The next conference will start in April, ETA.

JuneMar needs at least a whole season or 12 months to recover as per his Doctor. It will be in February next year for the whole year.

We have seen him doing shooting practice last October so we can assume that on that 12 months period, it includes soft physical workouts. And with 4 1/2 months before the conference start, JuneMar will be physically fit to play in that season. Terrence Romeo's injust needs 6 to 8 weeks so by April, he is now again ready to play and will make SMB a team to beat again.

It's good to know that before the next season start this two superstars are  expected to join their team, with them SMB is more different they are much stronger. The franchise is more dangerous with Fajardo his dominance inside is very solid., and with TR7 to help him up outside they can break both side of the court.

Thank you for sharing this information, for sure SMB fans are really waiting see the team playing solid again.

This is a long wait, I can't believe we need to wait for at least 4 months to see a new conference in the PBA. It's good for Fajardo as he can use this time to get fully recovered so he will be 100% by the start of the new conference, but I'm just disappointed to wait this long to be honest.

Do you guys agree with what SMB Coach Leo Austria said in his recent interview?
https://cnnphilippines.com/sports/2020/12/14/June-Mar-Fajardo-Leo-Austria-ready-PBA-next-season-San-Miguel.html?fb

"Every tournament, every season, every conference, all teams are preparing to beat us but that's noticeable and I know the management will help us and find ways to improve our lineup."

First of all, obviously teams are preparing for any opponent, not just SMB. The goal is to win championship whoever the dominant team.

Second, they have so far the best lineup in the league during the past conferences. And he even said that, some of his players aren't 100% ready in the bubble.

What I'm trying to picture out here? Hehe, should be obvious.

Obvious indeed lol. Seems that you won't be surprised if Robert Bolick or CJ Perez will donned the Beermen jersey next season  Smiley.

Looks like coach Leo Austria is conditioning the mind of the people that they will be getting high caliber players to bolster their line-up and it had the blessing of the SMB management.

SMB is too greedy, the PBA should not tolerate this and should make a move to somehow balance the talent of each team.

You're right, it's favor Fajardo he can complete his recovery during this break. Unless another injury happened before the league start or during any practice most probably he'll be back in action and help SMB to reclaim their spot as top contender from each season around this league.

It's worth the wait if most the players not just with SMB will be present healhty in this following conference.

SMB will bounce back for sure, it was a disappointment that they lose against the Meralco despite having a twice to beat advantage and they didn't even played well, they were dominated by the Meralco Bolts in the 2 games they loss, the come back will be stronger as they will have a healthy Fajardo and probably Romeo too.

Your thoughts are close to being true with the rumors below.

Quote
A blockbuster trade in the works an SMC team will try to swap it's key piece in exchange for a farm team's main man.

Robert Bolick is one of NorthPort's main man so this could it. Chris Ross in exchange for Bolick, this could be the rumor.
SMB will be rebuilding and they will start with their backcourt as the dou of Ross and Cabagnot is getting old now.

You nailed it.

Others might think that there's no such thing as that but unfortunately, that's the politics inside the PBA so low-tier teams don't have any choice.

SMB will be rebuilding and they will start with their backcourt as the dou of Ross and Cabagnot is getting old now.

If the rumor is true, I hope the trade won't disappoint the involved SMB players.

Those "old players" that Coach Austria is referring are also the key to why SMB become dominant, of course with the help of JMF.

JMF should be blamed here as if he only plays, there's no such thing as rebuilding and their current rosters will still intact. Just kidding. Cheesy

Would you mind where you read this rumor? Social media?

Just also want to add one (came from a basketball social media group) wherein CJ Perez is also part of the trading rumor.

Have a good read here guys: https://www.manilatimes.net/2020/03/02/sports/columnists-sports/pba-trade-rumor-slaughtered-cj-perez-next/698691/

SMB can pay a tough caliber players so they will get those players no matter what people would say.
I think the decision of the PBA management in terms of the policies is not that transparent, I believe they can be influence by rich PBA owners.

If you look at the line of of SMB, all of the starters are all star players, while in the other teams, there are only 1 or 2, in the line up, so you can already tell which team are dominating in any conference. The richest teams in the PBA are owned by SMB and TNT, and their sister teams, so you know what to expect.

I think it's necessary to change the ruling and the board should not be influence by the team owner's.

just saying

This is going to be the next set up for the PBA.

https://pba.ph/news/next-up-is-closed-circuit-pba-tourney

AFTER a bubble tourney in Clark, next up could well be a closed-circuit concept to start PBA Season 46 in April.

