1361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CORONAVIRUS IMPACT ON SPORTS GAMBLING on: March 19, 2020, 10:13:14 AM
Since a lot of users here are staying at home due to the virus, we cannot gamble outside or go to casinos or even bet with sports since there's no sports event at all. But what I do for now is I focus on learning about trading rather than finding alternatives to gambling. But if you really want to gamble, you can go to online casinos. But if you're not into like that and you prefer sports betting, I think the best you can do as an alternative is e-sports betting. I don't know if it fits everyone's taste but that's one of the choices you have right now if you want to bet.

I still do online gambling sometimes but since the market is down, instead of using it to gamble, I'm using my extra money to invest in crypto. I also do e-sports betting with my friends. Since our community is in quarantine, we cannot go outside so to spend some time inside the house, we play online games and make a bet for more thrill.

1362  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Altcoins hodler on: March 19, 2020, 08:21:54 AM

1363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Theft on: March 18, 2020, 06:14:44 PM
Two Canadian were imprisoned for 2 years after being caught from stealing 23.2 bitcoin in Twitter for scamming someone back in 2017. According to the US Department of Justice, 23-year-old Karanjit Khatar and 24-year-olds Jagroop Khatkar are two Canadian that were sentenced to imprisonment for laundering money and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Back in 2017 using the Twitter platform, scammers impersonated customer service of HitBTC (a Hong Kong-based crypto exchange) with a username of @HitBTCAssist. They responded to a question concerning the withdrawal process and the two were able to convince the Oregon resident to forward sensitive information which leads the scammers to transfer an amount of 23.2 bitcoin to their wallet. During the time of the theft, the amount was about $130,000.

After receiving that amount of bitcoin, the two divided the money into equal parts and within just two days, Karanjit was able to purchase a luxury car of Mercedes Benz and was able to gamble in high-end casinos in Las Vegas. Karanjit was arrested in the airport in July 2019 and the two pleaded guilty in December.

This is a lesson for each and every one of us that we shouldn't be trusting everyone here on the internet. It's easy to create a Twitter account and act as if you're a legit account so we should really be careful when sharing private information (we shouldn't do that in the first place). They may look like a real account but of course, it's what they need to fool people. There is a high risk of getting scammed on the internet especially if they know that you have cryptocurrency. Scam and fraud are very common in this field so we should really be careful with our assets. We should know whether to trust someone or not.

I have already seen a lot of news like this and I'm sharing it with everyone to avoid being one of them. We wouldn't want to lose big amounts and our hard-earned money, right? If we were able to learn how to earn money, we should also learn how to keep that money safe from scammers. Let's learn from what kind of news we are seeing.

It's just sad to think that the scammer used the money for his own good. He manages to buy and do the things he wants. He lives in a luxury life using the money he didn't earn. If that was my money, I don't know what to do anymore. But gladly that they were already caught. Although I don't know if two years was enough as a punishment (aside from the fine). After two years they can still repeat scamming others.

PS: I'm not posting this to promote the site, I just want to share the news with everyone. Thank you!
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Store your bitcoin on: March 18, 2020, 03:59:49 PM
The crypto markets will rise again after several months says who? Your crystal ball?

No one knows and all the predictions about the rising price of bitcoin or the rising of the crypto market are just a theory that has a low chance that will come true. Even there's is no Covid19 we all aware of the situation of the crypto market which no one can predict on what will be the next movement of it. Because of this Covid19, it devastated the different markets and, we are not sure about after this pandemic the price of every cryptocurrency on the market will start to recover.

I'm aware the big dump on the market in the past few days already effect many holders (most of them is now have big losses) and if we going to defeat the virus that we face right now, is there a chance that the market will lift? or it will remain in that kind of situation. Then, I guess at this point all of us are now storing our cryptocurrency or simply we will hold it until the price recovers and gonna sell it out on the best time.
1365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Things you shouldn't do when gambling at casino this time... on: March 18, 2020, 10:51:39 AM
That is why I don't really like going to a physical casino is because the environment is very different from my personality. Although I like gambling, I don't like having to interact with all those gamblers and I know that most physical casino gamblers are from a rich and higher class so I don't really like interacting with them. What you have listed is actually some reasons why I don't gamble there and prefer gambling online. I don't smoke, drink too much, and do drugs not even carry firearms. And I never want to get involved with someone's relationship.

Lastly, all casinos and recreational activities in my country are prohibited as of now due to the pandemic. And even without pandemic, I will go for an online casino.

Dapat no need to panic talaga.
1367  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simple Guide on Bitcointalk on: March 18, 2020, 06:02:14 AM
It's the basic thing you need to know after entering the forum. You can't earn and be successful if you do not know about what you are doing. Try looking at the different boards and sections then it follows by learning. You can actually learn so much in this forum from other users. You can't invest if you don't have enough knowledge about crypto.

