1781  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What should you look for in a DEX? on: June 02, 2023, 06:39:01 PM
I want to look into dexes and I was wondering what is it that you would personally look for in a dex to see if it is good?
Remember this... most exchanges that have DEX label are not really decentralized, and most of them are based on centralized shitcoin blockchains.

We don't have many real DEX options but Bisq exchange should be mentioned first, you need to download open source software and run it in your computer.
BlockDX is also decentrlaized but last time I checked it didn't have much trading volume, and I don't think it gain any popularity so far.
Few other P2P alternatives can work as alternative if you are using mobile devices, like Peach Bitcoin, RoboSats or AtomicDEX wallet.
1782  Other / Meta / Re: [get yours] Images from imgur + All links to your own posts on: June 02, 2023, 06:26:33 PM
Bump! For a short while, imgur-images were working again, but it didn't last.
I heard one theory that this could be related with recently publicly released leaked images of Hunter Biden, suddenly bunch of image hosting providers stopped working correctly.
I don't know if this is true or not, but it should be checked if issue is again related only with bitcointalk forum or with everything else.
1783  Other / Meta / Re: [Bitcointalk Party - Discord sv] Bitcoin Pizza bake-off contest! Enter by June 1 on: June 02, 2023, 06:19:33 PM
This is probably one of the largest Bitcointalk Pizza Party contest, but I have to say that I am surprised by the amount of crap some people posted as pizza.
We need to have something like alternative shame voting for worst submissions, this people need to learn what pizza is, you can't put lemon, potato and call it a pizza.
Anyway, good luck everyone.

I see that in the discord all pizzas got 1 vote each while two pizzas got 10 votes each (to be honest I think someone texted friends or something like that).
Or they created multiple accounts... just sayin.

In that case, I would like to add an additional 5 mBTC to the prize pool (on behalf of MixTum).
Very nice gesture.
I saw your submission and it's not bad at all, you have one of my votes Wink

I'm not sure if it's cheating, it's like saying "hey that man is stealing the freebies" if they are freebies he's not stealing.
What kind of crazy statement that is?!  Roll Eyes
You can still cheat and steal stuff from other people even if they say they got it for free.

1784  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Jade DIY hardware wallet on: June 01, 2023, 02:12:07 PM
Jade hardware wallet is open source and it's not very expensive, Blockstream is currently selling it for around $65 plus shipping, and there is a 10% discounts if you pay with L-USDT.

You still have to trust Blockstream to keep all your personal information safe, and hope there won't be any leaks or attacks that will steal and sell your data.

Solution for this is to make your own Jade DIY wallet, and there are several options for everyone to choose.

CryptoGuide posted a wonderful video instructions how to do everything, with more details on his github page and this will have secure boot same as original Jade device:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeqP6oVnlIs

There is one more quick and dirty solution using Blockstream Jade DIY flasher utility BUT in this case there is no secure boot and flash encryption!
This works for TTGO T-Display, M5Stack Fire, M5Stack Black/Gray and M5StickC PLUS.
https://blockstream.github.io/jadediyflasher/

TTGO (Lilygo) T-Display ~$10 USD

https://github.com/3rdIteration/Jade/blob/master/diy/readme.md

M5 StickC-Plus ~$20 USD

https://github.com/3rdIteration/Jade/blob/master/diy/readme.md

M5 Stack Basic ~$40 USD

https://github.com/3rdIteration/Jade/blob/master/diy/readme.md

All this devices are running with Open Source code so I am adding it to my list of DIY open source hardware wallets:

Razmišljam kontaktirati i neke druge proizvođače hardverskih novčanika i organizirati još neki giveaway za forum u budućnosti  (ako ima zainteresiranih).
1786  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdraw your funds from Gate.io on: June 01, 2023, 01:21:58 PM
Multichain's (a bridge that helps you transfer funds from one network to another) CEO went missing/got detained[1].
I said from the start that all this bridge multichain crap will create more exist scams in the end.
Bunch of people started creating centralized blockchains with worthless vaporware tokens... so it had to end up in a bad way.

