1601  Other / Off-topic / Re: IF YOU HAD 1,000,000 DOLLARS WHAT WOULD YOU BUY??? on: June 06, 2014, 06:21:18 PM
i think at this point i would just give my mom some money, maybe $30k, pay off my loans, and take out $30k to travel for 1-2 years. the rest i'd just leave in investments/bank/bitcoins. a house is nice and all, but it might not be the best thing to own at this point in time.
1602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay CEO finally surrender to Bitcoin on: June 06, 2014, 06:15:21 PM
I think that it is a bit problematic for ebay to allow payments in bitcoin because it will reduce the usege in paypal and paypal will not let it happen
I haven't been on eBay in over a decade so things might have changed but how would letting the sellers accept bitcoin be any different from letting them accept MC/Visa as far as PayPal is concerned?

i guess they could make you use bitcoin via paypal, and eat the same fees.. why not right? you'd still be using paypal to make your payments, just like you would if you were using your debit/credit cards.
1603  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You smoke? tobacco/weed etc on: June 06, 2014, 06:12:34 PM
active CBD in cannabis kills cancerous cells and that was proven in the lab in UK somewhere (i try find link) but they don't want you to know that. i tried convincing my mom before she died to smoke a bud with me but it was too late for her and it wouldn't help anyway but i remember fucking doctors didn't even wanted to hear about enzyme or vitamin therapy, not to say cannabis. all they were saying is chemo, radio, chemo, radio.  Angry RIP mom

I have a 10 gram tube of CBD oil.  Cool stuff.

But I don't smoke weed anymore.  I find it fogs the mind after you reach a certain level of inner peace.  Weed did help me get there though.  Mary will always have a place in my heart.

i take this as: dank doesn't like marijuana as much anymore, because his mind has already melted to the point where it takes no effect  Cheesy
1604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal (ebay) in banking blockade against wikileaks - please don't forget on: June 06, 2014, 06:11:21 PM
i'd like to think that most people here are glad that ebay is considering bitcoin or cryptos, but it's not that we'd use their service.. it's just about how their adoption could help move bitcoin along the lines.
1605  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You smoke? tobacco/weed etc on: June 06, 2014, 06:07:01 PM
fyi i don't smoke weed, but i do vape it. where i live, everyone consumes weed.. i've learned to like it, but only at night before bed time since it helps me fall asleep. during the day, i don't enjoy it. i like it mainly just for the relaxation.
1606  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: June 06, 2014, 06:04:45 PM
oh man, through the wormhole got really political. it was an attack on the superwealthy and inequality. it's pretty true though.

through the wormhole was also alot of made up crap, alot of ifs buts and coulds rather than science.

What stuff did they make up exactly? I've not seen it but am interested to know what they would fabricate.

i don't think it's "made up," they just showcase a lot of theoretical stuff. it's not 100% pure science, but more like the science of what could be, especially if you compare it to cosmos. i don't have a problem with it though, because people like myself like to dream of possibilities.

i also don't have a problem because they don't hide the fact.
1607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay CEO: "We will have to integrate digital currencies..." on: June 06, 2014, 06:02:15 PM
No matter what form the digital currency is in be prepared to pay ebay 10% of each purchase, paypal 3% of each purchase and whatever currency transaction fee they feel is appropriate. This will most likely be pushed onto the seller which means the buyer will pay it. I am curious to see how it is implemented though.

how could it be justified that paypal even be used with bitcoin? btc circumvents what paypal provides.
1608  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Secret Service Wants Software That Detects Sarcasm On Social Media on: June 06, 2014, 05:50:05 PM
i can help the secret service and other underground institutions: i love them, and i think their existence is completely necessary. they do great work.
1609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay CEO: "We will have to integrate digital currencies..." on: June 06, 2014, 05:45:45 PM
He says digital currencies. I wonder if that means more than just bitcoin?

it could be, but i dont think anyone would really want an ebaycoin. it doesn't have the infrastrucutre or support that anyone would want.
1610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin ready for the mainstream? on: June 06, 2014, 05:50:28 AM
i don't know if it can ever be ready for mainstream.. if by mainstream you mean almost everyone will have to know how to use it. problem is that there are people who are such luddites that they barely know how to turn on a computer.. if it were to go mainstream, the scammers would come out in droves.
1611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay CEO finally surrender to Bitcoin on: June 06, 2014, 05:48:32 AM
I'm curious as to what this will mean for Blockchain.info. Could they step up their offerings to be the next "PayPal"?

what's that even mean though? paypal provides a service that bitcoin circumvents the necessity for.
1612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going to the MOON? I dont think so... on: June 06, 2014, 05:15:27 AM
we're all hoping for the moon again.. except this time, it's saturn's moon.
1613  Other / Meta / Re: Can we make posting 3-10x in a row illegal please? on: June 06, 2014, 03:58:48 AM
it wasn't all junk posts, so i don't mind PG doing all that.. i wouldn't read through all of it though.

They don't need to be junk for it to be spam.... there is no reason he can't edit posts to add more information like the rest of us. That was probably the mildest of his multi posts, just go back through his history. The 11 post streak I remember was literally 2 mins between posts, adding more and more stuff.

I guess for some post count is more important than not spamming everyone else. I have him on ignore but 11 ignores in a row sure takes up half the page.

you have something against old man PG? seems like a few around here do, but there's always drama.
1614  Other / Off-topic / Re: NBA Playoffs - Which team are you rooting for? on: June 06, 2014, 03:57:48 AM
whatever the case may be, the spurs and their turnovers are killing me tonight.. doesn't look good for us. i really hoe they can redeem themselves after choking last year. so far wade looks pretty good.. resting him paid off.

Told you the Spurs would take game 1 Smiley.   They got lucky that Lebron couldn't finish the game... they must have broken the air conditioner in there on purpose...

either way, they went for 14/16 in the 4th, which was amazing. probably would have won it anyways.

the thing with lebron is that he's played 100+ games for the past 4 seasons, not to mention the 2012 olympics. playing this many games without breaking down until now is superhuman.. but still. doesn't look good for miami the rest of the series.

i guess that's what happens when lebron has the carry the load so wade can rest during the regular season.. they should probably rest both guys during the regular season though. they'd probably still get HCA in the first 2 rounds like they did this year anyways.
1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay CEO finally surrender to Bitcoin on: June 06, 2014, 03:22:58 AM
whoa, nice.. by this time next year, a lot of big companies will have adopted bitcoin. if wallstreet jumps in on it too, i'm thinking $10k isn't that crazy of a prediction.

1618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: eBay CEO: "We will have to integrate digital currencies..." on: June 06, 2014, 03:13:51 AM
This is very positive for Bitcoin; however, just because the CEO holds a certain sentiment, it doesn't necessarily mean that the company will have to follow suit. Like it has been mentioned, lobbying to the company's board is an entirely different situation.

That said, I think the board should be lobbied to; that would actually be a much bigger step than stating it in some sort of press release.

If there is money to be made they will get in line. That is the nature of commerce.

or they could protect their current business model by getting lobbyists to go against bitcoin.
1619  Other / Off-topic / Re: NBA Playoffs - Which team are you rooting for? on: June 06, 2014, 03:02:44 AM
eh, not going great so far into the 4th. my friend said miami was the favorite, at least on the odds.. but oh well. i might end up losing, but it's just $64

Why did I laugh so hard at this?

i was thinking the same. probably because professors are looked at as esteemed people, and the guy who did this is just LOL.
