Guys, do you need any Android TV stick for promo at conference? If there is a need, I could configure one and send to somebody attending in conference. Inform me, I'll check the cost of it.

What about this I offered? If it is not interesting, just inform me, I'll throw it from my head Smiley

P.S. I live in Europe.

I'll have it.

Having 2 ( or more) different low-cost/low-energy NXT nodes on display can only be a good thing.
Check out the total costs, including some compensation for your working time, and post/delivery costs and get back to me, please.
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt is now 100% Open Source! And on Cryptsy! on: March 18, 2014, 02:35:33 PM
I'm adding my vote to the "lets promote AE and wesleys client for April" movement.

I suggest less voting and more doing, EvilDave.  You don't have to wait for anyone else to promote AE or wesleyh's client when you can do it yourself.

I'll put that on my remarkably short to-do list, then. (slightly sarcastic mode, sorry)

In the meantime:
Just got the NXT logo on the A'dam BTC conference site sorted out, it is now linked to www.nxtcrypto.org.
Check it out here, about 3/4 of the way down the page:
http://bitcoin2014.com/

Hopefully, l8orre will be appearing on the speaker list very soon, if he's not up by the end of the week i'll  hassle the conference crew again.

I want to start getting promo material together,  (and the RaspPi of course) but we need to make a couple of decisions first:

I know that salsacz has some NXT clothing and other material,  Rickyjames has a massive pile of trifold brochures, and I have a handful of stickers.
Do we wnt to recycle this lot and use them at the A'dam conference or create new promo material ?
We have enough time to get everything shipped to A'dam, but we also have enough time to create new material....

Apart from Ebereon, are there any other RaspPiSolar gurus in Europe who could build a system for the conf ?

@Damelon: Have u got any more info about the involvement of RHOS at the conf?
1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 18, 2014, 10:08:27 AM
Part of my interest in NXT is being part of the 'experiment' - you know, BCNext inviting us all over to his mansion on a stormy night with CfB as the inscrutable butler. I want to stick around and see what happens. This decentralised 'thing' is up there with Breaking Bad!

Something about this sounds so...

(mansion AND stormy night - you just had to put something so poetic in there did you)

tears in my eyes  Grin

I wish there was such the line:

We haven't had that spirit here since 1969 1984

We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave........
1584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 18, 2014, 09:46:03 AM
Please don't pay attention to any trolls. We can't block them from posting here as that would be anti-freedom but we can reply to intelligent people instead of wasting time/space/organization of thread on trolls

Please ignore this troll called eightspaces.
It's so obvious, that this guy is trying to bring bad mood in the community, for whatever reason (maybe he invested in some copycats and dont want us to expand to fast, because the tempo atm is enormous in my opinion)

-1 all round (and I don't give that very often)

It's very easy to point at anyone posting negative (or percieved as negative) comments about our beloved NXT and call them a troll, but by doing that we are simply sticking our heads in the sand.  How are u gonna define 'intelligent people' ?  Is someone who doesn't share our happy, smiley vision of NXT therefore stupid ?
Negative feedback is useful, it helps keep people motivated and shows us exactly where the weak spots are, so they can be sorted out.

If someone is simply being abusive, yeah, call them a troll. But I'm seeing reasonable criticism here from eightspaces, bitcoinforumator and others, even if I don't agree with them.
Even emule sometimes makes sense....but his repetitiveness and lack of originality is getting on my tits.
It is also possible that guys/girls/whatever posting a concern here are trying to express themselves in English and getting it slightly wrong. Not everyone is born speaking Gods own language  Wink

TLDR: stop shouting 'troll' every time someone criticices NXT.

On to the "what is NXT" debate:
Actually as a currency Nxt can and should be compared to other alts. Absolutely. POS vs. POW.

It is a poor comparison - if you want to compare NXT to something then I think XRP is a much closer one.

I agree NXT functions like XRP, but it is also a better store of value because of its lower circulation and the control it gives you over the network.

Just because NXT "could" function like XRP on Nxt, doesn't mean it will only function as such. Ripple has no one promoting it as a currency. Nxt has hundreds who already do. This isn't going to change anytime soon.

