The verdict that we all have been waiting for is coming up next week.

Verdict on Justin Brownlee positive test expected to come out by next week

And it has also been confirm that Tony Bishop would be the import, however, this next article maybe is quite related on why he is only an "interim import", probably Ginebra are still optimistic that Brownlee would be able to play.

Cone confirms Ginebra bringing in Tony Bishop as interim import
Quote
Ginebra head coach Tim Cone confirmed their newest reinforcement on Friday evening in an interview with CNN Philippines, saying the former Meralco import will play for the Gin Kings while they await the fate of Justin Brownlee over his flunked drug test at the last Asian Games.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a “safe haven asset” on: October 27, 2023, 09:51:57 PM
Previously, not only did the world consider bitcoin a highly volatile and high-risk asset, but even those of us who invested in bitcoin considered it a high-risk asset. But I think we should gradually change that concept as well as change the way we call it, bitcoin is no longer a risky asset. Recently AllianceBernstein, an asset manager with $699 billion, called bitcoin a safe haven and even more attractive than gold.

For me, this is the first time I've seen a traditional company admit and call bitcoin a safe haven and consider it superior to gold. What do you think about this and should we stop calling bitcoin a risky investment?
https://blockworks.co/news/alliancebernstein-gold-bitcoin-returns

Well, this news is really making its way to find more potential bitcoin investors in the future. However, just because they see bitcoin as a safe haven asset then it's now actually safe to invest.  Of course no. The risks are still there and its high volatility will add more risk on it. If you are just here to invest just because of quick profits, then forget about it. Bitcoin can never provide you on your wish. But if you have the genuine intention to invest because you believe in the future of bitcoin, then you are at the right track and just prove yourself that you are not like any other investors that are just here for quick profits alone.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Used Our Wedding Savings to Play Bet on: October 27, 2023, 09:18:00 PM
Even though i don't know this young lady in question personally, i felt true pity for her after coming across and reading her confession, i know how important weddings are to women and for the fact that she herself joined the man in saving, and even contributed about 60% of the entire funds they managed to save, shows or showed how committed she was to see that their wedding takes place, but unfortunately, the man gambled the money away, what could be more heart breaking than this?

Yeah, I get it.  It's a really heart-breaking situation and I can't help but empathize with her. Weddings are a huge deal for a lot of women, and she put in a bunch of her own money too.  So finding out her fiancé blew their savings gambling has gotta be just crushing.  I feel bad for her.  But it's probably better she found out now instead of after they got married, you know? At least this way she can make an informed choice if she really wants to start a family and spend the rest of her life with this dude.

Well, I don't think the mistake of his fiancee is enough to make her decide not to pursue the wedding anymore.  I would agree if the wedding will be postponed for now but leaving his fiancee totally because of his mistake, I think that's also quite unfair for him.  He should not be judged just because he is an addicted gambler, but he should learn to discipline himself instead so he can save the relationship with his future wife.

I can feel the pain with this young lady. But what happened has already happened and she should move on from that. What they should focus more is how to help his fiancee solve his gambling addiction so there will be no problems like this that will occur in the future.
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 27, 2023, 02:08:25 PM
So, he tested positive for illegal drugs while he was still actively playing before. I guess it's the right action, but a 6-month suspension is definitely painful, especially considering he was signed recently. But as they say, every action has consequences, and he has to face it. I hope Converge would be able to accept that and still give him a chance to play with the team once the suspension is served.
He already signed a contract for a 2-year deal, and I'm sure Converge was well aware of his history regarding drug-related issues since he was off for years before they signed him. With this recent development so close to the season, it might be a tough pill to swallow, but considering he isn't a starter, I'm sure Converge would be okay, and they can still compete this coming season.

I'm also guessing that Converge is aware of his past case before they give him that 2-year contract, with this update regarding to him I'm pretty sure that they are okay with it and give him that chance to continue working with them till the suspension being lifted, giving him that chance may allow him to continue his chase of bringing his name up.

Though it's PBA and the level of competition might be different from where he played during his past suspension, but he is still young and still have that skills that really can compete with other stars who reached this far.

I think they aren't talking about that much... I was browising to see some PBA fresh news, but I see this article related to the converge team, and it's how Coach Ayo  felt to see Jeron Teng go..

