1501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin on: April 14, 2014, 01:05:08 AM
This thread is so damn old.......all BTT NXT discussion moved first to :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.53360

And then on to NXT's own forum:
https://nxtforum.org/index.php

So, let this zombie sink back into the grave........
1502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 13, 2014, 09:37:50 PM
This thread is becoming a frigging cesspit...wtf is going on ?

It's bad enough having Elmo spreading his idiotic FUD routines, but now we have semi-respected members of the NXT community throwing big red letters at each other.

If this was a realworld pub, i'd be the guy breaking in at 3 AM with a gallon of gasoline and a Zippo........

Twin: Could you take down the NAS advertising ? Put it in a sig, no problem, but this is a NXT thread......

Salsa: could u kill your spammers post if Twin removes the NAS stuff ?

Eadeqa.....u know what i'm gonna ask.

Emule.....na, can't be bothered asking.

Then we can all get back living in perfect harmony, bitching up Elmo and helping BitcoinForumator   Grin

So, Elmo, you were saying, old chap?

and who the fuck do you think you are? another parasite living of donated (bribe for not killing nxt) from good trusted nxt community members, you looking for high price to dump, na na not gonna happen dump while you can

Who the fuck I am ?
Tell you what I'm not:

I'm not the pathetic arsehole who spends 2 or 3 hours of his day doing nothing but trying to fuck stuff up.
I'm not the obsessive moron who can only post about the thing he claims to hate.
I'm not the idiot, who by his own admission, has just been a whining parasite on the arse of NXT, profiting from the hard work of other people while, at the same fucking time,  trying to destroy what that hard work has achieved.

I'm an actual person, Elmo, with a life,  you should try it sometime.

(and so far,I've bought in 80% of my NXT, had 20% donated, so eat me.)

and price continue its way down the drain

i just wonder when the first big founder(other than me) will break and sell of all... will be interesting to follow

would be disaster, but hey nxt was build for disaster. only question of when.......

Just a little reminder of Elmos forecasting genius...it's like a small, furry Nostradamus.

(NXT went +25% today, to those of you reading this in the future....)
It didn't, the rise on coinmarketcap was only due to false dgex price
And that is why you should always read the whole thread before you post, kids.
Stupid DGEX.......grrr.

hey Dave, how is our speaker slot going?  Wink

Speaker slot/ Bitcoin team make Dave angry....they promised me everything by the end of this week, just like the last 2 weeks....going to be working on conference tomorrow AM.
So, I'll go nuclear on them round about 12.00 if nothing has happened.

Lots of people bitching about marketing, but few actually stepping up and helping out. If u have an idea to get NXT some love and attention , propose it to the community, see what happens. If you get support, roll with it, and carry out your plan.

The committee (s) are not here to hold your hands and tell u what to do.....they are simply a financing option if you have a plan and need some help to carry it out.

I suggested a plan of action a while back, I guess non of the marketing committee members thought it was a valid solution. Theres is a clear difference between strategy and tact

There's also a clear difference between what everyone thinks the marketing committee should be doing, and what it's actually tasked with doing.

The committees (all three of them) were elected to manage funds.  That's it.  Collective memory is fuzzy in this regard, which is unfortunate.

All of the committees, in their own way, are moving past their mandate, under their own initiatives, to architect bounties and other means of spurring development in many areas related to Nxt.  The committees are NOT – contrary to many views – tasked with doing the work.

The Marketing Committee exists to help YOU create marketing. Here is our voting procedure, and here is where you can submit your proposal for funding.  I wholeheartedly encourage you to apply, since we have a bunch of Nxt to give away and not many people asking for it.

+10 to JF, and I've got an idiot marketing idea I'm gonna float on the other forum......

Been workng IRL for a few days, so not much crypto time. Not that I missed much..... Angry
Best summary of our current situation I've read in a while:

I take the IRS's decision that Bitcoin is a commodity as a really bullish sign for NXT.  NXT's decentralised asset exchange has astronomical potential as a valuable platform for businesses.  If Bitcoin finds difficulty as currency, then investors will be looking for technologies that can offer something more in line with the IRS's decision.  NXT's decentralised asset exchange is very much aligned with the IRS's decision because it allows businesses to perform IPOs, issue stock and automatically pay dividends, all of which are not currency-related tasks.  NXT is the next big thing on the horizon.

Sure Bitcoin makes a great commodity like gold, but NXT also offers 1 minute block times, energy efficiency and decentralised asset exchange.  The NXT developers just need to make it easier to install and setup with a single installer.

+ much

I've had a small soft spot for Noble since it's launch, always had a feeling it would bring something good to the table.

This is an important document, read it.

Especially if you're a newcomer to crypto, this .pdf could save your life. (or at least some dolla' )

It is little sad, but actually http://www.nxtclient.org/ is not a good place for beginners - there is still no rating so newbies are lost and don't know which client to choose

Let's use only this link: http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/ in our forums OP and on our sites, like wiki, nxtcrypto, mynxt or any local lites
- wesley could maybe add some red warning about brainwallet
+ we can offer using client with wallet.dat: https://github.com/incentivetoken/offspring/wiki/Getting-Started

Who agrees?

+10, much agreement
1515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 05, 2014, 11:25:38 PM
My 2 (and a bit) cents on the solarion affair:

1593 or 1592 less the nonsensical minimum transaction fee.

PM me your Nxt account # associated with YOUR password and I'll send you 1593 later, I think you should at least stick around so you can try Asset Exchange and some other really neat features being released soon.

