Do you really think Kobe+Andre can lift a lower-tier team in the PBA? Kobe Paras will be eaten alive in the PBA. Smiley Paras brothers can't lift up a team by themselves. Even you put them on Terrafirma DYIP with CJ Perez, they will surely can't even pass in the quarterfinals.

We can't put a period on that statement dude unless proven. First of all, I will disregard Andre here because I really doubt his basketball ability, we all knew that he is more of an actor than a player (sorry my bad).

Okay, if Kobe teamed up with Perez I think it could work as long as they will not share in the same position because an imbalance might happen. But that's the problem actually Grin! They both play on the Small Forward position so what now? Hmm, for me the best thing they can do is to make an adjustment on Kobe's part since he is the taller one. I'm not saying that they can't be both aggressive, they can but much better if Perez will stand as a leader.

Before, that's my thinking. But after watching Kobe's performance since then, even after he trained for "several years" in the US to pursue his NBA career or professional career at any foreign league, the way he played, again, he will look like a normal player coming from a college draft when he enters the PBA.

He didn't even shine or become dominant in his UAAP days against "college players".

Anyway, my statement is because someone says that when Kobe+Andre joins a certain team, a lower-tier team in the PBA, the percentage of reaching the Finals do have a high chance which is highly I disagree. Too much hype just because they are Paras or because others just rely on the highlights. Maybe I will agree after 3-4 seasons on their PBA career.

Probably just hype, lower seed team has no chance to be in the Finals, unless they are own by a big company like the Cojuangco ang Pangilinan. Let's be honest here, PBA is being manipulated by the big businessman, they want their teams to be in the top, have you guys notice that teams enter in the Finals or even in the playoffs are teams acquired by these two.

I think it's time for the PBA to change the league, only one team for an owner would make the league more exciting and transparent.

Let other competitors enter in the league.

I'm not also expecting for this Paras brother to change a lower seed team if they will teamed-up "on their first season."

As also stated above, maybe 3 to 4 season as surely progress will be made. But for that to happen, that lower team should not just rely on Paras brothers but rather improve their lineup. Remember that Kobe Paras is having a problem in a Center or Power Forward position where he was assigned by the Gilas Head Coach as his expertise is in Small Forward Position. Looking at those lower seed teams in the PBA, the Paras brothers might probably end up in PF position due to their height.

Anyways, too early to discuss that possibility as the younger Paras didn't show any signs or even a small interest to join the biggest basketball league in the country. Andre Paras on the other hand, not that versatile compare to his brother but as soon as he progress, he will soon catch up with the PBA environment.

Even Coach Yeng believe that Dwight Ramos is PBA ready and i seldom noticed this coach praising a player, that's why i think that this kid is one of the future face in Philippine basketball as he can compete with other players on the backcourt internationally.
Never heard of Dwight but sort of familiar if I've heard his surname in some leagues before. But if it's coming from Coach Yeng and telling some good points about this kid, he might do something to pull this kid in PBA. At least by this time, we have some other youngsters that could potentially be the new breed of PBA professionals soon.

There will be a long adjustment for a team that will take the brothers. They have the name but we're unsure if they'll be performing well together. I only remember the Yap brothers to perform well in one team.

We already feel the influence of the media, when Paras is in the news, everyone reacts, so we are hyping them once again and for sure that would help them to be drafted in the PBA. Seeing brothers playing in one team, I think that's not good to witness, I'd rathe see them playing in different teams.

Imagine the publicity can bring with Andre for sure he's a good addition in terms of marketing in PBA if the older Paras will be added in the league. But we can't deny that he's good and there's a lot of room for development so hopefully he will get a best team which can help him develop more, imagine the last 23 rebounds he contribute for his last team in D-league? for sure if he will play something like that in PBA he will get a good future in the league.

I was looking of that 23 points but I could not find it, what game was that exactly? I'm not a fan of this kid so I don't follow his game. Just saw some of his highlights posted in youtube, this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhByMdyFiGQ) he hit 23 points but it's an old one, 2018 to be exact.

I feel regret that Kobe didn't pursue his career in the NBA. Sad

He tried but failed.

Japeth Aguilar and Ray Parks tried their luck in the NBA but they both failed, during that time, there are also a hype for them to be successful but it failed.
The competition is just really high in the US, so it's hard for a Filipino to enter in the NBA, but we don't loss hope, we will always support our very own.

Once there's a news that spread about pinoy players pursuing careers inside NBA, fans always support them, that's how Pilipino fans react as they know that the pride is for the whole country.

Those mentioned names got thier own opportunities but failed to materialized, their names are being hypes and hopes are their for them.

Now, it's Kai's terms and the same compassions that he's earning from the Pilipino fans, he still got the chance just need to try more harder to achieved this goal.

