921  Economy / Goods / Re: Is http://physicalbitcoins.openbtcshop.com/ Legit or a Scam? on: May 12, 2013, 03:05:33 AM
I've discovered that it is legitimate, but additional fees apply for international shipping, insurance, etc.
922  Economy / Goods / Is http://physicalbitcoins.openbtcshop.com/ Legit or a Scam? on: May 12, 2013, 01:08:31 AM
Has anyone bought bitcoins from this site (and actually received them)?: http://physicalbitcoins.openbtcshop.com/

Prices seem too low to be true. I would love to be proven wrong though. If you can attest to placing an order and receiving it from this site, please post a reply!

923  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius Coins on: May 12, 2013, 01:06:16 AM
Can anyone testify to buying coins on the site the poster provided a link to...this one: http://physicalbitcoins.openbtcshop.com/

Honestly I think its a scam. As OP broke it down, it would be impossible for someone to sell coins this cheap unless they bought like a million of them. If anyone has made a purchase on there and gotten it, let me know!
924  Economy / Goods / Re: Donate Your Sperm For Bitcoin? on: May 11, 2013, 11:43:57 PM
No offense to anyone wishing to donate sperm, but I meant it when I said it is harder to be chosen as a sperm donor than it is to get into Harvard. The sperm banks run tests on you like you wouldn't believe. Its not like they're trying to find alpha male sperm or anything, but they do absolutely everything in their power to make sure that that sperm would make a healthy baby.

As far as paint thinner and fertilizer-I had no idea sperm could be used for those. I also have no idea how I got into this conversation.
925  Economy / Goods / Re: Thinking about creating my own physical Bitcoin... on: May 11, 2013, 10:52:33 AM
I think it'd be awesome if you made the coins out of silver. That way they would retain some value AND be a collectors item even after they're spent.
Mmm, might be a possibility!  Especially if they were 1 BTC denominations...
Here: http://www.freedomsilvermint.com/custom-minting.html
It would cost you $200 for the die (which lasts forever), and there is a minimum order of 100@$2.75over spot of your custom rounds.

I just looked quickly to give you an idea. I'm sure you'd be able to find a less-expensive method.

Goof luck!

do those prices include shipping?
927  Economy / Goods / Re: Donate Your Sperm For Bitcoin? on: May 11, 2013, 03:12:42 AM
Just think of the possibilities. You can tip with it at a strip club and LITERALLY make it rain 'Jizz' Smiley
That is just absolutely disgusting.

930  Economy / Goods / COOL Rare Coins [In Your Price Range!] on: May 11, 2013, 02:17:44 AM
So, I have always wished that there were more people into rare coins who are also into bitcoins. But, its all Bullion. You might see the occasional Morgan Dollar on BitMit (careful! Morgans are the most faked coin!). But really, there aren't any rare, numismatic coins available for sale for bitcoins. I created the site below to try to change that. If you're into rare coins at all, or you just think they're cool, join the site! Rare, numismatic coins are not just something you collect for fun-they're an investment. The metals marked is volatile-especially lately. Numismatic coins hold their value, and only increase as time goes on. They are not subject to falling bullion prices, because you aren't selling them for the precious metal content they might have-you're selling them to a collector. One thing I have learned is that there is ALWAYS someone looking to buy any rare coin you might have.

931  Economy / Goods / WANTED: Your spent Casascius Coins! on: May 11, 2013, 01:41:34 AM
Hi,
I am looking for any Casascius coins that have been spent. The back does not even have to be clean. I'm interested in any Series/Denomination. I have silver and many other things to trade (bottle of Cuban Rum posted for close to $100 on here, expensive rare coins, etc). An offer I think  is fair is that for 1BTC or 5 BTC Used Coins (I don't care the year/series) I will give you $1 Face Value of 90% Silver US Coins. I'll even (to the best of my ability) allow you to select whether you want dimes, quarters, or half dollars. If you want to propose an offer, by all means please PM me. I just like using old Casascius coins to hold my bitcoins (I put my own hologram on back). I store basically all of my coins offline (a little paranoid), and this is the coolest way.

Remember-if you have any spent coins that you're even mildy interested in selling/trading, please PM me. I have a feeling we can work something out.

934  Economy / Goods / Re: New UK reseller of 0.5BTC casascius coins - Shipping included. on: May 10, 2013, 10:54:54 AM
Have updated OP

Just a quick note also.

As of this minute they are currently still: UNFUNDED (only received yesterday and still need casascius to load bitcoins onto them, this is SOP for casascius coins, I can ask him to post in here and confirm my ownership of said coins just to alleviate any concerns that any of you may have)

I will update with better quality images very soon.

While I can guarantee the fact that all handling by myself was done while wearing gloves, I cannot guarantee that these coins shall remain tarnish or blemish free. I am in no way a collector of coins so I have limited knowledge in how to prevent things such as tarnishing or other possible coin related storage issues that may arise.

If you have any questions at all then ask away, thats what im here for.

Just make sure the gloves are powder-free..VERY important.
935  Economy / Goods / Re: Cabins rentals at Big Bear Lake, CA on: May 10, 2013, 10:53:11 AM
Let me look into this.  It shouldn't be a problem.  We're right at the base of the mountain, 5min drive to the resort.  Pretty good sledding nearby too if you have kids.  5min drive to Big Bear Village too (we're just far enough way Wink

Nice, so price doesn't go through the roof-I assume. I'll talk to some friends to see if theyre interested, too. I'll let you know.

