LOL totally forgot about the pool this time. So, here is mine:

Anyway, good morning WO and observing @ 4 digits again.

$9,968

Yeah. I picked $11-11.5k so 'obviously' I don't know zip about price vs reality.

sigh

To be clear, BTC2 started as a 1:1 snapshot fork, which means that all BTC holders got 1 BTC2 for each BTC they held but the transaction IDs are different.

Claiming from the fork has been made harder 15 months after main net launch as per https://www.bitc2.org/#faq.
I just updated the thread's first page image accordingly. It was outdated.

Still befuddled. On the first page of this thread it states.

All Bitcoin holders as of block 507850 (Feb 5, 2018) got Bitcoin 2 on a 1 for 1 basis.

But such seems not to be the case. Can you clarify? I 'supposedly' would have Bitcoin 2 under the above date.

So trying to figure out what the issues are on above or whatever for the 1 to 1 fork at this time?

thanks

Brad

The developers are busy, they have no time to repeat several times that this is a fork of bitcoin with improved POS mining,
an updated roadmap is published on the
website and again this is not repeated to you .
BTC 2 has a very low supply of coins .
POS mining is more energy efficient, environmentally friendly and has faster transactions .
BTC is mined mainly by large centralized mining farms.                                                                 BTC

1) it is not a real fork of bitcoin, no matching coin

6) point above ...yes BTC is mined mainly by large centralized farms.

As to 2-5 that seems to be a matter of opinion on how well those points have been addressed 'excluding' your first point above. Not as clear as folk would like.

Again, seems to me not being a proper fork, they flubbed the ball. But then again time will tell.

1064  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: US Tariff Ruling N297495 = 2.6% mandatory tariff on bitcoin mining hardware on: September 20, 2019, 02:32:32 PM
I found this article on Oct 16th, 2019 and the tariffs.

https://www.scmp.com/business/china-business/article/2168679/they-were-minting-money-making-cryptocurrency-mining-gear

The 'interesting' line is how the USA classifies the ASIC MINERS as “electrical machinery apparatus” vs previously “data processing machine”.

(Unsure on another note how this affects USA Taxes in that when listed as a computer previously, I could take the 5-year deductible off 'computers' all in 1 year for the full 25% rather than the usual spread out off equipment depreciation, I THINK, it was over each year till 5 years...anyway this is an aside if anyone has clarity on such.) (doubtful) Sad

The office of the United States Trade Representative in June categorized Bitmain’s mining hardware, called Antminer S9, as “electrical machinery apparatus” which is subject to a 2.6 percent tariff. Previously the goods were classified as.

The reclassification brought the mining hardware under the list of Chinese goods subject to the additional 25 percent tariffs, which took effect in August. The outcome is that Chinese cryptocurrency mining gear makers now face tariffs on their US shipments of 27.6 percent, up from zero previously.

So the key here is on these USA tariff exemptions you want to look for "electrical machinery apparatus" now...but that is so frigging broad now we are likely locked in until this whole China Tariff war is over, which may still take 1-2 years, IMHO.

Anyway, found this classification change, figured I'd point it out on the tariff. I was unaware no longer can be classified as a computer for USA tax equipment deductions.

For all, I know this NEW classification is better, if not for tariff, then for tax purposes. But the went to the trouble of actually CHANGING this, so again, IMHO it means something.

So it either means 1) same old same old or  2) something good or 3) something worse as regards to mining ASIC equipment purchases.

Hopefully, others on here have a better knowledge of such stuff above then myself and can post here on such.

Craig is a fraud and it was clear from the beginning.

What is gonna happen when his month runs out with the court for a settlement with the Klieman estate for 1/2 billion USD?

I mean, what is he planning to do then? Change his gender/identity and run for the hills?

brad

"Doctor" Craig Wright will probably declare he has lost access to those bitcoins or maybe fake his own death or maybe just disappear. Whatever it is, he won't admit he is fraud. Because admitting is the ultimate humiliation.

