DONDON Hontiveros will be joining Phoenix Super LPG next month in his capacity as assistant coach of the squad.

Hontiveros confirmed that he is now part of the coaching staff of Topex Robinson and is set to come to Manila to take on the new role.

“I will be joining them March 8 once I get all the necessary documents for my travel,” said the 43-year-old Hontiveros, who is currently in Cebu.

Hontiveros will now be taking on a coaching role in the big leagues for the very first time after 20 years as a player in different leagues.

This is a great news and good for Manuel as they know each other back in Alaska days, the time when Alaska was a strong team.

That's awesome, Knowing the Cebuano hotshot he may bring good guidance for

Way back Hontiveros play both for SMB and Alaska with high IQ both inside and outside, also part of the National team, for sure his experienced adds up, sharing knowledge with the entire Phoenix squad.

Just need to jive things up and allow him to express his knowledge for the best interest of the team.

I think the C. Stand news will be big news to wait. if he will not SMB then I think the rumor is correct that he will be traded to Ginebra for Slaughter and I believe Slaughter already knows that and accepted it already, let's just what's going to happen as these are just rumors anyway.

Poor big guy if that's going to happen. But until it's final and it's on the news, we have to wait until it arrives the correct news. But these rumors sometimes if it's coming from a valid source or from someone who knows a lot in the PBA, it's likely an insider.

Literally a good news. Dondon is back in action but not inside the court anymore, he's a very good addition to the team in part of assisting and coaching.

I'm more excited how the team will improve their 3 point shooting as that is Dondon's specialty.

Kraken has been practicing already, that's what I read in the past so probably we will see him playing once the new season will open. With or without CJ with healthy Kraken SMB will continue to dominate the league, He still got the same support from the pillars of his team though they are not getting any younger but the teamworks/connections between each others are already established. Adding CJ, it will impact a lot as he can provide if there's someone who's having a bad night for them. Surely like what most are expecting if he start playing like how he played with DYIP, he's addition will bring more firepower for the Beermen.

Well, sometimes thoughts like I have said really comes into our minds. 

It's so early to speculate about what will be his retirement and what job he can land after that since he's still playing and healthy. I believe he still have so many years to play and maybe he will follow the foot tracks of asu taulava for having a long time career on PBA. Maybe your speculations here guys are right since he's experience and hustle could give a good contribution to the team will acquired his service.

Based on the article, Garcia was not really fired, I believe he is still part of the coaching staff but this changes was made since Garcia is working with the national team as part of the coaching staff and they don't want that distraction on their campaign this coming season.
