881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: December 21, 2023, 08:30:30 PM
In fact not all gamblers have the same life situation so emotional turmoil, social isolation and family problems may not be the case for everyone. I spent a lot of money and time in life but got no response from the social side but faced some obstacles from the family. I earn the money i need to gamble myself so i have no debt accumulation and financial privacy so i am free from family pressure. But those who become addicted to gambling from unemployment have problems in all aspects of social and family life because they collect money from family. However i prefer to work in privacy myself so i may disagree with you.
What a story! Your situation is even the inverse to what many would have thought and based on the context of this title itself as you use gambling to cover for your finances and still have it as the hobby that helps you deal with the family pressure. This is one of the reasons why I say that it is not always the same with everybody, to some, it might be that gambling itself that is helping them to avoid a lot of issues and fight overthinking and depression at times. It is all about how you play it and take it the activity, that will determine what will eventually be imparted to the person by it. I hope gamblers will all be approaching it with all minds of sensitivity, they need to be calculative and be time conscious about it. I can't imagine myself gambling excessively and still wasting too much time on it. I am thorough and decisive on this and in all my gambling style, I don't think I have spent more than 3 hours at ago.

Personally, the fact that gambling could even affect one's relationship has never been my thing, although I do think it towards the angle that if the person is so irresponsible in his gambling, there could be a possibility for that, but if the person is responsible in his gambling, there is no possibility for that unless he just gambles when he is having issues with his relation to cool us. This could be good for some people instead of taking alcohol and others. But for the person who is playing responsibly and does not have issues with his relationships, gambling shouldn't be a problem as there will be a time for gambling and there will be time for family/relations. The two shouldn't mix at all, and one shouldn't deprive the other as there are wide gaps and time between them in living.

the relationship with the wife is always the first to be affected when a person is addicted to gambling. when the money runs out, it is always a factor in a broken relationship. a family can't stay whole when finances are not sufficient, and then the wife will have to stand up and find a job to support their kid.

there have been stories in movies about this, you couldn't believe it would happen to one family in real life but it does. money plays a bigger role in a family.
882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana just reached $80!!! on: December 21, 2023, 07:51:34 PM
Like the above said it's due to new events and projects. Not just that, the upcoming Bitcoin event called block halving is also contributing to why Solana has increased its price for almost 2/3 months now.

But that's not the final price this year just my guess it would reach around $112 before the end of this month and it would drop slowly before the end of January.

A good news for Solana investors, months back it wasn't celebrated like this, I hear it's pump is due to recent events of their team innovations and partnership. Again Bitcoin halving and bull run impacts many top altcoins too, because investors will be willing to also pump money into them.

Better a top altcoin like Solana, that we're sure that it'll pump back after it's bearish season than a new project  that we're not certain whether it'll turn to shitcoin.

investors who are late in getting into Sol are already regretting not buying this token while it's below $50. i kinda of see it that way already as some investors speculate that it will touch $1000 after BTC halves. while halving hasn't yet arrived, people are thinking this next bull run is the supercycle they were waiting for back in 2021 and it's happening this 2024 because of another factor which is the spot ETF.

883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which currency do you prefer to use for BTC/LTC/ETH transactions? on: December 21, 2023, 07:19:48 PM

i haven't seen any merchant accepting LTC actually but the majority accepts BTC, ETH and stablecoin. but to be completely able to make transactions, it is convenient to use BTC, it's the first option the shops want.

it's not about what you prefer, but its what the other end wants also. so if they want stablecoin especially when they see the price of BTC gonna dump soon, they will prefer to accept USDT.
884  Economy / Speculation / Re: Timely Halving Event and Bitcoin ETF a Positive Bombshell on: December 21, 2023, 06:52:16 PM
However, Bitcoin halving events have a weakening effect with each cycle, so Bitcoin ETFs have a larger impact on BTC than "halving" events when accounting for inflows and outflows.
I beg to differ but it's always halving that has the huge impact for Bitcoin's price increase. The contribution of miners and the effects of the rewards that's been halved on them are just few of the many factors that can make the price and demand higher. I think with that weak effect that you're saying is based on the price reaction of Bitcoin. Like what we have on 2016-2017 and then 2018-2021. The difference are greatly far from each other but let's just take that the effect was there and no doubt that halving has always been impactful regardless whether there's another hype or contributor from factors like ETF and from the financial institutions.
Your opinion about the impact of the halving on the increase in Bitcoin prices is quite reasonable. Bitcoin prices are also influenced by several factors including market sentiment, adoption of blockchain technology and perhaps many more. Regulations in various countries are also a significant factor that can influence prices. Additionally, developments in blockchain technology and new projects bringing innovation can also influence the perception and value of bitcoin.

