

If this rumor is true then good, but I really think the trade will push through, whatever the fans will say, they'll just forget it overtime and begin the appreciate the SMB again.

Another PBA veteran has retired.

Consummate TNT veteran Harvey Carey calls it a career
Quote
The soft-spoken Fil-Am was after all, a humble consummate teammate who was contented doing the blue-collar work in all of his 17-year playing career spent with the TNT franchise.

How many players have retired already? I can't remember anymore but it seems that what we saw was the effect of the pandemic.

These players are aging and already playing with fewer minutes on the court. They are just mostly on the bench.

Harvey Carey also can't able to keep up with today's game. I can't see pandemic as one of the reasons why he retired as he even plays on the bubble.

The trade is already approved as posted in some social media sites but no official confirmation yet on the PBA.
Quote
THE PBA Commissioner's Office has approved the trade between Terrafirma and San Miguel Beer that involves six players on Tuesday.
The Dyip has decided to part ways with superstar forward CJ Perez, who is headed for the San Miguel Beer camp after two seasons with Terrafirma.
As part of the deal, the Beermen will send big man Russel Escoto, guard Gelo Alolino and forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser to the Dyip in exchange for the 2019 Rookie of the Year.
SMB has also included in the package its two first round picks in the 2020 (46th Season) and 2022 (48th Season) PBA Draft.

The only revision that i have noticed is that "two first round picks" instead of one in the original proposition.

I don't know with you guys but i think CJ Perez will only benefit the money but in terms of playing time, this will greatly reduce as he won't be the star player anymore once he used to.

Age is the main reason they are retiring and there are many good young players coming into the league and they want to give their spot to others.
I don't see pandemic as a reason of their retirement. IIRC only him is announcing his retirement. Pingris wants to play one more season too.

The only revision that i have noticed is that "two first round picks" instead of one in the original proposition.

Coach Austria said already in one of the interviews that the core players of the SMB roster is aging and they need younger players like him. I don't think that his playing time will reduce because he is surrounded with all star players but it will be the complete opposite. More playing time with him and lesser time with the other star players. After all like I said they are aging already and possible that in 2-3 years time they will retire too. SMB needs younger players now and Perez is one of them.

Core players' time will reduce and Perez playing time will be the same or will increase Wink.

Unfortunately the trade has been done and the players involve has not change but SMB add another future picks, seems the rants of the fans didn't win since SMB still win on the trade without letting go any of their star players. And this is so boring to watch now since the result by now is quite predictable.

He's aging and with he's position there are lots of young players who can take over, time to move forward as the type of game plays currently is more on offensive competition.

Players who are still young recieve great offers while aging players needs to accept that thier time has passed and they needed to
let newcomers to play with this generation,.

Good luck to him and to whatever future career he may choose, he deserves a good farewell recognition from Batang Texters.

We still have old veterans left in the PBA, if I'm not wrong, we still have the following players.

1- Mark Caguioa  of Ginebra San Miguel (41 years old)
2- Rafi Reavis of Magnolia Hotshots ( 43 years old)
3- Reynel Hugnatan of Meralco Bolts (42 years old)

One of the best players that is very underrated. I remember him when I was still young watching PBA in 2005s I guess. A very good tandem with Alapag and one of the most versatile in TNT.

Peter June Simon also retired last year. I still consider him as a young player or it is just the time flies so fast.

These players have not thought of retiring yet, so we might see them in the upcoming seasons.
Rafi Reavis and Reynel Hugnatan are still very active as they are getting good minutes in a game, so I also like them to stay active.

News about Rafi Reavis (as you can see not interested yet in retiring)
