2661  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance - where is it located? on: March 01, 2023, 02:33:55 PM
How does a company like Binance pay taxes (if at all?) and under which law are they to respond to any disbutes?
We know for sure that Binance US is located in United States, they pay taxes and all other stuff in US, but this was created in 2019 and they exist much longer.

Coingecko website is showing that original Binance exchange is using Cayman Islands location, probably to pay less taxes and avoid regulations.
CoinMarketCap (that is owend by Binance) and they are not saying anything about current location, but we know that it was founded in China

It's much easier to find out where CZ is currently located, and if he is in China than Binance exchange is also in China  Wink
2662  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto ATMs in Tokyo? on: March 01, 2023, 02:17:55 PM
There are two crypto ATMs listed on the website Coinatmradar for the city Tokyo. Does anyone have more information on these machines?
There are more places you can find Bitcoin ATM machines for exchanging Bitcoin or purchasing goods with Bitcoin in Japan.
Try to search your location in coinmap.org website, it is showing much more places in Tokyo that support Bitcoin.
On different website coinatmfinder.com I see 4 Bitcoin ATM locations in Tokyo.
However, I don't have any additional information about them related with fees, limits, identification, etc.

Sources I used:
https://coinmap.org/
https://www.coinatmfinder.com/bitcoin-atm-location/Japan

EDIT:
One more useful source map and app you can use for finding places for spending Bitcoin in Japan:

2663  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: yahoo62278 scammed the forum with his fake donation (part 2) on: March 01, 2023, 01:59:07 PM
...

Pocket Science?
First time I hear about that, but it must be something related with thieves and criminals who are stealing stuff from people pockets... it's science for pockets.
Now comes the twist, I search for term Pocket Science, and there is actual company with that same name, and Pocket Science myth.  Shocked

PS
Would you guys please stop bumping this topic, and moderators please lock it.
2664  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ban member GodsOfSolana? on: March 01, 2023, 01:51:19 PM
I don't know the reason for this user selling his newbie account which previously looked like it belonged to a project representative on the forum. A while ago there was a signature campaign about them on the forums, but it was only for a week before it was finally put on pause.
Maybe because on our conversation I told him the truth about his solana shitchain stopping all the time, and he couldn't handle the truth  Cheesy

So I don't think they will be banned for trying to sell their account. Maybe if they are spamming.
Nobody said they should be banned for selling his account, but he literally turned all his previous posts in spam fest with editing and adding same sentence, that is definition for spam.
I see moderators deleted most of his posts, but few of them are still visible, so maybe they can edit them and return original text from archive.

2665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin weaken the Wests ability to fight enemies of freedom? on: February 28, 2023, 08:01:25 PM
One of the most valid criticisms of Bitcoin is that it reduces the ability of the Unite States to sanction enemies of the West
Oh please... give me a break  Roll Eyes
There is no East or West, they are all political puppet controlled by small group of people, and we should all be aware of that after things that happened in last few years and decades.
Military industrial complex machinery is running full steam and I only see paid people putting more gasoline on this wild fire.
Bitcoin can be used by anyone without limits, and sanctions are not doing anything btw, they made much more damage to the ''West''.
All this circus reminds me a lot on George Orwell's book (and movies) 1984, with Oceania ''fighting'' Eurasia, and in reality few rich lunatics are in war with majority of regular people.

The US is the military arm of the WEF, and as such is one of the greatest enemies of freedom. Bitcoin gives us the chance to resist the banking oligarchs, who are seeking to restrict our freedom.
I could be wrong, but I think they are still allowing us to play with Bitcoin until they release their stupid CBDC crap.
For some people it will be easier to accept that slave CBDC money, now when they got used to Bitcoin and QR codes.
Again, I hope I am wrong... but let's check back on this post in 5 or 7 yearsm, and see if I was wrong.
2666  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Stax (Ledger's latest hardware wallet) on: February 28, 2023, 07:45:32 PM
Decrypt just released first in-depth review of new Ledger Stax hardware wallet that is showing most we saw so far, but I am not sure if this is paid or sponsored review.
Funny enough they didn't like ledger's E-ink display (I like it btw) because it can't be fully used to display NFT's in full color, and with right they say that some users don't like wireless protocol for communicating with other devices.
I expected to see more from this review, maybe comparison with older ledger wallets or showing other improvements or weak points, but whatever.

2667  Economy / Reputation / Ban member GodsOfSolana? on: February 28, 2023, 07:36:26 PM
I just notice that member GodsOfSolana edited ALL of his previous messages with text ''account for sale''
This shitcoiner is blatantly advertising he is selling his worthless newbie account and he is spamming forum in this process.