Your guideline is fine but I think it needs more explanation on the three steps before success. Like what they need to explore and learn. Also, how should they invest? You can actually discuss that further for newbies who are seeking for help. But nonetheless, your guideline is enough it just needs enhancement.
1368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Las Vegas closes casinos and hotels in lieu of coronavirus on: March 17, 2020, 11:29:10 AM
As a gambler, I would rather not gamble than suffer for a long time. I don't know but I don't feel any pain just because I can't gamble. But they are only doing this for the community and to prevent the virus from spreading even more. So it's not like we're gonna die if we cannot gamble. Yes, for those who are really having a hard time without gambling, the online casino is your best choice for now. With online gambling, you can still play without physically interacting with other gamblers so it's much safer for everyone. Right now technology is really playing a vital role for everyone. Not only in terms of gambling but in other cases like works, classes because of suspension and lockdown that other countries are experiencing right now.

Everyone is affected. And if you feel bored staying at home, you can gamble online to find yourself anything to do. But don't forget to make sure that the site you're playing is a legit and trusted one. Btw, keep safe everyone.
1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do not be fooled on: March 17, 2020, 09:31:13 AM
Coronavirus is the reason why market is in very bad shape, it will be very stupid to exit because of this while others are making good choice presently, many are already saying it's the end for crypto but the fact is Bitcoin died several times in the past and it's still alive today, do not be fooled by those who don't understand the technology

I don't know why they people tell that it's going to end and I'm sure all of us are aware of this kind of market which sometimes we will experience bearish market. We can't blame them if they going to exit now because sometimes they totally need money especially right now we have been facing this pandemic. If you going to exit now and it's because of a sudden maybe you are not suited for this kind of investment and you simply have a weak heart which you can even handle this situation.

The best option that we can do right now is to hold our coins and just remain calm. Don't ever get panic because you just see the big dump on the market and always remember it's normal to happen. Kindly just use this opportunity to full our bags with the best cryptocurrency.
Pero with the help of translation, mas maiintindihan nila compare kapag English.
1371  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona has killed economy of many businesses on: March 16, 2020, 01:46:49 PM
We never thought this corona will be so viral and disastrous and even I have mentioned in my previous posts downplaying the seriousness of Corona but now it has collapsed economy of many businesses except pharmacy business which have seen a spike as most of the stocks are out of stock but the restaurant and other daily operational business like tours and travel agency, malls, other event-based business, and meat shops are closed and going through massive loss.

Based on what I see many establishments in our city are now close and it also because of the Corona Virus. This virus is very devastating aside from bringing down one's economy it already kills thousands of people. This pandemic is also brought down the price of different cryptocurrency and to be honest, it really hurt my eyes whenever I see the notification on my phone that bitcoin is down and I'm sure some of the holders of bitcoin is now also facing massive loss. IMO, The longer it gets to formulate a vaccine for the virus, the higher the chance that the economy will fall especially if the country is in lockdown.

How long will it last? What's the antidote for Corona?
Right now there's still no cure or antidote but what we can do is to strengthen our immune system. That's the best we can do. Because I've read somewhere that you're own body is fighting the virus so you just need to have a strong and healthy body. Always remember to do proper hygiene and take vitamins.
1372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why there are so many people who get addicted on gambling? on: March 16, 2020, 11:19:47 AM
We all have different tastes when it comes to what we find entertaining. For some, they don't find it entertaining but we do. We are aware that when we are gambling, we are putting our money on the risk. We are gambling because we are ready to take the risk and we know there's something we can earn in exchange for that risk.

All gambling addicts started with just a small interest in earning money but because of greed, their interest grows that they cannot control it anymore. That's why I keep on saying that before we gamble, we should learn to control ourselves and emotion because, without it, it will lead us to addiction. I must say I know how to limit myself that's why even though I gambling, I can still control myself and I am not addicted to it.
1373  Local / Pilipinas / Re: COVID-19 at ang market. on: March 16, 2020, 08:26:44 AM

1374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Woman Funding ISIS With Bitcoin on: March 16, 2020, 06:44:37 AM
Even though he was banned from using the service, he was never sentenced to jail or anything.
Jesus, I can't believe ISIS has or had a tipping service, especially since you can be sure authorities from all over the world would be monitoring it.

I wasn't aware of this story, so thanks to OP for posting it--but these are the types of stories that give bitcoin and other cryptos a black eye as far as the general masses are concerned, i.e., the masses who don't think about things critically and wouldn't conclude that the funding could have been done with fiat or any other thing that has value.

I'm kind of surprised her prison sentence was that light (though I'm sure it doesn't feel that way for her), but women usually don't get punished as severely in the legal system as men do.

Also had the same thing on my mind. I feel like the punishment was kinda light for funding a terrorist group who can kill group of people and is an enemy of the government. And I'm wondering if her defense was enough for a light punishment. I ain't wanting the worst for her but just because she's doing charity work, she was able to decreased her sentenced years. What if after 13 years, she will continue to fund ISIS again?

However, it is another reason for the authorities to be strict with cryptocurrency as it is their way to fund and support ISIS.

As said, crypto is just a tool. And with other correct tools bitcoin can be (and is!) tracked, hence she was caught.
I don't know why authorities should be more strict with crypto than with cash, for example. They should actually just treat crypto in the same way as money and the other means of payment.