No one is saying it will only function like XRP.  It is a multi-functional currency.
Like the man said, NXT is multi-functional. Its the Swiss army knife of cryptos.
I see no conflict at all between using it as a simple first gen currency (driving the base NXT price and market cap) and implementing all of the 2nd gen features.
NXT can be used as the user/group/whatever sees fit.
It's a financial ecosystem: it has trees, insects, rats, birds, bacteria all existing together and all contributing to the whole.

@Justabit:

No worries, mate, go have some fun in the sun. Thanks again for what u guys achieved, btw.
I may not have agreed with some aspects of your work (SoL....hmmmm  Angry ) but on the whole Cointropolis did some good work.
Hows the Trek convention coming on?

I'll just 'volunteer' the next guy who opens his mouth about NXT mainstream acceptance to run the game payments idea.
1586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 18, 2014, 01:38:31 AM
Just heard back from the ATM guys:

http://www.coindesk.com/mexicos-first-bitcoin-atms-will-also-deal-altcoins/

"Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. Its bookmarked and noted. Right now we have other priority, but my first look at your landing page looks interesting.
I would like to discuss things further with you to a later moment. Please write me in a couple of weeks again.

Best,
Alec"

On vacation for a few weeks in Thailand, will work on some other initiatives (including meetups) when I get back in early April. Again, not looking for any type of bounty, just protecting my investment.

Have fun, thanks for all your work so far. If you're lucky, u might come back to a very nice NXT surprise......

In the meantime, is Nifty_Nikel still keeping Cointropolis running ?
Because I have one very easy idea for NXT adoption/promotion:
Get NXT accepted, as a simple first gen currency, by major online games.
Payment module from Damelons guy is almost ready to go, and getting "NXT accepted here" on the log-in screens for WoW, EVE, WoT, etc.,  would be major publicity if nothing else. I've got no time to run with this, so maybe u guys (or anyone else) would like to pick it up and take it further.
1587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 18, 2014, 12:32:50 AM
@ Passion_LTC.Thanks for the help, bro. All sorted now.

Moving on to my usual summary and thoughts on the last 30 pages or so (while ignoring the whole Pin/emule/salsacz thing):

Good summary:
All this hand wringing the last few days has been because one or two big stakeholders have sold some of their stockpile. Maybe they wanted to buy a car or something, who knows? The progress of Nxt has been excellent. Wesleyh client is awesome. Asset exchange being tested and will be functional within weeks, Transparent forging and big increase in TPM capability coming in April. Adam B. Levine says Nxt looks like the future Bitcoin and he's very excited about it. Tons of other good news. Don't let the price or the trolls get you down!
+lots
BTW; any one else notice that there seem to be a lot of new guys/girls/things posting here ? Another good sign....

More work for me, thanks,  bidji29:
I think after the April 4th, NxtFunds should be the leading force in this community.

I propose to the 3 Funds to make an annoucement after that date. Each on a separate day to spread the info load.
Since the 3rd part of the plan is released the 4th, i think a week is needed to organise if needed . So something like 10th, 11th and 12th April.

April 10th : TechDevfunds Announcement
April 11th : InfrastructureFunds Announcement
April 12th : MarketingFunds Announcement

In this annoucement, they do a clear roadmap for this year. Not just some fuzzy goal, but clear one. What direction and goal, How the money will be used,  How much exactly for each goal, etc..

I don't think devunds should just be passive, like just rewarding someone when he do some good work, or announce a bounty for a potential project.
They should be active. It mean search for people to work on NXT, make Job offer, going out of the way to find the most efficient to spend the funds, etc...
I sort of like the idea of a roadmap, but it shouldn't come directly from the committees.
Stop looking for leadership. Really, it's the human love of being bossed around by assholes that causes most of the trouble in the world.
If u want a road map, create one yourself and then throw it open to the rest of the community to debate it.
I'll be happy to help, but not as a leader.  No gods, no kings.....

Which brings me to:
Excellent news , thanks CfB! Are you being paid for the extra work?