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/aldin-ayo-losing-jeron-teng-converge-san-miguel-a793-20231025?ref=feed_1_section

Quote
Aldin Ayo on losing Jeron Teng
"Of course, it was very difficult," said Ayo, talking for the first time about the stunning move of the FiberXers management to place the 29-year-old Teng unprotected in the free agency market.

Ayo's association with Teng goes a long way back during their days with the La Salle Green Archers where they won a UAAP men's championship together.

They were eventually reunited at Converge after Ayo took over the coaching chores from Jeff Cariaso following a one conference stint after the sale of the Alaska franchise to the FiberXers.

By the end of the season, Teng also emerged as the team's second-leading scorer behind Maverick Ahanmisi.

"He's very familiar with our system," said Ayo of the playing son of retired PBA player Alvin Teng.

So that was really painful for Converge as they've lost their two best scorers to another team. I'm curious to see how they'll compete with other teams in the upcoming season. The last time I watched them, they were performing well, but they did face struggles due to their import issues towards the end.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 27, 2023, 12:53:29 PM
And for the shortcut, specially John Fury hyping it with Mike Tyson, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvAhk9VEG3U

Tyson though was just all for the game of it. And he didn't take John Fury seriously.

Since I don't know who John Fury is, I thought it was Hulk Hogan when I saw the video. There's really some resemblance, LOL. I used to watch Hulk Hogan when I was a kid as he was the king of wrestling at that time...... But John Fury really has some impressive hyping skills, and Mike Tyson also did his part, being so underrated in the question-and-answer portion, according to one commentator of the video. These two are set to show a big fight. Fury looks chill, but we know how much of a beast he is in the ring. Good luck to Ngannou; let's see if he has something up his sleeves to surprise the fans.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 09:24:11 PM
How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin ?
It will never affect my life negatively since it will surely create a life changing opportunity for me to become rich quickly. It's actually a big advantage for the early investors in bitcoin. But I pity those who keep missing the opportunity to invest in bitcoin because they keep waiting for the perfect price for bitcoin to enter the market. And now that it's price could possibly reach into million, the more that they will regret for not pushing their selves to take the risk to invest.

However, we all know that this price will take a lot of years before it will be achieved. That means there will still be a lot of chances to invest in bitcoin most especially for those who are still in the process of learning bitcoin.

On another note, the PBA is set to return in less than 10 days! Get yourselves ready for some action. Probably next week, we'll have news about the imports for respective teams.

Are you excited for the PBA's return?

Yay! I'm excited on the return as it will give more betting actions for us, NBA in the morning while we have PBA in the afternoon and evening.
508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: October 26, 2023, 06:44:07 AM
I’m going for an easy (lol) parlay today hoping to cash in on a second multi bet for the second day of the season. Here’s the winners I’m going with.

Celtics over Knicks
Heat over Pistons
Timberwolves over Raptors
Kings over Jazz
Mavericks over Spurs
Clippers over Trailblazers

Would be difficult to hit that many games so early in the season with so much unknown, but those were the picks I felt comfortable making today.

I was so close to hitting this parlay. Absolutely ridiculous that the Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Toronto Raptors by 3 points. My streak is ended on the second day of the season. Would have been one hell of a hit though. I think the odds were 13:1 or something like that. The Wolves fg% absolutely lost the game for them.
That's still impressive, bro! That's 5 out of 6. Just come back tomorrow with a winning parlay, maybe reduce the number. Grin

As for me, I got a win, but it was just a single bet. I also had a live bet on New York, covering the +4.5 handicap. I was thrilled watching the game, and I'm glad that even though the Knicks lost, the +4.5 points made a big difference for my bet to win.
509  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 09:52:19 PM
Yesterday, I read a topic about the PATRIOT Act by o_e_l_e_o. In summary, the PATRIOT Act seeks to criminalize regular Bitcoin activity and transactions like mixing. For those who think it is a U.S. thing, please think again. The U.S. wields a lot of influence all over the world. We may most likely see its financial regulations being enforced by other countries. But this is not about that. This is about American Bitcoiners. Some of them, with whom I have spoken, say that this law which is agaist their constitutional rights will force them to leave the United States of America since the law is unfavorable to them. I have a question for them: Will you leave the country or stay and stand up and fight for your right?