Thanks!
936  Economy / Scam Accusations / Damien Edington of Canada=SCAMMER on: May 10, 2013, 09:57:28 AM
Hi everyone,
I am into collecting coins, and have always wished to see more numismatic (collectible/rare-not bullion) coins available for sale in bitcoins. So, the other day I registered the domain name "bitcoinnumismatists.com" (for only 50 cents at www.networksolutions.com/Domains - take advantage of that deal before it expires!). I used a basic site site builder to create an interactive forum where users could post classified type ads ("wanted" and "for sale") of rare coins available for bitcoins.
I was happy to see that within a few days I already had a couple posts (I have advertised on this forum and only this forum). One was a "wanted" listing for pre-1933 US gold-no sketchiness with this one.
The next was a "for sale" listing for an 1889 Carson City Morgan Dollar graded AU 55 by PCGS. That coin is worth, conservatively, over $6,000 (http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/NumismediaPrice-Trends.aspx?c=17190&g=50).

Now, that was out of my price range so I asked the guy if he had any other coins. My thinking is if you have a coin such as this, you probably are a pretty avid collector. He said that he did not. Red-flag #1

I kept looking at the picture he posted (see ones below), and something just looked wrong. I took a couple of my coins in PCGS holders to compare. There was DEFINITELY something wrong. What pops out most, and what you will probably have the easiest time noticing is the spacing between letters/numbers/words. On the fake one, characters and words are spaced noticeably further apart than on a real one. Also, the slab is just different, and the coin contained in the holder looks like it is of poor quality and is definitely not an AU 50 coin. The scary thing is though, you REALLY have to be familiar with coins, etc in order to notice the imperfections. Just on one note, if you see a graded  coin you want to buy, I would be happy to verify its authenticity for you (as long as pictures are in good clarity).

Now, please let me explain how this guy is such an idiot:
This thing will never sell, period (unless its to another STUPID scammer). He picked a fake $6,000+ coin to buy. Don't you think people at that level of collecting (not EVEN that level) can spot this fake from a mile away? And its not like you can sell it at a discounted price...grades standardize prices for coins. If his is even barely lower in price than a REAL 1889 Carson City Morgan, people MIGHT get suspicious Wink

I found this gem, too: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/PCGS-AU50-1889-CC-Morgan-coin/666985659.html

Looks a little familiar I bet, huh?

Finally, please read our discourse on the forum, it will entertain you for 30 seconds

Sorry if that is in bad resolution.
Bottomline: Don't deal with this guy EVER and be careful about buying coins (ESPECIALLY Morgans). And finally, its kind of scary they have the ability to make these.
937  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to SAFELY sell Bitcoins on eBay on: May 10, 2013, 08:14:56 AM
There are quite a few holes in this method even if it has worked for you it won't work for long.
Explain them to me
938  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to SAFELY sell Bitcoins on eBay on: May 10, 2013, 01:22:09 AM
I am not pulling anyone's leg here. Of course its always good to do your due-diligence, but no matter what the method there is always a possibility of being scammed. This method seriously minimizes it. There is a huge potential to be scammed for any transaction you do on here...so whats the answer to that? Its anyone's right to think what they want of this method, but I have sold (I don't know how many coins) $2000 worth of bitcoins using this method and never had an issue. If thats enough assurance for you, use this method. If you want to remain paranoid and think up every possible "what if" thats fine, too.

EDIT: Also, I have had people order one of my listings, and then when they see how it is they will receive their coins they ask me to cancel the transaction (likely would-be scammers).
939  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to SAFELY sell Bitcoins on eBay on: May 10, 2013, 01:18:08 AM
It isn't scamproof (nothing is except maybe shipping goods AFTER getting bitcoins Smiley.

ebay allows dispute "not as described".  Ebay will allow the buyer to send the goods back and then will get a full refund.

Pay
Receive
Send photo
Transfer BTC
Dispute
Get money back.

Buyers have been abusing "not as described disputes" for years.  Usually it justs the seller the sale (plus expense and hassle of return, funds on hold, etc).
https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/How-to-use-PayPal-Archive/Buyers-abusing-quot-not-as-described-quot-to-force-refund-when/td-p/15414

That's why they send you a message and you take a screenshot on blockchain. If the customer opens a case that item was "not as described" you have those to show eBay.

Example:
"Dispute: Not a described. Seller claimed he would fund the cert with x Bitcoins but he did not.  I wish to return this worthless cert as it is not as described.  Please help me PayPal I feel the seller is trying to take advantage of people.  I will gladly pay return shipping"

I feel it is dangerous to be advertising a "safe" method of selling on ebay, especially in the noob forum.  While it certainly is safER than do an online transaction it is hardly safe.  Even if you win the dispute, the scammer can just have the credit card company chargeback the funding transaction, and PayPal will reverse it on you in response.  Buyer's protection doesn't cover chargebacks related to "not as described".

Claims or Chargebacks for Significantly Not as Described.
Items that you deliver in person, including in connection with In-Store Checkout.

PayPal Direct Payments.

Items that are not shipped to the recipient's shipping address on the Transaction Details Page. If you originally ship the item to the recipient's shipping address on the Transaction Details Page but the item is later redirected to a different address, you will not be eligible for PayPal Seller protection. shipping and delivery.

Does the screenshot of the transaction on blockchain with timestamp mean nothing? You can think through what if scenarios all day, I'll be selling my bitcoins on ebay for literally almost 200% markup.
