Makes no sense
Erik would make this sort of announcement himself.

Agreed, this could possibly be a phisher manipulating shares down to  buy them up cheap

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

No sense in shares down either.
blocking ip to website doesn't stop people from using satoshi dice in anyway.

Hmm it is the official account I think
Whatever buys in on the panic I'll take the hit if this is legit instead of a hacked account haven't seen prices drop like this since Btc was at 250
If it is legit then hot damn well the US is a big market but I think the world is too and proxys lol

Yep well if it is true I think the market made a fair deduction sort of well yes the US is gone from site access but as reddit points out
The addresses don't change so bought in if it's timed with btct.co going down for a bit there due to DDOS
You don't even need a proxy to bet. all you do is send btc to an address. the website is just for looks and stats.
This point is key. Ironically for the US the only thing that will be blocked is the marketing arm of the business and operations will continue with the actual gambling aspect regardless.
Plus, someone "unaffiliated" to Satoshidice could easily post a HOWTO on various forums. It'd be "out of their control" to censor the address information. It's already available through blockchain.info and other places.
Guess I'll see in the morning or tomorrow when the change will happen if I bet on it right or just got the new market price Smiley Might just be a bit too much hype and panic this time the fundamental hasn't changed the business is still running day to day operations and renewed its web address already lol... Cheesy

Understand that Satoshidice is not going this for any other reason than to have a legal standing if/when US authorities come to them and say 'you can't have a gambling website for US customers'.  The actual technicalities of bypassing this, or the fact that you can gamble over the P2P network, or use a VPN don't matter, it's about Satoshidice making a 'best endeavour' to block US players from gambling to cover their backs.

Does it really change anything though? Can't a person still send a bitcoin to their addresses to play? One needs only a list of their addresses to keep gambling to ones heart's content.

For current bettors.. Nah.

But I doubt any new bettors from the US will be betting (Well not as many at least).

That's gonna reduce their business a LOT I'd say... I have a feeling it won't be hard for them to get around this though with other websites 'not under their name' displaying all the relevant information (Bet addresses, recent bets etc.) to potential new customers.

Either way, it'll still be a blow. Awaiting Erik's confirmation though.

The issue, as I see it, is that SDICE has been a dead-in-the-water asset for a few months now. The last thing they need is bad news.

In the past, I tried to be nice about my criticisms of SDICE's failure to grow as a business and capitalize on its leading position. However at this point, it's foolish to be optimistic or understanding.

I believe the management has been grossly negligent at the expense of its shareholders.

Maybe shareholders will get lucky and some casino will buy out satoshidice.com for one last payout, but I'm not holding my breath. I completely exited my position over the past couple weeks, and I feel relieved.

Do not blame you but when havelock goes down to 0.12 I couldn't resist haha even looks somewhat appetizing at 0.20 lol if I had gox and 50 bit might nom at 0.16
Also thanks evoorhees for the confirmation post Smiley

It's a smart move. Avoid all the USA bullshit, it's not worth the trouble. People who want to still bet, very easily can. I'm sure someone will just post the betting addresses here. I'm sure someone will make a website that will scan the blockchain and show the results of bets.

The website isn't needed. And this protects them from any USA Govt bullshit. Less growth from users in the USA is a small tradeoff to avoid all the legal gambling BS.

As somebody mentioned, this is exactly what GPG is for. Instead of wasting time on debating the legitimacy of a claim, a user name is not enough for announcements potentially affecting millions of dollars.

ThickAsThieves, I feel I am in the same boat as you...Apart from still holding onto my shares, but my original optimistic view of this operation has become quite grim. Over and over I'm watching horrendously poor management with little reason to expect any change... Is THIS meant to be the awesome news being unveiled this month?

It's been a couple of weeks now, but if Erik or the SDice PR could visit the Securities > S.DICE - SatoshiDICE 100% Dividend-Paying Asset on MPEx thread designated more for these matters...and read and respond to the posts since your last stop by, instead of ignoring them and letting the forum slide, that'd be great.

Are we sure this is Eric Voorhees behind this account and not simply another account taken over by a hacker?

I mean this does not sound like Eric Voorhees at all. Where is the bravado?

It would have been really nice if you guys posted that on your website today. I bet 3 btc, completely unaware of this and have received nothing back, nor a response from your support. Are you just taking the funds sent and running? What gives?