If this law is eventually legalized, we are going to have Bitcoiners who would be persecuted and jailed for wanting to fight it. There are going to be Bitcoin martyrs. Will you leave the country and take your Bitcoin with you, or will you stay and stand up and fight (non-violently) for your rights?
This is putting a hard time on bitcoin enthusiasts. Why on earth that there are really countries who are giving a hard time for their citizens when all their main goal is actually to serve them, and no to cause harm and ruin them.

But if I'm one of them, I don't think leaving the country is a wise decision. You are only making them feel that they can easily control and manipulate their citizens the way they want. I'd better stay and continue with bitcoin but only myself is aware about that. There's no need actually to tell the whole world that you are into bitcoin. It's enough that you are doing it privately so you can have all the freedom to do what you want without those eyes from the government that will monitor your actions.
510  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: First bull run - how to not sell too early? on: October 25, 2023, 09:15:58 PM
Bitcoin is now at a better price and If you want to invest, you can take it a step further.  The $35k price is good as before it was $26k, so still can take an entry as many are saying it will go to $40k. But we can just take suggestions from others although we have to look at our strategies. That is what is suitable for us and what is the best price to take an entry. To get up your portfolio, you should start day trading with the investment you hold.
As previously you are also at a loss, so I don't think that holding in here will be a better choice for you. You can go for day trading but that should also be in coins like Bnb, Ethereum, etc. Not in the meme coins and if you are a good trader you can go for the bitcoin if you have a bigger portfolio indeed.
Buying bitcoin for a long-term portfolio would be better, I have been buying bitcoin and accumulating it since the price was below $20k and it has provided quite good profits until now. The target I want to achieve is still quite far away, $40k is still very minimal and it will still happen at the end of the year or next year. To do daily trading I also use BNB and ETH, it is only to support my daily profits and for the long term it remains Bitcoin.
Day trading is only good if you are actually capable to do it but if you are still hesitant, then never push it through. You can always chose to hold bitcoin for long term but the problem is, you are not going to take profits at the moment. But as a suggestion, its better that way so that your investment will not be prone for quick losses and you'll still be able to ride with the bull run when its already happening.

If you aim for a bigger portfolio in bitcoin, DCA would only be the safest option. It's way safer than day trading most especially if you are still an inexperienced trader.

511  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do Not Lose Everything Youve Gained in One day, or One Trade on: October 25, 2023, 07:47:27 PM
You need to admit that, more profit comes with more risk. So if you demand for more profit from the market, then you have to also take more risk accordingly. If someone isn’t capable of this, then definitely no one can save him from getting into losses. I don’t believe that Day trading is hard. If a trader is capable enough to analyse the market correctly, then it doesn’t at all matter for him. For him everything is like a cake of piece and he does risk management perfectly.
Either you are in day trading or not, it's always crucial to manage its risk wisely. Because if you just keep on leveraging because your greed tells you to do so, then you will never be good enough in trading, even in investing as well. The reality is that everything in trading takes risk and everything requires appropriate decision making so you won't fail your trades. But if you focus more on the profits rather than on the right strategy to be used, then you will never be successful and profitable in trading. Yes, trading can be a piece of cake for others, but it could also be very hard and distressful for other traders who are not able to manage the risks accordingly.
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to invest or trade Bitcoin? on: October 24, 2023, 09:21:37 PM
All of us who are involved in cryptocurrency have heard and know to some extent about investing and trading. But I know that there are risks in investing and trading. To do these you need to know some basic things and gain experience. The main difference between investing and trading is the investment period, methodology, risk-taking propensity. Whether you are an investor or a trader depends on your financial needs and investment goals. Investing is long-term and involves low risk, while trading is short-term and involves high risk. Both methods can be profitable if the right strategy is adopted.
Which one is better if I want to invest and trade bitcoins.