I guess that makes sense. Pick the 'trustees' of early adopters who have passed for example. Hal Finney maybe. Again, this all started from him robbing the Kleiman estate and losing in court and before that the Australian Tax Authorities...he comes up with nothing...I wonder if he has made enough from the BSV scam to settle with both.

Would be just like him to cash out BSV and come away smelling like unicorn farts and rainbows Sad

should have simply at the beginning actually forked the coin..as a result it likely would be a lot more successful than it is now...

Why we chose to do it as a snapshot fork instead of just copying the blockchain:
- We used a proof of stake codebase without segwit support.
- In order to prune the blockchain from a massive 147 GB to less than 1.5 GB. That original size would have severely limited masternode creation and increased staking node hardware requirements. We wouldn't have anywhere close to the 170 or so full nodes running that we have now and 0 managed masternode hosts.

To get the full bitcoin fork marketing benefits, BTC2 would have needed to launch its main net in 2017 like the early simple forks did. It just wasn't ready at that time.

I'm not an expert...but you need more angles to get folk on board. Lower your node HODL requirements for Bitcoin 2. Do an AirDrop. Something.

I'm no expert again, others on here may have better ideas, but right now, most look at this coin without the fork option the same way folks look at Litecoin 2

I think it is called. Just a branding attempt to use the name Bitcoin, without any fork, for whatever reason, still to most folk, IMHO, looks scammy/fishy as hell.

Others can chime in on here on what may work to help this along, but you need to step up and do something or again IMHO, your coin will fade like many others

that have 'fake' forked and just used a legitimate coin name without forking in the correct manner.

hard out there with all these new crypto coins popping up every day, you need something unique as a benefit to your master nodes and/or potential users to get around

what you say on BTC 2. That it was not 'possible' to do a fork of Bitcoin at launch.

Indeed a coin forking off Bitcoin 2 kinda protocols now, with a true fork, could possibly pass you up in use. Again, IMHO. This not true forking off Bitcoin is that big a deal.

Again, I know zip, just saying IMHO. Again, maybe others on here have better ideas.

1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF Trump via Executive Order Banned Bitcoin, what are consequences if any? on: September 18, 2019, 02:03:33 PM
Donald Trump will not be banned but only limited to dislike cryptocurrency. Because they only want to have one real currency in the US, and are stronger than ever. The company insists it will provide a stable currency and be present on smartphones, so that adults without a bank account or those who use services outside the banking system to meet the needs of the financial system.

Unfortunately, being a US Citizen, Trump could slam/ban on twitter or just make 'noises' that he wants to ban bitcoin/crypto ...just like Trump's claimed 'peace talks' making progress with

North Korea. All would be for naught, but he could cause a LOT of damage to price and perception of Bitcoin as a result. Look at climate change. A large part of the USA thinks it is

just a plot and not true, a way to stop Capitalists! Thus, again, he can't ban bitcoin IMHO, but he could cause yet another mess in the Bitcoin/Crypto markets as he has meddled

in other stuff. Anything is possible, IMHO, since the 'unlikely' election or Trump and his co-enablers with crony capitalism in the Senate as his legislative blocking force. I guess

it depends on how much push back there would be from the business community on this. In other words, is 'real money' with 'real political power' already in at what we/they assume

are cheap Bitcoin prices...compared to the future. Time will tell. But with Trump, it is always drama about something. Sad

Yes it does it is called a pump and dump

So if a billionaire pump and dumped Bitcoin, would Bitcoin then be a scam? Give us a break. Grin
BTC2 just was an easier target at that time for an opportunist to do that. Not so easy target anymore.

No, my issue is they did not plan the launch of this bitcoin 2 correctly. They should have just FORKED correctly with payout in BTC 2 via those holding Bitcoin

when BTC 2 was started and worth 1c or 2c...

They would, IMHO,  have made up at the back end in actual coin price now 4x the amount at least, again, IMHO,  doing so, rather than the situation they are now at

...in not being true forked of Bitcoin actually.

The piddly amount of forking the coin at the start would have made this coin a lot less dubious then it is now. Indeed I'd bet it would be $10 coin

by such actions. Thus, one can only conclude that either 1) the devs of BTC 2 were just cheap and greedy or 2) they have no idea how forking a

the coin of Bitcoin at launch makes a big difference for little or no cost at launching...ie they are clueless.

