641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: receiving bitcoin on: July 24, 2015, 04:26:10 PM
Hello,

i bought some bitcoin from Belgacoin.com, this was sent to my address, but it's not showing up in my bitcoin core wallet.
Does it need to be syncronised first or are there additional steps i have to take?

It's behind 49 weeks and i can't download on my current network due to some kind of restrictions.
Help please!

Import your private key ( using dumpprivkey in core wallet console ) to Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) Wallets such as multibit or bither.
SPV wallet downloads only block headers from other nodes, hence synching is much faster.

For even faster synching, import your private key to a trusted  centralized wallet (which are using centralized server for blockchain query), like  greenaddress wallet or or electrum or mycelium (mobile)

Explore different bitcoin wallets which best serve your needs
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

I wouldn't bother with SPV based wallets. Electrum looks great, I like the HD features, but honestly a noob will probably do better with a blockchain.info address.
If he starts stacking serious Bitcoin at the end of the day the safest way is Core, which hopefully soon when pruning gets properly implemented will not be such a pain in the ass to sync with.

Please don't use Blockchain.info. You can go with either Multibit HD or Electrum. Both are user-friendly. When you create a wallet, you will get a seed, save it safely. It is needed to restore your wallet if something happens to the application or computer.

Well, if everyone is suggesting...

Sadly, I could not see Maged in these lists. Is it because he is inactive these days?
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Merge wallet on: July 24, 2015, 03:16:47 PM
How do I merge my Blockchain (browser) wallet to my Bitcoin Core (PC) wallet?

Thanks.

The easiest and most secure way is to create a transaction from your old wallet (bc.i) to your new wallet (bitcoin core).

I would like to use my Blockchain wallet as my main bitcoin core wallet, can I do this?

You would need to export the private keys from ALL of the addresses in your blockchain.info wallet, then you would need to import ALL of those private keys into your Bitcoin Core wallet.

After that you should stop using the blockchain.info wallet completely.  Any transactions that you continue to make in the blockchain.info wallet can create a data inconsistency issue with your Bitcoin Core wallet.

After you import all addresses, I suggest you to delete all addresses from your Blockchain.info wallet. Before deleting, I highly recommend you to make sure you have imported all addresses.

See "How do I delete an address?" question in https://blockchain.info/wallet/wallet-faq.
644  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Few questions/suggestions about electrum on: July 24, 2015, 02:45:54 PM
1) Does electrum generate the starting addresses deterministically?

Yes.

2) Can i set the initial seed of the wallet, because i dont know how the internal RNG performs, to make it more secure

No. Electrum generates seed with enough randomness to protect you.

3) Can electrum be used to store big amounts of bitcoin, in cold storage, safely? (Due to Armory becoming intolerably big over 100GB now)

Yes.

4) Is electrum's watchonly wallet with offline private key storage perfectly secure (doesnt leak private key when you transfer signed file)

Yes but if your computer is insecure, that is, contains malware, there is a possibility for a theft.

5) I think electrum should have 3x verify/type your password at the beginning, instead of 2, to make sure you enter it correctly

I think 2 times is enough.

6) Electrum's fee/kb seems silly, we all know that a fee of 0.0002 is now the convenient, /kb doesnt matter

You are wrong. "/kb" does matter. If you send a transaction with big size, 0.0002BTC may not be enough. After all, miners choose the transactions and they prefer transactions with higher fees.

7) Can you please implement an option so that i can close the Console window, i`m sure 99% of users dont need that

You are wrong. Console windows are useful.

8] When i restore the wallet from seed, is the wallet itself being stored on some server, from where it retrieves it, or its is only an algorithm that remakes the wallet?[/b][/color]

No. Electrum is an HD wallet. When you create a wallet, an extended public/private pair is generated. You only need to store it.

9) Is electrum's debian/linux wallet bug-free? Does it work in debian?

I don't know about Debian but linux works well and I guess Debian too.

10) Can the seed regenerate the wallet entirely as in 100%, without any additional info (i suppose the password is still needed to unlock it after) ?

Yes, it will generate same receiving addresses and change addresses.

11) Perhaps after the performance/security updates are reasonable, have you guys thinked about a more user-friendly outlook with nice buttons, and theme, to make this wallet more user friendly.

If you guys answer to my questions, suggestions, then this wallet will become the NR 1. best bitcoin wallet, with all features included!

I don't know how answering your questions make this a "number one" wallet with "all" features.

Btw, you can use nobbc code, if you don't want a bbc code to be parsed. Eg:-

Code:
[nobbc]8) [/nobbc]
645  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help Required .20000 BTC REWARD on: July 24, 2015, 02:12:35 PM
I don't really understand what you are asking but I am answering according to what I understood.

Do you want to convert a multisig wallet to non-multisig wallet? If so, then I am sorry to tell, you can't. If you want to use a non-multisig wallet, then, create a new non-multisig wallet and transfer coins from multisig wallet to newly created wallet.
646  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do islam hates people? on: July 24, 2015, 02:02:47 PM

July 22, 2015
RAJOURI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists burnt Islamic State flags fuelling violence in Rajouri area. Curfew has been imposed in the area following violence by the local Muslims over the issue.
.....

1.  Burning the American flag is okay.

2.  Burning the ISIS flag is not okay.

3.  Insulting Jews and callously accusing them of 911 is okay.

4.  "Upgrade your mind, if you still think ISIS is Muslim."

