Good news!
Our friends over at Monero (moneromooo in particular) have figured out how to use Tor with Cryptonote coins using the torsocks wrapper, so you can enjoy using AEON with Tor-protected anonymity at the network level.
1. Make sure you are running a Tor demon. With Ubuntu Linux you can just apt-get install tor and you'll be all set
2. torsocks aeond --p2p-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --hide-my-port
In the case of Monero there are some issues with DNS being blocked and required some code changes, but AEON does not use DNS, so we don't have to worry about that issue at all.
There is one message (harmless) that gets reported during IGD (UPnP) setup, but that can be ignored. I added a --no-igd option in github, so you can use that to get rid of the message if you build from the latest source, but it isn't really necessary.
Depending on the version of torsocks you have installed, you may get some messages about missing symbols. Those can also be ignored.
There is probably a way to do something similar on Windows, but I don't know it. Anyone?

TOR is a great addition. ... In the case of Monero there are some issues with DNS being blocked and required some code changes, but AEON does not use DNS, so we don't have to worry about that issue at all. ...
No one should have ever put a DNS dependency in a coin. DNS is essentially fucked up in terms of security, privacy and decentralization.

according to the tor faq, there is freecap http://freecap.ru/eng/ and torcap http://www.freehaven.net/~aphex/torcap/. i noticed also torcap2 at https://github.com/cpatulea/TorCap2torcap gave me nothing, no activity into the log... torcap2 return "error injected hook in the process" freecap is a 9 years old freeware , i configured it with socks4 (socks4a not available) on port 9050 (tor is running). i'm able to launch aeond via freecap but how i can check anonymity of aeond? freecap log is enable but log file is not created.

You're the guy who called spoetnik a genius, so sorry if I don't take you at your word. Do you have proof of this scam accusation? I'd like some proof of spot's genius too, but I know that isn't happening.

Mining a little AEON on Freya for now - one 290X is doing over 1750H/s... oddly, it's the Elpida one. I don't get it.
Have you pushed a miner that works reliably (at one point I understood that it crashed/hung after a while, but maybe not)? I was waiting for that to pay the bounty, but it's still waiting.

I've been doing main development on the XMR miner, but I'd need someone to test it for a few days to be sure. Please post a link to the current AEON version and we'll have someone here test it.

Doesn't look updated. https://github.com/wolf9466/wolf-aeon-miner/commits/master

Arux, or anyone, please try testing the latest from this repo.

Ive been using wolfs miner for weeks. Ive had mo issues with it after he fixed the timing out and stale share issues. I dont know if he now has a more improved miner now or not. Would love it if he does.
On another subject i have some Raspberry PI 2's lying around and would like to set them up running Aeon nodes. Is this possible? Mining on them possible yet or ever will be? Would be nice to use them for Aeon! I have my other two computers running aeon too want to get everything i can supporting one way or another. Any help would be great!

You can probably mine on them (slowly!) using a standalone cpu miner (not Wolfs which is optimized for intel), but running a node is not possible yet due to the memory requirement. It should be possible in the future.

@ Smooth
What standalone cpu miner would you recommend for the PI2? Id like to try it for the hell of it. Wasnt some people using the PI s for Monero nodes?

This one MAY work. I'm not sure if it is 100% portable code. https://github.com/iamsmooth/cpuminer-multiWasnt some people using the PI s for Monero nodes?
Yes that is possible once there is a database implementation to store the blockchain out of memory. AEON doesn't have that yet. Even with pruning a rpi2 is close but still a bit too small.
