2961  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 29, 2018, 06:51:46 PM

because thermos is a dipshit that most likely stole money, and now the forum is running on its last breath:

That's Sir Thermos to you.  Cool

I've seen crazier theories explained much better. How about putting all of the "proof" into a scam accusation for the community to go over. I'm sure it will all make perfect sense; amazed no one here has caught it or dragged the seedy details to the surface. Maybe I'm to used to this forum that was hard to try and read/piece together.

Or you are some troll content to hide behind a new account, which Sir Thermos still makes easy to do so that people can freely join; or use to throw shit at the walls without consequence.

Good afternoon.
After updating my wallet, my coins were gone. Tell me to anyone you can ask for support?

Did you back up your wallet before updating?

When I updated I had no issues, but some have said they needed to import the backed up wallet.dat file.

Here is some info and a way to get support.

2963  Other / Meta / Re: Overmoderation of the Hardware forum on: August 29, 2018, 03:45:14 AM
I was searching to see what I could find and the only mentions where in alt coin.

If 3 threads have disappeared its seems heavy handed for sure. I remember there being aftermarket mods tk serp up liquid cooling and they were discussed in the S9 thread. This is a different beast though considering it is designed and manufactured for that purpose.

Hopefully moving forward the discussion can flow freely.
2964  Other / Meta / Re: Overmoderation of the Hardware forum on: August 29, 2018, 02:18:01 AM
There could be a few things at play.

1 it could be that there are some people who are out there reporting posts that "technically" count as a duplicate thread or speculation. These usually don't get outright deleted and are just moved.

If the thread is deleted it should show who deleted it or moved it on the board, iirc.

2 it may be that these reports when seen from a MOD outside the section sees the report and doesn't know any better, if they aren't a hardware guy. I recall something like that in the kano pool thread.

3 it could be a MOD from that section who feels it falls within the scope of what they would trash.

In this instance I would reach out to the MODS of the section  frodocooper has always responded to me with a well reasoned arguement or reasoning behind any decision. I have also found them open to suggestions in the past. Not much experience with CK but I find they generally will shed light on a situation if you approach them.
2965  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] BTC [W] Email Money Transfer CAD on: August 28, 2018, 11:26:50 PM
What is the rate ?
Can you sell $50 worth btc ?

Are you able to do EMT with CAD funds?
If so 50 is smaller than I was thinking but we can sort out the details.
2966  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 11:11:01 PM
Oooooo made the experienced list.

Anyone who relies on the trust system is making a flawed assessment of their situation. I look at it for what it was originally intended( I assume), assessing the person I'm trading with. I will generally still use escrow regardless but it's always there as a supplementary tool.

Most people also often fail in using it properly by reviewing untrusted feedback. I usually disregard most that font have a proper reference.

I personally don't get involved in the I fighting of DT members, usually just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. I also rarely find those feedbacks carry much weight, except in getting people excluded from signature campaigns
2967  Other / Meta / Re: "Trust" system is shit !!! "Trust me !!!" on: August 28, 2018, 05:55:10 PM
Sorry but if you can't use the trust system properly, it's hard to give your complaint any weight. You should have left the user with negative feedback, then opened a scam accusation with proof. Doing this would have likely resulted in the account having an up to date negative.

The trust system isn't perfect but is a good tool if used properly. It in no way removes your need to perform due diligence.
You need to look for a consistent pattern not just 1 trade, even recently. Some people try to trade with DT members just for a green feedback. Same as a few trades several years old.  I also suggest people look into untrusted feedback.

Then there is also escrow. So really to trade in this forum we have the tools necessary to trade safely.

2969  Other / Meta / Re: FAO MODS: Why not charge a fee to recover hacked accounts? on: August 28, 2018, 01:08:39 AM
Theymos has mentioned many times that the forum is not in need of money. So a fee for recovery wouldn't incentivise them to speed it up.

The payments for "evil" are presumably meant to be some sort of punitive fine.

Account recovery in it's current form is just low on the list of priorities for the only 2 people with the ability to perform them. It sucks but in general it does not impede anyone from using the forum so I can understand the prioritizing.
2970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Guide for getting + Merit on: August 27, 2018, 12:07:48 PM
However, as some people have said above, in fact, responding to other people's problems or helping others should also get Merit. Only then will the BCT website gather more people.

The forum has no problem attracting more people. The problem is attracting people who want to contribute to the forum. To many individuals show up and just want to rank up so they can monetize their time here.

Do not make merit the goal, and you should do fine. Following  #2,3,4 are your best options to becoming a quality member. For #1 learning another language and becoming proficient are admirable goals, but you can also do fine posting in your local boards.
2971  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Spectrocoin a scam on: August 27, 2018, 11:35:37 AM
You will want to open a scam accusation thread  here. Read the second stickied topic, and post using the proper format.

