2621  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SHA-256 Bitcoin ASIC hashrate verification? on: November 04, 2018, 03:30:54 PM
I remember there being a product a few months ago that had some extraordinary cliams - I will try to find it.

The machine had to be pointed to their pool, and you accessed the miner status page via their website. The miner looked like a couple s5's taped together IIRC. In the end it was assumed this was a long CON, You would essentially be cloud mining. The machines you ran may not do anything more than turn on and connect to the pool.

So I really won't trust any gear that forces you to mine to their pool; or only provides access to the miner via their website.

3) Read all outgoing packets and ensure it's only sent to the selected pool. If there are packets sent to unknown places, the manufacturer could be receiving info on your pool/address and send some of their own hash to the same pool/address..

Sorry still lacking a lot of knowledge - What do you mean by this?? Where can this be found generally?
2622  Other / Meta / Re: Blocking of the account for posting on: November 04, 2018, 03:22:06 PM
I seem I have published the same message from the spare account vladaziya1 twice
Sincerely I apologize. This wrong message, I didn't copy it. I had no bad intentions

This does not matter.

You also can't copy/paste your own posts same account, let alone an  alt account; and pretend they are original.

This is just a shitposting Sig Spam move to boost post counts and make money. It offers 0 value to the forum. Now accept that you as a person are banned, this includes your alt accounts, and you are now in read - only mode forever.
2623  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: November 04, 2018, 12:58:37 AM
Depends on the individual's trust settings that are viewing the rating and who they've included in their trust network.  By default, any trust left by DT1 or members they've added to DT2 is taken into account here.

Thanks, I understand that about the trust system in general.

I meant I wasn't sure how it was rated with BPIP, whther it was only green trust from DT2 and DT1 that was considered or all feedback.

And dang, now I'm #40 on the bpip list.  I soooo don't deserve to be ranked that high.

You may be to close to see it, but with being a DT member and very active in some sections you fit the category of recognizable on the forum.
2624  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: November 03, 2018, 11:09:32 PM
It really comes down to having interactions on the forum where someone had to place trust in you or the way you would conduct yourself. Some people get positive trust from trades, some get it for actively fighting scams.

The trust that really affects things (due to visibility) comes from members of DT, otherwise it doesn't show up on your score for everyone else to see.

Not sure if all trust is taken into account here or just trust left by DT members.
2625  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: November 03, 2018, 11:01:01 PM
Looks like activation is going to pass. There was a community effort to put orders in on NH to tank the lone entity holding up the asset layer activation.

I read a rumor somewhere (reddit I think) where a user was speculating that the upgrade was being blocked to try and make the activation date November 5th

I hadn't heard this side of it. There was someone on Discord speculating this would be when assets would go live. Looks like they will actually go live then because they activate 2016 blocks after the yes vote passes.

I would have to say the rumor is just that because the "No" vote would have probably won out again if the organizing of NH buys hadn't taken place. This round still had something like 178 No votes so they were actively against activation and it would have pushed us well past the 5th of November, if I remember remember correctly.
2626  Other / Meta / Re: Merits for posters not making redundant quotes. on: November 03, 2018, 06:33:41 PM
To be fair they both are "spambies".

That's why I knew where to find them, lol. 1 from each of the discussion boards, I literally opened 1 thread on each, kinda sad how easy it was to find "Legendary" accounts to fit the bill. That speaks more to the fact that there is no reason to assume based on rank the quality of a member. You actually have to look beyond the rank to see their worth, goes both ways.

The worst case I've come across (and I don't have a link) was one where a person was applying for a position in a signature campaign and quoted the entire OP of the campaign thread.  And I'm sure the example I'm thinking of isn't the only time someone has done that.

I wonder if they got accepted.  Roll Eyes

I always enjoy that when it's an ANN thread or a long OP review or guide in the mining sections. Generally ends in cramping of the finger trying to scroll through.

We know that the OP revisited the thread, but I wonder how many of the posters that I merited have checked back.

I'm sure a couple of them will be delighted as I do believe it was the first merit for at least one of them, and for 3 others it's a large percentage of their merit received to date. If even 1 of them learned to format posts better I'd call it a win.

I used to use the -snip- a lot and do sometimes, but I generally don't bother anymore. I just cut the quote to what I need and assume people will have read it or can follow the quote back like a link.

2627  Other / Meta / Re: Help! Got scammed trying to upgrade my membership! on: November 03, 2018, 04:57:12 PM
Wow that's shitty.

I've read a few threads where people posted links to the membership announcement thread. Never really figured someone would consider scamming that way.