You know everyone aims to invest and trade bitcoin at the same time. Because if you engage in both, you will achieve financial freedom faster than what you expected. But everything is not easily done because both requires good preparation not just on your funds but also when it comes to acquiring knowledge and skills, and honing them so you will be well-experienced in both aspects.  And once you decide to enter either in investing or trading, there's no way backing out because that will only mean you will incur losses if you do. However, everything depends on your preferences on which you find easier to be in profits. But most of the time, investing is the people's first option and when they started to yield profits and maximize their investment, that's when they decide to take risk in trading. Trading demands a higher risk so you really have to prepare yourself twice the effort from investing alone.

He said it starts with JB proving beyond doubt that the carboxy-THC found in his urine sample was due to the medications he had been taking to heal from his bone spur removal in August. It is something Barangay Ginebra governor and Gilas Pilipinas team manager Alfrancis Chua and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas have been working on already.

It does not mean that Brownlee will escape punishment. It means that his suspension could be reduced significantly to around three months instead of the reported two years. Brownlee's suspension, according to Henson, could even be as short as a month, depending on the "reckoning period."

https://www.onesports.ph/pba/article/16447/door-ajar-for-justin-brownlee-s-pba-return-says-quinito-henson-but-stars-need-to-align

This is indeed a great news. Brownlee is the only import player that gives 101% of his game even on Philippines tournament or international with Gilas. This news makes me respect him even more since he still play despite his recent surgery. Take note that he play extra effort with previous injury and still manage to carry the PH on asia cup.

I’m sure this news makes Chinese fan disappointed because this is their only hope to get a redemption on their Basketball team.
That's because he's not just an ordinary import; he's also a naturalized player of the Philippines. This means he's committed to play in any international competition if his name is called. He could even have played in the FIBA World Cup if he were chosen over JC, but the SBP went with an NBA player instead. Nevertheless, he did get a chance during the Asian Games, and he proved that he might just be the best import, possibly in the history of the Philippines.

Quote
Honestly speaking, Does anyone find the reason shady? I mean why Brownlee will still play despite he knew that he is in the effect of illegal substance for his injury? Just a curious question since I really like the development of this case.

Brownlee didn't confess to using marijuana. The recent news sheds light on the source of that substance, and since it was from his medication, if the authorities consider that a valid justification, the sanction will probably be reduced or perhaps no sanction will be imposed at all.

It only does look shady because we won the championship and this one came out, and we know who hosted the event.

515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports bets or in-house games, which is best for the weekend. on: October 23, 2023, 04:15:06 AM
Let me tell a bit about both of these things that you have mentioned above. In house games can be considered as purely game of luck. Here the luck involved is very high. If your luck is a bit bad, then you won’t many games here. On the other hand, sportsbets are considered as both game of luck and skill. Here if you have good skill, then you can analyse the matches, and can increase the chances of your winnings. Hence you know which one to go for according to your necessities.

OP's question could extract various responses, as not everyone is into sports betting. While we can educate them about the difference between luck-based and skill-based gambling, the choice ultimately hinges on the preferences of individual gamblers. However, in practical terms, when considering the likelihood of winning over the long term, it's advisable to focus on games falling into the skill-based category, which includes sports betting.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thurman Vs Stanionis WBA world welterweight December 9 on: October 23, 2023, 03:28:37 AM
I'm not sure if the odds would be that low. I'm expecting the odds to be between 1.40 to 1.50. That's fair to me. We will wait for the experts to release their odds.

Thurman odds against Barrios is 1.53 (https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/keith-thurman-vs-mario-barrios-fight-prediction-odds-undercard-start-time-preview-how-to-watch/)

Man, that was up against a fighter I think is better than Stanionis. So, it's kinda hard to expect Thurman's odds at 1.50 or even 1.40 against some unknown boxer. Maybe 1.30 makes more sense, but honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if they go even lower than that.

You're right. 1.30 could still be fair especially if we take into account the fact that if Barrios, a younger fighter and who can put up a good fight against Thurman, could only have 1.53, then Stanionis might have much lower odds. But I hope it won't be around 1.20, or else it is a testament that this match is not really a good match. Especially if the odds would go down even lower than 1.20, why should it even be fought? It doesn't appear to be a fair or exciting match anymore. They better be looking for a boxer who more or less belongs to Thurman's caliber.

