16741  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Newbie Introduction / Moneypak -> BTC trading advice? on: January 20, 2014, 09:54:30 AM
Greetings! I am a brand new member on these forums and would like to extend a friendly hello to all it's members Smiley

Currently, I am mainly here looking to trade some Moneypaks I have for BTC. I originally bought them hoping to get coins off localbitcoins, however all the Moneypak exchanges are $200+ over the market value.  I have 6 cards, with $300 on each. I am able to provide pictures of the recipt next to the unscratched Moneypak, as well as an endorsement with my username on the recipt. Any advice on connecting with legit sellers on this site, as well anything I can do further to guarentee a smooth and safe transaction  for both parties would be much appriciated!

Post your offer over on the marketplace.

Cool. Lets see how that works out.

But I suggest that a "Beginners & Help" section would still be useful to not have the same reoccurring questions twice a day in the General Discussions.

Yeah, maybe keeping the newbie section is still a good idea. I think all the crap that was in there will now just spill out into the other forums. Interesting to see what happens.
16743  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Should the Newbie Forum be Archived? on: January 20, 2014, 09:52:18 AM
Awesome!

Maybe not so much if all these threads start spilling out onto the other boards.  Cheesy
16744  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello, Newbs here on: January 20, 2014, 09:51:17 AM
Hi everyone, i'm newbie too, can someone explain why my messages are sticked to 14??

Your activity is 14, you have 34 posts (check your profile).

Your activity can go up a maximum of 14 for every two weeks or so (somebody can correct this if I am wrong) provided that you log in and post on the forums.

Ok thanks, but you mean that i have to wait 2 weeks before removing the 260seconds post limit? It's very annoying...

It's 360 seconds. The time limit goes down the more activity you get.

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

Still sticked to 14.....

You can only get a max of 14 every two week period.
16745  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: January 20, 2014, 09:48:26 AM
My activity is 28 for over a week now even that i had like 100 post or it feels like that. any ideas?

I think it's a max 28 activity you get per month.

16746  Other / Meta / Re: Time to Reorientate this Forum towards Cryptocurrencies in general. on: January 20, 2014, 09:45:50 AM
Dogecoin is so last week. Let me guess, you're mad cause you got left holding the bag, and you want to spam bitcoin discussion about dogecoin hoping more pump and dumpers will come in and save you.

Grin. This weeks annoying coin seems to be "Fuckcoin".

I think Doge and all the other alts are fine where they are.
16747  Other / Meta / Re: End of newbie restrictions; ban changes on: January 20, 2014, 09:39:36 AM
These are positive changes for me.   No longer does a person have to make useless posts and waste useless time to post the question they originally wanted.

I see it as a fee for those who want to hide their identity (i.e. TOR) - most innocent users will not be affected by this, and scammers will have their bottom line increased by the new charges, protecting everyone.

Hmm.. not sure how I feel about it. The restrictions were annoying at first and most others shared that sentiment, but I also thought they were useful as did a lot of others. I guess we'll see what impact they had now that they've been lifted. Are the time limits between posts still effective or not?

so what is "activity" anyway? As opposed to post count. What is used to calculate the activity score?

Thanks, have wondered but seemed here was a good time to bring it up.

Can you edit your title? Most people would probably recognize your site as a Faucet (not a fountain).
Nice clean looking site.

What's the difference between a faucet and a fountain?
16749  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Russian Bitcoin ATM ? on: January 20, 2014, 09:33:32 AM

After the Olympics someone should buy up these machines and modify them to print Bitcoin vouchers.
Place them in malls, recruit some stores to accept bitcoin and print store names on back of vouchers.

Maybe Bitcoin Foundation or one of the major bitcoin businesses looking for publicity could sponsor - because VISA sure won't do it.

Saw those machines on the news a while back, but are you sure they can be modified that easily?

Lol what happened

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423995.0

Seems the Newbie restrictions are no more.
16751  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How come I can't post?? on: January 19, 2014, 10:54:53 PM
I'm wondering whether I should post here, to the Newbies section, or attempt to post elsewhere before I have permission? It would probably be a waste of time to try the second one, so should I skip that and just post here, in the Newbies section? Or try it the other way? I'm undecided.

You can only post in here until you're a Jnr member.
16752  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price differences between coinbase and mtgox on: January 19, 2014, 10:13:23 PM
Hi there -first time poster, long time lurker.

Can anyone tell me why I can buy BTC on mtgox for ~$100 more per coin than on coinbase?  I'm looking to buy some, and it seems like mtgox is a big loss as far as exchange pricing goes.

Mtgox is at a big loss at everything. Can't believe it's still in business.
16753  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you sell at? on: January 19, 2014, 10:09:27 PM
actually never ^^
i wouldn't sell before it reaches it full potential, but when btc is at lets say > 100k its become a standart currency anyway..

What do you define as full potential?

This is hypothetical, and so easier to answer, but let's say you have exactly 1 Bitcoin. The prices keep going up, with only occasional dips. The price keeps rising and rising.

What's your price? What price would you decide, 'Forget this, I'm cashing out'.

Hold on to the 1 BTC until bitcoin reaches mainstream use.  Then use micro-bitcoin for daily expenses (and hopefully have a portion of my salary paid in bitcoin by then as well).

This is what I'd like to do.

I really doubt about Browserina being a girl.  Lips sealed

Is that your subtle way of asking her to prove it?  Grin

I can't seem to be able to change my name on PD.

Can I get added to the faucet whitelist, please: 3476

You should talk to a mod, not on this thread. Also I recently started PD, and decided not to beg but being active on the chat.

I`m taking advice from a lot of the old members there.

The last time I asked the mods on there they sent me here.
16756  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi all on: January 19, 2014, 09:55:19 PM
I wonder what the ratio of male/female BTC miners are..

100/0 male to female ratio.

98/2, it seems :-)

Nah. Still 100/0 unless proof  Wink.

Ooooooooook. I'll prove it in a few days. And you'll pay for it. Obviously in BTC :-D

Oh are you one of them women? haha.

And notice how your thread has two pages already when the others barely get a few replies?  Grin

I wonder how much hilariousandco is willing to pay to see the proof...isn't 0.1 BTC your going rate for proof? Tongue

Ahahhahhha.  I don't know, can I start a bid for a private proof sent via mail? :-D

You can certainly try. I guarantee you'll get a lot more money sent "donated" to you by people perves if you post pics here though. Not by me of course, but you will get some. Just check Monica's thread out (now see how many pages hers has got  Grin).
16757  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How ridiculous is the newbie restriction?! on: January 19, 2014, 09:37:09 PM
I'm also new here. I decided finally, after reading these forums for a month now, to register. I understand the point of this restriction and I think it is good, however now I cannot make a post that I wanted to make. Well tomorrow morning I will be able to hopefully. It isn't urgent. The disappointment will pass and this will be a small price to pay. I'm also blabbering a bit due to the ambiguous substantial sentence what ever rule. Smiley

You need to actively browse so just coming back tomorrow wont be any good.

helps cut down on spam. and this forum is still overrun with spam. so i don't mind, personally.

I wonder if having a pop-up message before newbs tried to post informing them of the restrictions would it stop half of this crap in here?

Yeah its seems a bit nuts that i can not post in most places. How long until I am? Is it 10 posts? Where can I post up until then? Just here?

Do I have to have a certain number of characters in each post like someone suggested. How many?

Read the newbie readme stickied in this forum.
