1381  Economy / Economics / Digital Diplomas With Blockchain on: March 14, 2020, 09:44:57 AM
As everyone is talking about the pandemic coronavirus, some Italian high schools want to adapt the issuance of digital diploma with the help of blockchain technology.

With the growing number of people being affected by the virus in Italy, it is announced by WHO that Italy is now the new epicenter of the pandemic with about 1,000+ death cases and 17,000+ affected of the said virus. Italy is now facing a country lockdown to stop the virus from spreading. School classes were also suspended so some schools had to find a solution for graduating students.

Quote
The schools are located in Rome and Crotone. The licei internazionali di Villa Flaminia in Rome will rely on a blockchain-based system developed by the EY company, while the l'Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore "M. Ciliberto - A. Lucifero" from Crotone has partnered with Blockchain Italia. Two high schools will issue digital diplomas using blockchain technology to avoid fraudulent diplomas. It seeks to ensure the transparency of issuing the diploma and to prevent fake diplomas.

Some countries affected by the virus are suspending classes to lessen the possibility of spreading the virus more as it's hard to handle hundreds of cases. Lessons and even the graduation of some students had been postponed. Other teachers are still finding solutions to deal with the suspension like online classes or submission of papers online. But graduations can't be done online so the least thing they can do is to issue digital diplomas. It's not really the best thing to do but since Italy is facing a big crisis, they have no choice but to find alternatives while they are staying in their homes. Blockchain technology plays a big role to make it possible and to ensure the legitimacy of the diploma without the risk of being altered.

It's sad to think that graduation is a special occasion that only happens once in a while yet they have to experience this kind of situation but for the safety of everyone, I think it's the best alternative they can do. After this pandemic, they can still get their diploma and have their graduations.

1382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Coronavirus affects Bitcoin and when it will end on: March 14, 2020, 07:01:30 AM
The coronavirus affects people . People affect the crypto. It's simple.
That virus not only affects the cryptocurrency but also every market that we have and it even affects the country's economy. Due to the rapid increase of affected individuals, some of the countries are now in quarantine (some of them are in lockdown) and because of this, it can cause panic buying. It's so disturbing to see how this virus affects the current price of bitcoin and I know many people already converted their cryptocurrency into fiat since they need to buy the important things especially the foods and other necessities.

Even they already announce this crisis will end in June still, there's no assurance that it will happen or basically we can totally defeat the virus. Always remember don't forget to take vitamins and do proper hygiene.

It's all about patience. What Bitcoin is priced today won't be at the same price come the same time next year.

You got it! We just need to be patient because the market will recover soon, and I guess the recovery of people and the market will happen at the same time. I'm sure after we overcome this crisis the price of bitcoin will really go to the moon again.

painful watching it keep going down free fall Sad
Same here! it totally painful to watch and I already turn off some notification on my phone because I always see the Bitcoin is down 4.13% (something like that) and I don't wanna see it falling down again.
1383  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Right time for gambling addicts to come out of addiction? on: March 14, 2020, 06:04:27 AM
This is a low-key opportunity for gambling addicts to get themselves used to not gambling. Both sports betting and casinos are affected by the virus since games are postponed and it's not good to go to crowded places like casinos although you can still play online gambling like online casinos and e-sport betting.

Since I'm not a gambling addict, I find it unnecessary to think about gambling in times like this. Instead of using my money in gambling, I will just use it to buy important things like foods and other necessities since some people are panic buying or I will just use it to make more investment in other altcoins. But the good thing about this is that we have no choice but to follow the authority's order for our safety. If you really want to gamble since staying at home can cause boredom, there's online gambling as our option.

1385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Types of People on this Corona Virus crisis which group you belong? on: March 13, 2020, 03:15:58 PM
I'm on the holding side but I can't say I'm brave enough. Just a holder I guess. Although it's very disturbing to see how this current situation of the coronavirus is affecting every market, I still keep my positivity and I know that if this issue gets solved, everything will be back to its normal way even the crypto market or we can see an uprising market.

