2941  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies! Kindly Read This..! on: August 31, 2018, 10:56:25 PM
Depending on the topic, sometimes it's easy to miss that a conversation has died. I recall starting out mining with near obsolete hardware and obviously not finding current conversations on the topic when I searched. I can't recall if I ever necro-bumped a thread but probably did in those days with the specific purpose of getting knowledge from those that where there before me.

Though most of these users are not using search, and are bringing life back to dead spammy threads. The ones I've been seeing appear to be spam bots; usually a rehash of the last page of posts merged into a steamy pile. That may explain the waves that seem to pop up. Especially because when say a bot bumps it, then every post count whore out there jumps in like it hasn't been 17 months since the last reply.

It would be nice if a topic was auto locked after say 9 months of inactivity. If someone searches and needs answers or there is something to ad, they can request it be unlocked or start a current thread.
2942  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide for getting + Merit on: August 31, 2018, 10:50:04 PM
Up to a certain degree... For example, on my local Spanish board, I consider it is not too dificult to get merited, but the expectancy there is to be merited by one person and one merit per merited post.
Today I wanted to incentivate my local board by publishing a list with the 22 people that had ranked-up at some point needing merits to do so, having been merited on the Spanish local board at some point.

I tried to see the positive side to it, being that people are ranking-up there. Nevertheless, the negative aspects are pretty clear too: 22 people is a measly figure. Of those, only 5 have received all their merit on the Spanish local board. The remaining 17 post on the regular English boards, and if you want to go above the Member rank, this board emigration process is nearly a must in order to do it at a decent pace (see the list on re:El tema de los meritos).

I respect your opinion. If someone is willing to put in the effort and learn to put out a well written posts in a second or third language more power to them. I myself have lost most of my ability to put together a coherent conversation in french and have resigned myself for now to just reading a bit. I just don't want people thinking "I can string together 6 words in English I should post everywhere now".

Unfortunately I feel the problem with your local, is regulation. We both know that a post worthy of it should be able to receive multiple meriters who can give what they feel it deserves. I admire the attempt to prevent Merit abuse(I'm assuming that is why there is the expectation). Perhaps you may want to consider urging the removal of that "expectation" and encourage responsible meriting practices, but in the end it's up to the members.

I haven't bothered looking into it in a while, as I stopped caring about others and their merits. I had observed a few members with a surprising mount of merit, most of which was earned in their local boards. At the time I remember thinking must be nice to have a source within such a small group(passing thought with no research) I realise though not all locals have this source. Believe me I understand wanting to achieve a higher rank, especially now it feels like an accomplishment, but I don't think people need to be concerned with a timeline per say. Like I tell most people rank is really only beneficial if you want to earn money in Signature Campaigns.

What I would encourage any user with the time, patience and Smerit is open a post review thread in your local board. Finding these posts could either help a member apply for Merit Source status, or distribute their own in a focused manner.

2943  Other / Meta / Re: Forum rules are not interesting to anyone, even moderator Cyrus on: August 31, 2018, 10:27:08 PM
Well this was an irritating read.

So let's go this way; they are MODS, not GODS. They do not see every shitpost or troll in the forum; if that is what you see their posts as use your report to moderator button and move on. You can put in 2 seconds of effort. This does not guarantee it will be seen like that when the MODS review it.

Your next step, tell them to open a scam accusation against you with proof. Once that is done you can report all posts that continue on in a never ending circle jerk of "you did this" , "no I didn't".

Finally the trust they left is next to worthless, because anyone who goes to the lengths of checking untrusted feedback, will certainly check the reference; which turns out to be a scam accusation you opened.

Now feel free to continue a conversation here about how people aren't interested in enforcing Forum rules, but keep it to that. Should anyone weant to check the reputation or scam accusation conversations we will check those boards.
2944  Other / Meta / Re: My thread got trashed without a notification and without a reason. on: August 31, 2018, 09:22:29 PM
I remember the topic, I was the one who pointed you to the other thread; along with the backstory on the other topics.

