I don't get it. So if you had bitcoins on that particular date you will own clams?

As long as the address had funds on the 12th May 2014 then you have clams. Also Dogecoin and Litecoin addresses are included.

Yes, exactly that. If you used the bitcoin-qt wallet it's quite likely that more than one of your addresses had coins on that date (change addresses, etc.), and so you'll get more than one set of 4.6 CLAMs.

ok I need help here. I only have 2 connections on my wallet and I would like to add more but I don't know how. I am using windows. newest version.

The best thing to do is to make sure that your node is able to accept incoming connections.

It's hard to give step-by-step instructions because it's different for each router, but you need to make sure that port 31174 (TCP) is forwarded on your router to your LAN IP address. I'm not familiar with UPnP, but I guess enabling that on your router will make the port forwarding happen automatically.

Maybe someone more familiar with this stuff can help out. But the fundamental problem is we have too many peers attempting to make outgoing connections and too few peers able to accept those incoming connections.

Even if it has nothing currently in there?

So if a address was owned by me at that time but it has nothing in there currently, I will still own CLAMs? Does it have to have some bitcoins in it at that date, or just the ownership of the address?

Sorry for some silly questions.

Yes, also if it has nothing currently in it (and you should empty it by sending to a different address before entering the private key to claim CLAMs). But only if it had some amount "non-dust" in it at the date above, and you have the private key to it now.

Even if it has nothing currently in there?

The CLAMs were given out last summer to every BTC, DOGE, and LTC address that had a non-dust balance on some date in May. 4.6 CLAM to each and every such address.

If you didn't already claim them, your CLAM will still be sitting there in the CLAM blockchain waiting for you to claim them.

The private key for your free CLAM is the same as for your BTC, DOGE, or LTC address which is why you are able to claim your CLAMs and nobody else is able to.

I recently discovered https://shapeshift.io/ - they offer a service where you can exchange one coin for another instantly. But they don't support CLAM.

So:

dooglus: hi
ShapeShift Emily: How may I help you?
dooglus: how do I go about having you guys support another currency?
ShapeShift Emily: What coin are you looking to get added?
dooglus: CLAM
dooglus: it's never outside the top 10 most traded at poloniex, but
         there's nowhere that offers 'instant trading' like you do
dooglus: see https://i.imgur.com/tb1Nl30.png for example - that's
         poloniex's top 10 right now
ShapeShift Emily: Oh, yes. We have been asked about Clam and have it
                  on our altcoin list to research. We have quite a few
                  coins that we have already planned to launch over
                  the next few months but have Clam on our altcoin
                  list to check into.
dooglus: I run Just-Dice.com, which is now CLAM-only. I often have
         people asking how to easily buy or sell CLAM. I'm currently
         having to point them at poloniex but would like to be able to
         recommend your site instead
dooglus: if you do add CLAM, please email me (dooglus@gmail.com) so I
         can add you to our FAQ
ShapeShift Emily: I actually just checked with our devs and they are
                  planning to add Clams in the next few months.
ShapeShift Emily: We will announce as soon as it is up on facebook and
                  twitter.
dooglus: ok thanks

Beware, I've experienced two CLAMscam attempts in as many days. The first one was a request to buy CLAMs. Below is a copy of the last one, someone claiming to be xploited, with a "1" in place of the "l". Based on the grammar, both scam attempts were likely from the same individual.

ok I need help here. I only have 2 connections on my wallet and I would like to add more but I don't know how. I am using windows. newest version.
how do I add more I kinda need a step by step.
thank you

Shut down your client.

Assuming you are using Windows. Go into your CLAMs data folder. It should be somewhere like this: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Clam

Look for the file clams.conf. Open the file in Notepad and add the following:

addnode=104.131.59.43
addnode=109.195.211.62
addnode=173.31.55.8
addnode=46.5.84.204
addnode=54.75.227.85
addnode=66.30.80.136
addnode=73.172.149.95
addnode=73.55.207.245
addnode=74.207.230.61
addnode=76.94.201.185
addnode=80.195.253.183
addnode=84.194.247.232
addnode=93.103.131.59
addnode=71.167.165.132

If clams.conf does not exist then create it in Notepad. Restart the client and give it some time.
i tryed but didnt work i dont know if i didnt it right is there a place where i can download the clams.conf and just place it into the folder. but thank you for the help.
In your CLAMs data folder, find the file debug.log. Copy the contents and paste it to http://privatepaste.com/. Reply here with a link to the privatepaste, then somebody will be able to help you further. Or stop by CLAMs IRC at http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=clams

Beware, I've experienced two CLAMscam attempts in as many days. The first one was a request to buy CLAMs. Below is a copy of the last one, someone claiming to be xploited, with a "1" in place of the "l". Based on the grammar, both scam attempts were likely from the same individual.