Quote
"If vaccine is not yet available, we'll likely go for closed-circuit which we had implemented in our return to practices prior to the Clark bubble tourney," said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

"Closed-circuit concept is a lot more lenient, requiring home-venue-home scheme; not lockdown in one place for the entire delegation as what we did in Clark," Marcial explained.

The Clark bubble was a big success but entailed a huge amount (P65 million for two months and a half) and tremendous sacrifice and hard work from all involved.

Mental health is one issue in a bubble.

At least this one is better, they can go home with their family unlike the bubble where they will have to stay inside the place until the conference is over. This tells that people are now more discipline compared in the past, so hopefully it will be a successful one.

Good news.

Kai Sotto to play for Gilas in February window of Fiba qualifiers at Clark

Quote
KAI Sotto is set for his debut with the Gilas Pilipinas men's basketball team.

"I will be joining the national team," he said in a short video shown during the Fiba Smart Global Press Conference on Thursday. "I am excited. I hope we bring our best. Sobrang special nito para sa ating lahat."

It's his debut, what can we expect from him.

I just want to ask your opinion, Fajardo is the best player in the PBA but in FIBA he seemed not recognized, do you think Kai Sotto will bring our flag to success? and will he be more recognize?

Too early to tell but the way i see it, it's a hill climb for Kai Sotto to be effective in FIBA. To be effective he got to handle the ball like Andre Blatche did. I have pitied the kid as non-basketball people are hyping and putting pressures on the shoulder of Kai.

ATM, he need to add muscle but may jeopardized his mobility which is a very important asset on today's generation of bigs.

But Finally we will be able to see him in FIBA with other popular players in the Philippines.

Do you know the current line up of the FIBA? I think I read somewhere that most of the players are not coming from the PBA.

Kai is tall actually but as a center, he needs to be more physical inside, but to compare with Fajardo, I guess let's just witness on what his performance when he will play for the country.

But I know that as his age added, his body will grow and become more tough. As the new generation of Fiba players in Philippines, I think being dependent in Kai should be given. He has already an experience and training outside the country. For sure, his international experience will bring him more confident and improved his skills in basketball.

I think you are right, if the Philippines will face a team that is so physical like the Australia, he might have some trouble inside because most of the Gilas players are not tall and physical. However, I don't want to judge right away without seeing him play, he is training in the US so probably he has already improve as well. You know what I feel now, I'm just excited to see him play and just hope that we will see our expectation from him.

This is only a FIBA Asia, Philippines is very competitive and we would like to see the Gilas Pilipinas improve.

Same here. I just want him to play with the nationals and see how he improved after that training from US. This kid have a lots of room to improve since he's still young and he have all the opportunities, joining and representing the country is not knew to him but now he's going up to the next level of challenge.

Looking forward to see how the coaching staff will blend him up to the team, early to start practicing might
help the entire squad being familiar with each other helps a lot for sure.

No as a next JMF. He will instead become the next Greg Slaughter. Smiley

Let's accept the fact that Kai Sotto won't be tough anymore in terms of muscle fight on the inside area. His body won't become built of the likes of JMF. That's the disadvantage of a height within that level. It has a cost if he will shift into pure bulky. He can't do both at the same time.

What he needs to be is the likes of Yao Ming that focus on good shooting percentage instead of mostly battling inside as it will be an advantage for him with the lack of tall players in PBA, if ever he will be drafted in the league.

Kai Sotto will surely be drafted in the PBA if he would want to get drafted, but for now, he is chasing his biggest dreams which is to play in the biggest league in the world which is the NBA. Some are hyping him while some does not believe he can make it, it's a mix opinion but let's see how his journey will end up in the US because if he fail, there's still PBA that is willing to accept him.

100% agree with you, PBA is lacking of big man and any team could go after Kai Sotto.
With how hype he is, I'm afraid he would just land with the SMB team.

He was hoping though,

Kai Sotto hopes his G League stint will raise his ranking for the 2021 NBA Draft

If he will not get drafted in 2021, we might see him in the PBA.

Too early for that. Kai can adjust as he's age gives him the advantages. He won't need to be the next JMF or something, what is best is for him to fulfil his dream to become the first filipino pure blooded NBA player.

Seeing his improvements base from those vid clips, it's giving the fans an idea on how he'll contribute just enough space and exposures
for this kid plus support from his teammates.

Our country needs more young guns like him, Height and skills advantage in where we are lacking until today.