I'm surprised that these topics aren't just being locked if they consider them to have to much overlap. It would be more helpful to maintaining a discussion. Lock the topic with a final reply.

It's not uncommon for the discussion centered around hardware to turn into a megathread, and yes not all posts can be great within those threads. It does help in preventing 50-100 threads popping up centered around every piece of hardware.

While the topic isn't starting out with a lot of great info asking your question there could help turn the discussion.

EDIT: Here is the original meta about the first 4 topics started on the subject.

Theymos's final reply should have served as a gentle guide to how your topic should have been handled.

Well they aren't doing themselves any favors with a MOQ of 100 units.

Really nothing special about the unit, a little more efficient than some of the gear out there, not by much though. Doesn't really compete with any of the nexgen ber announced for the next few months.
2946  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Fulijuntuan TITAN 110TH 3200watts 32watts/TH? Real or Not? on: August 30, 2018, 11:47:32 PM
Yeah I saw his post in the thread you linked earlier. I haven't checked to see if he has a video up for the Zeon miner I would think he would say it there for sure, as it would be his review.

It would be nice to see it mentioned somewhere on the set up/nano video as well. Considering his view on them in that post.
2947  Other / Meta / Re: The Merit System, Bounty Reporting and Proof of Authentication on: August 30, 2018, 11:24:52 PM
No need to quote the entire post it's directly above your reply. Feel free to read through these posting tips.

There are many instances that can make a user have 500 activities without a merit. I highlighted proof of authentication and bounty reporting... users who have huge appetite for airdrops and bounties, especially social media bounties, can have 500 activities without a merit and do not deserve a punishment.

If there posts to gain 500 activity are only in those sections, where is the quality that would deserve merit. Unless the bounty manager is blown away by their ability to follow instructions and copy a reporting format. In no way are these people being punished, their bringing nothing of value to the forum, and in turn are still benefiting and earning money(tokens or whatever). Not to mention access the vaste amounts of knowledge that can be found and learned. What they can't do is rank up and earn money a second way through signature campaigns.

Why should these individuals advance in rank within this forum for contributing nothing?

Thinking that low ranking members will inherently earn less merit is a crutch. If your post has quality and contributes there are members out there who reward first check rank later. Some even go out looking for lower ranks to merit.

Here's the kicker though no one is entitled to merit, there are sections where it doesn't flow easily, and there are some members whose standards most cannot reach. It's just part of the system not necessarily a flaw, as merit should be a hurdle to achieving status in the forum.

It's the same as the ramp up for 1 or 10 TH/S. The period doesn't change based on the amount of hashrate.

I think the current ramp up to full reward is around 8 days. You do get paid for all submitted work in that time, and vice versa if you shut down your miners at any point.

Edit:
From Kano.is/help/payouts
The pool hash rate for the last day is roughly 221.57PHs which means the 5Nd 'ramp' is roughly 7days 13hrs

Nice I had never checked that out before. I was going off my worker graph lol.

Now that I've checked looks like my 841 is taking a nap, Must have warmed up quite a bit at home.
2949  Other / Meta / Re: The Merit System, Bounty Reporting and Proof of Authentication on: August 30, 2018, 06:37:49 PM
#1 - If it's just a post in the bounty thread, it is of little consequence to the forum. No one cares about those reporting posts as they are confined to the bounty thread.
#2 - I'm guessing this has something to do with Bounties again. So in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter to the average forum user.

Not going to lie when it comes to bounties, the only thing I care about is that it isn't for some scam ICO. These users are generally just fouling up twitter and Facebook. My only issue is when these users decide to go one further and start wearing a SIG and spewing low quality garbage everywhere.

3. What happens when a user have up to 500 activities but no merit as he is stocked in Jr. Memeber? Do you consider this encouraging? Because I understand irrelevant post are always deleted by the moderators of the various sections and for someone to have up to 500 activities, it means all the posts are not irrelevants.

