Sierra Leone vs Sao Tome and Principe played their qualifiers: Group A in  Africa Cup of Nations Qualification match today and it ended with: Sierra Leone 2-2 Sao Tome and Principe. Though I am African but this name Sao Tome and Principe is not familiar with me. And this is the first time I am hearing this name and if not this match I would not heard about it. They completed the full 90 minutes and played 3 minutes extra time. And the match just ended.
Is it exactly the same for me too, it's my first time seeing such a country name, Infact, I had to Google search that to be sure it is actually a name of a country and also an African country, I discovered that it is actually a country in Central Africa that speaks Portuguese as their official language.

 Grin

we Africans suffer a lot, that means that in your country you don't study the geography and history of all countries in the world, here in my country ( we speak Portuguese ) and at school we study the history of all countries in the world and their locations, for That's because I know a little about the history of each country, and that's a good thing.

mozambique - senegal

The game has already started here in my country, Mozambique, I'm watching the game on TV while using the computer, honestly I see that once again we're going to concede a lot of goals, without the reinildo in defense we're very vulnerable, the football board in my country is very greedy and they don't give good conditions to my country's players, so all my country's players and even the coach are unmotivated, it's absolutely certain that we're going to lose in this game, I have no doubts about that, but at least that we don't suffer many goals like in the first leg, it was very sad and humiliating that we conceded 5 goals in the first leg. our attack is also a disaster because our best players are not playing due to the fight with the soccer managers in my country, it is difficult to have a good team when you have corrupt people managing soccer Cry

Ongoing match result
Guinea Bissau(0) - (1)Nigeria
In the second leg, Nigeria's Moses Simon scored the only goal in the 30th minute. I wonder what changed with the team. Were they more motivated? Maybe they were just under pressure to win after receiving a heavy backlash from Nigerians following their defeat at the National Stadium. I expected that there would have been more than two goals since the first goal was from a penalty kick. Anyways, they are two points ahead of their opponents on the table and on June 12 will face Sierra Leone.
I watched the match, it's a pity that the Super Eagle couldn't score a goal in an open play throughout 90 minutes, if not the penalty awarded against their opponent the match would have ended goalless, Super Eagle ought to have thrashed the Guinea Bissau team, unfortunately poor finishing was the order of the day, Chukwueze was very poor in the attack and often selfish with passes he couldn't link up perfectly with Victor Osimen while Moses Simon dribble unnecessary, though the Super Eagle did controlled and took most the possessions but their final third was very poor, however it's good we are topping the table and will surely qualify but I wanted a more improved Super Eagle who will feared by their opponents.
The coach of Guinea Bissau stated that "big names don't play football," and the first and second quarters of the game proved him right. We saw a squad that was ready to play to win and a team that wasn't willing to give up their best for the nation.

I applaud the Guinea Bissau team for demonstrating to the Super Eagle team that they are vulnerable to team members of lower-class team players. Football is no longer played by names or pass glory because, in my opinion, the Super Eagles are focusing on those things.

mozambique - senegal
Senegal secure their place in the next African cup of Nations with a Slender lead against Mozambique, they still have a few games, but qualification is already sure for them. It's been a long time since I watched Sadio Mane play for Senegal after missing the world cup. He was not very impressive to me maybe mostly because he is just returning from injury, he held on to the ball at times when he should have passed the ball and missed a very good chance to double their lead in the last final minutes of the game with a free header. Well based on his status, I am sure that the Senegalese supporters will overlook any of his excesses in the game.

Let's forget about motivation speeches which I believe was the case of the coach of Guinea Bissau, big names play football and if you doubt me, then names of  Haaland, Mbappe, Ronaldo and Messi won't be heard because these are good players that have made names for themselves and they are all big names.

Coming to the African football, the first leg of the game between Nigeria and Guinea Bissau  where Nigeria was defeated in Abuja by Guinea Bissau didn't happen because the big boys in Nigeria didn't play well it's just a game where the stadium wasn't favourable to the super eagles of Nigeria and the away team got a lucky goal which saw them win the first leg. Coming to the second leg of the game we saw a different super eagles ready and we'll determined to win the game regardless of the poor formation of the coach and they still managed to get all the three points from away. This shows that the big names in the super eagles team helped the team to beat Guinea Bissau team to reclaim back the top spot in the group where they belong.

Definitely I know that Senegal would win mozambique, this are sure prediction and not like Nigerian Super Eagles that gave different odds. Senegal played their best to win the match but I was expecting them to score more goals.

This was one of the interesting games in the Qualifiers stage. Cape Verde possessed ball more than it opponent. They deserved the goal they scored. Bravo for them.

