721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NEM the worst most full of shit project in Crypto? on: January 10, 2015, 02:22:10 PM
The fair distribution of NEM is a joke, and it just a clone of nxt, no matter what the called new code.
This second point is a good example what I did not mean by "fair comment or objective criticism"  Wink

Its just too easy to prove this wrong.
NCC (client part of the software which provides the web interface/GUI) is open source: https://github.com/NewEconomyMovement/NemCommunityClient
NIS (server part of the software which does the actual work) is not open source yet, but you can decompile it and see easily that it is not even close to NXT software. (Latest version can be downloaded here: http://bob.nem.ninja/)

@fair distribution:
Well we have to define "fair" first, but when you compare NEM distribution to any other crypto coin distribution, its looking pretty good.
Interesting in this context: https://forum.nemcoin.com/economics/nem-distribution-stats/msg6464/#msg6464

This post does prove that someone hasn't used both systems......even from a not-very-technical point of view (like mine), NEM is not a NXT clone.

722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Byrne interview seems to confirm he is no longer working w/ counterparty on: January 10, 2015, 02:07:05 PM
Yeah...PB wants an honest financial system, and he does not like high speed/high frequency trading, among other things.
So a blockchain-based exchange that explicitly doesn't alllow HFT (because all of the order processing happens on the blockchain, with 1-10 minute blocktimes) is probably what we are going to see from Medici and Overstock.
My prediction is that whatever system we see from Medici, it will be slow asset/stock trading, not instant.
723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your favorite altcoin reached $500 on: January 10, 2015, 01:58:12 PM
Mmmm....seeing as I'm holding a reasonable amount of NXT, I'd probably just explode 2 seconds after I check out CoinMarketCap.
If I survived the news, I'd probably sell a few NXT off, then go and drown myself in a big bath full of Champagne and supermodels.
724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NEM the worst most full of shit project in Crypto? on: January 10, 2015, 01:57:06 AM
NEM and NXT is the worst
And this in a year (well, almost) that has seen Auroracoin, MtGox, MintPal/Moolah, BitBay, Paycoin..........?
NXT has done nothing but solid development for the last year, NEM pretty much the same.
725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] The Nxt Technology Tree - Monetary System mainnet release @ block 330000 on: January 10, 2015, 12:40:34 AM
Big movement up today for NXT.

I think its an error on CMC

What, I thought that price was for real! You mean it's bullshit? If that's true then coinmarketcap's getting flakey.

Yeah...It would be nice, but I've traced the source of the glitch to a trade on CCEDK at 21.15 (CET) where someone (idiot or pumper) forgot a zero on his buy price. Ouch.
And to make it even more confusing....CMC seems to have stopped updating at exactly that moment, so even though the price on CCEDK rapidly corrected, CMC is stuck.
Oh, well, got some nice screen shots of the Asset listings:

Anyhow, assume 6000 satoshi/NXT as the real price today, and be careful with your zeroes.......
726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Byrne interview seems to confirm he is no longer working w/ counterparty on: January 10, 2015, 12:30:23 AM
http://cointelegraph.com/news/113273/overstock-installs-btm-at-corporate-headquarters-offers-to-pay-employees-in-btc

The top half of this story is much good news: 2-way BTM in the lobby at Overstock HQ, employees can now be paid out in BTC (and this is so f**king important for crypto, I can't swear enough)

Bottom section of the piece seems to confirm that Medici will not be built on CounterParty, but that's not exactly a surprise. Given how Overstock operate, they were never going to fully outsource any important elements of the Medici system, it makes much more sense for them to build their own in-house system.
How this will affect CounterParty is an interesting question, given the general shittiness of the markets right now.
I reckon that XCP is still a good, solid project and this shouldn't be taken as a knock-back.
727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who killed crypto? on: January 10, 2015, 12:06:01 AM
And then, as if by magic:

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113273/overstock-installs-btm-at-corporate-headquarters-offers-to-pay-employees-in-btc

Overstock comes up with this.......I feel like Nostradamus sometimes. Nice one, Overstock!
728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who killed crypto? on: January 09, 2015, 07:18:15 PM
Crypto's not dead in any real way. Even if BTC fails, other projects will take its place.
Check some history....every new market is plagued by scams at an early stage in its development, usually (as with crypto) just after it begins to enter mainstream thinking.

