Salsa:
Anything u need some more proofing on, let me know.
Good work, btw, u are one very productive dude. Take a bow....

Here's my productivity for the day: some sweet shiny stickers:

Aren't they pretty ? I now have no idea what to do with them......like to distribute them to the NXT posse, but not sure how.

Any one want some, let me know.....I've only got a 100 so far, so it'll probably only be 5 or 10 stickers per person.
They are 140mm x 40 mm, btw.
1722  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 11:49:41 PM
Wow, we have a second 1000-votes-investor at https://www.mintpal.com/voting. Shocked

@EvilDave and all developers out there: What about a public paper for exchangers to implement NXT as easy as possible? That would be a great thing, or?
Its a great idea.....just don't ask me to do it. Not dev, hands full. Good idea, tho, make listing NXT as easy as possible for exchanges

Just checkdd the numbers at Mintpal...looks like daily volume total is around 200-250BTC, so round 2-5BTC in fees, TakeiCoin has 1.3 BTC in votes, with Stories and tesla coin close behind. It's a damn good way to earn some beer money.....
1723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 11:41:40 PM
Giving them help to get NXT up and running would be more use than chucking cash at them and then finding out that they simply can't figure out how to integrate NXT on their exchange.

Yes, that's what I thought too. It would be interesting to see, if we are on place one and then the admin has to ask how to implement NXT. But who knows. Maybe it will work?!

What about a public paper for exchangers to implement NXT as easy as possible?

But I don't like the idea that exchangers need to contact our devs, so they can implement NXT. And your first sentence ("If they want to come 2 us and beg to be allowed to list us, fine.") sounds a bit too arrogant to me.

Yep, I am an arrogant wanker sometimes. But NXT is a bloody good crypto with an amazing community, and I don't think that we need to buy our way in to exchanges. They will make enough money on NXT trades over the next few years to make it wrth their while.

And it will be more cost-effective to spend money/NXT/BTC once on a good package to help exchanges, than to keep on bribing exchanges.

EDIT: NXT as ingame currency or even NXT used to buy ingame currency is a very good idea.
I keep thinking of World of Tanks for this.....
1724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 11:19:48 PM
Can someone with good english skills please contact https://www.atomic-trade.com/ and ask them if they can add NXT?

I'll give it a look in a while.....u want me to get heavy with them, boss?

Damn, Mises, u fast......
1725  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 11:18:21 PM
Than we all have to vote as hell, day by day, hour by hour as registered users (6 votes per hour) to get 20,000 votes.

I'd say leave it, bro. If they want to come 2 us and beg to be allowed to list us, fine. But we don't need to bribe exchanges.

Have a look at the total number of votes and ask yourself where MintPal are making more money.....on their transaction fees or on this votes for listing for BTC routine ?

Maybe we should throw some effort into putting a package together to help exchange operators integrate NXT into their operations ?
It seems to be a common theme that exchange operators look at NXT, get confused abuout something and walk away.
Giving them help to get NXT up and running would be more use than chucking cash at them and then finding out that they simply can't figure out how to integrate NXT on their exchange.
1726  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 09:59:44 PM
Hello, I have been running my VPS for more than 3 weeks now without earning any nxt !.  Undecided
I do have some nxt in my account and have aroud 600 unconfirmed transaction!!

what do I have to do ?

thank for your help in advance

Wesh; seeing as everyone else is ignoring ya, heres some help:
The reason u r seeing 600 unconfirmed transactions is that u are currently on a fork of the blockchain. This is not good...
Look at my last block:

69664      4747512364439223888      dinsdag 18 februari 2014 22:50:06

      1      49 + 1      128 B

      2      12965468926053797053      70 %

If none of that matches with what u r seeing, shut down NRS, delete everything and re-install. U need to be running version 7.4 or 7.5, available from the first page of this thread.
Install, run, let the blockchain update and then u can log back in to start forging.
Hate to tell u, but u will need to have at the very least 10,000 NXT (preferably a lot more) to see any forging income at all.

@justabit:

heres my proposal for a totally green, carbon-neutral NXT:
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,3418.0.html
I also posted on the main BTT thread, but that didn't end well.
1728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 18, 2014, 01:44:45 AM
Part 2 of ZipZap and GoCoin

When I spoke to the guys at the conference, both were asking basically the same thing:

"How is the market we attract different than Bitcoin/Litecoin"

This is an extremely valuable point.  If we don't bring in a different market segment, why add redundancy. I know some people don't like the green/eco area, that's cool, but it's a legit difference.  As Bitcoin continues to get larger, some people aren't going to be fond of the amount of resources it utilizes. Nxt should be able to appeal to that market on a mass scale.

What else? Why add us if you already have Bitcoin/Litecoin?

This is important, not just mental masturbation. I'd like to make contact again by the end of the week.

Green is nice, but not the important thing.

