781  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Citigroup to pay $7 billion in subprime mortgages probe on: July 19, 2014, 12:32:41 AM
Yep no bailouts, with banks they don't really care because the money is on the computer and what not called a fractional reserve where the bank can just multiply that money into a new loan and investment and increase their balance sheets all at once.

Why they like taking a lot of loans from people and a motivation to the subprime market crisis.
The ones who lose out are the people who take that loan and lose their possessions when the credit comes in to kick them in the shins.
(or they take an arrow to the knee XD)

they lose, and the banks that make those loans are partially at fault for being predators.. but those people are also at fault for not knowing how to invest/spend their money properly. i side with the people who took out bad loans though, since there is no government to bail them out.

True but in this case we could go in a full circle and blame the education system for not teaching people the necessities of finance in school but abstract mathematical concepts instead. (with exception to computing ^_^)

That said no one wins when someone defaults the banks lose money and are predators that get to target yet another person, and it certainly is not fun being the defaultor losing your house and having to start from nothing again, but your right the defaultors don't have anyone to bail them out when the banks come and take their property and possessions, unlike the banks who are just looking for the next big payday.

i think it's a win/win for people who run the banks, really. if the loans don't fault, good.. you can get high interest rates from subprime mortgages. if everything crashes, that hurts.. but no worries, the government will step in and help out.
782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Political party and candidate...time to [un]make the regulation. on: July 19, 2014, 12:26:52 AM
i don't think a bitcoin political party is very uh.. feasible. there's not enough money going around to support candidates, and i'm not sure why a "bitcoin party" should even exist. maybe a bitcoin lobbying group though.. that makes a lot more sense.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now accepts bitcoin! on: July 19, 2014, 12:24:55 AM
Awesome news, but I still hate Dell!

I guess this includes Alienware? can anyone confirm that?

have you read any of these articles? dell is currently offering 10% off on all alienware purchases.

Wait so apparently now its illegal to lend to people without a high credit rating? Lol.

Well to the extent that they can take out giant loans on their houses without any money to back it up Smiley
There are still payday loans for the people with low credit ratings, not so much microfinance here though.

So? I lend to "low credit rating" people on here, what some people might consider stupid. If banks want to do it too, then let them, just don't fucking bail them out if/when it fails.

785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could Bitcoin's market cap stall at $8 billion forever? on: July 19, 2014, 12:21:09 AM
it's not going to happen, and if it were, that would mean that the price of bitcoin would be going down steadily, since new coins are mined every day. the longer that bitcoin goes unchanged, the more you might see weak hands cashing out. i mean, if bitcoin is still sitting at around $620 in a year, i'd think more people would be concerned.
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: A bullish day on: July 19, 2014, 12:19:52 AM
seems to be kind of the calm before the storm, lots of investor money slated to start coming in, I think we may be sarting another bull run

i don't know anymore. i mean, this is what most people here have been saying for the past 2 months, and not a whole lot has happened.
787  Economy / Speculation / Re: NEW ATH BY END OF JULY & $5000 PER BITCOIN BY END OF YEAR on: July 19, 2014, 12:16:55 AM
Short-live frenzy due to Dell might take us to near 640 but some people will dump nevertheless.

How cool would it be otherwise to have a new bubble started a few hours after Dell's anouncement?

that seems to be the trend. when there's good news like this, it'll go up slightly, and then fall back roughly to where it started.

we really need the ETF to launch if we want to see bitcoin take off.
788  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: July 19, 2014, 12:14:21 AM
so how do we find the # of posts to deduct then? do we have to sort through every post and then tally up a number?
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now accepts bitcoin! on: July 19, 2014, 12:09:27 AM
I am not a dell fan but this is good news for bitcoin. The more retailers that accept it, the higher the price will go. If we can get ebay to start taking it (I doubt it) we will be well on our way to long term success.

have you seen any retail acceptance ever make the price go up?

I don't know how people can not see that retail is a small low value part of the economy

i wasn't paying a whole lot of attention at the time, but when overstock accepted bitcoin didn't it provide a minor jolt.. until the whole mt. gox debacle? other than that, i can't really think of any example. right now, it seems that acceptance isn't a big boon for bitcoin.. i still think an ETF will send it through the roof though.
790  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Citigroup to pay $7 billion in subprime mortgages probe on: July 19, 2014, 12:00:00 AM
Wait so apparently now its illegal to lend to people without a high credit rating? Lol.

subprime mortgage lending means.. people with bad credit, which is not the same as "people with high credit rating." it's a big reason why everything crashed in 2008.. because these big banks exploited people (who are also to blame) by giving them bad loans.
791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now accepts bitcoin! on: July 18, 2014, 11:57:27 PM
How many of you still use Dell Computers?   I have them for my company, but I stopped using Dell computers a long time ago.  They were always pretty reliable, but never to aesthetically pleasing (I know that shouldn't matter all that much in a laptop selection).