There's a rumor that Multichain's CEO has been arrested in Sanghai.
I thought Gate exchange was based in Japan, but they probably changed something in recent years, now it is showing they are registered in Cayman Islands.

They are one of top ten exchanges according to Coingecko website and they have very good trust score rating, so this news could certainly affect whole crypto market.
1787  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Imperiume.io multi crypto MIXER on: June 01, 2023, 01:14:31 PM
Imperiume.io is a platform that's been in development for the past 3 years
You worked 3 years on this?!  Roll Eyes
All I can see is one more centralized platform that is offering suspicious ''staking'' rewards combined with unknown coinjoin mixing method.
Sorry but I wouldn't recommend anyone using your service...

One more funny thing I saw on your website is this fake AI generated character with weird voice explaining what imperiume is... very creepy ''j0in tHe rev0lutIoN' n0w'':

1788  Economy / Reputation / Re: I would like to talk about a local board but I am not sure. on: June 01, 2023, 12:16:03 PM
I mean "not welcome" in a sense that they have negative feedback on their feedback page and the feedbacks were not for any reason such as they scammed. It looks more to me that the main board users simply misunderstand the culture and think they are not suitable for the community so they like to mark them red. It also give a sense that these main board members have some personal dislike towards the boards (or better to say this group of the local users)
I don't consider negative feedback seriously until I read the feedback and see what other side had to say, with reason why they received negative review.
There are some members who are abusing trust feedback so not all negative feedback is equal for me.
However, it doesn't look good for any campaign if they are hiring spammers, so I would need to review specific members individually.

In a campaign accepting a red trusted member does not look good (maximum one red feedback I can ignore but having more than one looks too bad) but some of these members really deserve a good reward for their contribution to the community especially in their local boards.
Don't you already have red trust yourself? Wink
Many campaign managers usually don't accept members with negative trust feedback, but there are some exceptions.
1789  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: June 01, 2023, 12:01:15 PM
You have to do this before clicking on the upload.
And yes, you have to click on the thumbnail that appears before uploading.
Ok, ok.. I see now that edit appears when I hover the mouse over image.
Instead of doing this I was think image first needs to be uploaded and then clicked on it.  Tongue
Maybe you could add a small text below image (resize?) saying that image can be resized like this.

1790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: New Bandit Stealer targeting crypto wallets on: June 01, 2023, 11:49:19 AM
A new malware in the wild was spotted by trend micro. It leverage what we call runas.exe function, so they take advantage of it and can run the propagation with administrative privileges.
This malware again targets only devices with wind0ws operating system, that means that using linux would be perfect protections against this attack.
I am long time advocate for doing this switch from windows to linux, not only because of security benefits but because of better privacy and open source code.
Fedora, Debian or Linux Mint are one of the best choices and they are generally better for anything related with Bitcoin.
1791  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 31, 2023, 11:39:20 AM
When you select the image, it generates a thumbnail, clicking on the image opens a pop-up to edit the image size. Wink
I tried it several times but only pop-up page is opened for me when I click on image, and I don't see anything for changing image size, only the links are available.
1792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Receiving unwanted message fair warning to newbies. on: May 31, 2023, 11:18:31 AM
If you receive a message like this better ignore since mostly this is tactics made by scammers and they want to deceive people by some
unrealistic offer which you regret you try later on.
Report him to moderators for sending you this message.
If he sent the same thing to many other members than this can be considered a spam and he can be banned.

1793  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: May 31, 2023, 11:13:07 AM
Better buy an old ledger nano s wallet.
I don't want to waste any money on this junk.
My question was related to people who already won this devices, so they can mitigate potential issues.

They have said that first your seed phrase is encrypted, and then that encrypted seed phrase is split in to a 2-of-3 Shamir's scheme, with one share given to each of those companies. They have not however, as far as I am aware, said anything about how your seed phrase is actually encrypted, what encryption algorithms are being used, how the encryption key is generated, or who stores it.
I listened to Andreas Antonopoulos talking with Jameson Lopp and he said that ledger is probably using industry standard encryption (I can't remember exact name), but there is no way for anyone to confirm or prove that.
Since they don't have any plans to stop with Recovery plans, we are going to find out more details in next few months.
I am glad some other hardware wallets are going different direction and releasing everything as open source (for example Coolwallet).