NXT is PoS
NXT is a whole ecosystem
NXT is new code. ( when they find a flaw in BTC, its not in NXT)

Green is one of the most powerful mass marketing tools NXT can use. The fact that NXT already has a massively lower environmental impact than other, "tradtional" cryptos is a marketing point that will play very well to a large section of the world market.

Unfortunately, pretty much any time "green" marketing gets mentioned, this forum turns into a warzone.
See:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4903149#msg4903149

I'd like to see a sensible debate about using green marketing (or not).

and moving on:

We did the work you guys asked for at the Miami Bitcoin Conference, now it's time to give the companies exactly what they want from us. So far we have:

- Large marketing budget
- Green (socially responsible)
- New code -- any case a flaw is found in Bitcoin
- Extremely low transaction fees
- Marketing team willing to work with merchants

** For example, we could organize a 30 day swarm push to help attract merchants to the payment processor. Now, that would be a benefit.

What else? What makes us business friendly? What do ** WE ** bring to the table for a payment processor?  Why would it be a mistake NOT to add us?

I'll throw out:
- faster transaction processing than both Bitcoin and Litecoin
- a new crypto platform that has seen phenomenal growth and a #5 placement on coinmarketcap.com, using a whole new distributed blockchain and transaction mechanism, in less than three months since inception.  Do they want to ignore this momentum until it's too late, or do they want to take a risk now?

But let me play devil's advocate, though, because the real way to answer this question is to look at Nxt from their perspective:

They'll add it when the market demands it.  There's nothing in it for them right now.  It's too soon, and your question is therefore rhetorical.

IMHO, this is the wrong horse to chase right now, but thank you for your persistence and attention.  Build more market momentum for Nxt FIRST, and then ZipZap and GoCoin will see value and fight to add integration.  For example, support Damelon's open-source payment module project.  Once it's finished and a market is created for payment processing, go back to them and do one of two things: offer to help them integrate that system into theirs, OR suggest that they should jump in to become a market leader.  IN the meantime, keep in touch and update them on the growth of Nxt.  Build the RELATIONSHIP.  You can leverage it later.

I'd love Tai Zen to weigh in on this.  I'd value his thoughts, and you likely would too Smiley
Bold is mine, for emphasis.....
many +1's to Joefox here. Build now, mass market soon...

Forgive me for having a little too much joy hearing this politically correct answer/reply from BitonicNL on twitter when asked whether they are going to start selling NXT for Euros! Smiley I have been buying bitcoins regularly from this site and is a happy customer.

Here is the tweet: https://twitter.com/Bitonicnl/statuses/435398282617966592

Wow!
This would be great!
Bitonic is very good and dependable :-)

Yup, got BTC from them. Utterly sweet and trouble free (God, ilove iDeal)
Their answer is probably "No/Maybe", though.

@Rickyjames: check out the peer explorer thread on nextcoin.org:
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2266.0.html
For some insight into NXTs infrastructure.
I'm pretty certain that there are a lot of nodes not showing up on PeerExplorer. My private node isn't there at all,for example, maybe because its behind a NAT firewall. It'd be interesting to find out precisely what we have running right now, and how we need to expand on it.
I remember the 1000 TPS debate from a week or 2 ago, did we make any conclusions/decisions on network capacity ?

and, just for laughs, heres a block check:

*** Need Community Response ***

Now that Songs of Love has our landing page posted (with their wallet), I want to know how you guys want to handle it moving forward.  One valid concern is since Nxt has a wallet address for donations and Songs of Love has their wallet address posted, people might get confused.  Should we:

Continue to only advertise our wallet?
Transfer the funds to their wallet and use that one in PR?

It's not a big deal either way, just want to address the concern posted and have the community tell us how they want to handle it.

http://www.songsoflove.org/nxt/
I think that the best option would be to transfer the balance from Nxts "own" wallet once we have reached the donation target, while using the SoL wallet in most/all of the PR. That way SoL will, even in  the future, still receive donations directly. I don't think that there will be much cross-over between the two groups of donors anyway: people who see the PR will probably not even have NXT, and NXT'ers will already have donated to the NXT wallet. So no real confusion, and it all gets there in the end.

Which brings me to some important questions about where are we heading with charity marketing:
Is SoL going to be the "official" NXT charity?
Are we going to make an ongoing commitment to them, or move on to another good cause after we hit the target?
Are multiple charity projects a good idea?
Does any one have any suggestions for another charity to support?

So many questions from me today.....sorry. Wink

Yeah, my stickers are almost here.....just had mail from UPS to confirm delivery tomorrow.
Pity I'll be offline & elsewhere for most of the day......  Angry
1732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Recovering from Berlin Bitcoin conference on: February 17, 2014, 08:32:36 PM
Well, I should probably disclose you a little secret about one of my marketing activities - http://bitstickers.net/ will print Nxt stickers in the next wave, so in a few weeks anyone could purchase very cheap Nxt stickers and buy them with Bitcoins, later probably also by Nxt. I have already sent them many logos, vectors, etc

You sneaky.......I was just thinking about precisely the same thing.