No, but I have some NXTs, so I'm a little interested in success of Nxt. Smiley

Good point!! Are there any people working on NXT who don't have a big enough stake to stay motivated? If there are we need to help them get a big stake. Maybe give them an option to buy in at a fixed price down the track.

Just give me all the NXT. I am feeling a little bit unmotivated today.....

Talking about motivation....good decision, CfB.
I thought CfB and CIYAM are working on TF to make it 100% deployed, aren't they?

I am not working on TF at all - but I do think that CfB is going to proceed with it as originally planned.

Aye, I became tired of all these useless discussions (what and how to do) and going to stick to the initial plan. I'll quit a little bit later (not on the 3rd of April), coz I can't complete all planned tasks by that date.

Damelon has almost got a woocommerce module ready to go, when its released, let's start getting NXT in use as a 1st gen currency, for example:
A NXT paywall?

Offside the great technical stuff which is developed right now we have to consider, which features NXT should have for the Joe Doe, thereby he will pay with our currency in the internet.

I thought alot about at which places micropayment is used until now. There is flattr.com, for example. I have no idea how succesful it is but there is at minimum one point to critizise: It is not anonymous at all! The flattr-company knows who is paying/donating the money because you have to register with your adress, etc.

Then I remembered a topic, that at least was discussed by a great public in germany: Content at the internet is not free & the "mass mortality" of printmedia. In a row this discussion caused the development of paywalls.  Some small and some big newspaper (resp. their online-branch) implented paywalls between the user and their content.

So, in this field micropayments in the internet shall accepted by a great group of normal people.

Should'nt we focus on these paywalls and

1) try to convince the providers to implent NXT as one of the various ways to load your paywall-account?

2) try to provide our own NXT-driven paywall-client FOR FREE for all the smaller websites and businesses? If we compete with the big paywall-providers by offering the service completly free (except the transaction fee, of cause) I personally think some smaller businesses will use the service and they'll promote automatically NXT to a wider public.
And I also suggest that we look at major online games as potential NXT clients. Perfect fit for our current market demographic, and will get NXT on the log-in screens of millions of gamers. EVE online, World of Tanks.....pay & play with NXT!

Ok, thats more than enough for now.

What's up with all the negativity and hostility lately?

I must say you really start to know the people when times get tough and there are quite a lot of folks on edge here since the prices have been dropping.

Please remember that EVERYONE can read these threads. What would you think if you were interested in a crypto and saw all this bickering and hatefulness?  Sad

The last few days I've thought of selling every one of my 72k NXT because I started to realize that with all this negativity, no matter how good the tech is, NXT will NOT succeed...

Think about the consequences when you guys barf sh*t out of your keyboards!

+1

+100 to mikesbmw.
Even if everything is going to shit, we need to keep our heads up and not fall into the trap of taking our frustrations out on others.
And again: think before you post, please. This thread has a very public function.

I'm *only* 14 pages behind on the thread, almost up-to-date, but I have a little VPS problem:

Just upgraded to NRS 8.9 from 7.5, but I'm getting 'the matrix has you' when I try to connect from home....
Anyone want to post an example of a nxt.properties file that allows full access to a VPS/node?

I'll pick it up in an hour or so, thx v. much.
1590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] NXTInfrastructure committee on: March 17, 2014, 08:32:18 PM
Good morning Infrastructure Committee,
This is a brainstorming session. We stand at the helm of the most efficient blockchain technology available. We need to set a course. We need a roadmap and timeline of Nxt goals.

My Proposed Goals:
Nxt AE release must be coordinated with an effective Marketing Campaign.
Nxt needs to (IMMEDIATELY) put together proper advertisements for programmer jobs complete with description of required duties and offered pay.
Nxt needs a USDollar to NXT registered exchange, preferably in New York State.
Nxt Point of Sale Use Case development.

We should open subthreads once the first top one or two priority projects on the roadmap are identified.

NXT Infrastructure Committee please brainstorm your ideas for Nxt infrastructure goals.