If we let our emotions take place in this situation, we will just panic and it won't do anything good especially with the pandemic. And if you're really a good investor, panic selling is not a thing for you because you are aware of how the market move. So instead of worrying and panicking, it's better to remain calm, look at the positive side, and take this opportunity to invest more. Since Bitcoin price went down, we have the opportunity to buy more Bitcoin as much as we can so when the time comes that everything went back to normal, it will be a win situation to us.

We just need to wait patiently and keep on holding our cryptocurrencies.
1386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: COVID-19: Avoid casino, play online on: March 13, 2020, 10:53:55 AM
I think most governments are applying that now to prevent the spreading virus. Our government is trying to imply social distances and just recently our president announced community quarantine in some cities to avoid interacting with a lot of people.

Those governments in different countries that are affected, I think they are really trying their best that they can to avoid more cases. But as a citizen, we should also help them by simply obeying and cooperating the authorities. That's the least we can do. If you really want to gamble, you can do that online. A physical casino is a crowded place and that's what we should avoid. We should keep ourselves safe by staying at home as much as possible and keep our hands clean. This will only last until they find a cure for this virus. But for now, let's be contented with online gambling because it's safer and you can assure you can't be contaminated by the virus.
1387  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc dropping more then 39% in 24/h - on: March 13, 2020, 09:04:02 AM
Yesterday, before I go to sleep I checked the price of bitcoin and it's around 6,000$ but, when I woke up I found out that the price is now around 5,100$. I'm sure this sudden big dump on the price of bitcoin will cause panic to others especially to the people who bought bitcoin on the price of 7,000$ - 8,000$+. This time might be a good time to enter and many of us will use these chances to buy more bitcoin and they will gonna hold it until the price recovers. I'm gonna use the money that I save to buy some bitcoin and maybe I will wait for more couple of days before I buy because there's a tendency that it will fall again just like what happened a few hours ago.

I've totally seen a full bloody market right now and I'm hoping to see a good market before the halving now and just stay safe guys.
1388  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful downloading COVID-19 map spread, it contains info stealing crypto on: March 13, 2020, 08:01:43 AM
It's not surprising to see people taking advantage of the circumstance because they aware that people will easily click the bait if it's pertaining to the virus. We should be fastidious before clicking any link because hackers can simply access your personal and financial information. They should be mindful that hackers use several ways to steal information. It is a lot better to do research than rely on any link shared by other people to acquire information. And, thank you for sharing this kind of information.
1389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as Means of Donation on: March 12, 2020, 03:24:13 PM
If others are using Bitcoin to do illegal transactions, why not use it to do good right? I've seen a lot of articles already for the past few months that they will be adapting crypto donations. This is actually a good step for crypto to be known and to be accepted by people. It's also a way to correct other's mindset of what they think about crypto. Some think of crypto as a scam and illegal but with this donation opportunity, it can make them realize that they are wrong. Aside from that, we can maximize the use of Bitcoin with this while it's still in the process of mass adaption.

I hope that we will be able to see more things like this to brighten our days. It feels great to see this kind of news in times when almost all current issues are bad news. And that the use of Bitcoin won't just be limited to foundations but also bigger companies will accept Bitcoin and another cryptocurrency. I also hope that we crypto users won't be afraid of trying this thing because we're the ones who need to try it to encourage non-crypto users to also try crypto options.
1390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea Parliament Legalizes Crypto on: March 12, 2020, 12:02:09 PM
AFAIK, most of the advance country is now legalize cryptocurrency or they even support blockchain technologies. By just legalizing and accepting cryptocurrency we can now see great adoption in the future and later on, all of us will gonna use cryptocurrency. For me, we are now in the middle phase of the adoption of cryptocurrency because I notice the number of people who get interested is now rapidly increasing and it is totally good which we can now have a big cryptocurrency community.

If ever all countries will legalize cryptocurrency expect that the price will have a chance to climb up to the moon. Even my country still not legalized cryptocurrency, I'm hoping that in the next coming year they will legalize it and more people notice and use this.
1391  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the terms you decide on which casino to play? on: March 12, 2020, 10:52:49 AM
I always start looking at the variety of games available when it comes to online casino sites. It's more fun to play when you have plenty of games you can choose. Then the most important things are to check if the site is legit and trustworthy. I always look at the feedback, reviews, and reputation it has from different people who tried the site. Of course, the number of users is important to check if the review is legit or fake. When I'm still in doubt, I ask my friends if they know that certain sites to ask for their feedback so I can play with ease.