Maybe the pressure and critics was what they need to force them to do better. It's a shame how poor our national team is performing and still bearing the name "Giants of Africa" when in my opinion the real giants of Africa are senegal and Morocco. We were lucky the Super Eagles were able to secure a win with that one goal they scored.
Sometimes I wonder why this player plays so well at their club side but when they come for the national team they perform like overfed chickens instead of flying like the eagle their claimed to be, this is not the first time Nigeria's super eagles have messed things up for our national football and I know this will not also be the last time there will disappoint us.

-But the way to solve this issue is as hard as ways to solve Chelsea's underperforming issues also because both teams have the same similar problems facing their performances.

LOL, whether Senegal scored more goals or not, the important thing is that they won.
I missed watching the game when it was played,  but I am currently watching the highlight right now, from what I see here, it was indeed an interesting game, Senegal scored very early, I think around the 66th minutes or earlier, they indeed had alot of time to score more goals, but I think they went into defence mode to prevent Mozambique from retaliating with an equalizing goal, I am glad it worked for them though.

We jump into conclusions but sometimes we fail to analyze some aspects surrounding the team like board. The super Eagles are mostly consist of big names this days but most of them hardly ever get minutes in their respective clubs. The likes of Ndidi shouldn’t be starting since he is out of form. But still we can’t do without them because there isn’t much replacement. Replacement could have come from our local league and this boys will put in a better performance. Ever wonder why we hold the record for winners medal in under 17 World Cup? Because this are boys that want to play for the national team and not some players that feel they can’t be dropped.

Also the NFF having been getting it quite wrong in terms of appointing a coach, why can’t we get an experienced one or rather develop ours? It is not a coincidence that Morocco are doing well. Look at their local league and their facilities, you will see that they are far ahead of Nigeria and west African countries

Having big names without the needed coherence between them will create a partially dysfunction team. They can win obviously but they cannot advance a lot. This is the example of many national and domestic top teams.
Today, Cameroon lost with 2 goals to 1 vs Namibia which is quite surprising for me. Egypt and Guinea switched position in their group. Ivory Coast (almost) claimed back the first position.

When it comes to African football I never doubt the dominance of Senegal, I prefer them to represent African outside with international competition than even my home country because I believe they can always deliver. It was no surprise that they were among the very first country (if not the first) to secure their spot at the next AFCON. Nigeria should be qualifying with them but we throw that chance away by allowing Guinea Bissau to defeat us at home. Now we have to play other games under pressure but hopefully we top the group so as to get a better chances of joining groups that won't have inform nation's that'll give us headache to defeat.

Rwanda vs Benin yesterday game ended goalless and In regards to the rest of the game that were to be played like Zimbabwe vs South Africa, they got cancelled then postponed and now we're left with no game to watch as the international break will be ending and we'll be returning to club football which is more pleasant to watch (been honest). The AFCON qualifiers resume on the 12 of jun so while we enjoy the club football we can still be discussing ongoing matters that has to do with African players playing in Europe just to keep ourselves occupied before the international breaks comes back and we continue with the AFCON qualifiers discussion.

It is true that the field wasn't in a good playing condition and most of our players are not home based and no longer used to playing on a pitch like that, I think it favoured the Guinea players more because most of them are home based players but players are not rated as big names for nothing, they earn it and having big names in a squad give more advantage over average teams for better experience and professionalism. In the second leg the better team had the day.

Despite the very rich human resources and incredible talent in the Super Eagles team they still lost at home to Guinea Bissau and managed to win by a goal to nil away to the Guineans. José Peseiro needs to do better in uniting a team that has the likes of Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and so many other exciting talents. If the squad is properly managed they should be tearing other African teams apart.

I still don't trust the appointment of José Peseiro as the head coach of the super eagles, his stats hasn't been pleasant to see. The Super eagles hasn't been themselves lately and José Peseiro seems like he's playing favorites from what I have seen so far or are there people giving him orders on who to play or not to play. I don't understand why he isn't starting players that understand themselves better. Isn't him training with them, by now he's meant to know who plays better with who and give us a teams we can rely on to deliver victories whenever they play for the national team.

We can't even beat small teams like Guinea Bissau on home soul and away we got only 1 goal. So if the stadium was the issue at home, what happened away that we couldn't pour the revenge on them by scoring more goals. We have very good strikers that are capable of getting hattrick in this type of game so why isn't that happening. The Super eagles need to seat up or they'll be left out in the conversation for who wins next year AFCON which will be very bad for the  nation considering all we have gone through last year, from getting knockout so early in the last AFCON and not qualifying for the world cup.

