@annerl, are you trying to claim your ETC from the fork? then rest assured because a replay protection has been implemented on ETH's side (not sure about ETC), so just send your ETH first and your ETCs are good to go. Also, make sure you are using the latest version and not a fake phishing wallet.

This would provide a way to send transactions that work on Ethereum without working on ETC or the Morden testnet.

It's quite alarming that the support doesn't know ETC is on a separate blockchain, it's a very basic info and it sheds light on how their employees are screened/picked...
1762  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance Walks an Extra Mile: An Aggressive Initiative in the Face of Competition on: February 12, 2021, 05:09:11 PM
Certainly not the first time they have tried this. At this point, it's safe to say that the past endeavors were successful enough for them to do it again otherwise they wouldn't waste manpower. With how quick ppl are in devaluing their info, it'll be bad if this spreads and other exchanges try a similar thing.

Binance Updates VIP Invitation Program | Promotion Period: 2020/04/22 to 2020/07/22

Binance Extends VIP Invitation Program| Promotion Period: 2021-01-27 00:00 (UTC) - 2021-04-27 23:59 (UTC)

Not that i agree with their method, but it's actually good even for those at the top to not be relaxed and always try new things to improve their platform/service.
1763  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bithumb Deposit Not Received - Need Help - Possible Scam Alert on: February 12, 2021, 03:12:40 AM
Someone said that crypto exchange lost its reputation a long time ago, because if you are hacked as many as 3 times, the only question is when it will happen again.

Bithumb global is a separate entity from bithumb.com (the south korea one) and therefore has never been hacked, although i do understand the skepticism about it as they share the same name and have some sort of connection.

@op, what you can do now is to go around the internet and spread the word hoping you get enough attention for them to prioritize you  Sad
1764  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Couple of Blockchain.info issues/questions on: February 09, 2021, 07:10:38 PM
It seems strange to me, because I imported my crypto from a Kraken exchange back in 2013 and, to my mind, all funds must be "imported" at some stage.
This doesn't make sense. You can't import private keys from a Kraken exchange account since Kraken do not hand out private keys. Where did you import these private keys from?

Maybe op confused sent with import?

It looks like they originally had a legacy wallet (16 word phrase and 2013), so it could be that their account was upgraded to use the current HD wallet and so the funds (the keys) from their legacy wallet is now in 'imported addresses'. You can check this @op if you have a way to compare your legacy wallet addresses to the ones in 'imported addresses'

3. On a side-note, when I log into my wallet using a Chrome browser on a PC, only part of your screen appears on my screen. So I am not actually able to sign out or scroll to the right or down (for example, to change the language)

Does this happen in every browser/device/internet connection? If so, since when? perhaps since the transition which happened in q1 of 2016?
1765  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost my word phrase, was deleted on cell before I could see it. on: February 05, 2021, 07:30:39 PM
Before you could see it? does that mean you didn't manage to save it? then it's a lost case. It's their non-custodial wallet so it means even coinbase has no access to your funds, hence won't be able to help you.

It's a different case if you saved in a text file or something, you can try to see if a data recovery software would work. Also if your file manager has the recycle bin enabled since some of them has it enabled by default.
1766  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain Trading Wallet to wallet on: February 03, 2021, 11:55:22 PM
Just to clear it up, what happened was it used to be a 7-day period

What is the 7-day holding period?

If you recently bought crypto, your purchase may be subject to a 7-day holding period. During this time, you will still be able to use your recently purchased funds to fund additional buy orders, sell orders, and Swap trades (coming soon); however, these funds will not be available to withdraw or send to your non-custodial wallet.

then blockchain.com shortened it to 3 days which is now what we are seeing in the live article.

What is the 3-day holding period?...

@op, did you buy using your card? then reach out to their support if three days has passed and the problem still persist. I'd escalate it thru their twitter too (https://twitter.com/AskBlockchain)
1767  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Withdraw problem on HITBTC on: January 29, 2021, 06:29:34 PM
It seems to be a problem on their end.