with the supply getting this low that miners can only mine 3BTC, it has got to have more effect in the market while the institutions are scooping every coin they get for their ETF. and miners will not just sell the coins for low price, they are also eyeing to mke a huge profit because they know when the market couldn't sustain the anymore price will also go down making the mining not so profitable after it. this is why the speculations pf BTC reaches up to 200K, i think this is very possible.
885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard Rock to Hire 400 People Ahead of Rockford Casino Opening on: December 21, 2023, 05:58:04 PM

well, it's one way to generate money in the country and people will also get a job this casino can provide. 400 is probably just the start but you know that casinos demand more people because it will always grow just like any other business.

while it provides jobs for the people, its this kind of business that will make people go and spend more money gamble. it keeps the economy going which is what every country needs in today.

886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Michael Jordan a gambling addict ? on: December 20, 2023, 08:01:51 PM
maybe you're right about it. because the money he spent on gambling is just pennies to a billionaire. maybe he is just like drake.

true that he does have lots of things he is good at especially basketball, golf, and even baseball but i think the sports are also the ones dragging him to gambling. i'm sure someone in his team or family trying to stop him from gambling but i guess he didn't stop that why there was news about his gambling addiction.

887  Economy / Reputation / Re: The people on this site promote violence against me. on: December 20, 2023, 07:52:53 PM
~
It is morally right to be angry at those who are promoting violence against me (this includes Hispo and universities). If you are not angry at universities for promoting violence against me, then you are evil and probably demonically possessed.

Look, buddy, no one is promoting violence against you. Stop being self-serving.  You are the one who is being hateful , not anyone else.  Your inflammatory language is not only harmful but also inaccurate, and does not reflect well on you.  You need to stop peddling this nonsense and start acting like a mature and responsible adult.,  more fitting your academic standing.

If you are feeling angry or upset about something, there are better ways to deal with those feelings.  Talk to someone,  or try to find a way to channel your anger into something positive .  Violence and your hateful language will not solve anything.

-RIGHT AFTER CALLING ME A SICKO, YOU ARE CALLING ME HATEFUL? YOU SOUND LIKE A TRULY EVIL PERSON. YOU WORSHIP HITLER AND SATAN. YOU ARE PROMOTING VIOLENCE AGAINST ME BY DOING EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO DISCOUNT WHAT I HAVE TO SAY. MAY GOD DAMN YOUR WORTHLESS SOUL!

-Joseph Van Name Ph.D.

ya, all caps that don't make it look good doc.

we all saw the news and the things you are saying. the users here however are not ready to hear accusing them. no one is calling you anything until you first shoot.
just stop for a while coz maybe all you need is a glass of rum. if anyone promotes acts of violence against you it's probably because you overthink too much of the replies in here.  stay away from the computer for a while.
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Whole Concept of Bitcoin is Failing! on: December 20, 2023, 07:17:41 PM

the devs are working on it. but each dev i think also has something in mind. BTC developers are divided in favor of big blocksize and small. i have no updates on what they are doing but they will need consensus on whatever is to be decided including the miners.

it's true though. BTC is designed to be a currency but when the transaction fee is this high, you would rather be using a stablecoin of a network with low tx fees.
one reason why we insist on using BTC is that BTC is best to have as an investment which we prefer to make a profit.

890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When #Bitcoin goes up to $200,000, what do you think the #decred will be? on: December 20, 2023, 06:34:45 PM
How many of you remember $dcr #DECRED HuhHuh Smiley

I do still remember about Decred and here is the answer for the title of this thread:

When you compare a real Iphone with a fake one, the real one will always win. And in this case, Decred was designed to compete with BTC.
BTC definitely will gain more value in the future but Decred probably will only stay as an altcoin for a "mining play".

And when the BTC price hit $200k, DCR price also will rising but how high? perhaps only a few bucks.
The question is, why people need to use Decred while we can use Bitcoin?

it used to be a top coin but seems forgotten already. the current price is $15, checking on its data its more than $100 in the last bull run.

it's a very valid question as to why is there the need to Decred when there is BTC readily for everyone. so why did its price rise so high up to $100 when there is no use case.?  i think because the coin is DPOS and anyone who stake will also make profits.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: We've onboarded FBI, Secret Service to our platform on: December 20, 2023, 06:21:24 PM
It was destined to happen, I guess.
We are talking about a centralized stablecoin which tries to emulate the value of the biggest FIAT by volume and liquidity on the planet, obviously the FBI/CIA/United States government wished to get involved. The sad true is that those behind Tether and those behind big exchanges like Coinbase and Binance only wish to see their business to continue to grow, regardless what kind of laws they need to comply to be in good terms with regulators, so they can continue to operate, so there wont be any retaliation by Binance or any other centralized entity whatsoever.