Just my feedback here:

AE/marketing: totally +10 with u here, but this is TechDev/Marketing Commitee territory, not InfCom.

Dev team needs to be beefed up. Again more a TechDev/whole community issue.

Dollar/euro/fiat gateways, yes. Not sure about basing them in the US tho', the Yanks might just change the rules in 2 weeks time and kill the whole deal.
I'd vote for a more financial freedom (and freedom in general) loving country such as Switzerland or Leichtenstein.
I believe Ethereum has gone the Swiss route.....

Point of sale: +100. Like RJ keeps on banging on at us, NXT should be able to succeed as a 1st gen crypto, if only to give us more money to support 2nd gen development.

Ans as marcus03 has just pointed out, the InfCom brains are being stormed.
1591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt is now 100% Open Source! And on Cryptsy! on: March 17, 2014, 08:19:36 PM
I think we should focus on how to land AE to the public, together with the client of Wesleyh.

We should focus on this in the next 3 weeks, because I think it will all be ready in April.

I hate the idea that we release it, but nobody knows about it like the most of our releases.

I agree, it's good idea. Ofcourse would be much better to present AE as a tool for some amazing things.
The question is what exactly amazing capabilities we will have. But my imagination still haven't answer on it.

Anyhow Wesleys client is great stuff and present it with the AE it's good idea.
I could be do cg for it. Something as this vid. Similar style.

+1000

You would definitely get rewarded by the community.

I'm adding my vote to the "lets promote AE and wesleys client for April" movement.

Nxt Marketing Committee has met!

I, as spokesperson of the Nxt Marketing Committe am proud to say we have met and are ready for action!

To keep things nice and tidy, we have set up camp in the "Unclaimed Coins" subforum of nxtcrypto, where we will keep separate threads on all applications and where we will keep our discussions.

The committee is manned and womaned by joefox, salsacz, allwelder, brooklynbtc (jefdiesel) and myself.

More info:

Nxt Marketing Fund Committee thread

We invite every one of you to come with your plans and proposals so we can get this show on the road!

Your very first bounty request is:

Please give me a lot of NXT, just for being such a charming motherf****r.

Ta very much.

Conference update:

I've submitted all of l8orre's info for his speaker slot to the BTC-Conf team, thats a bio, speech abstract and photo.
So far they are not up on the main conference site:
http://bitcoin2014.com/

But our logo is up !

Scroll down to the sponsors section (about 3/4 of the page) and there we are.....!
I expect that l8orres info will be up soon, I submitted the logo at roughly the same time.

the link should be clickable???

Good point. Of the 8 sponsor logos, 2 are clickable, active links.
I'll ask the BTC-Conf. guys to set up a link to ..........i assume nxtcrypto.org?
Any other ideas, get back to me.
1594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Nxt to NEX Buy In - Exchange 1 Nxt for 50 NEX (MODERATED) on: March 16, 2014, 08:21:26 PM

(1) No database.
(2) Poor wallet security.
(3) Insecure proof of stake scheme.
(4) Difficult address formatting.
(5) Closed source
(6) Anonymous founder and anonymous developers
(7) 21 BTC buy 100% of 1 billion coins,  how fair is that?
(Cool Uneven distribution,  4 guys have like 70% of all the coins.

Please let us know what NEX will do compared to NXT.

(1 ) What database will you implement? What programming language btw.?
(2 ) How is the proposed security mechanism? Some pseudo-code would be nice.
(3 ) How is the currently implemented PoS insecure? How do you intend to improve it? Give some technical details please.
(4 ) How is the address space of NEX designed?
(5 ) Where did you upload the alpha version of NEX? It's open from the beginning I assume, right?
(6 ) You are Carlos Perez, correct? Who are your developers?
(7 ) You plan to rise 1 Mio NXT as buyin,  how is that fair compared to the 21 BTCs?
(8 ) How will you defend issuing NEX to the same guys (sockpuppet problem)? What will be your stake in NEX? What stakes will your partners and developers get?

I'm looking forward to your honest and detailed answers.