Somehow I do not think the resident straw puppets and paid propaganda trolls are doing a very good or consistent job.

"Muslims demanded arrest of Hindu activists for burning the flag bearing Quranic verses and have threatened to hold protests and declare a bandh if police fails to do so."

Two questions:

1. Did Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists really burnt an "IS" flag or a flag with Qur'anic verses?
2. Were those Muslims protesting for burning flag with Qur'anic verses like they are saying or for burning "IS" flag?

Primedice uses both hot wallet and cold wallet but they only store small amounts in hot wallet.

It is a double spend transaction and is rejected by nodes. OP needs to send Bitcoin again.

should this user deserves a negative feed back? What i know is when you're going to do a double spend, you've got to be knowledgeable in order to do this kind of things..

Looking at the transaction, it can be a mistake. For example, he sends again using a wallet which is not synced completely, same inputs maybe used again. There can be other reasons too.

Anyway, I am leaving a negative trust feedback. He might be trying to sell his account in the meantime.

A multisig wallet or hierarchical deterministic(HD) wallet.
650  Other / Meta / Re: What if there's a scam website in my signature? on: July 23, 2015, 01:36:41 PM
-snip-
I don't think you would get any negative ratings, i mean recently a staff member was participating in a signature or avatar campaign promoting a scam site and nothing happened to him so nothing should happen to you.

He was probably in a default trust list so if there are some people talking shit about him he would give them negative trust for false accusation :/

If he had done that, he would have been removed from default trust list right away.
651  Other / Meta / Re: The most contributed to the forum on: July 23, 2015, 01:28:52 PM
-snip-

Nobody on the existing list has a "reason" either.
Also, are there ever going to be fixed criteria? Or can everyone be added on some slight merit.

Opinions differ from person to person, so it's hard to make a list of great contributors which everybody agrees.
652  Other / Meta / Re: Is it me or is the Altcoin section dead? on: July 23, 2015, 01:21:27 PM
The altcoin section reflects the reality of altcoins - DEAD.
Sorry to say but they're never going to gain any exposure or adoption are they. Bitcoin was here first and will probably be the only cryptocurrency to succeed & gain mainstream adoption.

Litecoin could play a part, possibly. The others are all a load of crap though & I wouldn't invest a dollar in any of them.

I wouldn't say all other altcoins except Litecoin and Bitcoin are a load of crap. There are indeed altcoins which have good features.

Hmm... is this ponzi Cloud Mining Website still up and paying?

Yes... still up and paying, inspite of all the nonsense around. Check the payout history of last nine month...

His question is genuine and your answer would have been genuine if you had not striked out "ponzi". Roll Eyes

655  Other / New forum software / Re: Display email address! on: July 23, 2015, 10:55:05 AM
Hello! I don't like to give current email address associated with my account to others but at the same time, I would like others to know an email address of mine so that they can contact me. For this, I think a 'display' email will be helpful. That is, we can add two email addresses, one for forum messages which won't be displayed publicly and one for displaying publicly. Suggestions/opinions are most welcome!

i really think this will attract spam, also there is lot of bots arround on the net searching for new emails to bomb" Wink

but maybe another checkbox like "show my email to others" or something like that would made the trick, i will never recommend that but if thats what you want...

Is what I said "too hard" to understand or aren't people reading? Huh

There is already an option to hide email address and email address is hidden by default. What I want is another field where, if the user wants, can add one more email address which will be shown publicly instead of registered email address.

657  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC.sx on: July 23, 2015, 10:13:57 AM
It's not that well known like BTC-E or Bit-X ando ther famous exchange .
You can choose either you continue using the website or not based on few reviews of the members : http://bittrust.org/btcsx , SCAM ACCUSATION FROM REDDIT : http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2175ct/feedback_dont_use_btcsx_scamtrap/ and you can see here too : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=383246.0

I personally wouldn't take risks to use it based on the three links . Remember : never store your bitcoins on a exchange website it can go hacked or turn to a SCAM while they have enough money and walk away , withraw whenever you can

BTC.sx is a trading platform and not an exchange. Besides, every sites got at least one or two complaints from users.
658  Economy / Services / Re: Offering Free Escrow Service | Fast, Secure & Reliable! | I cover TX fees too!!! on: July 23, 2015, 09:50:00 AM
thank you for helping me yesterday bro  Grin .. Trusted service Cool

This user requested me to escrow a deal but I denied the request.

I have used Muhammed Zakir's escrow service for one member domain renewal deal. Every thing goes smoothly. Really Really recommended for everyone to use him as a escrow. A+++++++++ for him.

Thank you!

660  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: July 23, 2015, 09:43:13 AM
I saw in another thread that someone is able to get 5+ Mkey/s out of their laptop with oclvanitygen.  I am sure I am doing something wrong with the parameters trying to get it working, still only getting about 100 Kkey/s using these parameters:

oclvanitygen -f list.txt -D 0:0 -w 512

on a Lenovo laptop with 64bit Win7.  According to oclvanitygen I have:
0: i5-3320M CPU @ 2.60GHz
1: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Can anyone share what are your typical input parameters or provide pointers?

There is no "certain" parameters to boost your speed. You can see a slight increase if you kill unwanted processes/applications especially background ones.