By the way, all this makes be think about those very big and successful Ponzi squemes which had taken place on the internet and stole millions of dollars in USDT from people who got deceived by unrealistic interest rates. It would be interesting to know whether those men in black would feel willing to try to get that money back to the victims or they are just in for censoring and centralizing the whole ecosystem as much as possible.

I wonder what those entities would plan to do for decentralized stablecoins like DAI, will they force exchanges to delist them completely?

and they are going to be useful for the government. when they say  'who controls the money controls the world.' it does mean they also wanted to control the stablecoins.
it feels like there is no real CBDC and we are actually on board already which the real CBDC is the stablecoin in crypto.

DAI i think will also onboard the FBI on their platform. they wouldn't be able to collect tax from those users in the DEX if MakerDAO is not able to cooperate with the government.

892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your view on this? Is it fun or addiction? on: December 20, 2023, 05:43:52 PM

you're one game away from generational wealth.

they make it sound like everyone will win when their due time comes.
and they are encouraging people to take a loan and then gamble. just something that a gambler who has lost his inhibition would do.

Quote
Do you see this as addiction or just catching of fun?

might just be for fun but somebody is making money out of them. it sounded more like fun but for the users who were losing money because of their games, it's not gonna be fun when they realize they are not going to win.
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitwise The Year Ahead: 10 Crypto Predictions for 2024 on: December 19, 2023, 08:53:45 PM
The predictions are all positive for crypto. For me, prediction 1 and 2 is the most exciting. Every bitcoin hodler wants to hear bullish news. My portfolio would skyrocket if Bitcoin hits the 80k mark but I would also have mixed feelings because as the price goes up more and more, that makes it more difficult to own a whole Bitcoin. I would have to work thrice as hard to be able to afford 1bitcoin @100k price.

Prediction 7 is the least exciting, I thought we have seen the end of NFTs but it seems musicians and famous people will continue to create NFTs.

I believe we will see a bullish next year if there is no pandemic.

Taylor Swift is actually the most exciting. people spend a ton of money just to see her distract the people from what exactly is going on on the global stage.
But OP had already arranged the top predictions, over $80k will be the greatest among the 10, it will be its most volatile by then.

this bitwise ad has been discussed in many channels recently. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nl3pNXbfDc0
the company is super bullish with BTC that they have this ad. and for a moment i thought it was peter shciff
894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 19, 2023, 07:50:05 PM
At first I wanted to blame lazy tokeweed for not having his job done this morning Grin As we all dont see new event announcement. But it turns out that UFC is now off to Christmas & New Year holidays, as the next event will be only on January 13-14 2024. tokeweed, you are officially forgiven.

Lets focus on DDP vs Strickland free fight of the night Cheesy This looked so fake, so artificial, so staged. I like how Strickland asked Burns wife and kids to move and give him space Cheesy Its is nice that he wasnt dumb enough to start brawl so near them. Why I think it was staged - because camera was suddenly in front of them, and they sat so close. They had all time of the world to start brawl, but they have started it only when camera was shooting Cheesy

I also believe it was fake. And I said that because Strickland is someone who does a lot in front of the camera. What I have heard is that he is a very different person on camera and off camera. And of course, this was staged. So that they can sell more pay per views. And I think it might actually work. But obviously not that much. If they actually want to make a record-breaking sale, they will again have to bring Conor McGregor or someone like him to break another bus  Grin

Regards

Duke

crazy stuff dana has got to stop inviting Trump over there.  they've been acting crazy on camera even colby. sean is at least genuinely crazy and can be annoying to his opponent. but there is just none of them is like conor who can back what he says on camera during his prime days.

they have to have something great to show when the ufc is back like the superfight that dana was promising to make up for having no ufc in weeks.

micheal page vs holland
zhang vs grasso

i think will be in the main card. mike page's first at 37.
895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether: We've onboarded FBI, Secret Service to our platform on: December 19, 2023, 07:27:05 PM
1. Centralized exchanges releasing user personal information and block suspected accounts or transactions
2. Mining pools rejecting transactions from blacklisted wallets
3. Tether freezing USDT

They've done quite a lot and they are not stopping there.

