1141  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: March 30, 2023, 08:56:36 PM
Well, I don't drink any alchohol while a few friends of mine love drinking very much. They would gather to have dinner/drink almost every day(at least four times a week). The average cost of such dinner/drinking is equivalent to 1/5 the average monthly income in the city where we live. So every month, the cost for these "gatherings" consumes all the income that a man can earn for months.
If the cost of dinner/drinking is equivalent to 1/5 average monthly income, I think your friends will broke after a week, how it's possible your friends can have a dinner/drinking for at least 16x times in a month, they are should in debt.

You can friend with them, but it doesn't mean you need to follow anything that your friends are doing, you need to independent and only do what you want to do. For me having a dinner/drinking for 4x times in a week is really wasting money, I will not follow their habit.
My point is if they are family men too, how will they be able to provide the needs of their family when most of their monthly income has been used in their drinking session? Actually, there’s no wrong drinking with your friends once or twice a month, but 4x a week, that’s totally a waste of money. Not only their finances will be in danger, but eventually their health too. However, it’s a good thing you always do what is right by not following your friends norms. You can be friend with them but never follow their drinking habit.
1142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman on: March 30, 2023, 12:38:55 PM
@LUCKMCFLY, I hope this news is not fake. It would be a huge disappointment if the fight does not happen after all the anticipation and hype surrounding it. Let's hope they ensure that the fight takes place this time. Otherwise, it would be a waste of effort and time, and many fans might lose interest in boxing altogether.
I agree, I wouldn't put too much emphasized on that news, because it's just another clickbait article from that news site although it just pertain to boxing. And I have check other boxing sites and there are no reports about the Spence vs Crawford fight, so I would refrain from posting that kind of news until either of the announced it publicly that they are going to fight. The first negotiation is messy and we are all expecting that it will happen, but it didn't as it broke down because of the financials of the fight. So it's better to wait first before we all get excited.
There have been rumors of these two boxers fighting in the past, but it has never come to fruition. Despite the constant hype, one of the fighters has been hesitant to risk his undefeated record. While they are both great boxers and among the best of their era, some fans may feel disappointed that they are not willing to take more risks.

However, we can still hope that with continued hype and interest, this potential matchup may happen in the future.

By the way, tomorrow marks Game 4 of the TNT versus Meralco match-up. TNT is currently favored at 1.16 odds, indicating that they are the clear favorite to win the game.

This could be the last game of the series as TNT has been dominant in Game 3, while Meralco was fortunate to win in Game 2 when TNT's import struggled. TNT will undoubtedly seize this opportunity, as losing would put them at risk of losing in Game 5. They need to go all-in tomorrow.

TNT has won by an average of 24.5 points, so I believe they will easily cover the current -9.5 spread.
1144  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 29, 2023, 11:50:56 AM

Channing Frye's TNT halftime prediction was spot on. That act of Draymond Green was a wake-up call for the Warriors and it was all worth the technical foul he received.
Congratulations to all the winners.

If Draymond Green gets another technical foul in the next game, he will be suspended. It would be a smart move if he could intentionally get a technical foul before the playoffs to avoid missing a playoff game. However, deliberately getting a technical foul is not allowed as it violates the rules of the game.

The Warriors will be hosting the Spurs in their next game, and it seems like an easy opponent.
1145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | POSTPONED on: March 29, 2023, 09:37:20 AM
This is excellent news for the upcoming fight. As a fan, I don't mind the postponement as long as we have a new date for the bout. With this update, we no longer have to worry about the fight's uncertainty. The mega fight is still on, and I just hope that Inoue's power has not been affected so he can display the same ferocity in the ring that we've seen before.