There will be no answers...there is no product.
No client, no coin, no dev team. Just the FCs and a bunch of soon to be poorer "investors"

Correct me if I'm wrong,  Carlos.
Or just show some product.....
BTW; hows the Zenithcoin pumping working out for ya?

What does Adam B Levine have to say about NXT?

" I have 8 projects that I am working on. So far we have two of them on Counterparty, one of them on Mastercoin.. I want to do one on NXT, pretty much as soon as possible. They have some of the best software out there as far as I have seen. The wallet is really outstanding. It's funny, it's like looking on what a future version of bitcoin will be. But, you know, it's here now and you can see it."

I think we can all agree this is not the intention.

OK, I've dragged myself away from InfCom, BTC conferences and my secret plans just to visit the firehose thread.....and what do I find:

Are there some people left who're NOT dumping their Nxt? I see a lot of whales want out.

Why exactly is it?

Take a look at the top 60 accounts. Do you know how many NXT is that for 60 people?

Well, to many. Price is going down constantly last couple of weeks. Many people are leaving this thread and this community as you can see in last week or so. Stakeholders see all this as well, they are also getting little scared about the future so they are cashing out some of their NXT.

Unfortunately all of this is a snowball effect. I am afraid that if we don't get some fresh new cash soon that it might get ugly. Maybe I am wrong though. Actually, I hope I am wrong.

Far too much negativity, is what I find.
I think that some people have been very over-optimistic about how NXT is going to develop and expect it to take over the world inside a couple of months. Well, sorry, not going to happen.
Everyone who has properly looked into it can see the huge potential of NXT, we need to simply keep on rolling: developing, releasing, promoting.
At a certain moment all of that effort, all of those amazing features, all of that promotion will pay off and NXT will start to snowball on upwards. Maybe this snowball will happen when we release AE,  maybe it'll happen 3 months later with the next feature set release.
We can't predict with any certainty when that snowball moment will happen, but if we start to back out and fold our hands, it certainly won't happen.
So: HODL,  work yer asses off for NXT and it'll all come good in the end. Duck and run.....u get nothing, or close to nothing.

Talking of new features:
Allow me to introduce myself, I am an early investor in NXT, and have been floating around various community forums since november under different names. I know C++, Java, PHP, Javascript, Html, CSS, SQL, Python, and HDL (Hardware Description Language).

I haven't been around for the past two months because of health reasons, but now I want to contribute in any way I can.

I think if we integrate application level URI schemes (i.e. nxt://, as someone suggested earlier) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/aa767914(v=vs.85).aspx, with a distributed storage parallel block chain to host websites -- the value of nxt would go to 2 BN in about a week.

In fact a simple executable with root privileges could reprogram browsers without any user effort.

Thoughts? If enough people are interested I can fund this project out of my own pocket.
It's a good idea. I think it should happen. Like to see a more detailed proposal, including costs and time to live.....
To the guys worried about illegal content and the perception that NXT is facilitating criminal activities: set up an internal reporting system for possible illegal content, one that everyone can access. Anything truly out of order, will get reported.
(and by out of order, the only thing my personal morality has a problem with is hurting/exploiting kids, vulnerable people and animals, pretty much anything else is fine with me.) This needs more working out, but has a lot of potential.

This doesn't:
Nxt will feature two pages in the book called Cryptocurrency "The Alt-ernative"

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483187.new#new

Please donate to the below Nxt wallet address in order to help fund this project:

14081530087791934508
Please dont. This is an update of the old business listing scam. "Give us money, we'll put u in a book that no-one will ever see."
Buy the book when it comes out, if u need to support this idea.

And lastly:

after I contacted admin he asked me: "Is the NXT community interested in the products we offer?"

http://saltsworldwide.com/

are we interested? to buy salt by nxt? I use salt quite often

Lol, no.

WTF ? Someone wanted to use NXT for payments and u say no?
Who cares if it's salt, pepper, car parts, stickers or BF4 keys: it's all trade, its all good.
I would have expected a slightly more positive response......

Right, i'm off to my bed.
Keep the faith, stop whining, and keep on working to make NXT better.