The next thing I want to see is these exchanges delisting USDT from all their trading pairs as a retaliation. Binance could spearhead this hehe.

nope. delisting usdt will not serve their purpose if they are up for surveillance but sure they will freeze lots of accounts even outside the US. so it might not be safe to store the usdt in your ether wallet after the bull run.

sure many of us will have our stablecoins lying in our wallets by that time and it is right for the picking for the FBI agent. but i think they will not really freeze your usdt when you did nothing wrong.
896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which type of gambling have more gambling addicts ? on: December 19, 2023, 06:10:33 PM
Those who are addicted to gambling are someone who often engages in gambling activities at home. Why is that.?

Because a gambler prefers to play at a casino, I am sure that they will not come there every day, because there are times when they are very busy, so they cannot come to the casino. And someone who likes one-on-one gambling with physical players available at the table, there will still be times when the opponent is not there, or he is busy.

Meanwhile, people who gamble at home always have time for it, so they gamble very often. And the longer a person spends time carrying out gambling activities, the closer they are to falling into the addiction of gambling.

But it's good to do it wherever you are, as long as we are still gambling, the possibility of falling into the addiction of gambling is always there. Moreover, if we cannot control ourselves over the gambling activities we carry out.

for families who are literally gambling inside their houses, it is very open for all of them and they may be aware of the addiction so anyone who somehow forgot to do their chores at home will be advised by the elders to stop until the chores are done. when one student gets a C they will see, that their gambling may have to stop. pretty open for them.

but those who do it secretly like sneaking out to go to a local casino, could mean he is addicted. physical casinos are more enticing than ones we browse with out phones.
897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 19, 2023, 05:27:27 PM

if you don't need the money yet, you can wait til the ATH of BTC after halving i think more of the altcoins will hit 10x. just a suggestion.

the altcoins i bought also pumped especially the memecoins but because i see no reason to withdraw yet and i have no plans yet on what to do with the money i'd just let it be hoping for it to go wildly up when BTC halving is over. the market will then be insanely bullish along with the ETF fomo.
898  Economy / Economics / Re: Sea Piracy, it's effect on the local economy on: December 19, 2023, 05:03:07 PM
I believe that piracy still thrives on the ocean because there are powerful individuals that benefits from the criminal activities, if it's not so then the illegal and criminal business will not still be active today, because most of these countries have naval forces that can combat these criminals. Most of these pirates might have been ordinary fishermen that were brainwashed and trained into carrying arms and terrorising genuine ship crews who are doing their legitimate businesses. You'd wonder who arms them with sophisticated weapons and teaches them the commando styles of seizing ships and kidnapping their crews for ransom. Most crimes of theses magnitudes are highly organized, so there has to be deeper questions to be answered in order to find a lasting solution to the menace of these pirates, if not I think that it'll continue business as usual.

There will be always several people who will need resources and will rely on illegal activities like sea piracy. Not only the naval forces that scare them to start piracy but also the fact that even the crew itself has self-defense weapons such as guns, spikes, etc. which the pirates lack resources for them to enter the ship for looting. Just ordinary fishermen with a lack of experience in battle, since most of the terrorist who are using them lacks the number of men even kids take them as part of their men. Plus some of them are being blackmailed so they have no choice but to agree or else they will be killed. It is really hard to find a solution to this since the root of this problem probably would be poverty and almost every country in the world experience it.

the piracy in the regions that OP mentioned is politically driven since it is allegedly supported by Iran, especially the Houthis rebels in Yemen who recently just shot a ship with their missile.

the Djibotis are on the other side which are also up to no good in this passage. if the ships will decide not to pass in the Red Sea to go around Europe, their supply chain will be delayed for almost a month. consequently, this will affect the supplies in our supermarkets thus indirectly affecting the local economy.
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who lost money due to dogecoin? on: December 18, 2023, 08:06:21 PM

the impression to new investors in crypto was that its Elon who introduced doge to them. which they only remember the price of doge is more than $0.10 already. it's not surprising though since Elon is the one who made doge more popular with newcomers in investors. just like they said the memecoins are the crypto gateway.

and most of those newcomers bought doge at a price of more than its current. so yep they may have lost funds.  this coming bull market, i think the lesson is already engraved in the experience.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading new listed coin/token on: December 18, 2023, 07:15:15 PM

wash trading was very common in the early days to make the newly listed token to be more desirable for those investors looking for new assets. but i'm not sure if the exchanges are allowing it or they are doing it themselves. both parties will benefit from it so why shouldn't they? increasing the trading volume certainly will make the token attractive.

forex is very different but the stock market is more comparable to crypto.