Edit: Just did a quick search for them, and it appears many people have been scammed by them. Best to always double check things before sending money anywhere.

Don't forget the .1% where they ran it through a spinner and didn't realize that was also wrong. Roll Eyes

I do cheat a little, because without a time frame it's pretty easy to guess the reason for a ban.
2973  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [H] BTC [W] Email Money Transfer CAD on: August 27, 2018, 03:48:47 AM
Not sure about elsewhere but in Canada, you can send money from your bank to anyone else in Canada vie email or text through your online banking provider.

The recipient just has to log into their online banking to accept the funds.

2975  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Cheap electricity available, need advice on: August 27, 2018, 01:35:59 AM
First off you need to see how long it will take to get this facility fully operational and ready for Miner install. This will play a big part of the buy now or buy later phase of your project. You will also want to make sure that you own the building and that there are no local laws that will put your investment at risk.

Next assuming you've completed the first part. Depending on who decides to continue Mining in the future apart from Bitmain, someone will fill your facility with Miners. I just wouldn't count on finding 1 entity to fill the whole facility or to stay forever.  You may want to consider an introductory rate slightly lower if they sign on for a longer term. You could also partition of a part of the facility for small miners who decide to host and stay in the game, though I feel this number is decreasing at the moment.

You mentioned your own hardware, I would advise go with Canaan and their Avalon series. The 841 is the best all around Miner ATM, and they have already relesed specs on their A9 which looks to be a great product, if it is delivered according to spec. Outside of this they have a 2 year warranty on their miners and have shown they will follow through on customer support.

In regards to other coins, you can check out the altcoin section, or just do some comparisons on whattomine and other profit calculating sites. Yes any new hardware will increase the hashrate, and drive down earnings. Unless the market for that coin increases in price to keep up with growth.

I'll just go with the most obvious answer it says "Full". So you can apply, in the same way you can do anything, it would just be pointless.
2977  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump's campaign manager Manafort and his lawyer Cohen guilty of 8 felonies each on: August 26, 2018, 04:54:44 AM
Alex Jones is about the realest news we get although he's been wrong about a few things. At least he is occasionally correct and makes predictions that no one else made years ago.

CNN has gotten less objective than RT (Russia Today)

I'd say wrong on more than a few things. Since when is a good standard of news that he occasionally is correct, and that these are predictions. Roll Eyes

There is not one source of News that can be found to be impartial, and reporting to the standards the public deserves. Unfortunately I believe the industry forgot how to report objectively and to fact check sources. I would much rather have a story 2 days later, but with fact checked information delivered without bias or spin.

I meant that he won't throw people in his in-group under the bus.

With his group, you are only in it until you are not. Membership gets revoked at the slightest perceived slight or tarnishing of the Trump brand of politics. (Unless you are family, I'm guessing you get docked inheritance or something)

He's sensitive to flattery though, so that may play a role. Also presidential pardons are quite authoritarian - no Senate approval, no "deep state" departments to deal with, and no judges to overturn them  - so it's one of very few things that Trump can do pretty much on his own. Seems like everyone telling him "don't do it" will just encourage him even more.

Flattery only gets these people their high paying role. If you want to keep the job or receive a very public Pardon, it has to poll well with his base.
2978  Other / Meta / Re: Follow users by merit instead of threads on: August 26, 2018, 04:39:17 AM
Very interesting Data, I saw only 326 user has gained 100 or more than 100 merit. Out of them so many are old users. It look like that progression to higher ranks is not impossible but almost stilled.

Which makes sense the longer you have been a part of this forum, and crypto in general the more knowledge you will take in even through simple repetitive readings. Obviously not all old accounts are original owners, or people that cared to learn more.

I wouldn't say ranking up has stilled, it just has more meaning now then simply putting in time. It has slowed to a pace that makes sense and gives the rankings meaning, they are now actually like something you earn.
2979  Other / Meta / Re: Account hacked/blocked ... No answer from theymos or Cyrus on: August 26, 2018, 02:02:27 AM
I'm fairly certain that based on your statements in the OP, you've sent multiple PMs instead of just the one that is supposed to be sent. That could well be the reason why you're getting ignored.

Not necessarily account recovery has been stalled for months, even when people post everything properly.

My advice OP is this is now your account and you should go about using the forum much as you did before.  Here you can review my options for trying to tie your accounts together in case you want to hold onto any reputation you have built until such a time as recovery is an option. You will need to properly sign a message, and post a link to an unedited post containing that address for anything to happen.

[Suggestion] For anyone who had their account hacked

2980  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Canaan 821 to 841 firmware swap on: August 26, 2018, 01:43:58 AM
Short answer no. The 821 will not like being told it is an 841; not even sure if it would load properly.

Are you trying to get more power out of your 821? Best bet is to play around with your voltage settings to see if you can squeeze a little more out of it.