Check their telegram (https://t.me/EN_HitBTC) and look up the word 'doge' you'll see lots of ppl having withdrawal problem. First ones who expressed complaints were in the same day op posted this. After some time hitbtc closed the withdrawals

but is now open again although it's still not in its best condition.

Get in touch with their support op, if you still haven't withdrawn your funds.
1768  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Portis wallet on: January 27, 2021, 06:50:00 PM
Without a real email address, you won't be able to access your account (if you didn't back up your recovery phrase)
So does this mean they store your seed too? Or they use a hash to protect it using the password?

Looks like it works similarly to blockchain.com where they store the encrypted wallet file in their servers so users are able to access their wallet with just an email and password using a browser in any device, while also giving them a discounted non-custodial experience. Discounted because of the unknown part of how those wallet files are being kept and that encrypted or not, it's a lot better to not have your keys lying around somewhere.

Who keeps the private keys?

When users register, they create a wallet client-side and then immediately encrypt the private key using a secret which never leaves their device. We safeguard their encrypted wallet, but they maintain absolute control over it. We designed the security architecture so that transactions can be signed in any modern browser, meaning users can enjoy a familiar and easy experience without the risk of any unauthorized activity.
1769  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 21, 2021, 06:13:43 PM
Was the transaction initiated by the hacker already with confirmation/s when you found it?

The hacker doesn't seem to have an access to your custodial accounts seeing that they can't move the funds themselves. It can't be the holding period either since you were able to withdraw. Waiting on what the support can do for you may be the best for now. Reach out to their other channels too like twitter (https://twitter.com/AskBlockchain).

I'd ask them about the first method i mentioned in my previous post too which is recovering your interest account in a newly created blockchain.com account-- you wont be using the compromised backup phrase.

Your blockchain.com wallet is linked to your custodials so that may pose a problem for you like triggering their suspicious flag if the wallet + identity profile must go as a set.

User Account means (where applicable, in your name) an account kept by Blockchain Access UK LTD for Blockchain.com Exchange, the Airdrop Program, Swap and the Trading Wallet. For the avoidance of doubt, no User Account is associated with a Wallet unless the Wallet is linked to one of the foregoing Services or Blockchain.com’s Interest Account.
1770  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com compromised by blcokchain.cm on: January 20, 2021, 07:40:54 PM
when I login in a new account everything works fine.

If there are signs that funds from your interest account are still safe there are two methods i could think of to try.

Your Interest Account is associated with your Blockchain.com identity profile. If you lose access to your Blockchain.com Wallet, all you need to do is use your backup phrase to recover your wallet and then get re-verified in your new wallet to recover your Interest Account funds.

It does say the interest account is tied to your identity profile so maybe even if you verify a freshly made blockchain.com account, funds would still show up? However there is a chance you might trigger their flags and get your funds locked but hey it's better to deal with their support.

or..
Recovering your account thru blockchain.com does gives you a new wallet ID and such so it's pretty much a new shell/account but same wallet, maybe youll be able to access it fine this time. The hard part is because the wallet is already compromised it becomes a race between you and the hacker on which transaction gets to be confirmed first. After you send the bitcoins to your compromised blockchain.com wallet go to electrum and do this (https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-do-a-manual-child-pays-for-parent-transaction/). The higher miner fee you put, the faster it would be to be picked up by a miner. I consider electrum's fee estimation to be reliable, try to set it to "mempool" and target .5MB or less.

This all assuming they won't redirect you to manual verification which could take weeks...
1771  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btc.com on: January 15, 2021, 04:42:02 PM
Found them, logging in may be a different story. Thanks for the help .

