1221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you read about crypto? Favorite sources? on: March 31, 2020, 09:59:32 PM
Reddit is generally one of the best sources out there to read real news about crypto. Reddit isn't exactly the one writing the article but their Subreddit do provide news articles that are highly accurate and don't provide secondary news sources which are mainly coming from crypto news websites. Some users are the ones doing the curating for you which is really nice to see and aside from that other members also join the conversation in the posts so you'll see their side on the news. Just take a look at r/Bitcoin or r/Cryptocurrency and you'll mainly see good articles related to the topic.
1222  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Ethereum Fire- Plagiarized Whitepaper on: March 31, 2020, 09:10:14 PM
This is surely a scam they aren't even showing any information for their team both on their website as well as their plagiarized whitepaper. Their whitepaper cannot even be called as a whitepaper as it looks like a presentation made from Powerpoint which is really humorous to see. It's a good thing that they don't have an ANN thread here yet and I'm surely gonna wait for it so that I can report it back to the DT members.
1223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some corona related domains we should avoid. (Warned by DCP Cybercrime) on: March 31, 2020, 07:41:33 PM
I think that we should all agree that knowing the list of COVID-19 related scams is not the most effective way of avoiding in falling one of them. Knowing the list and simply not knowing how the scam/fraud works is still being unprotected against these types of illicit activities. Currently COVID-19 related scams are ranging from phishing links and now to even robocalls so you should essentially know how these types of scams work and know how to prevent them. You should also be aware that any type of website/text message/call/email asking for money, information, username and password should already make you aware that these are most likely a scam waiting to happen.
1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are calling projects as scam when they are in a bear market? on: March 31, 2020, 06:36:50 PM
It's funny to think that even old cryptocurrencies become a "scam" when it is the bear market. I remembered it during the 2017 bull run and when Bitcoin suddenly plummeted you'll see a lot of people saying Bitcoin is a bubble and Bitcoin is a "scam" especially in this forum where you will see a lot of newbies throwing tantrums of how they lost their money because of it being a scam. You'll see a lot of this type of person when the market is red as they have nothing left to blame from their own mistakes but the project itself since the only thing they did is believe in it when the prices have already taken off. Hype is basically what killed their money and I really won't worry about the noise they are creating in the market since they have zero experience in it.
1225  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Telegram Group Inc on: March 31, 2020, 05:28:53 PM
Given the growth of Telegrams, they will be faster in the top. Moreover, after the introduction of their own cryptocurrency, they break ahead with a huge margin! Cool

If you have been reading their court ruling right now you'll see that they may not even have the chance to launch their crypto because the SEC have found or labelled their crypto as a security token rather than a utility token which in this case they have offered it illegally since the court ruled in favor the the SEC's finding. Now they are facing a dilemma about how they will still issue it to non-us investors since it is part of GRAM being labelled as a security token and with that it also applies a ban to non-US investors, the Non-US investors would only receive their GRAMS if they won't resell them to the US market which will be a hard thing to do especially if there are no other international exchange around who will allow the exchange of GRAMS.
1226  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk blocked from Russia on: March 31, 2020, 04:10:10 PM
Just an update regarding this issue and I think it is confirmed that the Russian government have blacklisted Bitcointalk.org from their country. I used this website of the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) to see if the domain name of Bitcointalk.org is blacklisted or not. What makes me wonder is the "authorization date" of the blacklisting since the order was way back 2017 and our Russian members are only reporting it now, the blacklist might just have taken full effect when this started.

1227  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Promotional for bitcoin on: March 31, 2020, 02:46:47 PM
Just a question about what type of educational video will you be teaching. Will you have a type of video where you'll just be teaching purely animated videos with illustrations and someone voicing over the video? Or will you have a literal person in your video teaching all of your illustrations? Because I would really prefer the latter as it would really be different compared to what the usual videos we have been seeing especially on technical analysis videos found in Youtube. I also think that the latter is more lively as compared to just seeing illustrations in an animated video.
1228  Economy / Reputation / Re: Using Sock-Puppet Accounts: MarketPeak Thread on: March 30, 2020, 09:23:18 PM
~snip
I don't think that makes much difference really, whether they are doing it by themselves or they hired someone as their end goal is the same-hype the project so some naive noob will think that there is real interest for this project, therefore invest and eventually loose all the money. And they are indeed sockpuppet accounts.

From what i can see, all accounts used in that thread are made back in 2018/2019, so Marketpeak most likely hired some bumping service as that's their usual M.O, using old accounts with barely any  previous activity. All those posts should be reported imho and this thing cut at the root, so maybe they give up.