We cannot be too convinced until the contract has been signed. They have created hype in the past and left us hanging, so it could happen again. However, what we should appreciate now is that there is a green light once again. It appears that Spence has grown tired of the criticism that he backed out of Crawford's challenge, so perhaps he is attempting to prove us wrong.
1147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 29, 2023, 01:54:52 AM
We never know how long because they have not become champions yet. Maybe we have to wait for that to happen first before we discuss the possibility of an unification fight. If Donaire wins and Moloney wins their respective fights, then maybe promoters will be interested in making the fight happen. It could be considered a big fight, which means it will generate a lot of money.
The problem for Moloney is that even if ducking out Donaire at this time in a way makes sense, as there is no point to try so hard to push for a belt when the four of them are out there for anyone good enough to get one, so even if the fans are not happy with his decision we can understand it, however if both of them become champions and then he ducks Donaire again despite his age then that is the same as admitting as he does not think he has any chance against Donaire, and any benefits he may get from being a champion will evaporate.
Choosing to fight an opponent that he believes he can beat and then moving on to a unification fight with Donaire is a smart move for him. This is an easier path to take compared to going up against one of the best in this division, which could potentially put his chances of winning the belt at risk. Whatever his plan may be, it's a viable strategy, and hopefully, we'll see both fighters in action in the future.
1148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 29, 2023, 01:33:13 AM

The only bright spot here for SMB is that they have not been swept yet in a best-of-five series, per the article that I have read so if you will bet for SMB now, there's a chance for us to win but personally, I'm not going to bite that trivia, I mean I will not bet for them tonight.

Ginebra 2.44
SMB 1.54

Might be a trap for the fans of Ginebra but if you really are a Kings fanatic then the above odds is worth to try.

Good idea, let's not assume that either Ginebra or SMB will win just yet, as it's possible that the referees may influence the outcome. Although the odds for Ginebra are attractive, we should keep in mind that they are playing against a sister team, which could potentially manipulate the result.
1149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: March 28, 2023, 01:42:30 PM
But this does not mean that Nghitumbawa punches are weak too.  Making 11 of his 13 opponents kiss the canvas means the boxer has a deadly punching power.  So we should not underestimate the guy because his opponent is unknown.  Isn't Manny Pacquiao a not well-known boxer before he fights Ledwaba?
I understand, but it's really different because if you watch the replay of Nghitumbwa's fought, you will see his footwork is really weird and he almost slipped for few times due to bad footwork Tongue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mNVE3_dRKQ

But it's okay if you think Nghitumbwa might able to beat Casimero, the odds is really high if you bet Nghitumbwa to win in this fight. This reminds me the fight between Rolando Romero vs Gervonta Davis, Romero was a KO artist but he got KO'ed by Davis.

The stats alone are not the right basis for predicting the winner of this fight. Honestly, it's my first time hearing the name Nghitumbwa, but Casimero has been popular even before he moved up. However, it's okay if some think that Nghitumbwa might beat Casimero, as that's their personal opinion. Besides, we never know the outcome of a future fight.

Although this may not be a tough challenge, Casimero is still considering it a big fight. If he loses against Nghitumbwa, there will be no reason for him to continue fighting as his dreams will be too far to achieve.

Casimero needs to remain disciplined, and eventually he will get a big fight, maybe even challenging the champion, hopefully Inoue. Inoue's fight against Fulton was postponed due to his injury, but I'm optimistic that it will happen this year.

Casimero is no stranger to fighting KO artists. In fact, he likes it because it allows him to show his counter-punching ability that can result in a KO of his opponent. If odds are already available, I would go for Casimero winning via KO, maybe between rounds 1-3.
1150  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 28, 2023, 01:06:30 PM
Game tomorrow, and we have the following betting odds.

SMB 1.75 vs Ginebra 1.97
This is the game where I think Ginebra will not give SMB a chance to win anymore. The odds are probably just a gift, as Ginebra is a slight underdog despite their very dominant performance in Game 2. I don't really understand how bookies arrive at these odds because if we are not thinking of the refs' possible intervention on the outcome, SMB should be at least +5.5 now.

TNT 1.25 vs Bolts 3.55

If TNT's import is still not at 100%, then I guess Meralco might have a chance to upset TNT. I will just wait for the live game and probably bet on Meralco if they show the same confidence they had in Game 2.
1151  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | Unified WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | May 7 on: March 25, 2023, 03:47:34 PM
Before that, we are not even sure that Casimero will pass the weigh-in against Butler.