Now can you assist in preventing others falling prey to this and post a Scam accusation about it.

Be sure to include as much information as you can like a TXID and the correspondences. Naming the member as well so they can be appropriately tagged, to prevent them "earning" more.

The cynic in me would really like to see the above done, because I'm not going to to lie I half expect this to become the next big merit beg. It's easy to feel sympathy for someone with a good story and maybe consider alleviating their loss by tossing them a merit.

2628  Other / Meta / Re: Merits for posters not making redundant quotes. on: November 03, 2018, 02:22:27 PM
P.S Do you have any references for how legendaries are using redundant quotes?

Here is 1 I found in a couple seconds. It's not the best example but the post is directly above theirs. They could have easily snipped part/all of it or not quoted it all and used something like this ^^ to indicate a direct reply above. This is also an example of a post that is using a quote to hide their own generic post and prop it up so to speak. I see a lot of this in the discussion board, a quote for no other purpose than to falsely portray a discussion.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3454152.msg43485450#msg43485450

Edit here's another: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5026203.msg45900022#msg45900022
No need for the full quoted OP. They didn't specifically address anything just a general discussion which is fine; just shows there was no need for the quote

In this instance I wanted to make a point, so I thought it would be stronger if I awarded everybody who hadn't quoted.

Makes sense, I'm sure the thread will stick out for some. I may link that to my posting tips guide to show there are benefits to preventing bloody eyeballs.

I'm just so glad you were able to find a way to merit low rank members, I know it was getting tough.
2629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: heeelp! where are the coins? on: November 03, 2018, 02:08:55 PM
OP

Can you confirm the address that you were given to send the funds? This will clear up whether or not you made an error.

Without a little more info it's hard to assist any further. If you can confirm you sent everything correctly, then the next step is using the txid as proof positive of your claim you paid them.

Also you mentioned something about adjusting amounts, and/or not sending the exact amount they requested. This may have made it difficult for them to confirm your particular transaction if they are looking for a set amount, this again should be cleared up with the txid.

When you input the recipient address, did you copy paste it or type it out? Either way it is always good practice to review the address before sending.
2630  Other / Meta / Re: Merits for posters not making redundant quotes. on: November 03, 2018, 01:56:02 PM
Nice idea. I was lost at first assuming you started the thread, then the morning fog cleared and it made sense.

Definitely a couple of posts that had 0 content value, but none of them received any added benefits by receiving that merit. On that note I don't disagree with you awarding them merit for creating a post that had "formatting" quality lets say.

In the future it would be better to review the message as well, because a lot of 1 line shit posters do just drop whatever they can on the board without quoting anything. They treat page 55 the same as page 1. I've used this topic I created in the past, I just drop it wherever I see someone poorly formatting a post IMO.
2631  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T9+ won't start hashing on: November 03, 2018, 01:18:08 PM
It looks like 3 chains are missing so that might be 1 entire hashboard. Start by ensuring the ribbon cables are all seated properly, as well as your PCI-E connections.

I'm not near my T9+ atm so I can't compare them right now. I'll go back through my posts to see if I have any extra info to add.

Here is a thread where some issues were discussed. No solutions to your problem but you can compare what you are seeing with other logs.

2632  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: November 03, 2018, 01:08:55 PM
The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later. The thing you were trying to post was saved as a draft. This limit decreases substantially as your account becomes more established.

This gem is from one of the cryptozink spam stragglers, poor little brand new account lol.
2633  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS Obelisk SC1 x2 on: November 02, 2018, 11:20:14 PM
How about adding some images of the miners so we know they are real.

Some details would be nice like the ship from and where you're willing to ship to.

Escrow and acceptable payment methods. Pricing is up to you, but usually helps to state what you'd accept.

Here are some [WTS] Guidelines.
2634  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 841 - 16+ TH/s - Immersion Cooling Review / Test Setup on: November 02, 2018, 10:34:23 PM
Just wanted to give this a bump. I've been checking around and couldn't find anything showing this up and running.

Were you guys able to get it operational and stable??
2635  Economy / Reputation / Re: More bitching about Flying Hellfish on: November 02, 2018, 04:50:54 PM
Was there anything deleted in the thread? I can't tell but looking at it all I see is FH providing their opinion on the topic. Just because they are a MOD and their opinion isn't inline with 2nd amendment protectionist views, they should still be able to express that freely.

We wouldn't want to stiffle the right of people to express themselves freely here, within the guidelines/rules of the forum. This includes you and being able to express your feelings/thought on the subject.