Since decentralized crypto can't be controlled by the government, it's much harder for them to monitor it than the cash that they're the one providing the community. And with crypto transactions it's also harder to track than paper money. And it won't be that suspicious if you transfer big amount of money with crypto unlike cash.
1375  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are u buying alts? on: March 15, 2020, 01:37:02 PM
Due to the condition of the market maybe this will be a good time to enter or to reinvest again. We are all aware of the sudden big dump on the market and I guess some of us right now have already refilled our bags with different cryptocurrencies. To be honest, the money that I saved, I already used it in buying other cryptocurrency and the profit that I have gained in the signature campaign is now allocated on buying our needs like the foods and other necessities.

If you're going to buy now make sure you will not forget to invest in bitcoin (or try to make this as your primary investment), then try to look in the Coinmarketcap and choose among the top-performing altcoins and if you're going to ask me what coins are good to buy now, I highly recommend to buy Ethereum and Binance Coin.

Yeah, I'm buying alts now because I think they can make more profit than bitcoin, only worth investing in a few alts.

For me, bitcoin will still profitable cryptocurrency as long your target is long term investment. AFAIK, there's some altcoin that only suited for short term investment that's why you think it can bring you more profit than bitcoin, but if you going to hold bitcoin for a long period of time I'm pretty sure you will end up on earning ton amount of profit.
1376  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Gaano ba kahalaga? on: March 15, 2020, 11:45:37 AM

1377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] COVID-19 Hits Ethereum Community Conference, Six People Test Positive on: March 15, 2020, 08:10:03 AM
It's totally sad to hear and maybe the rest of the conference right now should be postponed so we can avoid more people who can get infected by this virus. I don't know if they heard that most of the crypto conferences in ASIA got cancel and it's because of this virus and I don't know why they are not aware of this. Is there any information about how many people gathered at the conference? because we don't know if there are 6 people who got infected (but I hope the rest are not infected) and maybe those people who didn't get affected also need to be quarantined for their safety.

We need to avoid crowded places like going to conferences and it's better to postpone those events and resume it after we defeated this VIRUS. And, I agree with @CryptopreneurBrainboss, if they really want to continue the conference maybe they can hold it online, video conferencing. Hoping for the fast recovery of people who got infected and stay safe guys.
1378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / US Woman Funding ISIS With Bitcoin on: March 15, 2020, 06:54:22 AM
A woman, Zoobia Shahnaz of Long Island was sentenced to jail for 13 years for laundering money to fund ISIS using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Department of Justice stated that she was working to fund ISIS through crypto payments for over $150,000 and is working to move to Syria to be part of ISIS.

In order for her to fund money, Shahnaz defrauded banks and secured loans and credit cards under false pretenses to buy cryptocurrency. Back in July 2017, she was on her way to travel to Syria but officials prevented her from boarding her flight in New York City. She was then arrested in 2017.

She was pleaded guilty in 2018 however because of her motives of volunteering and medical aid for refugees in Syria via Syrian American Medical Society she was sentenced to 13 years in prison. If she doesn't have any history or motives of any charitable works she could have been sentenced up to 110 years in prison.

The sentencing memorandum continued to highlight Shahnaz’s history of charitable work:

Quote
“Unlike the79 Americans identified in the study who traveled to Syria and/or Iraq since 2011 and affiliated with jihadist groups active in those countries, none were motivated by the same things that drove Zoobia Shahnaz. That is, a desire to heal the sick and care for the wounded.”

Source:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-woman-funding-isis-with-bitcoin-gets-13-year-jail-sentence

Although she was funding ISIS, due to her charitable work, her defense worked that her sentenced years decreased. However, it is another reason for the authorities to be strict with cryptocurrency as it is their way to fund and support ISIS. If this is their way to get funded, for sure other terrorist groups we're also going the same to get funds without getting tracked by the government.

It's not surprising to us that cryptocurrency is getting involved in this kind of transactions but this could only bring fear and doubt to the public if they keep on hearing negative news related to cryptocurrency. Maybe it's one of the major reasons why the government is trying to seize bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because it can be used for illegal transactions like this. What can you say about it?

PS: I'm not posting this to promote the site, I just want to share the news with everyone. Thank you!
1379  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin's price, at ang ating mental health. on: March 14, 2020, 04:43:42 PM
I do believe that some people can't handle these kinds of happening when they have invested more than they can lose. Feeling ko that's one of the main reasons why someone could think of killing themselves.

@Flightypouch already explained it well. And I'm sorry if my explanation was not clear enough for you but it's about issuing digital diplomas for the students who can't go to their graduations because of the virus spreading in their country. They are just going to adapt blockchain technology to be able to do their plans while preventing fake diplomas.

~snip

Thanks for the explanation mate!
Yes. Every students have been waiting for their graduation day yet because of the virus plans were cancelled. Imagine the excitement you have getting postponed as well... But for sure after this, their school will still resched and continue their graduation ceremony because they can't let their students not to experience it.