Yeah that is what I am telling, I'm not really here to argue about the project and shilling that is happening in that thread because it is pretty evident. I'm just telling at the OP that there is a possibility that they are using a bumping service rather than have created sock-puppet accounts on their own since the ones questioning and doing some shill are accounts older than MarketPeak so it only tells us that these accounts are maybe coming from a bumping service.
1229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 30, 2020, 08:23:00 PM
...what then could have led to the bankruptcy ? mismanagement ?
The article mentions that the clubs main revenue comes from the sale of their players abroad. Now, with the COVID-19 virus and all the uncertainty it's unlikely they will be able to land important transfers. They still have to pay salaries to their players, management and all other club employees, but they have no income. Neither from ticket sales, sponsors, or TV right since all matches are suspended.

To add their owner isn't really that rich compared to the clubs part of the top 4 leagues in the Champions League it's quite possibly what Pmalek has said and that their main source of revenue was cut off because of the suspension. Although I never seen this coming from a club who have finished 2nd place in their league and made quite a lot of money by selling Robert Bozenik in terms of their league standard. Don't get me wrong but the owner is rich but he might just rather lose his club rather than add more cash on a business that isn't generating anything back for him.
1230  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking to Hire Crypto Trader on: March 30, 2020, 06:46:46 PM
Would you really trust another person with your own crypto trading account just for the sake of that other person be trading for a project? I mean besides the crypo trading part of your account he also has control of your deposits and withdrawals, he can technically steal your money anytime he wanted to do so since he has full control with it. He can even do illegal activities from your account without you having any knowledge with it which is really dangerous. Think about the cons here and how much it outweighs the pros and you will see it is not worth the risk to hire someone to take control over your account.
1231  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic crisis is Hoax? COVID19 Not Deadliest one! on: March 30, 2020, 06:01:42 PM
I really don't mixed up conspiracy theories with facts but if you are up to something here like you are trying to say that COVID-19 is a hoax and there is already a vaccine at hand I still won't believe you, why? In this case where even politicians and people with monarchy are getting hit by the Coronavirus at least at this stage they have announced the cure by now since even people at the higher ups or the ones on top of the food chain are also getting hit with it, which in this case is not. You may think that the Coronavirus is is something started to cause a economic breakdown but the truth is any pandemic globally like this can really cripple an economy with lockdowns in places, works suspended, jobs are lost you don't really expect all the market are at green at this moment. Panic combined with financial lost is really the ones affecting the market not just because of a conspiracy theory you have read in a forum or somewhere.
1232  Economy / Reputation / Re: Using Sock-Puppet Accounts: MarketPeak Thread on: March 30, 2020, 04:14:33 PM
@OP are you sure that they are just alt accounts (sock-puppet accounts) of the user and they aren't just paying a bumping service just to create this fake buzz? Because based from what I have seen before some bumping services also work this way and they create this fake conversations just to keep the thread on top when there was no bumping system way back. Posting style are also the same and they are posting this questions and some information about the service/project which can also be found on bumping services.
1233  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [2019-02-06] Locked bitcoins in QuadrigaCX might be another exit scam. on: March 30, 2020, 02:17:43 PM
~snip~

Why is the CRA demanding this data if not to use it against QuadrigaCX customers? They are a tax agency. They aren't investigating the site owners or trying to help the victims. They are here to collect tax money.

Like I said it's either a delaying tactic done by either them or the lawyers of QuadrigaCX and even if they will find something incriminating against them with the handed out information it will be rendered inadmissible in any kind of court since they can't use it as evidence against them in the first place. If they found some discrepancies with their earnings using that information I doubt the CRA would even have the power to do anything about that since the case is already about them recovering their lost capital.

This is the type of reaction that bring users in trouble, I reckon. It can and will be used against you. Also, whatever can go wrong, will go wrong. It will also not be the first time.

The users here really don't have any choice left since that information is something the CRA has asked for. Right now I wouldn't assume that this is something that they will be using against the customers and the CRA might even see something useful in the data to see some dirt against QuadrigaCX and not against their customers.
1234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people here would choose bitcoin as their form of payment? on: March 29, 2020, 09:37:39 PM
I'll still prefer to use my cash if I still have fiat currencies to use, why? Even if we remove every problem Bitcoin will be facing from slow transactions, stores not accepting it, and to it being illegal I'll still prefer to use my cash first because in my own personal views I consider Bitcoin as my asset not some kind of quick cash I'll be happy to spend every time. If it weren't for the volatility and the potential gains I'll be having with it I'll be happy to spend it just like cash but that is not the case. Assets (besides cash) are not meant to be spent right away since you will just be wasting the opportunity to earn from it. I know that Bitcoin's purpose was to be an alternative to cash payments and to eliminate middlemen but the thing is Bitcoin is now even more compared to that and I'm happy that I treat BTC as an asset.
1235  Economy / Exchanges / Re: influences of the trading volume? on: March 29, 2020, 08:31:29 PM
how to know what influences the trading volume of a cryptocurrency over 24 hours?