It's understandable to have concerns about the appointment of José Peseiro as head coach of the Super Eagles, especially considering the team's recent performances. It's important for a coach to select players based on merit and team chemistry, rather than playing favorites or following orders from others. Additionally, it's concerning that the team has struggled to perform against smaller teams like Guinea Bissau, and there seems to be a lack of understanding and cohesion among the players!!!
The Eagles need a coach who can identify the strengths and weaknesses of each player, and create a cohesive team that can deliver victories consistently. It's crucial for the team to start performing better and showing progress, especially with the upcoming AFCON tournament. Hopefully, the coaching staff and players can work together to address these concerns and improve the team's overall performance!!
Currently, I am enjoying watching the match between Raja Casablanca and Simba Club on TV. It seems that Raja Club Athletic is capable of scoring goals through the beautiful display they are presenting in the economic capital of Morocco.

The Nigerian Super Flacon is set to play Haiti and New Zealand in a friendly match on Friday(today) and Tuesday, respectively1. Their morale is high after defeating Costa Rica at the Revelation Cup Tournament in Mexico City in February and I hope that that will be enough motivation and drive for them to win the matches ahead of them. In my estimation, New Zealand is not going to be an easy team to beat. These games will serve as a preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be held in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 201. Compared with the Super Eagles, I can confidently put my money on the Super Falcons to win both games.

The Super Falcon's camp is in high spirits because of the arrival of many quality players including Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie. These two players have been playing well in their various clubs but they have not replicated the same performance on the national team. Oshoala plays in the national team with less vigor and determination different from her performance in Barcelona. Although it might not be unconnected to the poor administration of Nigerian football where footballers are not given the needed motivation and attention. The match against Haiti and New Zealand are all preparations for the world cup and I hope there will be no excuse because it seems the Nigerian Football Federation has woken up from slumber. They have been organizing good friendlies for the Super Falcon.

Don't blame them, even the boys are practicing the same strategy, they give it all in Europe but reserve their strength when they play locally and that's because the players here are more physical and very heartless. Also the resources here aren't up to the standard of those at Europe and if you're to get injuried in international football, the clubs surfers as they have to waste resources in treating you while you're not been useful to them. So the coaches might have gotten into this players head to not give their 100% to avoid this injuries.

Sometimes injuries gotten in international duties could lead to you losing your position in the team and that's why players are extremely careful when they play locally. The super falcons are already successful ten times more than the super eagles. I think all that's left for them to win is the Women world cups and as for other domestic cups they have won those numerously.

speaking of african players playing in europe, lately i have noticed that many big teams in europe no longer have many african players that score goals like in the past, let's see chelsea for example it was a team that had many african players, but today when if you look at chelsea you don't see many african players in the starting line-up, when you look at manchester united, arsenal, city and liverpool or tottenham you don't see many african players in the starting line-up, in liverpool there was sadio mane, that since he left liverpool to go to bayern he hasn't been able to score regularly, to be even more fair the mane in bayern doesn't matter much, whether he's playing or not playing doesn't change anything at bayern, it was a big mane's mistake leaving liverpool for bayern

the only player I see being very important is Victor Osimhen who is being a very popular player these days, but apart from him I don't see other African players in the big teams like PSG, City, Juventus, Benfica, Porto, Inter, Milan, Bayern , Real madrid, Barcelona, liverpool ( only Salah stands out ), tottenham, manchester united, chelsea... it looks like African players are now only in small teams and small leagues, in the days of samuel eto , drogba, we had a lot of Africans playing in the big teams and they were always starting players. currently each season African players have less space in the big teams

Slow death, you're not wrong with your observation, i think the problem is that African is not more a favorable market to go for scouting anymore. I think the reduction has to do with the fact that when you get an African player on your team then the team gets built around that player, it becomes a problem when he has to leave in the middle of the season to go play AFCON. Liverpool manage Klopp aired his view on this same issue when he had to let go of about 3 top players in his starting eleven and others are learning from that experience. If AFCON wants our players to be represented properly then they have to reschedule when the AFCON gets played so teams don't worry about players leaving for international football in the middle of the season.

This problem is why only the best are been sorting after, before every body was welcomed in this big clubs and they develop into big players but now only the big players are sorted after so the clubs don't waste so much resources in developing a player only for then to go play for their country and get injuried then the clubs now have to nurse the player to fitness. Haven't you noticed also that clubs don't let players go represent their country in AFCON tournament. What I just said above and couple with the poor state of football in the continent these days is one of the reasons for this problem.

Your points are valid but they are not totally in order. Africa still has key players in top clubs in Europe an example is the Nigerian striker Samuel Chukwueze who is red hot in Villarreal CF. He is a target of most top clubs in Europe. Players like Kalidou Koulibaly, Achraf Hakimi, and Riyad Mahrez are playing in top clubs in Europe. But I will agree that we don't have a player that can compete for the work best football except for Victor Osimhem. I also concur that the number of African players in lowly placed teams outnumbers the quantity playing in top clubs. But we have seen many European players of African descent playing top-class football, can they also be called African?