There was a possibility that Casimero would fail to make the required weight, which is why he violated the rules. He was too desperate to make weight. However, both Inoue and Casimero have moved up now, and there is a chance they will meet again. Casimero needs to ensure that he improves his ranking so he can become the top challenger for Inoue once Inoue becomes a champion.

Inoue's camp seems avoiding Casimero because if they want to make this fight to happen then they will mot create any drama and let this fight happen. But it seems that their promoter doesn't want to gamble the clean record of their fighter so they jump to other opponent. But if Casimero will get another belt maybe Inoue cannot escape and can make this fight happen. For now Casimero need to spend more efforts to get big fights so that he may have a belt to bet on this possible match up.

That should be Casimero's goal now. They haven't met in the bantamweight division, so they need to take action in the super bantamweight. I think that's what the fans are asking for. They want to see if Casimero is really at par with Inoue since he was trash-talking Inoue when he was still the champion.

Casimero has been quiet nowadays, maybe because he is no longer a champion, so he needs to start winning fights to get a chance to face Inoue in a championship fight. As a fan, I would to see that happen as the other side of me believe that Casimero could upset Inoue.
1152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Shakur Stevenson vs Shuichiro Yoshino April 8 on: March 25, 2023, 03:12:37 PM

Upset still possible but I can be more biased here since byt stats and by capabilities Shakur do have a huge advantage.

Not unless if Yoshino will get that lucky opening and throw a KO punch that will bring Shakur in the floor.

The chances of Stevenson getting knocked out are very low because we know how careful of a boxer he is. According to his stats, he is not a KO artist and yet remains undefeated. This means that he does not take unnecessary risks by going toe to toe and instead relies on his advantage, which is his quickness. Therefore, it is possible for him to get KOed, but the chances are close to none.
His quickness and boxing IQ and I would say that the also possesses a decent speed and power. But he likes to work against his opponent, soften then up with body shots and his jab and maybe knock them down, but not knock out.

That's why we love to see him against fighter with his same caliber like Haney or Loma. This fight against Valdez is like a example on how to fight a boxer with power and he just dominated Oscar on that fight.

That's his strength - he is not a careless fighter and does not underestimate his opponent. Although he is capable of knocking out his opponent, he understands that one mistake could possibly risk his record, and he cannot maintain his undefeated status. I haven't seen him fight against a tough challenger yet, so you are right, he might be a great challenge for Loma and Haney.

Quote
The Japanese could be his test int his new division.
It's a test but not a tough one, I would say.
1153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 25, 2023, 02:42:22 PM
@LUCKMCFLY, Of course, promoters will go after Donaire as he is a very exciting fighter. This means he can sell the fight and it will result in a profitable event. However, we don't know how long Donaire will continue boxing because he is already 40 years old, which is considered retirement age for most boxers.

This is his comeback fight after a disappointing loss to Inoue.

He should come back strong, and that means he has to win by KO.
1154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 25, 2023, 02:14:25 PM
Here are the betting odds for tomorrow's games:

Meralco vs TNT: -5.5
SMB vs Ginebra: -2.5

There has been a significant change in the odds for the TNT vs Meralco game. Initially, TNT was favored by only -3.5 points, but due to their blowout win, the odds have moved slightly. I am now enticed to bet on TNT as I believe they will win by double digits.

I like the TNT spread more because it's high. We will likely see a repeat of the same result in Game 1, as Meralco's import is struggling and is very inconsistent. Moreover, we know that Meralco's local players are not as good as TNT's. Therefore, I believe that -5.5 is an easy spread for TNT to cover.

As for the second game, I am still doubtful as SMB was able to mount a big comeback in Game 1 after a huge deficit, they still have a chance to even the series.
1155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 25, 2023, 11:34:12 AM

Consistency had always been the problem for Poole and then the mistakes. It's getting lesser so Steve Kerr might be a little happy now.

