Yep, heard one of the big pools hit it, so hopefully it made a lot of their users a lot of BNS!
I suspect it was Hashing.at, cuz I got a big payout from them Cheesy

Spend some of them coins and get that dice game going! Smiley

To think that Josh said that I look like a troll. That hurt me so badly. But, I must move on, to protect others that look like trolls so that they too don't feel the wrath of the great Zipkin. I'll start by warning this guy.

And then this guy.

honestly, they look more like gnomes...

Altcoins were developed only so that people could mine on commodity hardware and it be impossible to mine on GPUs FPGAs ASICs... oh shit, why do they exist now?
Maybe it is time you take a strong look at Nxt!    Wink
No thanks, I took a long hard look at bitcoin and liked what I saw and still like it today.
You were discussing Altcoins if I am not mistaken...    Undecided

Not really, I was dissing them.

Regardless...  there is an answer to your question...    Roll Eyes
I hate to be pedantic but I wasn't... oh forget it Tongue

Hence the drop of GPU support after 3.8. I agree alts are a side show, like clowns. IMHO they're only good for pump n dumps to make more btc Smiley

Bitcoins are to dollars as altcoins are to dimes.

When I have enough dimes.........

You can call them clowns all you want but I make my kids tuition payments with the altcoins I mine.

Bitcoins too, just for the record.

Just remember there are many altcoins that are 4000% more profitable than Bitcoins and at least TWICE as stable.

Everytime China farts BTC crashes.

This is nonsense. Perhaps alts are 4000% more profitable than Bitcoins if you're trying to mine both using a GPU, but no-one is mining BTC with GPUs right now.

The Antminer S1 is $450 right now and will earn around $9.50 a day. I don't think any scrypt mining hardware can come close to returning $9.50 per day with a $450 hardware investment right now.
I like the way you think. keep thinking like that, cuz it lowers the diff for me. I am beating BTC by a couple percent with SHA alts nearly every day. Think what you could do with a couple gridseeds...

1TH/s mining 0.1BTC
1TH/s mining 80000 BNS
1 BNS = 0.00000023
per day 80000*0.00000023=0.0184 BTC
only to buy in,do not on other Exchanges
https://www.bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-BNS
why mining BNS???

Dude, it's 3 days old. Give it a minute.

There was a fork on the 26th, and an updated wallet released. The dev has gone quiet, which sucks. The only real problem is that for some reason there seems to be some lag in the network. I think it is because people are adding nodes that are not running the updated client. I've tried to tell you guys not to add any nodes, but people keep doing it. If your wallet gets stuck on a block just close the wallet and reopen it. If your not seeing stake you either didnt update correctly, are not unlocked or simply didnt get stake.

Edit: If you read the last few pages instead of just posting your problems, you would probably find your fix.

Gettin' real fucking sick of this. I have tried EVERY THING that people have posted, read every post, talked to people on Skype. The above is pure bullshit. This coin is broken.

I mine alts, and I trade them. I have installed over 75 wallets in the last few months, and THIS is the only one that just plain refuses to work. I currently have seven wallets running on my system, none of which are giving me trouble, and two of them are coins launched within the last week.

Sounds like you should just move on. I've been mining alts for almost 2 years now and have yet to get so worked up over any of them. If what I posted previously does not help you idk what to tell you. Lots of people are synced up and running fine now. To be honest though, if this this coin is bothering you that much, you should just move on either way.

You're right, I should. I just hate it when things don't work no matter what you try. I will let it go now. I just got irritated by the RTFM comments, because I did. repeatedly. I gave it one more go with a completely clean install, just to see if it would behave any differently. No skin in the game this time, nothing to gain or lose.
Still hangs the sync, still don't see the whole chain, and I did read and implement everything in this thread.

Good luck guys, I'm out.

Before you give up. check the taskmanager and make sure sha is the only wallet running. I have issues with wallets not closing sometimes
and need to manually kill the wallets with the taskmanager.
did that. also on two attempts did a clean install in a vm with nothing but windows 7, firefox, and shacoin. similar results.