Technical analysis is the only answer here and I don't think you have any other options left beside that and the news that can also influence the demand for the market both of which are the best ways in terms of accurately predicting the volume it will have. Although technical analysis isn't really about predicting the traded volume of a cryptocurrency I think it's a better way to do so since if you have predicted the price movement right you know what kind of volume it will have together with that price action. As for a source of information I think tradingview's webpage for each crypto like BTC or ETH has a good way of providing analysis from other members part of their community.
1236  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Trading crypto coach still scamming people. on: March 29, 2020, 06:32:16 PM
I am a member of this channel may be from more than one year. But don't follow any signal just watched. And a few days ago I have seen the channels marked as Scam Officially by telegram. After then the guy tries to transfer the followers to another channel. Today he also posted and ask people to join that group.

What an awful approach made by Telegram, after they labeled and identified it as a scam they should at least blocked the access to anyone to send more additional post in that channel. What they did is they allowed the scammer some time to transfer some if not most of hist victims to his new channel.  Telegram should have deleted the channel right away and just notify the members that the channel they were part in was a scam pump and dump group. We should be reporting the new channel as well so that we prevent this scammer on scamming more people in buying shitcoins. I did the honor on reporting the new channel as a scam channel, his new channel already has 4,000+ members.
1237  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [2019-02-06] Locked bitcoins in QuadrigaCX might be another exit scam. on: March 29, 2020, 05:16:53 PM
I don't see this as a bad thing for the users of QuadrigaCX. The company is just giving already known information from this users to a different department and even if they have found something like discrepancies in their earnings I don't think they can be used against them. For one the money is earned from that exchange is already lost and two they can't use evidence or even they found out something new with that information as evidence against you as it is inadmissible in the court of law. So really what I'm seeing now is either they are delaying the case or they are just throwing trash to their taxing department which isn't really new on court cases.
1238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make a good Announcement for a new token? on: March 29, 2020, 02:41:56 PM
~snip

Thanks for your reply and for your concern about giveaway we posted.

90% of all people that joined giveaway know what cryptocurrency is but we are in any case going to update Medium with details about our token before Giveaway ends. There is also White Paper in the making and with Questions we posted in Bitcointalk we are trying to gather a little knowledge from community in Bitcointalk to present Tantum Digital in best possible light when we make Announcement.

That's not my point, you created your first announcement and it is a giveaway announcement which failed to even highlight what your cryptocurrency is all about. You are just their in medium creating your first post for your crypto project yet you failed to tell about anything what Tantum Digital is, to make things worst you just posted a giveaway for it without you explaining what is even the purpose for your crypto. I hope that you don't take this the wrong way and I'm not really here to criticize your project but you are here asking for an opinion about what you will do for you to have a "good" announcement and I'm just here telling that your first post in Medium is really a bad move for someone introducing their crypto in the market.
1239  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk blocked from Russia on: March 28, 2020, 10:05:26 PM
I just saw this Blow To Bitcoin As Russia Moves To Effectively Ban Crypto, but it will not happen so soon.

Well that's an odd thing to see because it feels like the Russian Government took a wrong turn an go to the opposite direction again. I've seen news before this that they were preparing a bill in favor of cryptocurrencies and now they suddenly changed their minds and ban the buying and selling of crypto entirely. But I won't still be jumping into any conclusions right now not until someone in the local board of Russia confirms that this news is true and that Bitcointalk is really blacklisted in their country.
1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Corona Virus has killed all cryptocurrency spaces! on: March 28, 2020, 09:07:50 PM
This virus will not last long, it's only a matter of time, even many scientists are competing to find the corona vaccine. looking back, if I'm not mistaken in 2008 the swine flu is more terrible with the corona virus but can be cured. so believe that the crypto market can recover after the corona problem is over.

We don't know that for sure, right now USA suddenly became the number 1 country who has the most confirmed cases and the death count is catching, the virus in US is infecting so fast that they have now surpassed China in terms of the number of confirmed infections. I'm also seeing news that the COVID-19 has a higher chance of mutating which means finding a cure at this early stages seems to be impossible at the moment. Now in terms of the market recovering this might not be still the time to jump in and buy/add some more position since the market might still fall depending on how this situation worsens so I think it's best to just wait and see if how the market will play out from this point forward.