In terms of Ultra Books at least, I feel like Acer and Asus (for PC) have far surpassed them, but Dell still has the big-time name recognition that will help with bringing BTC to the mainstream.

Maybe Apple will follow suit?   haha jk

dell isn't what it used to be.. i think they recently went private right? but still, their ultrabooks are pretty nice, namely the xps 13.. i like them more than the asus/acer variety. it's slimmer than your average 13.3" laptop and has a lot of nice features, and ultimately feels nicer in my hands.
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoiners Say They Vote Libertarian on: July 18, 2014, 11:54:26 PM
dont vote for parties
vote for the candidate's goals and what their track record has been

the problem is that a candidate's track record is tied to the party the represent. if you're a democrat or republican, you will be expected to do certain things that go along the lines of what your party wants.
793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS] DELL is now accepting Bitcoin !!! on: July 18, 2014, 11:44:32 PM
I don't get why everyone is freaking out over the fact that you can pay with Bitcoins to be spied on.

If you do not buy stuff then you are okay.  Not sure what the problem is. Another large retailer is accepting Bitcoin which just made your Bitcoins worth a lot more.

worth a lot more? how so? maybe in the future, but in present-day, it's worth roughly the same.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dell.com now accepts bitcoin! on: July 18, 2014, 09:43:44 PM
apple likes playing and negotiating on their own terms.. which is why i think they might not accept bitcoin until or unless it's absolutely necessary - it's because they can't control it.
795  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tea Party explained: a religious movement on: July 18, 2014, 09:34:56 PM
nice job trolling. i like it how rightwing nuts like you ignore 3 of the examples i give, and then argue against one subject. have fun fear mongering your family and friends about how obama is an autocratic nazi born in kenya to terrorist muslim parents.

oh, and here is information on todd akin, the tea party-backed candidate in 2012. i'm even using your favorite news source as evidence. you'll probably end up interpretting it however you like, since you seem to live in a tea party bubble.

796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OReilly@FOXNews.com on: July 18, 2014, 09:33:18 PM
call me crazy, but i have a little more respect for bill o'reilly than i do for guys like glen beck, rush limbaugh, or any other republican/fox noise person. bill bullshits almost all the damn time, but he's good at audaciously spinning anything.. so, even if most of what he says is bullshit, at least he's smart.
797  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tea Party explained: a religious movement on: July 18, 2014, 09:22:34 PM
^ the problem is that the most well-known teabaggers are some of the dumbest people in the country.

off the top of my head, i can name you some really dumb people: sarah palin, tod akin, michelle bachman. and there's really nothing you can say to defend your party when everyone talks about how the koch brothers engineered the tea party. it was a fake grassroots movement.

Hi stunna, im looking at joining up with your sig as i've seen good reports, just need to know if u count off topic post towards the monthly target? Thanks

You'll very likely get banned if you join a campaign and post almost exclusively in off topic like you have been doing. Pretty much your last ten posts have been in the Ban the person above you thread.

wtf mate, how did you get added as a staff member?

^ i don't think i'm on that list.. though im afraid to find out that people think i'm a junk poster  Cheesy

If someone watches Fox news on a daily basis I'm not interested in getting them into Bitcoin.

Most coiners are libertarian, soo... Kinda fighting a losing battle there.

No, the most vocal coiners are libertarian.

The "new paradigm" weirdos and the ones who think it will completely replace the dollar are but a drop in the bucket. The real potential for growth lies in the millions and millions of young people in America and other developed/developing nations worldwide.

Aside from the point: Real Libertarians don't watch Fox News. To their credit, they take a pretty neutral stance on a lot of issues. They don't impose their personal beliefs on others or sign them into law. On a political level, they don't really give a fuck about pot legalization or gay marriage or most social issues - they just defer those votes to individual states and rely on the constitution for everything else.

I'd have been okay with Ron Paul in office.

i'm not sure how many of of those wackos are around relative to everyone else, but i do know there are a shitload of them. i had an encounter with one guy who told me that bitcoin was going to overtake currency, and he linked me to a roger ver video that had little to do with his point.
