Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Yes it's VERY slow right now...last bet took 13 confirms, 1 hour and 16 minutes until processed.

It kinda lost it's fun when it takes such time now... What made SatoshiDice so unique to me was how fast you get the return. You instantly had your winnings in your wallet, ready to spend on something else if you'd want to.

If this delay is the "new" SatoshiDice that has to super-verify all bets, then perhaps it's time to do something useful with my BTC ^^

You guys with the long delays, do you use the Windows bitcoin-qt wallet, or blockchain.info wallet, or?

In Bitcoin-Qt options, set your optional transaction fee per kB to 0.0006, then you will beat everyone else that is only paying 0.0005 (the minimum that is automatically included).

blockchain.info doesn't consistently use a fee that will get you fast confirmation, the advice is to go into the options and change the fee setting to "generous" -> 0.001 per transaction (which still is not a minimum fee that is calculated using the formula Bitcoin miners look for, but usually sufficient).

Here's a SatoshiDICE transaction (not mine): 0991b6daa9c1d2c49f6fbcf356b208d9bb44cb98256e7f29ee0b50272f6f3d44

6 confirmations, sent more than an hour ago, but the SatoshiDICE site still doesn't know anything about it.

Thx for the info, I usually use the standard 0.0005 fee on Bitcoin-Qt. Didn't know the stuff about blockchain.info wallet though so I appreciate telling me.

Not one of my bets, probably many others having the same problem.

My bet with 12 confirmations is still waiting for a return, sent more than 1 hour 40 minutes ago... sucks!

Just wanna give a WARNING to everyone, there might be something fishy going on with SatoshiDice now. I have 2 bets on 2 different addresses which I still haven't received any return on, sent 4 hours 30 minutes ago! So either there's a big issue with SatoshiDice right now or they only ripped me off on 2 small bets (0.014 and 0.02). It may have small bets in Januari, but considering the value of BTC this issue kinda matters to me..

I've tried both but it's all the same..

Does it matter?

FWIW I've made over 3300 bets on satoshidice since August 2012 so I've seen the behavior of the website change slowly over time.  For the longest time you could bet without fee and it would return your result almost immediately - then, because of the chance of pre-mining double spend blocks, evoorhees changed the system to only pay result if the bet transaction enclosed a fee, or it was inside a block - that was fine, I just started enclosing a fee - but more recently things have changed again.

It appears now that bets below 2BTC (this value might be lower, but this is what I've seen most recently) are processed immediately, up to a limit of around 3-4 'outstanding' bets i.e. if you keep betting it will hit this limit and you have to wait until a block is confirmed before the following bets pay out.  Bets above 2 BTC need to be in a block before the payout happens.

However, even more recently, an extra complication has happened - which is that blockchain.info does not see the payout transactions until they are in a block - so if you bet from blockchain.info, and satisfy the above criteria (fee enclosed, bet less than 2BTC, no more than 3-4 outstanding bets) then satoshidice will pay out - you can go and check the transaction on the satoshidice website and get the payout TX - but it won't appear on blockchain.info.

To solve this problem, I've taken to placing my bets from blockchain.info, but watching the payout occur on an instance of bitcoin-qt with the keys loaded for the bet address - so I bet on blockchain then wait a few seconds and the payout appears on bitcoin-qt - I have to wait a block for the payout to appear on blockchain.info.

I'm not sure what changed on blockchain.info to make it so these valid unconfirmed transaction don't appear - because other unconfirmed transactions appear fine on blockchain.info - I suspect perhaps piuk was being spammed by satoshidice bet results and chose to just drop them until they were confirmed into a block, but I'm only guessing there.

Hope that helps,

Will