If not, then I will try to research more until I feel that I can trust it. But of course, I don't give my whole trust. I will try playing then I will base on my experience if I should keep playing or not.
1392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Rent A Car With Bitcoin? on: March 12, 2020, 08:07:24 AM
It's a pretty good idea for us especially most of us here have cryptocurrency. Adding cryptocurrency in the payment option has already been conducted by many companies and maybe not only focuses on accepting bitcoin and try to add more cryptocurrency. IMO, it will gonna be a waste of profit if you're going to use your bitcoin to rent a car instead of using fiat. It's better to use fiat currency than bitcoin but still, it depends on the people who will gonna rent the car. There's nothing wrong if you're going to use your bitcoin on that kind of transaction but the best option for me is to hold it. Since it's your bitcoin, you're free to do what you want but before spending it, you should try to analyze the situation first. You have to consider the market during the time you want to rent a car if it will be a good decision to use your bitcoin.
1393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Physically vs Gambling Online Using Crypto on: March 11, 2020, 02:42:50 PM
If it's betting, I would prefer it physically since you can interact with other people who will also bet especially when it's about sports betting. But when it comes to casino games, I prefer online gambling. I don't like to socialize and interact with other gamblers in a physical casino cause I don't think I fit in there. I think there will be a barrier to the social class because most people who go to physical casinos are in a higher class. And I am not really addicted to gambling so I only have limited time allocated for gambling so online works better for me. With online, I can do it anywhere, anytime with easy transactions. You won't also have to worry about the social classes because you don't need to interact with other online gamblers.

I have been playing crypto gambling for a while so I'm used to it and I'm contented with it. As of now, I have no plan of exploring physical casinos because my focus in on crypto and gambling is just my pastime. One of the disadvantages of playing physically is you'll be so focused that you will forget the time and the money you already spend and I think with online I can limit myself better.
1394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another successful Bitcoin seminar! on: March 11, 2020, 10:31:36 AM
It's good to see how you spread the word bitcoin, especially to your friend. Even it's a small seminar it still good because you came up an good idea of how you encourage some people to know what bitcoin is. Conducting small seminar like this might end up planning big seminars, just continue doing it. I know it's not easy because you need to have a plan before you conduct it and I'm glad you finish the seminars. Congratulations OP and hoping to see more seminars that you will be conducting.
1395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto giveaway scams and how to spot them on: March 11, 2020, 08:00:53 AM
Its easy to determine if a giveaway is legit or not. If the giveaway asking to transfer a money before participating then its abvious scam attempt .
This is the most cases of scam nowadays like they want the user to send first their money before they give the airdrop or giveaway. You can definitely see this kind of giveaway scam on twitter and telegram, then I guess there's someone who still falls on this especially the newbie who just enters on this field. I know there's some legit giveaway but in order to obtain the prize, you need to do something like in Binance exchange where they launch community giveaway then you just need to trade 1 bitcoin before you become part of the giveaway.

If you see this kind of giveaway I suggest that you should avoid it because you're just wasting your money and time. Then, if you're going to participate in some giveaway make sure it is legit and not a scam. Always remember to make your research so can know what to do if you encounter this kind of scam.
1396  Economy / Economics / Re: WHO encourages use of digital payments due to COVID19 on: March 11, 2020, 06:59:15 AM
I think cryptocurrency is far from the first thing that comes to the minds of government when they hear "contactless payment" - they would likely think about bank cards, PayPal, GooglePay and so on. There might some small chance that it will indeed lead to crypto recognition, but I think at times of the crisis no one will have time to think about crypto. And potential adopters might be scared off by crypto's volatility, as we see that crypto markets aren't doing well now.
You have a point. Not everyone would want to take a risk on crypto especially when there's an issue like this. Like what you have said, there's a higher possibility that they would go with card payments but crypto payments can also be their option if they have or they want to. It's not necessary that they will shift from fiat to crypto. But since Korea has recently legalized crypto, it will give crypto a higher chance to be noticed by Koreans.

