2661  Economy / Reputation / Re: My honest two questions to Royse777. on: February 04, 2023, 08:14:07 PM
Royse in headlines... here we go again.  Roll Eyes
I really don't understand why he is asking members to beg other members to remove their neutral feedback, it's not the same like negative feedback.
Don't get me wrong, I think people can change but it looks to me that Royse is just making cosmetic changes and nothing more.

PS
Full disclosure, I received one of this message from member who is now in one of campaigns managed by Royse.
I am monitoring posts from this member and I can easily return my neutral feedback.
2662  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: February 04, 2023, 07:51:50 PM
I am surprised that Google didn't buy them out. Or maybe they tried but they failed. But yeah, they really want to participate in this AI hype as it was announced today that they invested $300 million AI startup Anthropic.
They probably tried to buy or invest, but I think ChatGPT already started with anti-google idea, and even Microsoft is planning to invest $10 Billions in them.
It's just a battle of tech giants and I don't see anything good coming out from this move towards AI future, except maybe for cheaters.

You mean anti-cheat? That's already being developed, as shahzadafzal announced it few days ago. Its far from being perfect though and it still gives you false positive results.
Yeah, I have nothing against chanting, it was typing mistake Cheesy
McAfee said that same people created antivirus software and computer viruses, so they could sell antivirus software... I think they are going to sell something like that for ChatGPT soon Wink
2663  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help I want to import seed into new wallet on: February 04, 2023, 07:26:25 PM
What keyboard is the most used with good review that I can use to import my recovery seed into a new wallet? I am scared that my recovery seed can be revealed, I am using a fancy keyboard I downloaded from Google playstore but I read somewhere on here that another keyboard that doesn't follow your phone from factory is bad. Since the one that came with my phone is buggy what do you think I should do now?
First I wouldn't keep any serious Bitcoin amount on any mobile wallet, especially if you are using standard android smartphone that is always connected to internet.
Acceptable option would be to use your old phone offline as a part of multisig setup, or phone that is connected with your hardware wallet.
In that case you won't have to worry about keyboard app you are using, but I would strongly suggest using some open source keyboard app with de-googled phone.
2664  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: February 04, 2023, 11:53:01 AM
2665  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: February 03, 2023, 07:35:39 PM
Looks like they have significantly different algorithms. i.e. the one I was using, contentatscale.ai thinks that your post, that I'm quoting, is only 42% real, whereas openai-openai-detector shows it as 87.65% real. That's a pretty big difference. It may take a while till a truly reliable AI detector is developed, if that's possible at all (for a long-term - I doubt it).
ChatGPT recently started with their subscription model (like I predicted) and they obviously want to earn money from all this AI hype,
but problem is that now g00gle is working on their own competition AI powered chat project called Atlas, so I am expecting more of this AI generated posts in future.
I am really going to be suspicious whenever I see newbies writing wall of text in forum, that looks to good to be written by a human.
Now we need someone to create Anti-ChatGPT tools.
2666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: opinion: it would be better off if taproot was rolled back on: February 03, 2023, 06:49:45 PM
on layer 2, there is this horrible proposal called TARO, which makes use of taproot and pretends to bring digital assets to the LN, such as stablecoins, arbitrary tokens, nfts, etc.
Big difference is that this stable coins on LN and other layer2 is backed only by Bitcoin, and they don't need other centralized shitcoin blockchain.
I would not keep anything is stable coins long term, but I could see bug use case for them in some real decentralized exchange, as alternative to fiat currencies.
We could argue that most of the current stable coins wouldn't exist if we had something similar on Bitcoin.
Saying that regulators will now attack Bitcoin because of LN is hilarious to me.

we would be better off undoing taproot via a fork with at least a 95% consensus threshold of full nodes and miners. This would probably take some years to implement a safe code to undo/block taproot; in the meantime, we would have to tolerate taproot in the blockchain.
Go ahead and make a proposal about this.
There is no single authority who makes decisions in Bitcoin, and I don't think we should fork anything or ''undone'' Taproot at all.

Also, I think these kinda of softforks should not happen anymore. Only forks that fix bugs, fix vulnerabilities, enhance security, but not forks that "add cool features".
Oh yeah, ban all softworks  Roll Eyes
I don't know if you live under the rock, but Taproot can really improve privacy a lot, and it's not here because of ''cool features''.
2667  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2022] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: February 03, 2023, 06:13:17 PM
Thank you for these suggestions Smiley Would you like to elaborate a bit more about the new categories? I mean to say a few words about their description or what type of users would fit in each category...? Maybe give some examples that cross your mind right now, together with some links to topics showing why X can be considered Peacemaker, why Y can be considered Troublemaker or why Z can be considered Drama Queen? This may be helpful.
I mean it's obvious if you look at the names I suggested and there is no need for writing big explanations, my idea was just to freshen up next year competition.