Even though they are well-hidden in a sea of scamcoins, there are a lot of very solid projects out there delivering quality, security and innovation.
Obviously, I'm going to point at NXT as one of the best current alt projects, but there are others. Shocked
Bitcoin is also a long way from dead right now, the amount of infrastructure that has been built for it over the last year is amazing.

Talking of infrastructure, I think the main issue we now need to address is how to get more people paid by their employers in crypto-currencies.
The last year has seen the ways in which we can SPEND crypto vastly increase, but why the hell should people get paid in fiat, then have to buy into crypto in order to spend it again?
729  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT is dying :-( on: January 09, 2015, 09:10:10 AM
Is dev still closed and annonymous? Then yes its dead id rather buy ripple if i want closed source crypto currency. Bitshares is good though

We do have some very closed devs.....I'm gonna assume you mean the source code, that's been open source since March of last year:
https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/src
Umm....well, there it is.

On the anonymity: assuming you do mean devs.....NXT has a dev team (not just one guy for the masses to worship) of around 5-6 core guys, another 5-6 on non-core stuff, plus an utterly unknown number working on 3rd party projects. Some of this team are still anonymous, but many aren't.
Got to :
www.nxtforum.org
and have a look around.

BTW: Ripple isn't a crypto-currency. It never has been, never claimed to be. Don't forget that Ripple dates from a time BEFORE Bitcoin and crypto:

730  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Clone NXT step by step on: January 07, 2015, 11:45:16 PM
Just get in touch with one of the currently running NXT clones like NAS, NFD or NTX.
They have running systems already, and because they are NXT-based, you can build whatever else you want on top of them, just as you can with NXT itself.
This approach will save a lot of time on building a new NXT clone from the ground up, and allow you to just work on the extra stuff that makes your plan unique.
Good luck....
731  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT is dying :-( on: January 07, 2015, 11:27:06 PM
Yawn....nice try, mate, but all of your points have been rebutted as FUD a long, long time ago.

And here's CoinMarket Cap from a few seconds ago, just for the lulz:

Who has the only green numbers over the last seven days ?

(And if anyone was wondering....SuperNET is a NXT-based project)

732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More BitShares greed. on: January 05, 2015, 03:07:42 PM
@sumantso:
I will continue to sporadically defend 2Kool...not against accusations of trollness ('coz, well, he is, kinda) but against the greed accusation.
He's pulled a lot of trollish stuff, but I really don't believe that greed is his main motivation. Good old-fashioned decentralised crypto-anarchy is.

Anyhow, not going to turn this into an off-topic session of 'Yes, he is' versus 'No, he isn't'
I am sorry that your experience with 2Kool soured you on NXT, I'd just like to point out that NXT has a lot of other viewpoints and beliefs contained within its community, and we do our best to be inclusive, not exclusive.

If you want to come on over to Nxtforum.org again and have another look, check this out and maybe contribute:

https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/msg146011/#msg146011
https://nxtforum.org/pub-crawl/live-free-or-die!!!!/

You'd be more than welcome.....

My own personal position on the philosophy underlying crypto-currency is, btw, pretty much in line with 2Kools, but I'm somewhat more tolerant of other approaches. Cheesy

733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More BitShares greed. on: January 05, 2015, 03:06:05 AM
What is your intention in twisting facts continuously? The bonus is a pay in advance for the next month. It was done in order to have no expenses in 2015. Otherwise there would have been a need to pay taxes on the fundraiser (35%)!

Ignore him, he is the known troll cool4school or something like that. He realized everybody takes him as a joke and so started a new account.
His only intention is to make money by pumping up NXT.

I think you'll find that 2cool4skool (if DE is him, which really wouldn't surprise me  Wink ) is driven by a very serious philosophical belief in decentralisation and the original vision of Satoshi N., so dismissing him (and other Nxt'ers like myself) as simple trolls is getting dangerously close to being FUD.

