481  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A woman has been arrested in the United States for hiring a killer with bitcoin on: September 27, 2020, 12:58:10 PM
Why would she even trust hiring a killer without really knowing who's the killer and how she can trust him that she'll get what she paid for. She should've done it herself because she'll just also end up in jail. But kidding aside, some people really think that they can run away with all their wrongdoings using bitcoin... People who think this way is just ruining the image of bitcoin, giving others a misconception about bitcoin that's why some people think bitcoin is something bad.
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Scams and Government on: September 27, 2020, 11:14:57 AM
This is the importance of increasing education about investing in cryptocurrency, in order to give awareness to newbies not to be easily attracted by the large rewards offer, Moreover, an offer of 30% -40% return monthly is very clear fraud. Because a legitimate investment might not offer that much profit. No wonder the Indian government often bans cryptocurrency, it turns out that there are so many scams in India that use cryptocurrency.

It's really hard to believe such claims that it will give you a 30-40% return yet people still fall for this because they indeed lack awareness and education as well as their greed. People need to understand first that not all claims are real because it might just end up as a trap.

It's better for them to regulate crypto than banning it because it just shows that the recognition of crypto in India is increasing and they can make use of that as an opportunity while regulating it will help prevent scammers.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Define the (scam) DeFi. on: September 27, 2020, 09:43:00 AM
I do not see anything surprising in the fact that scammers copy popular projects in order to deceive investors and traders.
it's time to get used to checking contracts and addresses to which you send investments and coins that you buy
at the slightest doubt
it is better to refuse the deal

The number of scam projects will continue increasing as they follow and imitate popular projects. It makes it easier for them to deceive the investors if their self-made website, apps, and even the information they sent on the email are indistinguishable. That is why we should be unhasty in our actions, carefully thinks before making a decision, especially when it comes to investment. To evaluate the credibility of the project, you should inspect every detail about the project and ask your fellow members in the forum to conceive a better idea. With the number of similar projects, you better keep an eye on the project team and see all of their updates.
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government figures or politicians supporting Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2020, 04:44:27 PM
The blockchain has a good future since it can offer several development opportunities that will be helpful in the future generation. It's just that, a lot of politicians are still not knowledgable enough with blockchain tech or crypto that's why they oppose because they still have not seen what it can offer. But since we are seeing some government/politicians who are open towards crypto and blockchain adoption, it means that there's always a possibility that the percentage of these politicians who are positive for crypto will still grow. Not everyone will support crypto/blockchain but as for others, it will take time and education for them to realize what it can offer.
485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: September 26, 2020, 01:34:49 PM
I have also heard about this news a while ago. There's still no final details but for sure, a lot of fans are already waiting and excited about this match. Also, the news said that Manny Pacquiao will use a huge part of his earning to help to fight COVID and I think it's a good initiative of the boxer/senator.

In a statement sent to CNN Philippines, Pacquiao’s camp said details of the match are still being finalized. What's certain is a huge portion of Pacquiao's earnings will be used to help in COVID-19 response, his office said.

I'm not really into boxing but as someone from the same country with Pacquiao, of course, I will support him and also because he has a good intention with the money he will earn.
486  Economy / Economics / Re: Why criminals prefer cash (Fiat) on top of crypto? on: September 25, 2020, 03:16:07 PM
Not all criminals are fully aware and knowledgeable about crypto so that's probably one of the reasons, unlike with fiat that it does not require technical knowledge. Criminals won't use things they are not good at because it will put them at a bigger risk of getting caught. And maybe also because there's still not enough crypto adoption and the majority are still relying on fiat, criminals can find more victims than in crypto space. But I think it varies with the intellectual and skill capacity of the criminals because if they know how the crypto space runs, then they will take advantage of it.
487  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Ako si Dogie's Channel Hacked and became a Crypto Channel. on: September 25, 2020, 01:38:40 PM
I've said it a dozen times and I'll say it again: kelangan ma-normalize sa Pilipinas(at sa buong mundo in general) na matutunan ng mga tao ang internet security in general. The list goes on and on.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do people keep playing unlicensed, illegal slot machines? on: September 25, 2020, 10:55:29 AM
I don't really do such things but the same with what others think, maybe they still gamble even if it's illegal because it's more convenient for them. Probably, most of those who tried or play illegal slot machines don't have much money to play or go on real casinos that is why they just play on unlicensed one. This kind of unlicensed slot machine targets gamblers who can't afford to go to casinos and of course, even if you don't have enough money, some gamblers will still gamble since gambling can make others do things even if it's good/right especially when you're really into it.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UniDapp - scam project or not who knows.. decide you! on: September 24, 2020, 04:02:27 PM
Based on the roadmap stated on their official website, they will present their white paper this September although there are only a few days left before September ends. So, I will suggest waiting and review it first, as it has a comprehensive explanation about the idea of the project, it could help us to process of making decisions. Others are doubtful about this project because they can't find the significant information which should be looked at before taking the risk. As a result, they can't help but think differently.