In the game against the 76ers, Poole was very effective. He wasn't careless and didn't try to take over the ball from Curry. Instead, he waited for opportunities and played his role well. Poole will eventually mature as a player, and with his championship experience, I'm sure he has already improved a lot and will play even better in the coming playoffs.

The 76ers were missing Harden, while the Warriors were missing Wiggins. It was a fair game for me, and in fact, it was a close game. It was just that the Warriors executed their plays well in the 4th quarter. Honestly, I thought the Warriors would not be able to cover the spread, but I was happy they did.
1156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 25, 2023, 11:01:12 AM
Yeah, when their lead was cut, I thought that they are done. But Dennis Schröder started to take matters in his own hand. And it was said that he also had a good game against OKC the last time. Him and AD had connection in the final quarter that made them take that very important win. Lonnie shooting high percentage was also one of the factors.

That was actually a close game, although OKC trailed for most of the time, the Lakers' lead was still manageable. Dennis Schröder was the key to their win with his offense and assist to AD. With him on the floor, everything looked easy for the Lakers.

Joel Embiid was unstoppable against the Warriors, but it was too much on him, when he go to the bench, the Warriors will go on a run. And I guess it's simply for them, let the big guy score and stop everyone. Maxey and Harris are the only 2 players for the Sixers to score in double digits. While the Warriors has a balance attack with 5 players.

Embiid vs the Warriors was the reason why the 76ers could not win because they were very predictable. Although they dominated the paint, the Warriors' good ball movement allowed them to have a good run that became the turning point of the game. Additionally, credit should be given to Draymond Green's defense, as he was very effective and worked hard in that game.
1157  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: March 24, 2023, 11:06:49 AM
That's right, I watched that too because Donaire is like Pacquiao, his left fist punched hard and really hit his opponent and if he was crushed, it would be hard for his opponents to get up.

So I think that even with his age, his opponent should not be complacent even if it is said that he is younger than Donaire because when it comes to experience, Donaire is more for sure. He had received more blows than someone younger than him.

But Donaire is not as quick as Pacman. He may have the power of Pacman, but I don't think he has Pacman's quickness and stamina. What Donaire has is timing. He is good at timing his punches, which is why most of the opponents he has beaten were knocked out due to his great counterpunching ability.

That's true, you cannot compare Donaire to Pacman as Pacman is too special. He lost to Ugas, but after that, he could still fight, but he chose to declare his retirement because he was busy with politics. As for Donaire, he does not have any involvement in politics, so he is focused on his boxing career. We just have to wait for the outcome of this fight and maybe conclude that Donaire is old if he loses. But until that happens, let's expect the same Donaire who is a dominant boxer.
Yeah, too very different animal in the ring, Manny rely on his God given talent of speed and power combine and his ability to go up in weight without any issues whatsoever. As compare to Nonito who rely more on his timing and counter punching and developing one of the best left hook that we have seen in the last decade or so. I still remember him cracking Montiel with perfect left hook and Montiel on the floor was a scary thing to witnessed and after that it was reported that Montiel suffered a hairline crack in his jaw. That's how powerful that left hook of Nonito is during his prime.
Actually, he can still knock out his opponent as long as he stays in a weight class that he is comfortable with. The good thing about this division is that he has a height advantage, which makes him very effective against smaller opponents, just like in his past fights, as you mentioned, such as Montiel.

Donaire becoming a champion again is not hard to imagine as he is up against a challenger who is lower than his rank. However, would he stay longer fighting his challengers once he becomes a champion? I think he will not and might retire as a champion if he does not move up to a higher weight division.

-     Most people know that the fight is fake and it's all just acting and as you said it's really just for entertainment purposes.

So my answer is that I will not bet on a game that already knows who will win. I was too stupid to do that, sorry for these words, I'm just being true and honest with my feelings. But if for others they are entertained, well it's their choice anyway.

In my opinion, sportsbooks do not offer odds on this type of fight. While sports are primarily for entertainment purposes, this one is obviously scripted, which means that the organizers already know who will win. With that knowledge, it would be easier for them to bankrupt the sportsbook.

Maybe you can bet with your friends, but not on online sportsbook.