NXT stickers for sale!

Like bitstickers, btw, do u have any idea when the NXT stuff will be available ?

1733  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 17, 2014, 08:22:22 PM
A system has already been created to reward running a public node.  https://www.peerexplorer.com/ (seems to be down right now for maintenance).

Sponsors create caches in the form of small amounts of NXT which are rewarded to registered public nodes.

Hmmm....must have been asleep at my desk when this happened. or it could have got lost in the information tsunami that is this thread.....

...or another thread:
https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2266.120.html

Obviously I need to get out more......pity the cache system seems to have got gamed/broken.

LOL, probably lost in the tsunami Wink

Looking at the nextcoin.org post, seems he's shutting it down after some recent changes let someone walk away with 4100 NXT...  A real pity.  The peerexplorer.com cache system encouraged me to set up a few extra public VPS nodes.  Hope he reconsiders...

Thinking generally here: we've put a lot of effort into clients, AM, AE, marketing, etc over the last few weeks, but network infrastructure has been put a little to one side, since the massive efforts we made in December/January to get the current infrastructure up and running smoothly.

Looking at the peer explorer :
https://www.peerexplorer.com/
I'm only seeing 399 active nodes right now. One of them is mine, so I am currently responsible for 0.25% of NXTs network.
Hmmmm......I would feel happier if we had more nodes. 1000 seems like a nice number.

So, what do u guys think? Do we need more nodes ?
How can we encourage more people to run nodes, given that forging revenues are not exactly brilliant right now?
1734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 17, 2014, 07:36:09 PM
To encourage running nodes: i like the idea of a colored-coin reward for running a public or private node. This could be a good way of bringing the mining community on board, and I'd like some love for keeping my nodes up, as well.
It costs a trivial amount to run a NXT node , in comparison to the costs of running a mining rig, so maybe we could encourage miners (and others) to run NXT nodes, in addition to their mining, by giving them a mining-style reward if they are prepared to keep a NXT node up and running on their rigs. Call the color coin Nexus......reward one Nexus per 10 mins runtime/per node ?
Need someone more technical to work this out, so take it away boys.....

My summary of stuff from the last 20 pages:

Drexme.....arse. Seems to be sorted, but I don't really want him back in the community.

DGEX. I have no problems with DGEX. Some people obviously do, and I'm not going to get into the rights and wrongs of it here. Just try to get along, please.  Like I said before, I'll build a personal Thunderdome where we can settle our differences after we get rich, but until then...tolerance pls.

Nodes/VPS/miners.
We havent put much emphasis on NXT network infrastructure lately, maybe its time for a review of what assets we have, and what we are going to need in the future.

I need to emphasise that people should, if they can, run public/private nodes. Every little bit helps....
And it's not too expensive. An Amazon EC2 VPS costs around $2-3 per month to run, non-hallmarked, running 24/7.
A private node costs almost nothing to run, unless u are hallmarking with some serious weight, in which case u can afford some bandwidth fees. Run nodes....it's good for NXT.
Dont worry about forging income, it'll be minimal. Do it for the good of NXT.

@jl777 and Damelon:
Hats off mode, u guys are being so damn productive.

Last idea: integration of NXT (or a NXT colored coin/asset) as in-game currency.
May I suggest World of Tanks as a good start point ? Based purely on geography.

Salscz: thanks very much mate. Any more proof reading/correction work u need, let me know.
I should be recieving the first batch of 100 stickers tomorrow, so stay tuned, I'll post some pics when they come in.

On the subject of stickers:

What do u guys think of using stickers for guerilla marketing ?
Here in A'dam its completely normal that every traffic light/public vertical surface is covered in stickers for various events/businesses/good causes.
If we choose good locations, stickering could be a very effective way to raise NXTs profile for a fairly low cost.

Think I've seen some of these guys work before, when I worked with Quince (Samsungs ad agency).
It's very clean, very classic. Be interested to see what they come up with...

Haha!
This is good to hear!
I am glad that you know them.
Strangely enough that means you also know my mate who is part owner of that company!

I am glad you gave a 3rd party confirmation here that they are known.

And i've added my promo/marketing activities to the Google Doc....could u have a look, see if its all good with u ?
All of the stuff is on the marketing tab; stickers, A'dam conference and Carbon-offset plan.

NXT is going to be huge. No other alt is so feature rich and innovative.
It's like a Bugatti Veyron compared to a Ford Model T.......maybe I exaggerate a little, but NXTs potential is massive.

If we play this right, we can get a ton of traction on reddit.

I agree.
That's why I started the subreddit. Wink
Cool, gonna get my arse over to reddit.