Your exploitation of these attacks to cast these people as terrorists for supporting the laws and foundation of our nation is truly sickening.

It's refreshing to see the term terrorist applied here to the actual perpetrators of these crimes whether intentional or not.

Also you are a fucking Canadian, how about you stop injecting yourself into all of our internal policies. Oh that's right you live in Canada and it is a frozen wasteland so you have to focus on the US all the time.

I can admit to being more enthralled with US politics from an early age, because of the spectacle. The constant nearly never ending campaigning and the at times outright hilarity of the people and their actions that deem themselves adequate to rule govern. Canadian politics are generally boring by comparison, at least until a few years ago when we had a good year of real winners popping up all over the place.

To the point though this is a global forum and anyone should feel free to communicate their ideas or thoughts on any subject. However feel free to petition theymos for a U.S.A (insert repetitive chant) local board.
2636  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How about a solar power source for pop one price mining on: November 02, 2018, 02:53:39 PM
No this was  to be a portable  setup to mine with say 1 or 2 L3+  or 600 to 1400 watts.

Mine only in the day.
The inverters  are not any good.

Okay I see. That is a neat idea would have been cool if you had found reliable equipment. I could fishing shacks everywhere running these all winter.

Looks like your running into more and more competition for land to keep expanding the arrays. Nice to see Solar catching on, here's to hoping you can expand next year and don't have cycle as much equipment just keeping pumping that hashrate.
2637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ravencoin [RVN] PoW GPU Mining | Asset Transfer Blockchain (Updated ANN) on: November 02, 2018, 02:47:03 PM
I don't know everything but the vote is part of the activation of the asset layer. Not sure why the vote is there as the asset layer is the purpose behind Raven.

Whoever is mining Ravencoin to RSa5JNhT8CQT44DDJ9gq2ospns5r9zBZM5 please update your wallet to 2.1.1. Your node is voting no and your blocks are the single reason assets aren't activating.

Can someone explain what this guy is saying?

and this as well

There is one address out there that has been mining to either an old wallet, or is voting No to the asset layer activation. They have enough hashrate to affect the outcome of the vote. There was some discussion about it on the Discord last night I just haven't had time to gather more/better information.

Hope that helps
2638  Other / Archival / Re: Flying Hellfish is such a canadian idiot... a true normie... on: November 01, 2018, 07:00:32 PM
Oh no all this Canada bashing and generalizing to... prove a point?

It's starting to hurt my internet feeling. At least it may have if the fresh air up here, wasn't all of a sudden filled with government brain control products. Mmmmmm that's good mind control.

But here's where the Canadians can help. We are great at taking care of snowflakes. Did your right to spew trash get trampled on so sorry, it's tough when you want to roll around and revel in a spammy shitshow of a forum; and the majority don't. In this case put on your blinders and move on, no need to let us feel the pain it's causing.

I assume this is some sort of disagreement about the right to bear arms?

Makes sense and sums up the problem here. The topics created make little sense and are placed where ever they want. B1t is a big reason why I used to barely dip a toe in the P &S section because it used to appear that's what could be expected for discussion.
2639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Current List of Competitive Hardware - October 2018 on: November 01, 2018, 06:39:34 PM
Not sure you will need to inquire with the company directly or follow the link to the discussion thread and ask there.

Again this thread isn't meant to discuss the various hardware just to document them and help keep details up to date.

That is why there are links where available for reviews and discussion.
2640  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I build a 100 MW mining facility? on: October 31, 2018, 11:55:35 AM
Depends on what you really want to do.

Franky1 gives a great breakdown, you could just grab up coins and sit on them; this works for people time and time again.

If you do go the facility route it's not a bad time to  get established but things can change very quickly. Here are a few topics you can read through to help you try and think of everything, like is that the toal cost of electricity including service fees.

Current List of Competitive Hardware - October 2018

There is some really efficient gear coming out. The second hand gear or EOL gear that is out there is a good price but at your electricity prices you have to wonder will they be efficient enough for long enough to make a profit. The Avalon 841 is not bad in that regard with the reliability and efficient downclocking. The S9 has become a little more efficient with the AB firmware but there are some reliability issues that are hit and miss.

First time/Small miner reference for getting started.

This was geared to home miners but the concepts apply.

Now if you do build this facility, I've often suggested to others set aside a portion of the facility to offer hosting. You would already be establishing a secure facility for your investment so that's taken care of. You will also be (you mention you are) or have someone knowledgeable in troubleshooting and mine management. This way you are bringing in some revenue to help cover operating costs to increase profitability.