This is GodsOfSolana account:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3535503

Archived posts:
https://ninjastic.space/search?author=GodsOfSolana

I think he should be permanently banned from bitcointalk forum, or at least all his messages should be all deleted by moderators.

I did report some of his posts but I had to create this topic to get more attention from mods and to hear oppinion from other members.

Topic is self-moderated for obvious reasons.

2668  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitcoin Bookstore on: February 28, 2023, 07:23:25 PM
And if you like the project, please support it by buying your next Bitcoin book through the website so we get a small commission on the sales Wink.
Your project looks cool, but Bitcoin books should have the option to be purchased with Bitcoin directly, not only to pay Amazon and fill pockets of Jeff Bezos.
Maybe you can add additional option with alternative like BTCPayServer, if book creators accept BTC payments, and i am sure some of them accept it.
It's cool that you are accepting donations both in BTC and in Lightning Network.

EDIT:
Amazon gift cards paid with Bitcoin could work as alternative, but I prefer direct BTC payments.
2669  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trezor phishing scam is in progress on: February 28, 2023, 07:08:47 PM
Scammers never sleep  Roll Eyes
Few day ago in one of my temporary email addresses I received this two messages from fake Trezor with similar content, but it was obvious to me so I didn't click anything and I permanently deleted both of them.
I think this is not connected with any Trezor leak, but to some other crypto service... so they are using any crypto leak hoping that people are using hardware wallets.
2670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to bridge BTC to another chains? on: February 28, 2023, 03:47:05 PM
I have just participated in this market a few recent months and begin with some BTC. I am saving them in my cold wallet and I'm wondering how to bridge my BTC to another chains such as Ethereum, Polygon to get more profit from Defi. Please help me and give me some good ways (reasonable cost and safe) to do that. Thank all!
Don't do this! Any token that has bitcoin name is not real bitcoin, and has some peg that can be broken.
Moving Bitcoin to other shitcoin chains you are making it full centralized and controlled by few people who can make your new token worthless.
Just looks what is constantly happening to Solana shitchain, and people are still using this shit, Binance chain is no better and runned by CZ and few of his friends.
There is also a risk you could face soon with regulations, because everything else except Bitcoin is going to be considered as security.
2671  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase to Suspend Binance USD (BUSD) Trading on: February 28, 2023, 03:27:08 PM
Also, CZ should start asking for assistance from his backers from China.
CZ is looking more and more like a convict from Chinese prison with this new haircut and fake smile.
I don't think his friends can help him this time.

This was kinda expected after everything that has happened lately with Paxos and BUSD. I mean, even CZ announced that Binance will simply have to move away from BUSD eventually so no surprise that their biggest competition is already doing that, especially since they have their own stablecoin.
I think Coinbase exchange will have big problems in future with shitcoin securities, so this BUSD doesn't mean anything if we look at bigger picture.
Regulators are probably going to target all stablecoins in near future, maybe because they are making move for introducing of their CBDC slave currencies.
We are in big trouble if people don't realize this on time.... because you obviously wont be able to buy and sell anything without that junk.  Tongue

2672  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: February 28, 2023, 03:16:11 PM
What does the community think of when it is appropriate to use ChipMixer? What is the best way to reduce risk while taking all parties on the other end of the chain, who may not be focusing on decentralization and privacy? Does the team have official responses to these questions?
You can use ChipMixer anyway you want, but my suggestion is to try and avoid using them in combination with big centralized exchanges.
There are even cases of people sending coins to Binance and Coinbase without any issues, but I heard cases of frozen and lost coins, so it can be a risk.
If you are using coins from ChipMixer for direct payment or for trading with someone p2p you should be just fine with almost everything.

is it the site is down?
It's down for me as well.
I suspect that is because of constant ddos attacks, but I am sure the are working to fix this so just be patient and wait for official CM reply.
2673  Economy / Reputation / Re: 'Bitcointalk forum is going downhill because of dkbit98' - CoinPayCard.net SCAM on: February 28, 2023, 02:58:34 PM
Ik It's not the actual proof, As I mentioned earlier they have the same address of that mobile application
Address they used is the same like on that shady Payday website from Nigeria, 256 Chapman Road, but posting first few digits could be helpful for finding more information about this scammer.
I am expecting from all other affected members to post this, so we can collect all information that could be useful for finding this scammer.