1794  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor hacked (again) on: May 31, 2023, 11:01:49 AM
I can use my DIY PiTrezor without problems with official Trezor Suite. Yes, Trezor Suite detects that the PiTrezor isn't genuine and shows a warning banner, but otherwise works perfectly fine with it.
Is there any way to bypass and skip that warning?
Another problem I have with PiTrezor is that it can only be used to replace Trezor One, not Trezor model T, as far as I know.
For people using only Bitcoin I would prefer using RaspberryPi for making SeedSigner DIY device, or something similar that dont keep anything on device and it has camera.
1795  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: May 31, 2023, 10:52:38 AM
We have very important announcement coming from Coolwallet hardware wallet, they decided to release their firmware and secure element chip as open source!
This was decide after recent ledger wallet debacle incident, and Coolwallet wants to have more transparency with their devices.
Secure element Coolwallet use has EAL6+ security and from my research they are using NXP chips in their devices, but we are waiting for official confirmation.
With slick card format, current prices of $99/$149, and being opensource I think Coolwallet will have lot of new customers soon:

Every #USD token is fully collateralized and redeemable 1-to-1 for USD held by Prime Trust at FDIC-insured banks

nije mi jasno zašto bi netko uopće trebao brc20 stablecoin.
Isto kao i stablecoin na drugom blockjchainu, i zato jer nema potrebe za eth i svim ostalim shitcoinima.

1798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would these two wallets be equally hard to brute force attack? on: May 30, 2023, 05:37:12 PM
Would a HD wallet generated with a 24 words passphrase attached to a 24 word seed phrase that is know to an attacker be as hard to brute force as a HD wallet generated using only 24 words and no passphrase?
24 words passphrase?! I don't know anyone who is using something similar.
Passphrase can be brute forced and cracked much easier than 24 seed words, but you can make passphrase stronger to reduce the risk, or even better to add multiple passphrases.
1799  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Ark - New L2 protocol on: May 30, 2023, 05:13:00 PM
For the most technical, what you guys think of this?
Ark looks very promising and I like that side effect of using Ark will be improved privacy, similar like Coinjoin is doing but offchain.
Yesterday I listened the interview with main developer Burak from Turkey talking on Bitcoin Takeover podcast.
He worked before on Liquid and on Lightning Network, and Ark was created as byproduct of new Lightning wallet, but he introduced a lot of improvements.
His reason for creating Ark is to make Bitcoin available for everyone, and I agree with him that that is impossible to do on mainnet or with Lightning:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ7TLBhh9r4

That's true, but while in Lightning you do gain something from being well-connected even as a regular user (better / faster / cheaper routes for your own payments), I see no incentive at all to become a service provider in Ark. Routing fees (at least in Lightning) are still very low nowadays, so I doubt that is incentive enough.
There will be incentive in Ark, same as in Lightning, and Ark will be compatible with LN from what I understand.
Listen the interview I posted above.
1800  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Once more on the current security of HW. on: May 30, 2023, 04:31:09 PM
Air-gapped open source  devices are fine but unfortunately they are also vulnerable to  "chosen nonce attack" which may be specific for wallets with compromised MCU.  To disguise this attack they may gradually  leek the small portions of  relevant info so that the whole SEED could be reconstructed from chosen transactions.
I never saw a single case of this attack being conducted with success in real life scenario, and I would say that chances of stuff like this happening is minimal or near impossible.
That doesn't mean that airgapped wallets are perfect, but when you combine them with passphrases and multisig setup, you are getting best protection for average bitcoiner.

The main thing to keep in mind is that with most camera possibly all of the hardware wallets out there today they are using standardized chips to perform the functions. So yes these chips might be doing something shady, but and this is important, it would be doing it for all the devices that they are used on. So if something was wrong with them it would not just involve hardware wallets.
I think that Passport wallet is using mostly open source hardware components and that includes camera, so I don't see any risk there if done correctly.