So either does not make my heart go pitter-pat for this Bitcoin 2 coin as a result of NOT forking the damn thing..it was a no brainer to do so at launch

1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: September 17, 2019, 02:38:25 PM
Optimistic about BTC and LTC in the past ten years, and more optimistic about IFC and DOGE in the next decade.Ladies and gentlemen, what do you think?

BTC and LTC are in high demand there are big chances in next bull rally both will show more impressive results as mass adoption is happening at the moment once they reach the mainstream than it will be big fun.

Now many people are accumulating more coins in the market due to fluctuation happening, which altcoins, decreased their prices in the market. So in the coming days, BitCoin and Litecoin will always have very good demand in the market.
In the future, it will be that the total number of POW models is fixed and the number of coins has a scale advantage to become the king of the new generation.
yes you are right and litecoin is one of them, its price is going up again and i think it will touch 100$ again in near future. the bearish period is taking long then expected but the bull period will also take that long time. happy to be the part of crypto in early stages.
All we guess?

nothing will happen to LTC till Mimblewimble is incorporated..then it likely will pump..until then it is likely IMHO to just go sideways and/or down...unless the LTC folk get some PR

going on Mimblewimble and show some movement on github...(which historically they are weak as hell at and always have been)

thus how it MAY play out. I'm still myself am unsure the actually WILL implement Mimblewimble with the USA's view on such coins being anonymous addition to transactions

....they may buckle at the USA issuing any kind of slapback on such. Again, IMHO. Would be nice to be wrong on such, but it is such a 'tag along' coin on what bitcoin core

does..this Mimblewimble would be a major change for them, in that Bitcoin has already rejected Mimblewimble as an option a few years back. It was originally supposed to also

be for Bitcoin, but they passed on regulatory concerns. We will see. Chump or Champ, as usual, we will be the first to know!

Its been a year that i am an avid reader of this conversations because i am always after the updates of the project, people are getting negative of this project, and they said its a scam fork blah blah blah, when bitcoin was introduced, nobody believes, and its the same criteria here, let those people believe on what they believe, me, im still hoping for the best to this project, who knows this could be better, and when in fact, there was no ICO on this project, so whats the issue?

On this thread there's only one person calling it a scam and for no actual reason.
If someone suddenly bumps some altcoin up 5500% in a day and then dumps it, does that make that altcoin a scam? No.

Loose your money this is a scam just like everyone said lite coin forked but the owner of lite coin said no it did not

yep..this is why I'm not in...he should have simply at the beginning actually forked the coin..as a result it likely would be a lot more successful than it is now...

so makes a guy wonder don't it?
1073  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 16, 2019, 01:50:42 PM

Nobody can stop us from downloading a software that let us interact with other peers.
If they dont want to participate, they cant stop the rest of us

BTC will keep on running, one way or another..

go BTC go!

even a 'fake' twitter post saying Trump wanted or was pursuing banning Bitcoin would have a huge effect on price..even with say

his ADT and it went no place. I'd guess BTC would go down by 15% on such shenanigans and if an outright ban, well at least in the short term

at best BTC would be back about $3,200 again. IMHO. It likely would bounce back some on this new reality...but it would mightly suck.

the guy has too much sway in the media and folk freak out about his irrational actions, that would be some of the results and thus my guesses on above.

i did not try the wallet sins 2018

but have a question

if you wanna backup your own file on your own storage space

i mean by that can you buy your own contract  or you need 2 wallet to do this ?

no paper wallet

I've never gotten the siacoin wallet to work with the passphrase and tried 5x on 2 different machines

mine is now on a buddies yet (we split mining this stuff ..sold the obelisks what we had into for equip at the fork ..got lucky..this is just extra)

he claims now he can't get it to synch

I mean really you don't even have a frigging paper wallet that is legit?

yeah, the details lack on above and on what exactly they need being so far behind on the curve on their decentralized storage stuff

imho, they are making their money on equip printing imaginary sh*tcoins if such are attached supposedly price wise to the above equpment

so the siacoin i have I got nothing really in them....all profit from before i sold the equip back for what i have into it

but i mean really, no way to run a company

and remember the promises of 'build your own storage node and make money' yeah, right, Sad

Send me the miner. I’ll pay you when it arrives.

