They showed that they can be a title contender when they faced against the Ginebra. Unfortunately he suffered an injury on that series that ended up being defeated in 5 games.

With JMF possibly not playing this year, he will be considered as one of the good bigs in the league especially now that we are in a Philippine Cup where there are no imports. Although he has a bad past in his past teams, he is still one of the best Centers right now.

Anyway, I saw this random post in FB recently regarding the long awaited PBA bubble. I want to knonow your opinion about this one.

Like wth, it doesn't make sense. They are prohibiting fist bumps and high fives for safety but it seems they forgot that both teams are only using one basketball Grin.
Another complete idiocy coming from our fellow countrymen

Its like one protocol in Boracay I think where even though they are in a hotel, social distancing must be observed. Like WTH, they are educated ones but they are making nonsense rules. This rule is a complete useless, nonsense. I can't say anything but they are just stupid if they will continue this rule.

To summarize, only 13 players will not wear a mask, 10 players + 3 referees.

LOL, so they think the virus will not stay if it's already in the place, it's nice to be realistic TBH, once the virus is in the area, everyone will be infected because they are in a close arena. They better not wear that mask like the NBA did, that rule is absurd.

Well, I would not use the term countrymen because using that generalizes Filipinos as makers of bad policies. If we are makers of bad policies then I don't think our country would have survived on its own for more than 100 years. I would say something like this, " Another complete idiocy coming from the PBA policy makers ". Well, they must have thought about it and maybe asked people in the PBA if that is a good policy to do. I don't generalize and make complete idiots of Filipino's as a whole, the word "countrymen" generalizes all 100 plus ethnic groups of the Philippines as someone that really makes bad rules, and that is I think not really good. I want to say more but you all know what it is.

Getting close for Abueva's comeback, another great news for him and for the Phoenix fans.

Phoenix thanks GAB for giving Abueva a shot at redemption

Quote
PHOENIX is grateful for the help the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) has extended to Calvin Abueva in what could be a closer prelude to his official return to the PBA.

Phoenix management issued an official statement thanking GAB under chairman Baham Mitra and his commissioners for the 'understanding and compassion' they showed while dealing with the 32-year-old eccentric forward's situation.

The agency on Friday agreed to reinstate the professional license of Abueva pending two conditions which the former San Sebastian star needs to meet.

“The Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmasters are grateful to GAB chairman Abraham ‘Baham’ Mitra and to all its commissioners for bringing Calvin a step closer to resume playing professional basketball,” said the team in an official statement Friday night.

I maybe offended some of our countrymen with my statements and opinions so I must apologize to my wordings. I just expressed my feelings and opinion with that stupid rule but I used the word countrymen which is my mistake. The term idiocy that I used though is kinda wrong too but I want them to at least remove this rule because there is no sense to it. Still, apologies to those who I offended to my words Smiley.

He is the top pick in the 2019 PBA draft so as a top pick, the expectations to him is high though I don't know how he plays in his College days since I'm not watching that much in College Leagues.

Wow! therefore we can expect that he will help his team here to win in the bubble, the bad part is he was coming from an injury, so we don't know if he is still the same prior to the injury, some players can retain their strength while some cannot, hopefully for this young man the same potential is still present in him, but we will find out once the bubble start soon.

Fajardo the best player in the PBA is not joining the bubble but good news he starts his own training too for his comeback.

Fajardo returns to SMB practice court flashing three-point shooting touch

Quote
JUNE Mar Fajardo took a huge step in his recovery from a leg injury as he stepped on the court for the first time in eight months this week.

While the rest of San Miguel returned to practice at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Clark, Pampanga, the SMB cornerstone continued his own comeback bid at the Acropolis gym in Quezon City, putting up some shots with the help of assistant coach Boycie Zamar and staff Andrew Bulahan.

The six-time MVP showed his progress from tibia surgery in his newest video on his Youtube channel AHOS gaming on Thursday, entitled “FINALLY!! Nakabalik na din sa court!”

“After eight long months nakabalik na din sa court. Slowly but surely lang,” Fajardo said. “Salamat sa lahat ng mga prayers nyo at suporta, naappreciate ko kayo ng husto!”

It's best seeing him back inside the court. Knowing how he missed it even it's just a practice the intention brings back his lust in playing, he have to work it out as he's aging also and the conditioning for his physical health is really important.

When I read your post about his 3 point touch, it's excite me imagine his soft touch move and that baby fadeaway.
I wonder if he will also do some side step 3 point jumper HAahaha..

Kidding aside, even he will be missed inside the bubble preparing for the next season might be starting for him now.

A good practice since no need to move that much. He has a perimeter shooting but I see that's just his second option once back in action.

Making a jump shot, either perimeter or beyond the arc will be his good rehabilitation activity.

After all, he doesn't have any choice as he is still recovering and no teammates can help his usual offense/defense practice right now.

For sure this will be a big chance for others to step up their game. JMF is the one athlete that makes it harder for other teams to get a higher spot. If he ain't playing in the bubble then it will really take a toll to his team. But are there any other star player who will not play during this conference? Although JMF will not be in the bubble, I still see SMB as an all star team, cause even without JMF, they are still strong and for sure can still win games.

