1701  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Neo and Atomic wallet : how can I move the neo or swap for btc ? on: June 19, 2023, 09:42:34 AM
I've realized that I should be using Electrum instead (but, despite some great tutorials, I couldn't install it - Sparrow looks pretty good otherwise, doesn't it?)
Electrum or Sparrow are good options if you want to have bitcoin only wallet.
As alternative for closed source multicoin wallets like Trust or Atomic my best alternative is Unstoppable wallet, that is open source and only available for mobile devices.
Unstoppable wallet has built in Tor support for better privacy and it's easy even for newbies to use it, they even have swap feature.

- What should I do? And above all, what can I do? Swap neo for btc? Send them to a neo wallet? Or something else? (I haven't reinstalled atomic wallet for a long time). Can I use the private keys in a neo wallet for example ?
Don't open Atomic wallet, or at least don't open it on device that is connected with internet.
You should export your keys offline and import them to another Neo wallet, than you should sell that shitcoin for Bitcoin... I mean that is what I would do in your shoes.  Cool
1702  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How free crypto wallet devs make money ? on: June 19, 2023, 09:35:26 AM
With this Atomic wallet hack, I have a lot of questions. For example, how do free wallet developers make money? It's probably a naive question, but in the end, safety also depends on the reliability of the team, and they're not going to work for free.
They are mostly making money from donations or from partnership and investment deals.
Some wallets made partnership with instant centralized exchanges and they are taking percentage of the profit, others are providing coinjoin services for profit, etc.
I think that Electrum and similar wallets (Sparrow, Specter, Lily, etc.) are fully working on donations, and they started as open source community projects.
Closed source wallets should be avoided because they are always hiding something.

So what's going to happen with Atomic? Who's going to reimburse users ?
I think they are going to shut down their business verysoon, and last thing I heard they are in Kazakhstan court.
1703  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Marketplace to sell gift cards with bitcoin with low fees on: June 19, 2023, 09:26:13 AM
Hello everone , i've been looking to trade some gift cards , i found some good market places and i wanna know if there is  any better options in terms of fees ,  currently using buysellvouchers.com and eneba..i would like to know more , thanks
You can always offer to sell your gift cards here in bitcointalk marketplace section, and for purchasing cards I know several websites that work very good.

Bitrefill and The Bitcoin Company are currently one of the best options for purchasing gift cards with bitcoin without kyc verification.
There are also some P2P websites who offered gift cards trading but I never used them so I can't say more about them.
Note that most of this websites are centralized services so be careful when you use them.

Wink

1708  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Square is considering making a hardware wallet for Bitcoin on: June 17, 2023, 10:46:17 PM
So you will be able to link your fully KYCd Coinbase coins with your fully linked self custody wallet that links back to Block to have them keep a way of recovering your keys.

It's just like banking with Chase. But with crypto.
I wonder what could go wrong??  Probably nothing   Roll Eyes
Now I can only imagine hypothetical scenario with Coinbase getting attacked by US and other governments around the world, and they would have to give all customer information to authorities.
That means, there it zero privacy and custody of coins is questionable, because they can probably be seized much easier with all that personal data being in government hands.
Tough luck for all the people in places where Coinbase is not working, I guess no Block for them...  and nothing to lose.
1709  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Campaign Manager Utility on: June 17, 2023, 10:35:56 PM
I will use it to manage a campaign soon but other testers are encouraged. As I mentioned, it's still new software and has not been tested in any real situation yet.
If it's not a secret, what campaign are you planning to start?
Don't forget to check quality of the posts, because many members can write enough number of posts but that doesn't mean this pots are good enough for campaign terms.
I guess that you could add some AI helper to check quality but I really wouldn't trust machine to do anything more than spell and plagiarism checking.

Speaking about AI, did anyone see how AI is giving everyone free valid keys for wiNd0ws11 activation?  Cheesy

1711  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: June 16, 2023, 03:32:23 PM
Or did they just a slap some random bullshit timeline together with no intention of sticking even to the bare minimum?
They probably did just that, and they are hoping that everything will calm down and people will gradually forget about this issue.
It could be possible they are working on open sourcing partially, but I think now it's to late for that and it wont be genuine.
I don't trust ledger and their ''car'' is going down the hill.

I also disliked the "Attach to PIN" feature, and I've spoken before about why I don't think people should use it. As you say it reduces the security of your passphrase to a simple PIN, and it also means that your passphrase is stored on the device rather than wiped after use when using a temporary passphrase.
I was thinking the same thing like you when I was considering of using ledger few years ago.
Attaching PIN also adds extra complexity since it is totally different from all other solutions used in different manufacturers of hardware wallets.