I have no idea on the OP's intentions with this thread  (probably not very BTS-friendly, though) but I've got no real interest in kicking BTS unless there's a good reason for it, and I reckon I've treated BTS fairly on this point. I don't see BTS as a threat to NXT in any way, the world of crypto (and the financial 'real world' ) is more than big enough to support a good selection of crypto currencies/platforms, and NXT and BTS don't seem to be sharing all that much common market space.

BTW: $50,000 ? Fukinell......that seems like lots to me. How much cash are the core BTS devs pulling down per month?
734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WHITEPAPER] Internet of Coins on: January 05, 2015, 02:26:01 AM
Good work, guys !
Catch you soon at the Meet-ups/Coinference.....
735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Nxt open source? on: January 05, 2015, 02:09:48 AM
what's the NXT core team doing in marketing the platform to companies?  i think it's time for them to be aggressive in 2015. imo the devs are doing great with the recent work done, but how's marketing?

Marketing has always been a weak spot for NXT, tbh.
We have an amazing dev team, but only a so-so marketing team (and I'm one of them, so I'm being stupidly honest here).
Compared to the marketing efforts of Ripple, BTS, Ethereum....NXT just isn't in the same league.

Don't get me wrong, the guys we do have do a great job, there is a lot of good networking going on with businesses, and pretty damn good grassroots marketing, but much of our budget goes on the care and feeding of the dev team, and we do have to be careful with our spend on marketing. This means that most of the NXTers who are busy with marketing activities are working on a volunteer/donation funding basis, usually in addition to our real world jobs. I always ROFLMAO when someone accuses NXT of running packs of paid shills/FUDders......still,  we do a bloody good job with the limited resources available.

Our main strength is definitely in direct contact both with crypto and real world businesses, and we have raised the funds (from a few friendly NXT whales) to be a main sponsor for the upcoming PayExpo in London:
http://www.payexpo.com/
Note: this is not a crypto conference.....it's mainstream finance with the emphasis on payment processing.

There's also a couple of other major projects coming up, using the NXT Monetary System to offer custom blockchain solutions to businesses.

Anyhow, in keeping with NXTs open source/decentralised philosophy....if anyone wants to help out, come on in !
The main NXT forum is here:
https://nxtforum.org/index.php

@Tokeweed (and anyone else who might want to get on board), drop me a PM and we can have a chat.

And, btw, NXT is open source, has been completely so since March of 2014. The current development code is kept closed, but the production code is open.
736  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Started getting paid 100% in Bitcoin starting with my last paycheck on: January 05, 2015, 12:44:23 AM
Nice one, Elwar !

This is precisely what BTC needs right now, some positive pressure. If every Bitcoiner with balls enough was to do this, this would go a long way to giving BTC some much-needed stability.
737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is fall of bitcoin is good for other crypto on: January 05, 2015, 12:07:12 AM
Try looking at the last 7days on CMC:

http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/

I do think that this current bear market massacre will be good for other cryptos, and I'm really happy to see how well NXT is holding value.
738  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Am Getting Out of Bitcoin on: January 04, 2015, 11:54:39 PM
We need a new digital currency that breaks apart from Bitcoin. Its kind of dumb to have everything depend on one thing.

It's called NXT. Check it out:
http://nxt.org/
http://nxter.org/
https://nxtforum.org/

I don't actually think this is the end of BTC by a long way, but I am very glad that I sold almost every BTC I held 2 weeks ago, leaving the bulk of my crypto portfolio as NXT and NXT assets.
NXT is holding it's dollar/euro value very well, compared to the rest of the crypto world, and offers a pretty good safe haven right now.
If/when BTC starts to pick up again, then I'll move back in to BTC, but right now I'm pretty much out.

740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A terrible day for cryptos... on: January 04, 2015, 11:38:14 PM
Well, I reckon it's time for people to recognise that NXT is a great store of value these days. Controversial, but true.
Take a look at the 'ALL' view on CMC, with 1 hour, 24 hour and 7 day figures:

http://coinmarketcap.com/all/views/all/

In that list, which crypto has had the smallest drop in real value over the last week?