This user would be a prime example of the system working. Anyone who can get 500 activity without a single merit, deserves to be stuck at Jr. Member level.

Not all irrelevant posts are deleted by moderators, most of the time they need to be reported before they get dealt with. Even then there is a line between being deserving of moderation and contributing in some way to the conversation. Not every post that isn't deleted or deemed relevant is deserving of merit, it still has to bring something extra to the conversation in some way.

#4 Is simple, merit is not moderated by the forum. Some DT may be tagging merit abusers in an attempt to keep the system functioning as intended. Others are documenting cases in the reputation thread for gross abuse, as for a while it was tied into the account hacks going on. The nice thing about that is that DT  can tag people based on their personal preference, such as people begging for merit. The problem with merit abuse is there are guidelines for giving it out but it is up to peoples personal preference; so it's not always a clear case.
2950  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Fulijuntuan TITAN 110TH 3200watts 32watts/TH? Real or Not? on: August 30, 2018, 03:07:28 PM
[...]

so a fraud can be done  by simply making the 'fake' miner with 4th and 2100  watts go to their server then add  36th  so the pool of your choice says you are mining 40th and your meter reads 2100 watts.

This gear may also do this.  Since it must point to their pool.

Pretty clever as it would show you 110th at the pool  .

This may be the new fraud faking hash rate to trick a guy with money to spend.

I don't see any indication that the 2 "legs" are connected in anyway other than the fan. If it does materialize it's more likely they threw on the 2 just for the sake of appearance, and the illusion of a big beefy machine full of power. That's all they would need to do with this variation of a "cloud mining" scam. Seems to me this is essentially a token machine you are receiving for buying a longterm mining contract, the consumer just doesn't know it.

I have to check into the Vosk thing, but do these "super" miners not have a local controller IP to log into to. It should be easy enough to see that the  machine is only putting out - X TH/S

There are a lot of people with money who just want to buy in while trying to future proof. Those are the people that stand to lose a large amount of money, because they don't know any better.

You give people a lot of credit. Remember you only needed a pulse and an internet connection to rank up before the merit system. Oh yes and the ability to shit post all the live long day.

Considering how many accounts are here for the sole purpose of earning money, with zero interest in adding to the forum, this doesn't surprise me in the least.
2954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Airflow question about extractor fans on: August 29, 2018, 11:49:41 PM
Do your windows provide a large enough opening to let in 3500 CFM. That could be part of why you are only getting 2200.

Depending on your time and resources you could create a partition wall so that your extraction fan is only pulling on miner exhaust. One thing you may want to consider is moving your asic rack a little further back towards the red circle. You may be to close allowing some of the exhaust to catch a current after hitting the wall and circulate within the room.

What style miner, has a board or chain no longer pointing at the pool? brought it on topic Wink

You should check to see if there is a loose heatsink maybe you knocked a chip loose in the chain?? Just speculating on that one. I'm not really sure how all the chains operate if 1 chip goes dead or is loose.

My T9+ has a chain that has never hashed fully because the second chip in the chain has an issue. ! chip hashes it's little heart out that's all.

Edit: Also if no one can help you don't be afraid to venture out into the great unknown that is "mining support" there are still some helpful people out there.

You should reach out to sidehack. I'm pretty sure this is the sort of thing they are into.

I recall them discussing that they were buying chips from somewhere, presumably to do something similar.

2959  Other / Meta / Re: A place for us to receive merits? on: August 29, 2018, 08:10:18 PM
What do you mean "New system" I haven't heard about it in the last 10 minutes or so.

You should do a search and see the copious amounts of data available on where merit has been given. Merit is also subjective so what you may think deserves merit others may disagree. Yes Meta does get a lot here, because this is a hub of people who are not only passionate about BTC but the forum as well. Here are a few places you can look.

Nevermind - teachable moment, use the search function and type "merit", then play around with fine tuning to cut out the thousands of posts about it.

Some of us are using minds in creating posts or new thread.

How many minds??