I have been never been bug by the virus not until today when suddenly our country has confirmed 35 cases total, mix Chineese and local citizen, some are panicking already since this could also mean that the contact to contact is real and it could already gone too far. For now we cannot feel the tension because the numbers are small, sooner or later when it would be more than hundreds and counting then the country will be in a statee of calamity again, just recently it is because of a Volcanic eruption. If I were to ask- I would change all my money to crypto just to make sure that my valuable assets are safe.

Even with the low number of cases, it still bothers me because of the incompetency of our government. Unlike other countries who can handle the situation very well, I'm afraid that this small number of cases will double in just a short period of time. We have limited test kits and not everyone is capable of handling the expense of going to hospitals. Look how our citizens act on this kind of situation, instead of helping each other, they're hoarding necessities and selling it at double price.

It's up to you if you want to put all of your money in crypto. But what I'm just trying to say is that crypto can be an option or alternative to lessen physical contact transactions and holding paper bills that have various bacteria.

1397  Economy / Economics / WHO encourages use of digital payments due to COVID19 on: March 10, 2020, 04:21:42 PM
Corona Virus has been a big issue that disturbed everyone not only in China for months. But this outbreak never stopped and it continues to spread in the different country putting everyone in fear. With the huge number of cases, central banks had to quarantine their banknotes just to lessen the possibility of spreading the virus.

If you're curious, you can see the previous thread I started regarding South Korea quarantining and even burning their cash
Code:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5231105.40

February 15, lenders in China were asked by their government to disinfect their money for 14 days. Federal Reserve also trying to set aside US dollars from Asia for 7-10 days before including it in circulation. Also, the Bank of England advises its people to wash their hands after handling money because it can hold bacteria and viruses.

With this outbreak, a spokesperson of WHO said that “people should use contactless [payment] technology where possible.”

It's obvious why he suggested it to prevent having contact with money that a lot of people had previously own. This brings a chance for cryptocurrency to be recognized by the government. Suggesting less physical transactions means that cryptocurrency can help with that. To avoid having contact with different people, we can use cryptocurrency for transactions that we don't have to touch any paper money or even have close contact with the people we're having a transaction with.

Those countries with a higher number of cases of the virus should try looking at this opportunity because even with a small part, it can help them and their people to keep themselves safe. Countries like China and Korea who have a great number of cases can adapt to these changes easily because they are a developed country. Instead of continuously putting their bills on quarantine, they can lessen the work if they would be willing to adopt it. Recently, Korea had legalized cryptocurrency which makes it easier for them to adopt it.
1398  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Corona Virus in the Philippines. on: March 10, 2020, 02:04:34 PM

1399  Economy / Speculation / Re: Convert or HODL? on: March 10, 2020, 11:29:24 AM
I agree with the previous reply here. which just hold your bitcoin and don't instantly convert it by just seeing that sudden drop on the market. I also suffer big losses after the sudden drop of bitcoin but I still want to hold it and I know it will climb again to 10,000$. I'm pretty sure you are not the one who instantly converts their bitcoin into USD and there are always people who panic because of sudden drop and later on they just realize that they just lose the opportunity to earn more profit.

Just stick keeping your bitcoin and even it goes fall, try to stop yourself from selling it. IMO, long term investment will totally end up earning a huge profit. No matter what happens I will keep on holding my bitcoin and I will try to buy more.
1400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is now a Days there is no charm to work in Bounties? on: March 10, 2020, 09:40:47 AM
Now are the days where you will need to pick the best.
This will be the hardest part of me and I'm not good with it. Even you pick the best bounty in the bounties section sometimes you still end up earning nothing like the work that you have made is not fitted to the money that you have earned. Then, the bad is there are some circumstances that you pick a successful project but in the end, it will become a huge scam. Based on what I see, there's some bounty hunter that still dedicated to joining even they will encounter failed/scam projects because they know, they can still pick the right bounty campaign that will give them huge profit.

Don't just give up by just seeing those failed/scam projects and just keep on joining until you hit the jackpot campaign. Don't forget to check the bounty project where you plan to join.