If you do follow his advice, don't choose your password. It needs to be very strong with 128-bit entropy

Try this client

http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

let it create 12 word password (and save it) losing password means losing your account . It can be recovered.

Thank you, there are entirely too many competitors to waste any more time on a product as unrefined as this one. I wish you guys well though.

No worries, if you change your mind in the next 24 hours, PM me, otherwise the 1593 is going to Evil Dave.

Like the last line, my favourite bit.

But: I think that solarion should stick around and be appointed to official client tester status. Really.....he managed to f**k things up with the NRS client inside his first few minutes of being in NXT. Takes a special kind of genius that few others have managed, and he has actually done us a service by rubbing our noses in the password security and client issues, as well as pointing out that we need to streamline and clarify the process of getting into NXT.

Solarion could have been a lot more diplomatic about it and it would have been nice if he'd done any f**king research at all about NXT, but some of us could have been a little less quick to start throwing the troll accusations.
(Tho' some of us were amazingly patient....msin, Ian, Twin, McJ  Wink )
Check solarions profile, he's an easily angered miner, not a professional NXT troll, imho

So, how do we respond ?

The password security and client issues will be (mostly) solved if we get people away from using the NRS client and onto pretty much any other client.
I've just tried to put myself into the mindset of a n00b who wants some NXT, and it's still bloody confusing trying to figure out how the hell to get into NXT.
We really need to streamline things *A LOT* to make life easier for the average user.

Solution time:
Look at the landing pages for most cryptos: blah, blah, client download, exchange, mining pools. Not very information rich....
Lets make a completely idiot-proof starters guide for getting into NXT. One page, preferably less, of clear instructions.

Spread this idiots guide to all NXT sites, make it the default NRS and client download page, preferably with very small download buttons and an "I swear I have read all of the above" checkbox.

This way, all of the possible 'gateways' into NXT will have the same instructions, and hopefully they will be followed. If we emphasise the use of non-NRS clients, preferably wesleys, this should cut out a lot of opportunities for people to balls things up for themselves, and cut down on the number of angry, $40 poorer people posting on the forums.

If everyone thinks that an "ďdiots guide" universal start page is a good idea, i'd like msin (if solarion doesn't want it ) to put the 1593 NXT towards a bounty for the idiots guide.

1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did we let this happen? on: April 02, 2014, 11:52:31 PM
OP is just an NXT/NEM/altcoin troll.

No. I'm the NXT troll (with one NEM stake and a fistful of dodgy ALTS)  Grin

BUt the OP is still being completely out of order. Even if BTC turns out to be a bubble, no-one has ever held a gun to anyones head and forced them to invest. We are all willing participants in breaking new ground / creating a new financial system, so crying about it when you think it's all going south is just childish, as is trying to find a scapegoat.

Bitcoin, just like the internet, is useless!!! ... After all, who the hell uses the internet today after that bubble that ripped off poor people!!??

Thanks for your wise words, oh, technology oracle. God bless you.  Grin

I've always found it comical that people try to compare Bitcoin to the internet.  The key difference between the two is, the internet is immensely useful.  Bitcoin, not so much.  Kind of a one trick pony in comparison.  Please stop, you just sound ridiculous.

One trick pony would be a very good description of tha Interwebs in the mid-90s (i was there, i thought it was crap).
Send mail, look at very slow porn, get disconnected every 5 minutes, have a telephone bill like the GDP of Cuba.
Now look at us....

Even though I'm not the worlds biggest BTC fan, I'm pretty sure that Bitcoin is here to stay and I'm hodling my few BTC. And I'm gonna buy some more when it dips under $400.
Look on this dip as an opportunity, not a disaster.

BTW: I recently spent €200,000 on a pile of bricks and wood, arranged in a sort of cave like structure...was that a good idea ?

1518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 02, 2014, 10:22:38 PM
People keep asking me about my plans, I'm a bit tired to repeat the same again and again, so I post it here and will be giving the link to this message.

I have a "draft" of BCNext's ideas, it's mostly specs for client part, some hints and some instructions that he left in case Nxt would need to be reanimated (hehe). I have some nxts (more than 1M) and I'm also working on a project that is supposed to run on top of Nxt platform (it's related to that IPO I tweeted about). So I'm going to write code for other features (Monetary System, Phasing, etc.) Also I'll be implementing Transparent Forging, I'm not in a hurry, so I'll be adding more and more steps in parallel with the features. It's quite interesting to see if this idea works in the end. I can't give any ETA coz I have to cooperate with Jean-Luc, who reviews all the code, and guys who r testing all the stuff on the testnet. After the 3rd of April my contract is over and I won't be spending 100% of the time for Nxt, more likely 50% in average. But I hope that this summer I'll have everything done.

Yay...kisses and flowers 2 u, mate. Said it before, but thanks for your work.

Nxt pump

or else the entire crypto universe is dumping everything to buy NXT......its a f**king slaughterhouse on coinmarketcap.com, a sea of red, with NXT just about holdiing, BTC down 10% and falling.

Good move, BrianNowhere. 10% insta-loss.

Couldn't resist; one more;

*snip*

+1 to Fatih, nah, lets make that a +10.

May I suggest that anyone who downloads and uses some of Fatih's wallpapers make a small donation to him ?
It goes against my nature, but I'm gonna see if I can unlock an account (*sound of rusty hinges opening* ) and send him 100 NXT.

100 on its way 2 u, bro.....from the acc number in my sig.
Oooohhh,  that hurt, but F deserves it.