Everyone who tried to reach their dreams in the NBA has a chance, Kai is tall, he can play a center position which is in demand in the NBA, so I think he has a bigger chance compared to the Filipinos who previously tried and failed.

He is the first one as a center who aim for the NBA and he is a full blooded Filipino so everyone will be proud of he will achieve that big dreams of him. Actually it's not only for him but the entire nation is on support to him, so as a player, he should feel the support and not the pressure.

Nothing but to agree to your statement! Be proud to have this opportunity and not to pressure him while trying to reach his dreams pursuing to play inside the NBA.

Kai have it and he's close to his dreams as those who manages his career are also helping him to get more exposure and to be more ready.

He together with millions of pilipino fans are proud and keep on hoping for his success.

I'm one of those who support him on his dreams, if there's anything I can do for him to be successful in his pursuit to his NBA dream, I would.
The guy is young and has the determination, so I believe though it's hard but it's possible for him to get drafted.

Calvin Abueva is still playing with the Phoenix Fuel Masters in the next 3 years.

With an added motivation in his new max deal with the Fuel Masters, more can be expected from ‘The Beast,’ who, as it was, hardly lost a step even after a 16-month layoff with the way he played in the Philippine Cup bubble.

Calvin Abueva get's a max deal for 3 years, it's impressive and no only us were impressed but the management as well.
Well deserved for him as he was really playing hard during the PBA bubble.

Great news for the Fuel Master's fans, Abueva will stay and he might retire with this team.

I'm happy for his patience because despite the offer before from outside the league, he still chooses to play in the PBA, and his talent really prevail so he rewarded with a max contract. I read the news but it seems like the amount was not disclose, do you have an idea how much we are talking here?

It's not with patience but Calvin Abueva can't just accept those offers easily to play outside the country due to lots of problems he involved with the league and he wants to fix it as his priority before.

He is under contract with the FuelMasters so he can't just leave and say, I'm out as I want to play.

About the offer, it was Php 15 Million max contract for 3 years.

He deserve this contract. It is good that Phoenix fuel would take him on their team for at least 3 more years. And if Calvin contributes very well to them which will for surely gonna happen. They'll give him a possible extension but it will still depend on Calvin if there will be other offers for the team.
But for the mean time, he's locked on with the Fuel Masters and we're sure to see him again on the court. There will be no hindrances anymore unlike the bubble when he took time before he got in on that setup.

He deserve it. He contributed well from the bubble after his long rest away from the league. Now that he finally back and secured his paycheck.

Expect to see more action from him, just hope that he won't do the same problem way back, he should be more matured now and always anticipate possible sanctions.

In terms of playing, that max contract fits him as he always bringing  his best when he's inside
the court, looking forward for more improvement for the Fuel master this coming season.

This kind of contract makes a player to more even harder, and knowing Abueva who always brings a different kind of energy in the Floor, it's expected that he will still play the same level or even improve in the seasons to come.

Despite of the long lay off, the good thing is he showed he hasn't change, he played like an import, so now he got a good salary that every PBA players are expecting, so happy for him, hopefully we will see him healthy all the time so PBA will not be boring.

LOL! this is so true.

PBA yearender: Blackwater makes louder noise off court than in bubble conference

Still remember this one? The owner was telling that he will sell the team because the team got sanctioned for violating the practice protocol, and inside the bubble, Blackwater was struggling, they can't barely win a game, damn this man.  Grin

He deserved it indeed. He is the King FuelMaster, not Matthew Wright.

Remember the time before the incident with Jones, Phoenix is on the top four always and they struggle when Calvin Abueva was metted with that 16-month suspension. That alone, we can conclude that he is a very important piece of the puzzle for the FuelMaster. If they can get a player in the draft that can compliment the style of play of Abueva, Wright and Perkins then Phoenix is one of the team to beat next season.

Is that a max contract already, that 15M 3-year deal? If the maximum wage of a PBA player is 500K Php then it is 18M for 3 years. Correct me if i am wrong.

If PBA players' salaries are capped at P420,000 a month and the team salary cap is set at P50 million from P47M the previous season, bonuses given by ballclubs to players for won games cannot exceed P6,000 in the eliminations, P8,000 from the quarterfinals, and P10,000 for the finals.

I think that will give us an idea, so the salary is just very low compared to international league I guess. Making like 400k to 500k per month is very small if you are a superstar, I think Fajardo is making 500k per month, and I also think they will have big bonuses if their team wins.

The figures are good in terms of playing in the country. Not that low as joining the international league is not as easy and isn't a sustainable offer even a player is a superstar.

Calvin Abueva for example, if only don't have a problem in the league might take the offer to play abroad.

And you are right, there are bonuses, especially with SMC teams. A big bonus especially for a championship. Scottie Thompson gives us a clue about how much is it and he claimed the bonus alone can extend his Thompson’s Sports Hair Shop business into 3 to 4 franchises.