I dropped water on it. Tongue
Don't throw it away in garbage, maybe you could use it later for spear parts.
Believe it or not, almost all hardware wallets that exist today are not water resistant, so better be careful with new device you purchase, or keep in some case or bag.
Only device I know that claims it will be water resistant is upcoming 1inch hardware wallet, but I hope others will soon follow that practice.
2668  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 03, 2023, 02:12:21 PM
I literally can’t use neither of those exchanges. Binance allows crypto txs tho, so btc deposit, swap for usdc, and usdc withdrawal. I just can’t use fiat. CryptoCom is a full block (fiat and crypto).
It's strange they didn't ask for your blood type and genetic material, as well as your elementary and pre school records  Cheesy
Now imagine people who would go with all that shenanigans for $100, and in the end they end up with locked or hacked account and leaked private information.
I am sure many people would again blame Bitcoin for all this... like in this case posted below  Roll Eyes

No wonder BTC and LTC is not accepted by -normal- people who make the first step into Bitcoin....
2669  Other / Meta / QR Code Forum Avatars? on: February 03, 2023, 01:54:48 PM
I was wondering would you use your phone to scan QR code that is added as Avatar image in Bitcointalk forum profile?
Avatar could be fully QR code or only partially, but this could be used for directing to different websites used for advertisement.
This is not the same as clickable signature, but it's very similar, and it would be even more effective with responsive forum design.

First examples with my profile and QR code directing to one of my topics:

Second example with QR directing to Chipmixer website, and personal text could be added bellow Avatar image:

QR code image in post can contain both clickable link and scanning.
I know this could open a whole new can of worms, but I think we should be ready for this, since QR code adoption is wide spreading everywhere.
Would it be against any forum rules if people started to add QR codes in their posts, and should we report QR codes that are directing to suspicious or scam website?
Something like this:

Maybe someone knows if there is some script or extension that can automatically read qr codes and show links with mouse hover?

2670  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: February 03, 2023, 01:05:14 PM
I've done some testing, including AI posts, human posts and mixed posts, and it works pretty good.
Did you by any chance compare this website with other AI detectors I posted before?
One of them was showing nice results in my testing and it provided percentage chance for text to be generated by AI or not.
I don't expect any of this tools to be 100% accurate, mostly because people like to repeat stuff and that can especially be applied to written text, people who are good at that can sometimes be flagged as AI.
This doesn't mean they copy-paste text, but their brain can work in similar way.

AI detectors I found so far:

Also, is it right that I’ve won a Ledger? Mine broke a few months ago and I was just postponing on buying a new one. And a new X model? Shocked
If it's not a secret how exactly your ledger hardware wallet broke exactly?
Was it physical damage, problem with display or some other kind of software and hardware problem?

Let's see some more competition for the spambuster next year Wink. Congratulations to everyone that was a nominee of course.
How about creating next year category for people who are making most good reports to moderators?
This could increase number of reports all around the forum, it will make everything cleaner, and people will have a bit more motivation to do it.
Category name could be something like Best Reporter.

2672  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: February 03, 2023, 11:26:26 AM
Update and more information about Trezor SatoshiLabs new TROPIC01 secure element.
According to post from Tropic Square CEO Evzen Englberth, design of chips is functional and I they can move to next phase of development.
TROPIC01 is manufactured by UMC in Taiwan, it will be 55nm chip packaged in Malaysia, and final chip will be 4x4mm with Ibex RISCV core.
RISCV means that the chip will be open source and auditable.

It's interesting that Trezor already started working on TROPIC02, complete SoC (System-on-Chip) that will have integrated TROPIC01 and the application processor cores.

Last of us se spremam pogledati čim stignem, nisam nikada igrao tako da nemam neka očekivanja.

2674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-ready linux distro on: February 02, 2023, 09:08:53 PM
But the encrypted data is not hidden. Sure, the user profile is encrypted, and maybe you can even hide the profile from various menus on the OS, but I doubt very much the entire volume is hidden when the phone's storage is directly examined. The header and the rest of the necessary data to decrypt and log in to that profile will still be there. And so you can be coerced in to decrypting it.
I didn't test this myself, but I can bet they would much easier find your hidden volumes on laptop you are using, than hidden profile in pixel phone with GrapheneOS that have secure space.
They could also coerce you to give them access to your hidden volumes, or anything else they are looking for.
I am also not against people using Linux and doing whatever they want with it.