Apparently the shards aren't encrypted at all, despite Ledger previously stating this. It's literally just Shamir's. So there is no decryption key to be stored on the device or by Ledger themselves
This guy is totally lost in space... only ledger character that is worse than him, is probably ledger co-founder aka reddit moderator clown called btchip.
It's very important thing that he put a bunch of flashy rings on his fingers...  Roll Eyes

During the process, the secure channel uses an ephemeral symmetric key to securely transport the fragments.
Sounds like a bunch of BS that can't be verified at all by regular users.
1712  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: June 16, 2023, 03:16:04 PM
Since the WalletScrutiny review for Passport FE is outdated and the Passport Batch 2 build wasn't verified yet, I decided to quickly try it myself and write instructions for everyone to replicate it.
Maybe this delay with reviews was happening because WalletScrutiny was busy with stupid lawsuits they are getting lately Roll Eyes

It would be cuper cool to verify that Passport is reproducible and post it on on coldcard website BitcoinBinary, as a way to just say hello to NVK  Cool

1713  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Bounty - Earn some sats validating the website comparing hardware wallets on: June 16, 2023, 03:05:06 PM
So, I am offering 1000 sats to each person that finds an error on the website.
Very nice initiative, and maybe it could help getting more attention if you tag all accounts from hardware wallets listed on your website.
I am not hunting for 1000 sats, and I think that I already reported most of the things that should be corrected (based on my own research).

PS
Since you added third party bitcoin wallets (Sparrow, Specter etc), maybe you can add one more called Lily wallet.
It is open source wallet and it works with hardware wallets and in multisig setups:

1714  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Jade DIY hardware wallet on: June 16, 2023, 01:55:20 PM
Is someone who’s buying a PC more vulnerable to being hacked or targeted than someone who’s buying random boards off the internet? Now that’s a stat I’d like to see! Cheesy
Yes they are obviously more vulnerable, I never heard anyone getting hacked using this devices, and every minute someone who is using computers is hacked in the world.
Anyone with a working brain could realize why this is the case, and chips are all coming from same places anyway.
1715  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Seed Generation in Hardware Wallets on: June 16, 2023, 01:50:43 PM
I follow Specter DIY project since the time it was created. Regarding SEED entropy, device uses the mix from a few internal  sources :
Thank you for contributing.
I added seed generation procedure for Specter device based on github link you posted.

I won't add anything for SeedSigner until I can find clear confirmation or source link.
If I remember correctly they have some kind of dice method of seed phrase generation but I couldn't find any information about that on their website.
I would appreciate if you could help with this @JL0
1716  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: create new wallet on airgapped electrum with ledger seed on: June 16, 2023, 01:35:05 PM
Is it possible to create a new wallet on electrum with a ledger seed?  Electrum runs on tails on an air gapped ubuntu box.  Is this a good guide?  https://coinguides.org/import-ledger-trezor-seed-electrum/  Things to watch out for?
I would never do that if I was in your position
You never know how ledger generated seed phrase or if they have some hidden code, since they are closed source black box device.
It's much safer to generate your own seed words, and you can do it fully offline, and even with dices if you want to do it manually.
After generating new seed phrase you can send all coins from old ledger to newly generated addresses.
1717  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Problem Sending BTC using Ledger with Electrum Wallet on: June 16, 2023, 01:31:22 PM
Can anyone help me fix this issue?
You didn't say anything about exact model of ledger hardware wallet you are using.
If you have ledger S and ledger S plus you should be safe updating firmware, new recover feature was only affecting ledger nano X.

Is there any other way to send my BTC from this address other than using Electrum Wallet with my Ledger (even though that is how I originally set it up)?
There are few other open source wallets that can work with ledger device, that is Sparrow wallet, Lily Wallet and I think Specter wallet.
1718  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]⚡whirlwind.money | Anonymity Mining Campaign | 12% APR | Daily Rewards⚡ on: June 16, 2023, 11:05:52 AM
That's easy to test: download Tor browser Smiley It's a useful browser to have ready to use anyway, not only for this.
or he can use alternative Brave browser that is based on chromium code with Tor support.
It's not as good as Tor browser but it can be useful for occasional browsing of onion websites.

btw LoyceV speaking about this topic, did you test the new Mullvad browser (for clearnet) that is based on Tor browser as collaboration between the Tor Project and Mullvad VPN?

Ja te moram zamoliti da prestaneš objavljivati referal linkove u postovima, jer to nije dozvoljeno po pravilima foruma i možeš dobiti ban ako nastaviš tako.

1720  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Campaign Manager Utility on: June 15, 2023, 09:12:32 PM
A more detailed description of the program can be found at its Github repository.
Very nice that you made everything open source, but did any manager tested how Campaign Manager Utility in real life situation?
I am not sure how it will deal with deleted posts, or with posts that are not counted because they are in boards like off-topic, etc.
