Maybe he was being introduced by his brother itself as recommendation. And guess what, Japan teams can save more money if they will choose as a popular SouthEast Asian player in their respective country rather than picking foreign import players on the West. Also in terms of performance, PBA players is more skilled compare to Japan league so Kiefer is considered.

Since the contract is decent, Kiefer accepts it, who doesn't want that? I just hope he can fix those problems regarding his contract so he can play on Japan without problems left here in the PH.

Kiefer Ravena was a great player during his UAAP career but I see some slide on that when he enters PBA because that's a pro league already. Well its true that we are better than Japan based on the FIBA ranking but having an international exposure is a big thing for our local players. PBA should not be that strict and consider all the possible scenario, that contract can still be discussed especially if there's no competition right now in the Philippines.

They didn't build a strong rooster the same on what SMB group, but its understandle since SMB is rich organization so they can afford more expensive high caliber player to be part on their teams. But I do really hope that he will be approve to go in japan since it will showcase the filipino talent in basketball world if they provide good numbers to make their team win.

Lets see if PBA officials will not became a villain on Kiefer's dream to japan.

He is, I agree with that but he can still make some decent contribution for the team. I'm glad he is still playing and does not think of retiring like other veterans, a team like NLEX is struggling needs a veteran, and Fonacier should be vital for the team's success.

He can work it out since he does recieved decent compensation. Kiefer is still young and have a lots to offer, this exposures will lead him to more potentials, who knows what will happen after, he just need to work with his current team and complete their approval so he can fly to Japan and start his new career as Import.

Pinoy fans should take this as good opportunities for more pinoy players to compete outside the country, this two brothers open the doors for much bigger competitions to every pinoys.

Unfortunately he doesn't have clearance yet as commissioner said he have a contract tied with Nlex so for that Kiefer will have a problem regarding on his arrival on japan. Lets just see if they can settle this discussion once they talk indoor with Ravena and PBA officials.

I do hope to see Ravena playing on Japan and he will face his younger brother on 1 game.

But the news that I've seen is that NLEX is giving a blessing to him to move forward to Japan with his new opportunity so, that probably means that he's fine with his termination contract on NLEX and it's probably going to be NLEX that shall void his contract with him. I don't know the actual process of it but it's usually the one who gave the contract can terminate it any time they wish to do.

But the situation of Jericho Cruz is different from Kiefer as Jericho has an intention to get back once his opportunity gets done. But yeah, they'll let him go unless the PBA management is too hard to Kiefer and they have that pride that they can't just let go a player that's hoping for a better opportunity that was offered to play for the other country on their very own league. It probably sucks on the side of PBA management to do that and see their players starting to have an idea that there's a better opportunity that can be grabbed by other players if there's an offer that comes to them.

Yes, there's no reason for him to stay in the bubble. The latest news that I've read about this issue is that PBA will let Shiga Lakestars know what's the situation of Kiefer. I think that's favorable for Kiefer and instead of that Shiga will stop their recruitment to Kiefer as it's like the intention of PBA, they can just buy out his contract if ever they won't give the blessing and pass for him to go to Japan. That's an easy thing for Shiga if they really are hungry to take Kiefer on their team. But I hope that the negotiation and talks between Shiga and PBA will be that easy.

There's no reason to blame if he is professional, there's a contract, as you said he has to honor it, he will choose not to play and pay what is necessary as long as there's no criminal liability, and his dreams will still come into reality.

You have a point, but what if the team or the management will not allow him to sign to another league because he is still under contract and will face a problem if he breaches the contract? PBA might send some warning and players cannot easily leave the PBA, you know, this PBA is still control by the big teams and they can manipulate it, just saying.

THE PBA formally wrote a letter to the Japan B.League, explaining the circumstances on why Kiefer Ravena is ineligible to play for the Shiga Lakestars.

League chairman Ricky Vargas said the official letter was sent on Saturday and addressed to B.League President Shinji Shimada.

Good if that would happen but I doubt it will be able to compete with the salary of players in Japan, I mean, they a progressive country so it's normal that the salary is lower compared to them, that's simple logic. That's why PBA  just strengthens their implementation of rules so players will stay once they are still in contract.