[19:01] <xp1oited> garth
[19:01] <xp1oited> wanna ask you some personal question
[19:01] <garthkiser> Smiley OK
[19:02] <xp1oited> need to loan some clams
[19:02] <xp1oited> can you help me
[19:02] <garthkiser> how many?
[19:02] <xp1oited> 1 btc worth
[19:02] <xp1oited> i can back you for 5 days
[19:03] <xp1oited> with some profit
[19:03] <garthkiser> sure, shoot me an address
[19:03] <xp1oited> ok,

[19:04] <xp1oited>  xGmgz7f76m52f71zMuLQyKwoB6KA8HqfPG
[19:05] <xp1oited> thanks , if they work i show you what i find
[19:05] <garthkiser> all my CLAMs are split up into 5CLAM addresses so it would cost me alot of time to send you CLAM. Can I send you BTC instead, or does that not work? You don't have to pay me back in five days, that's OK if it takes longer.
[19:06] <xp1oited> ohh
[19:06] <xp1oited> great
[19:06] <xp1oited> 13TSEorMCMez7MFw5ZL9AUkngB5yVa9nVJ
[19:06] <xp1oited> then i back you 1.05 btc
[19:06] <xp1oited> is that ok
[19:07] <garthkiser> sure thing Smiley
[19:07] == xp1oited [5ef2efa4@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.242.239.164]

[19:08] <xp1oited> still nothing
[19:11] <xp1oited> from where you sending
[19:11] <garthkiser> hell

But the messages kept coming:

[19:11] <xp1oited> lol

[19:13] <xp1oited> uhh

The important thing to note is that on freenode you can change your name from "dooglus" to "doog1us" then type "/msg nickserv group" and it will add your current nickname to the list of names that you "own". That will prevent the scammer from using the name for more than about 30 seconds at a time.

HHAHA omg this was a great plot twist... this was awesome the way you handled it man
~dandii

On Feb 23rd "doog1us" (with a 1 instead of an L) was trying the same trick:

Quote
19:31 <creativeCLAM> Someone trying to imitate you, "doog1us"
19:32 <creativeCLAM> [13:27] <doog1us> how you standing with
19:32 <creativeCLAM> [13:27] <doog1us> CLAM
19:32 <creativeCLAM> [13:27] <doog1us> can you loan me some to finish trade
20:11 <dooglus> huh where?
20:11 <dooglus> realdoog (TM) doesn't borrow clam Smiley
20:12 <creativeCLAM> Smiley
20:12 <creativeCLAM> lol
20:12 <creativeCLAM> he PMd me
20:12 <dooglus> ah I see the 1 now
20:12 <dooglus> that's pretty good
20:12 <creativeCLAM> not bad
20:12 <creativeCLAM> [13:27] <creativeCLAM> How am I standing?
20:12 <creativeCLAM> [13:27] <doog1us> i pay you profit
20:12 <creativeCLAM> [13:28] <doog1us> what is your balance, damn
20:12 <creativeCLAM> [13:28] <creativeCLAM> Who are you again?
20:12 <dooglus> is it registered?
20:12 <dooglus> the nick
20:13 <creativeCLAM> didn't check anything
20:13 <dooglus> if not, maybe worth doing once he's gone
20:13 <dooglus> freeserve is pretty good at not letting people use registered nicks I think
20:13 <dooglus> I gotta go out now
20:13 <creativeCLAM> [14:13] doog1us no such nick/channel
20:13 <creativeCLAM> kk Smiley
20:14 <doog1us> got it: 20:14 -NickServ(NickServ@services.)- Nick doog1us is now registered to your account.
20:14 <dooglus> that was me btw
20:14 <dooglus> sorry for confusion!
20:15 <creativeCLAM> get'er registered?
20:15 <creativeCLAM> awesome Smiley
23:57 <dooglus> did you get the IP address of 'doog1us'?
00:00 <creativeCLAM> got it
00:00 <creativeCLAM> doog1us is 5ef2efa2@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.242.239.162 94.242.239.162
00:00 <creativeCLAM> had it in my server tab
00:03 <dooglus> 00:01 <***> He is currently online as fake blazedout
00:03 <dooglus> 00:01 <***> Blazedout4l9 is 5ef2efa2@gateway/web/freenode/ip.94.242.239.162
00:03 <dooglus> 00:01 <***> 4l9 instead of 419
00:03 <dooglus> 00:02 <dooglus> huh
00:03 <dooglus> 00:03 <dooglus> another guy was in the channel scamming around the same time
00:03 <dooglus> 00:03 <***> That IP is what he uses most often.  it is the Serbian scammer.

He was in #clams too as "bolcerit" - note the misuse of "I back" again.

Quote
21:47 < dandiilion> bolcerit sent me the username and password to his blockchain.info account. it had 9.96BTC on it... but the private key wasn't there and it seemed like he was trying to scam me
21:47 < dandiilion> i sent him 0.1 clam to show him i had clams
21:47 < bolcerit> yes from my online walllet
21:47 < bolcerit> then i back to you
21:47 < dandiilion> then he wanted me to send him 100 clams first... and i wouldn't do that because it was obvious the private key wasn't on the blockchain.info account
21:48 < dandiilion> let's just drop this... seriously
21:48 < bolcerit> 0.1  ,but you ay this is you, but this is not you, this is BuyAreaCoin
21:48 < bolcerit> you say this is yours ID

Apparently this guy has been around for a long time scamming on various bitcoin channels. We should be take this as a good sign - idiots like this guy value CLAM highly enough to try to steal it.

I recently discovered https://shapeshift.io/ - they offer a service where you can exchange one coin for another instantly. But they don't support CLAM.

I love this part: "planning to add Clams in the next few months." Few months... that's forever in crypto time.