Setup a business. Get a credit card from a company that allows unlimited employee cards that you can set limits on. Charge people for the card (profit), give a crappy exchange rate for the BTC -> fiat load (more profit), then set the limit of the card to that. And take the rewards / cashback that the card offers (even more profit).
Obviously all the KYC would go back the the business, but does that really matter?
It could work in theory, and I think some of the alternative cards are doing something similar.
Potential issue could arrise if banks notice something suspicious with transactions and block or ban accounts.
Fresh news from Mastercard and Visa - they are freezing all activities related with blockchain and crypto partnership until new regulation is better clarified:

2674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner Necroposting and Bumping Question on: February 28, 2023, 01:55:00 PM
If necroposting isn't allowed to prevent spamming why aren't very old threads lock?
Answering something years after other member asked a question is stupid and clear case of necroposting.
Original topics doesn't have to be locked at all, unless original author decides he wants to do that, or if topic turns into spam fest that can result in moderator locking it.

If I come across an old thread from 2021 and I think I have new input to contribute, would do you advice me to start a new thread instead of bumping the old one?
It depends from case to case, and there is no universal answer for this question.

2676  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for someone who can deliver Custom Bitcoin Ticker Device on: February 28, 2023, 11:52:02 AM
@agentF
Does it have to be this specific Bitcoin Ticker device, or something similar would also work for your use case?
If you are interested in alternative devices I can send you more information here or with personal messages.
Please note that I can't do any delivery service for this devices.
2677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you running your BTC wallet on Linux? Why? on: February 27, 2023, 07:06:01 PM
Can someone tell me the most important part why Linux OS is better to run Bitcoin wallet than Windows OS?
Sure, most important advantage is that Linux is open source, they don't spy on you like wiNd0ws, and there are not so many malware made for Linux os.
That means you won't have to use any antivirus software, and you will generally be safer with anything related with Bitcoin and crypto wallets.
There are many Linux distributions, but I would start with Fedora, Debian or Linux Mint.

As for me, there are many reasons why I stick with windows, I love doing many things on winOS and those things aren't available on Linux but I am just curious to know, what's so great about running Electrum BTC wallet for example on a Linus OS?
There is nothing ''great'' about that, most Bitcoin wallets including Electrum works the same way on Linux like on wiNd0ws.
After initial learning curve you will not notice much difference and you will never think of getting back to spy os again.
2678  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: February 27, 2023, 06:53:26 PM
Quick question - Did you test how durable Passport wallet is, and what happens if it drops on ground?
I am doing some research about this and I want to see how many hardware wallet manufacturers are stress testing their devices for durabllity.

Unrelated with my previous question, if there are roadmap plans and ideas for Future of Passport device please post it here.

PS
I think it's time for Passport to release accessories like skins, cases and other stuff.
2679  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet company and seed phrase question on: February 27, 2023, 06:38:30 PM
Yes, since their software won't be deleted from your computer, nor from GitHub, if their headquarters get nuked in a war.
Unless he lives near the place where hardware wallet company is, where nuke drops... than it won't be any more software or hardware left.
There are much more realistic scenarios that could affect his hardware wallet stops working, maybe some wide range electronic cyber attack that could affect all electronic devices, but then everything would be affected.

Fun fact:
Ledger company is located in France, but someone would have to nuke all China because that is the place where ledger is manufactured  Wink
2680  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is Metal Seed Storage Safe in an Earthquake? on: February 27, 2023, 06:28:37 PM
Here's the thing though - if a fireproof safe was a completely, 100% reliable method of storing things, then you could just put a paper wallet in it and be completely safe. There would be no need for safe deposit boxes at banks throughout the world. Cloud storage would be unnecessary, since an external hard drive in a fireproof safe would be 100% safe. And so on.
I wouldn't waste money on some state of the art fireproof safe, but it's not a bad idea to buy fireproof bags that are not very expensive and they can have multiple use cases.
Similar bags can also protect from RFID electronic attacks, and there are waterpoof bags that can be very useful for everything.
This can be later hidden anywhere you want, it doesn't have to be safe deposit.

But keeping paper in our hands is easier when we comparing with keeping gold and fiat money that is why bank deposits were famous for but nothing is completely safe so keeping at least two backup in different secured place can give us chances to recover the wallet in case one thing lost due to natural calamities and we are still alive out there and need money for survival.  Grin
I don't see any difference between seed phrase stored on paper and fiat money that is printed on paper  Wink
You could say that seed phrases are better, safer and you print them yourself, but I don't trust banks on keeping money...it's all fake numbers on screen.

It goes back to testing this sort of stuff out yourself, in order to be sure. There's so much misdirection with advertising, and specifications you really can't trust the manufacturers word on this sort of thing. It'll come at an expense obviously, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I agree.
Jameson Lopp did amazing job with testing all kind of metal seed backup options, and there are guys who are testing cars, smartphones, and everything else... so why not.