490  Economy / Economics / Re: UK’s economy will lose a good amount of money if football clubs shut. on: September 24, 2020, 01:16:03 PM
The UK has a growing number of daily cases so it'll be hard for them to allow fans since the governments are trying to avoid making crowds. This is a difficult situation that a lot of countries are experiencing, choosing between the economy and the safety of everyone. Maybe if the cases will decrease, they can start allowing fans but with limited capacity only to ensure social distancing plus the protocols. Also, once this pandemic is over, I think they can easily recover as well since a lot of fans would be missing the games so perhaps they should focus more on improving the situation first.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs Surge As There Are Now Over 10,000 Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide on: September 24, 2020, 12:40:00 PM
It's nice to see that bitcoin ATM is growing because it just means that crypto recognition is also increasing. However, bitcoin ATMs around the world are not really distributed well because the majority are just in a single place which means the growth of crypto recognition and adoption is not noticeable in other countries. It would be better to see that other countries also have a growing number of bitcoin ATMs not only in the US. Here in my country, even if there's a kinda positive view of crypto, there are no bitcoin ATMs that much.

492  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: CHRISTIAN ALBERT GAZA a.k.a "Xian Gaza" Introduce his own coin on: September 24, 2020, 11:42:05 AM
493  Economy / Economics / Re: economic loan new money and covid 19 i want fast on: September 23, 2020, 06:07:45 PM
As if the virus will just vanish if governments will take a huge loan. In fact, some countries are already in great debt because of the pandemic, even my country yet I still see no improvement with the pandemic so I don't see this as the solution to the problem. When a government takes a loan, it does not mean all of it will be allocated to end the pandemic because it's not that easy so what made you think that? Countries are already suffering from the pandemic, taking a huge loan will just make it even harder for their economy.
494  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Crypto Valley of Asia Itinatayo sa Pilipinas on: September 23, 2020, 04:25:43 PM
Kadalasan ay hanggang ngayon nasa pagpaplano or discussion parin sila pero walang masyadong improvement or update kaya hindi ako nag eexpect, so probably in the few years ay ganun pa rin. Kung may pagbabago o development man, kakaunti lang.
495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good topics on security and privacy on: September 23, 2020, 02:36:01 PM
Since some users aren't aware that copying and pasting their bitcoin wallet addresses can be dangerous. Since it's still not included, I think this topic might be helpful, especially to newbies that op might add as well.

496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEWARE OF FAKE GIVEAWAYS IN DISGUISE AS UNISWAP on: September 23, 2020, 11:33:03 AM
I have seen this on Reddit a day ago and there are a bunch of people claiming that it's a scam.
Here's the link:
Code:
https://www.reddit.com/r/UniSwap/comments/ixb2tj/uniswap_announces_10000000_uni_giveaway/

Try to look at the medium page published on the Reddit post, you will see that the account is suspended and under investigation. As far as I know, Uniswap has no medium account. In this day and age where people can easily imitate everything, we must be aware some of those giveaways are not specifically made to be advantageous. Don't entrust them with your private information, especially about your funds. Usually, with that kind of account, those who comment are just bots or people that were paid to leave a good review, so that they can attract people to join. To be sure, take a good look at when the account was created.
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gambling in the wake of covid-19 on: September 22, 2020, 06:00:11 PM
Probably because they get blinded by the idea that they might win and earn money by gambling.

That might be the main reason why they are risking their money in gambling. They are hoping that they can win good amount of money in gambling, and maybe this could be a coping mechanism of them to deal with their problems specifically when they lost their job because of this pandemic.

Hence, I agree that they have their own thinking, probably they see theirselves successful on gambling that's why their hopes are high.

Probably only few of the people are gambling because they lost their job, while most of the gamblers are enjoying because they are staying at home and they are finding ways to entertain themselves. Hence, it should not make gambling bad as though there's a risk and there are people who get addicted or lose a lot of money in gambling, but majority of the gamblers are doing it responsibly.

People should not blame gambling because they lose, or blame the pandemic for that to happen, they should be responsible enough to accept their mistakes and blame themselves.
I agree with you that they can't blame it on other things when they are the ones who choose to gamble. But sometimes people really get blinded and just think that gambling is a place where they can earn free money which is totally wrong. And it's not a good mindset because it might make them addicted and dependent on gambling. Also, I don't think it's easy for others to accept that they are losing that's why they keep on playing thinking they can still get everything.
498  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Philippine central bank embraces digital tokens on: September 22, 2020, 04:48:02 PM
Para sa akin, masyado pang maaga para mag expect about sa sariling digital currency kasi for sure matagal pa bago mangyari ito. It will take years sa pag-aaral at paglilitis bago natin makita ang magiging epekto nito. Personally, I don't expect much sa gobyerno pero one thing na nakikita kong maaaring maging magandang dulot nito is once na official na silang makapag launch ng digital currency, at maoopen nito yung mga Pilipino tungkol dito at magkakaroon ng kaalaman.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig Wright To Face Trial on: September 22, 2020, 12:18:23 PM
He should be because he has the audacity to claim other people's assets. He should be brave enough to face the consequences of his dirty actions. He tricked people and manipulates them into thinking that he really is the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto. It will prove if his public statements are accurate, that he's the owner of the 1.1 million bitcoin. He's finally getting the recognition that he wants, but sadly it is because of the fraud that he committed. But tbh, I don't really have an interest in him nor this trial because I have already heard enough with his false claim.
500  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Another Sad Story of Losing $80K worth of Crypto Because of Fake App on: September 22, 2020, 06:15:26 AM