You need to buy the full version if you want hidden volume support, and the full version is not open source.
I just gave you one example, and I didn't use this app, but I am sure there are other options available.
2675  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Krux DIY Hardware Wallet on: February 02, 2023, 08:49:15 PM
How about secure elements? Is any of these SoCs protected against just reading out its flash contents through a debug port or desoldering a flash chip from the PCB?
Odudex can correct me if I am wrong, but I think everything is erased from Krux once you turn the power off, so there is nothing to read and copy.
Than you have to load seed phrase each time you turn the power on, best with QR code scan, but it can be done manually.
That is why we don't need to have or trust secure elements, and one of the reasons I like Krux.
2676  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why doesn't every hardware wallet support two-factor seed phrases? on: February 02, 2023, 08:43:54 PM
If you're using a 24 word seed phrase, you can just split it in half and let 12 of them be your "extended passphrase". As long as you hide the two halves in different places, it's accomplishing the same thing. If that's how you think of passphrases.  Shocked
You should never do this with your seed phrase, and certainly not if that is your only copy, this way you are creating single point of failure and recipe for disaster.
I heard many scary stories of people trying to act smart, mixing words, splitting words and losing all bitcoin they had with extra complexity.
If you want to split something up than you should create multisig setup, or use inferior Secret Shamir Sharing scheme, that is still much better than what you suggested.
2677  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: February 02, 2023, 08:33:12 PM
Something like this, but obviously on the other side.
Make sure to double check if you have the correct side.
I remember guys who worked on my new windows several years ago, they totally screwed everything up and set them up in reversed way, yeah this really happened. Smiley
Instead of using this hinges on heavy doors, I would suggest adding them to smaller doors maybe on wardrobe, closet or maybe smaller kitchen or toilet elements.
Nobody will look for seed words in my toilet, right?   Cheesy

2678  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the way out when an hardware wallet is compromised? on: February 02, 2023, 07:59:39 PM
What happens if the hardware wallet is defective or compromised? Is there an alternate route.
Like any defective item you purchase, you will return it and receive refund or replacement device.
Most cases of compromised devices is made by mistake or users with exposing seed words, and most other cases can be avoided using multisig setup
Alternative option is to make your own DIY signing device like SeedSigner and Krux, or use old laptop as offline airgapped device.

Which other wallet is ideal for storing bitcoin?
There are no ideal wallets for Bitcoin.
Best hardware wallet should be open source, airgapped, tested by security experts, and not very expensive.
I made a list of currently available open source hardware wallets:

2679  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [List] Bitcoin Payment Processors on: February 02, 2023, 07:49:36 PM
I came across a new payment processor yesterday on Reddit[1]. The developers wrote a plugin for BTCPayServer which basically allows you to accept any cryptocurrency, and automatically convert that to BTC. More details can be found here[2].
They offer really interesting service and I noticed them before, but I don't think they can accept ANY cryptocurrency.
Based on their AnonPay Payment Generator we can only add coin that is listed on their page that is available with their partners.
We can't really pick random coin from CoinGecko, but it's funny to see FTX token is still listed there  Cheesy
2680  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange with cheapest fees on: February 02, 2023, 07:24:05 PM
I'm going to launch a bitcoin adoption campaign in my local community soon, and in order to give accurate guidance, I'm looking for the best alternative of exchange to suggest people where they can acquire their first bitcoin coins, and hold them (I know it's not recommended, but people aren't going to spend 100$ or more in a cold wallet).
So in reality you want to create exchange adoption campaign and not campaign for bitcoin  Tongue
Nobody said they should pay $100 for hardware wallets, but spreading word about Bitcoin in your way is wrong.
Anyone can have cold wallet for free using old laptop or smartphone, that is 100 times better than keeping coins on Crypto.com or Binance that can easily collapse like FTX and other lending platforms.
Instead of using centralized exchanges, and going with all verification procedure, I would suggest everyone to try P2P trading and Bisq decentralized exchange.
You can also find trusted members in forum who can exchange Bitcoin for fiat currencies.

One interesting app I heard about that can be used in Europe is called Relai.app, and it can be used without registration.
Fees there are not lowest, but they have non-custodial wallet and you can use it without kyc for your use case.