I am thorough. Or obsessive, however ya wanna see it. I like the concept, but this just ain't gonna work.

people are just impatient. it takes 48 hours for your coins not to move from your wallet,  to go into stake. after that, the stake generated is way less than most people will think. also, with 500 confirmations from mined coins, it takes over 12 hours for my mined coins to confirm, however, they all seem to be accepted by the network and working on being confirmed. so their is a bit of a learning curve, but i dont think its broken.

my coins sat for significantly over 48 hours without staking. others had no problems. Just out of sheer morbid curiousity, I'm installing a new instance of SHA with the .conf file and nothing else. We'll see if it bothers to sync. I took the smart choice and sold out, and I'm glad I did. Y'all are off on different chains, the wallet syncs for one guy and not the other, stakes for one guy, but not the other, the dev is GONE...

Aside from wasting a lot of time, what is the purpose of this coin? It's problems have gotten it taken off the exchanges, only an elite few get stake, it won't sync or stay synced.. Hell, I could do a copy/paste coin that made more sense.

My only consolation is somebody bought me out, for about what I lost in BTC mining time.

What a train wreck.
2273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 29, 2014, 09:16:03 AM
Maybe KnC have very good relations and they can get it faster. They do chips for 10 years. Can't be all in vain.
It was ORSoC first ASIC. They had FPGA code, ALCHIP did all the job.
Relations won't help here. Double Patterning takes times.
4-5 months to samples.

Guys, don't get in this pissing match. If AVENGER is taking the KnC side of the argument, you're likely wrong.

You're off to an amazing start with your own beastie. Let it lie. KnC is quite capable of digging their own grave. Also quite capable of pulling a rabbit out of their ass. You can't call this one.

2274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 29, 2014, 06:59:36 AM
I am thinking I will likely have to start mining the alt-coins that support ASIC miners and turning them into BTC's to get ahead, unless the amount of Bitoin's in the world increase from 11 million to whatever the next increment is. But Bitcoin will never die. Smiley

i'm dabbling - mining SHA alt coins, trading them for BTC and ploughing it all into cloud mining - if you can't beat them, join them.
That's exactly the thing that will increase the value back into BTC, and starve off the alts a bit. Exactly what I expect most Titan owners will do. Mass roaming altpool Titans trading all their alts for BTC

There's more to it. Most alts are going to have a short life span. Some will not. I don't think LTC is going to be a big winner, because they have managed inadvertently to establish themselves as the "also ran" coin. A great many of them are just people playing or scamming. But there are a few that have some serious potential. It's in the dumps right now, but the horse I'm officially backing is Earthcoin. It's designed to be a global cheap currency, and it's ASIC mineable. I know a couple guys mining it with gridseeds already.

Bitcoin is the trailblazer. I don't see it dying, but I don't see it being the ultimate winner either. It has some limitations to its success, such as transaction times and a lot of negative press. This will allow it's competitors to exploit it's known problems for their gain. This in turn will strengthen the eco system. I see the development of scrypt asics as a very positive development.

But some things need to happen that haven't yet. Ready transference in and out of various fiat currencies, Point of Sale systems OUTSIDE of the internet, and more trading pairs. While I find it personally offensive, DOGE is likely to be a big winner in the asic age, because it's already a big winner. This also lends more credence to my long standing postulate that Einstein was fundamentally wrong. The Universal Constant is NOT the speed of light. It's perversity. I see evidence in favor of this every single day.

One way or another, Bitcoin has changed currency forever. I think it's likely to remain the "standard" by which other coins are judged, but I don't think that it will always be king of the hill.

four weeks ago we hired a design team to help us design a customized cage for the modules. We could have always opted to go with the swiss case and produce but even they have been modifying that as well.

The design team ran us up quite a lot in a week or so and we ordered (quick turn from rapid sheet metal in NH) 400+ cages.

The designers did not leave holes in the cages for airflow to pass over the top of the boards (chips/chipsinks) but more over just holes which were the exact size of the heatsink fins.

So with the chip's data sheet specifying airflow/thermal dissipation 30% on top and 70% on the bottom this would work and chips would over heat. So we're stuck with 400+ sheet metal cages that dont work - we got quotes on cutting out the pannels of the cages, drilling holes etc..  So what's the quick fix to fab 400 sheet metal cages.. New heatsinks.