I hope the safety of all the players inside the bubble, at last, we are once again having the PBA league!

I think only JMF and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser will not play for SMB, with the remaining squad, it still looks like an all star team as there's a lot of players in the SMB who played for the Philippine team. Name it, Romeo, Tautuaa, Ross, Santos, Cabagnot, and I think there's more.. of course Marcio Lassiter almost forgot.

I hope the safety of all the players inside the bubble, at last, we are once again having the PBA league!

They are coming,  I guess a week from now though the count down has not started in their site https://pba.ph/

<snip>
I did not know that Fajardo was injured on his Tibia what portion of the leg?

Basketball is very risky to physical injuries because of the weights and height of a player that corresponds to his physical structure of the human body. Due to the fact that inside the basketball court there are presence of other players that might hit physically and add to the tension of the musculoskeletal system of the human body resulting to injury. I can't watch to see those kind of injuries that involves breaking a leg that any bones will deformed or even made exposed due to open wounds.

Quote
the SMB superstar had suffered a fractured right tibia that ruled him out for the all-Filipino conference, and perhaps for the whole 2020 PBA season.

Read full story here : https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/how-the-freak-june-mar-fajardo-injury-happened-in-smb-practice-a2437-20200205

It's a physical game, injury is possible and it could happen to anyone not only Fajardo, the good news is that we already have an advance medication today which gives them a chance to heal their injury in a short period of time, they enjoy their good salary and at the same time they are also prone to risk of getting injured.

Fajardo the best player in the PBA is not joining the bubble but good news he starts his own training too for his comeback.

Fajardo returns to SMB practice court flashing three-point shooting touch
I saw his video on Facebook saying that he will not join in the bubble and its kinda expected already that it will take longer time for his injury to heal.

Anyway, him back on the court for some training is a good news for us SMB fan (solid fan here Cheesy). I will expect him to be back next year in the next conference or maybe in the next conference we don't know.

Its a physical game and injuries are inevitable so... yeah. That is why players are continuously making their body fit thru training and exercises so that they will not be prone to any injuries. Nobody wants to see players getting injured especially if it is our fan but it is an accident and we can't avoid it.

Few more days before the resumption of our favorite local league so better prepare your cryptos for the betting  Smiley.

On the other hand, some of us are thinking that Ginebra would win the championship with the absence of Fajardo but i'm also thinking that Ginebra have lost it's most potent weapon in the bubble, the crowd , their sixth man lol.

Do you think that it have an effect to Ginebra as they will be playing on a crowdless arena?

Not just Ginebra but to all teams as well. It's hard to adapt to a new normal environment.

Just like in the NBA, I believed the nature of the new setup affects the player's performance especially during the early phase of their resume where literally, staffs and players are the only people on the court. So to solve this, NBA setup a virtual crowd to somehow feels that when a team is supposed to be on a home team, players will feel it. Lots of slots and if I'm not mistaken, around 100 or more are being placed virtually throughout the playing court. That was a great boost.

On that part of the virtual audience, I believed PBA won't go that far for an obvious reason unless they will push for it. Their current setup can be compared when they are doing practice games. I don't see any plan yet for PBA on how they will improve the nature inside the bubble. Maybe there is but not announcing it yet to the media or still on their table for discussion.

As they progress, PBA players will soon be used on that kind of setup.

The players can't really feel the pressure with the crowds to which it shouts motivate the players to do their best and win a game. However, in NBA they manage to collect all the noise from the virtual fans as true fans in the court. Again, there is a great difference having a virtual fans and the real crowd. Playing with whom you know that people are supporting your team likely to get motivated and get a good play for the team. This should be the real set up, sadly due to pandemic everything has change and I think the cure or vaccine still not done yet and we could be like this for next few months.

Well said! there's really a big difference as Pinoy fans are well known in terms of cheering their idols, the encouragements that the noise brings to the team is really awesome!

Even there's ways  like virtual noise which is being introduce with NBA bubble it's still far from real crowd who are clapping and shouting for their respective teams and players.

Maybe in somehow PBA will get some same alike crowd, fans will support this even in a small ways they will be able to give the team the support to continue playing competitively.

PBA game schedules are out.
The official tip-off will be on October 11.
https://www.pba.ph/schedule

They also release the official team rosters that will join the season restart.
https://www.facebook.com/pbaofficial/posts/4037380176278387

-NorthPort Batang Pier not listing Robert Bolick to their official roster. Even he is cleared to resume practice last August, maybe he's not 100% healthy to come back playing. Remember that he tore his ACL around a year ago and the expected recovery period was 8 months (July 2020).

-Calvin Abueva might play on Phoenix 2nd official game on October 19.

-There's a rare triple-header game on October 31.

I'm very excited on the restart and can't wait to see Calvin Abueva play again after 15 long months of being away on the PBA.

Damn NorthPort. So, rumors could be true that Bolick is on the trading block that is why he is not on the official roster even if he is cleared to resume practice. I've read the reason why he won't play in the bubble because the management is afraid that Bolick will be injured again this short season that might reduce his value on the trade.
