Looking at the trends I see us going down to around 34 before momentum swings upwards...

I say that not really having any understanding of what I'm looking at, it's more of a guess really.

...constant comparison with BTC rather than the other 1000 alts...

Ya know why? Because secure privacy is almost the only meaningful tech to come out of the alt-circus so far. And the people who appreciate and understand bitcoin at a greater depth than most realize this (and have been eschewing almost all alts for years because almost none are truly interesting).

sudo economist: make me a sandwich

I find it interesting that the total amount of XMR for sale on Polo remains around 150k which is quite low in a downtrend.

Seems to indicate that the new holders of the ~50,000 XMR unloaded by windjc intend not to sell at any price near these levels, but this is just wild speculation. Smiley

edit: i am not sure if windjc meant 6 figures of XMR or 6 figures in fiat...

I don't think windjc does his accounting in XMR.

I do.

Did I miss where windjc dumped 50k XMR? Permanent bail, or trying to buy lower?

Ideological dump. He thinks Rpietila ego is too big and wanted to teach him a lesson so he decided that his best course of action was liquidate his XMR position at a bottomish price. I wonder if he realizes that he's gonna achieve the opposite of what he wanted. Lulzy.

I've been idly wondering the last week or so what are the dynamics between, eg, Monero, and Bitcoin price. After the Monero specific speculation, what additional effect on Monero price is Bitcoin price expected to have ? In other words, does a decrease in Bitcoin price tend to push Monero price higher (if the price of Monero tends to be viewed in fiat terms), have close to no effect (if the price of Monero tends to be viewed in Bitcoins), or push it lower ? And conversely when the price of Bitcoin goes up.

I'd guess a first psychological reason of the main Monero markets being priced in bitcoin would mean no change, but the fiat price is a major consideration when a currency can't be universally used as such, and I'm curious whether experience with other strong alt coins has anything to say here, and whether Monero is expected to match such experience.

Nom mom mom...

The price looks deliciously tasty for accumulation. I might have to thank the forum trolls for this opportunity! Some are likely true playa hataz, which is their prerogative. But they are doing me a favor! Thanks guys!!! You've created an opportunity!

If the price drop between your purchase price and stay there for some time, you will have different feeling.

Then you buy more to lower your average buy in price.

Whales are playing on Polo. At some point made 250 BTC buying wall at highest price to buy. Lot of chances to dump for those that have to. And lot of chances could trigger panic buying. Like this will go to 0.0045 or even 0.005  real fast.

The action has been going on for 2,5 hours.

- 39,000 XMR have been traded
- Price from 380k to 434k
- Many players with big stacks of BTC making buy walls
- No any dumps over 5,000 XMR during the whole exercise
- Action continues with BTC187 bid wall standing at 425k.