We ordered new heatsinks with more fins and 3mm fin height difference allowing us to utilize that gap for chipsink thermal flow.  New sinks took 4 days to come in, cut to length extrusion, and 2-3 days to CNC from a nice guy with great pricing who has become the end of the day bitch station of all the things that went wrong during the course of the day. So the next week became a early morning and late evening pickup of heatsinks.

designers back in the lab charging us to fix the mess they made and we told them this time - make it like a fence. So they finished after a few days and sent the designs back to Rapid - who turned it around in a week (not very rapid) and sent the first 100 units over on tuesday and what did we find out.. the designers did not add the 2nd and 4th screw holes on the back side of the cage..

Called rapid they said send it back - quoted a week or two in turn around.. called larger shops they weren't available didn't have any time for quick turn runs...etc You're thinking so what .... it's only 4 screw holes you can drill them yourself, not quite. The holes need to be exact to the mm because if they are off by .2mm than your backplane wont fit in the right way and eventually lead to more problems.

CM offered up a quote of $10 per cage to have a few guys they know come in and do it. Also referred us to another character that came back rather too quickly with quotes in thousands. Trying to do several ourselves, some came close but nothing professional and came out with correct holes spacing but bent sides etc... just a world of crap.

In the end the nightly complaining at the CNC shop (heatsink pickup round 6) we mentioned it to our cnc guy and he was like ... "we can do that, $2 a cage done in 48hrs."

The CNC was already set to drill and tap the holes on the sinks which was the spacing it needed to be on the cage, so he was able to make a sheet metal template for manual drilling and had one of the shop minions do the drilling.

Moral of the story - ask everyone, call around and get quotes, but ultimately the guy that runs that CNC is gonna know what to do and how to handle shit situations.

This is one of several factors that has attributed to our delayed status.

2280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: March 29, 2014, 05:02:08 AM
I don't know if worldwide difficulty would go up just because of AMT 1Th/s miners, but now it seems many manufactures are now releasing 1Th/s miners which would add up.  I am also not going to be referencing other miners. Even if difficulty was slightly higher, it would still be lost income. It's not that simple to discuss, so I will keep it at that. heh.

Understood. I don't think your argument is invalid in a general sense, I just can't see it flying in court due to the variable nature of bitcoin and the fact that the network is not static. In fact, it seems to be on another spike right now, with a whole bunch of vendors using Innnosilicon's version of the very same chip that AMT is using. Except you can actually get a dragon miner.

Biomech, what happened..

From where I sit, you very badly mismanaged your business. While you did good for me, personally, it seems that you left a lot of people hanging in the wind. Your story kept changing as time went by, and frankly, some of those hanging in the wind are friends of mine.

You asked me to be objective. That's always a difficult thing to do, and moreso when somebody gives you something nice for free. I've tried to walk the line, but it's very difficult to not be angry. I feel like you used my reputation, such as it is, to generate sales that you either didn't intend to deliver on, or were so hopelessly delayed on that you couldn't.

The last two days of revelations at least make me breathe a little easier, as I was beginning to think you didn't even have a terrahash mining unit being built. During the "silent" time, I called you seven times and always got an answering machine. I suspended judgement for some time, because you had done me well.

As for the discussion of law, it's a hobby. I'd play devil's advocate at my own trial for my own immortal soul, if I believed in such things.

That's the general "what happened" from my side. What else happened, just a few days ago, is something you better be ready for in your new rigs. One of my boards overheated and blew some caps. Martin says it's almost certainly because of the restrictive case and smaller heatsink you used. And indeed, the other one has improved its performance quite a bit by being in the open air. If you're restricting your airflow as much as those cases look like in the pics, you're going to be getting a LOT of RMA's if you get your assembly sorted and the majority of your orders shipped. The other board is running like a champ.

In the beginning fo this debacle I defended you, and I meant it. During my conversations here and on the phone with Jim, I advised you to hire a full time customer service rep. You agreed this was a good idea. I also advised you to speak openly to the community if you were going to be delayed in any way, which you also agreed on. Had you done these two, simple, cheap things, you wouldn't be facing the shit storm you are now.