If your friend is still having a problem accessing their funds, try to recover it using btc.com's recovery tool (https://help.btc.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003783333-How-do-I-recover-my-wallet-using-the-backup-PDF-). and yes they need their backup pdf for this. BTC.com forces their users to save the file so they probably have saved it. The problem is finding it (https://help.btc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002937174-I-have-lost-my-backup-PDF-where-could-it-be-)

If the recovery tool weren't able to detect the mentioned address, then it is not from that account. They can contact the support and see if they can provide further confirmation/info.
1772  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase having outage? on: January 07, 2021, 10:21:03 PM
They had some connectivity issues around the time you posted this. According from their status page, a fix has been made. I tried logging in thru their website and it all went fine, should probably work on your end too.

Their status page (status.coinbase.com) is also another way to check coinbase's condition aside from their SNS.
1773  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Have correct recovery mnemonic but cannot authorize via email on: December 23, 2020, 09:21:47 PM
afaik the mnemonic in blockchain.info back then was only used for recovering passwords and doesn't contain any keys.

do you recall saving a json wallet file or paper backup? try to look for them. See this old article for reference: Tutorial: Backup Basics! The Best Ways to Backup Your Blockchain Wallet. Users also had an option to save them in clouds like dropbox and gdrive.
1774  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gate.io is down on: December 05, 2020, 11:48:50 PM
Website is back now and according from them, it was just maintenance.

I see this unannounced maintenance happening again so better bookmark their other domains too @op. Reading the past messages in telegram, it seems the other domain(s) were working while gate.io was still down.

Go to their telegram and search for "domain", afterwards verify them thru https://www.gate.io/en/officialverify while it is up and running. It's a cool feature but they should've put it in a standalone platform.
1775  Economy / Exchanges / Re: minimum bitcoin withdrawal on FTX on: December 04, 2020, 10:07:11 PM
....I have tried to create an account on that exchange (ftx.com) to see the minimum amount of withdrawal but I can't found anything on the necessary page, if you want to know the exact amount the minimum amount of withdrawal I would suggest to ask it to their support.

When that happens, you can also try searching in their other social channels like twitter, telegram etc.. bc there's always a fair chance that someone has asked the same thing especially when it comes to basic questions. and yeah since no one was sure, here:

as for the withdrawal fee, op can pretty much trust what the article says (which noorman0 linked) since it's from the exchange itself. It's very weird that you have to ask for such info tho, cause the standard is for it to be displayed in the withdrawal section and their support articles.
1776  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken.com always the error: Invalid username or password on: December 02, 2020, 07:02:29 PM
I don't think their support team are still active here, you'd have to try other platforms as your problem requires kraken's staff to be solved.

Try to escalate your ticket number in their subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/KrakenSupport/) by starting a thread and filling out this form (http://www.kraken.com/escalate-your-ticket). There's also twitter: https://twitter.com/krakenfx
1777  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Funds in my coinbase vault stuck for very long time on: November 26, 2020, 11:22:04 AM
Hmm.. are you from US op? maybe try joining this class action and while at it, slip the fact that you did in your ticket. Worth a shot, you wont lose anything. Im not sure if non-US citizen can join tho, wouldn't hurt to ask them if you are.

btw, how many upboats did your reddit thread had?
1778  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Black friday offers ~ Please help in creating the list. on: November 24, 2020, 06:49:35 PM
People who did a black friday sale in the past usually do it again the following year so probably check this too: Black Friday 2019

and maybe add the duration of each of them.
1779  Economy / Exchanges / Re: coinbase identity info on: November 20, 2020, 06:29:44 PM
I dont really care what Coin base knows I just dont want them sharing the info

Coinbase has done it in the past with the authorities (ref), don't see a reason why it wouldn't happen again. But pretty much every centralized exchanges has the tendency to share their users info to third parties so I'd stay away if that's my concern. Downside to it is you'd be sacrificing convenience.
1780  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Funds in my coinbase vault stuck for very long time on: November 17, 2020, 11:51:16 PM
@posi, op still hasn't completed approving the two confirmation emails needed for the withdrawal to go thru because coinbase nuked their secondary one. (similar prob from another user)

@op, what you can do rn is to keep trying to get coinbase's attention. Bother them in every channel they have, if you want you can tell them about this thread or whichever that has the most views/engagement