Ditto....I've run escrowed group buys before as well...see my profile....

you want to move product ..get two units out to us soonest and in say 5 days we say we have it and blamo

you are moving goods...

(this to me seems unlikely even with my trust rating)

but hey, suck it up works both ways...don't ya know Smiley

later

Brad

Should probably ask the seller to pay the escrow fee. That way they'll be out something if they don't deliver.

yep..also just everyone does escrow and if he delivers..no harm..no foul...he is golden as a bitcointalk user in the gaining of trust. as a result...

win/win ...if he does not deliver you pay the fee

for having a little bit of hope on the deal and the escrow...what the heck we all need a little hope...for a loss of the fee...

if he offers (or anyone) offers great deals and tries to convince you no escrow..well...that shows something to avoid as well...

I am not accusing anyone of scam's per se on this thread or the OP..I'm telling folk how you probably should approach this whole endeavor until

the OP gets some kinda track record with his NEWBIE status (though if legit no fault of his own)

due diligence don't ya know....if legit this is the path with trust rating for the OP to get a legitimate framework under his account for more such sales

you need a process...and the above process though not perfect is how I would approach this on this thread or any thread

brad
1078  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: S17e 64ths for sale Price 2500$ (shipping included with Escrow) on: September 14, 2019, 06:30:09 PM

Not saying the scam is this thread, but lately, scammers offering escrow do so for a few well know bitcointalk members...then...others say, hell, if

they are on board, when asked, they waive escrow....the original well know bitcointalk members also don't get the devices but do get their BTC back

via escrow and pay the modest fee...so not out anything. rinse/wash/repeat

just keep this in mind if you see folk do escrow through any sales thread...follow through on such and don't be talked out of such...at worst you will

not get the item and get all your BTC back minus the escrow fee

just a word of caution seen this scam on the altcoins thread and other places on bitcointalk

so ..again..just follow through on escrow on anything you buy on bitcointalk IMHO. Don't be talked out of it.

Also, PayPal CAN BE reversed, so don't assume that works either if they offer it as an alternative

later

brad

edit: that said, using escrow on this purchase thread hopefully will get you the items the OP mentioned and all is just dandy here. Not a slam of the OP.

Just folks should be aware.
1079  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IF Trump via Executive Order Banned Bitcoin, what are consequences if any? on: September 14, 2019, 03:12:38 AM
People are saying it won't have a negative effect on the price of bitcoin but I'm of the contrary opinion. I feel a lot of pressure will be put in the market which will trigger massive sell off resulting in bitcoin dumping.

Yeah, makes a guy wonder. Just one tweak away from him mentioning banning bitcoin, true or not, and we are down like $3k IMHO.

Just the clusterf*ck of someone just offhand tweeting something this silly with no intention of ever doing stuff would be enough. Too much irrationality

in current Trump Administration would magnify, unlikely to 'how the f*ck should I know if Trump is serious or not?

He has all that executive power that just don't give a f*ck, don't ya know. People would freak on a toss away tweet or even serious tweet in the same panic'd

manner IMHO.

I should probably sell some, for the hell of it. But what is the fun in that?

I figure at best I have 25 years left in life, if I don't HODL now and take chances well, will it really matter when I'm in the Nursing Home. So WTF. HODL.

So even an off-hand tweet stating he is considering banning bitcoin could have serious (hopefully short-term) ramifications.

Not like things are getting better politics wise. The whole setup is off the rails completely, far worse, than I ever expected the country to be at this point in time.

Whatever, in today's world, 'perception is reality' or at least till Trump would be 'distracted' by the next twitter rant, so it could get ugly indeed, again, short-term

I'd assume? That 'maybe' such a tweet/plan would die a slow (too slow) death eventually as a policy. But it would be... say an ugly month for crypto and bitcoin.