Well, you know, aside from being young, Stanionis hasn't really shown much in the ring yet. This is like, probably the biggest fight of his life. If he manages to beat Thurman, it's gonna be a huge boost for his boxing career. I mean, up until now, only Pacman has managed to beat Thurman, and we all know the legend that Pacman is. So, if Stanionis puts in the work and upsets Thurman, it's gonna be a game-changer for him. Heck, it might even push Thurman into retirement.
517  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Careful scammers and hackers using mail spoofing on: October 23, 2023, 02:22:48 AM
It's possible that a computer was compromised by malware, such as keyloggers, which can monitor your typing and potentially access sensitive information. Simply changing your password might not be enough, especially if the attacker already has access to your email or if your computer is still compromised.

To ensure your digital security, the best course of action would be to reformat your computer. This means wiping it clean and reinstalling the operating system. After that, change all your passwords, starting with fresh information. It's also essential to exercise caution when using your computer – avoid installing unnecessary programs and refrain from clicking on unverified links, as these are common sources of malware infections.
518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Governments Ban Cryptocurrency {Bitcoin} on: October 21, 2023, 06:21:33 PM
Governments ban Bitcoin due to concerns about its impact on the financial system, potential for illegal activities, loss of tax revenue, and volatility. However, enforcing such bans is often difficult and can have unintended consequences. As Bitcoin continues to gain popularity and support from individuals and businesses, it remains to be seen how governments will navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by this emerging digital currency.

This topic might be redundant but reasons may vary depending on countries implementing strict regulations to cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin. We all know that there will always be pro's and con's regarding this issue but it is still up to us on how we are going to deal with cryptocurrencies even though things go against the tides.
Every government has probably their own reason why they ban bitcoin, but one thing is certain is that they can’t totally control bitcoin and all its transactions, due to its highly decentralized nature. The reason why some countries chose to regulate it instead of banning hoping that it could be centralized in the future.

However, the good thing about bitcoin is that no matter how the government dislike its existence, or even if they decide to ban it for good, people will still be able to continue operating bitcoin and continue its accumulation. The fact that it remains decentralized up to this moment, then people can still enjoy the freedom that they want to obtain out from a very controlling government. Financial freedom will always be possible as long as bitcoin stay out of the shades of the government.
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: October 21, 2023, 02:18:36 PM
I wouldn't admit that we often make luck in gambling, there's no gambler who can boldly come out to say that he has never loss a bet before while gambling, to the extent that the losses we made while gambling is far higher than the winning opportunities we get while also gambling, the kind of game we are playing also can determine the level of how lucky we are while gambling, because some of these games are luck base while some are skills and luck altogether.
The luck in gambling is obviously not for the gamblers to experience and enjoy but it’s mostly the house who gets often the luck and own all the winning profits. As gamblers are for losses, while the house is for profits. That is actually the reality in gambling. However, with this news shared by OP, the lady must be extra lucky I think because she won the jackpot prize that will definitely change her whole life. But most probably, she must have incurred big amount of losses on her first gambling activities but never dare to quit but instead fuel her urge in gambling. But not all who have lost a lot will definitely share the same luck in the end.

I may not have been too lucky in gambling but I also make some small wins at some point, but still it never came to outnumber my previous losses in gambling. But if given the chance to win a life changing amount, maybe I can’t say that I will never gamble again. Of course, I will never stop gambling but I won’t see myself betting more that day where I was able to make a big win.
520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question for those who loose too frequently in gambling on: October 21, 2023, 01:12:34 PM

There are times they lose and also win. More reason to continue is they are hoping to win. As long as they have funds to bet, I think the gamblers are still going to keep playing. In crypto though, they can use the free spins and some coins we earn.

Either we have the motivation to continue gambling or we are just addicted. Some of us are already in it without minding it. I guess it's still fun to play despite losing many times.
Gamblers do not easily quit despite of their losses, not because they are only addicted, but because they often believe that their losses are just part of gambling that will increase their adrenaline rush to make money and heighten their desire to finally make a big win in the end. With that motivation, they will continue to increase their urge in gambling, that’s why no matter how much they are losing they won’t care about it but will continue to gamble instead in hope for a big and significant wins.

However, for some gamblers, they don’t just focus on winning in the end, but they enjoyed more betting even if they are losing in order to release their stress mentally and emotionally while some also gamble more simply for socialization even if it means losing at times.
