But if you tell about money making schemes for sure there's a lot of people will get interested about it but don't hype people for wrong things just let them discover this and only those interested people would provably stay.
You're right about that. That's why they keep losing money because what they invest in, most times, turns out to be Ponzi. I've had people ask me how much they stand to gain if they invested in Bitcoin, making it sound like what those ponzi guys tell them ahead of time to get their attention. How can anyone predetermine what profit to make in cryptos if not that they want to run a ponzi scheme. Bitcoin isn't a get rich quick thing, and they should all know that.

You can lose your bitcoin if a hacker get access to your wallet private key and move your bitcoin to their wallets.
Your response, going by that comment, wasn't what OP was asking and to which I responded. Let me refresh your mind on what OP asked again... 👇

Unlike fiat which the amount in your bank account remains what it is, bitcoin in your wallet will constantly fluctuate, meaning that there is chances that you can gain or lose your bitcoin.

OP wasn't referring to losing one's Bitcoin to  hackers or anything of that nature. Rather, what they were asking was if there was any situation that would make one's Bitcoin hedl to decrease in its unit. Let's say 0.005 BTC reduces to 0.004 and continues that way until it gets to zero or that it increases beyond 0.005 BTC.

It would've been better when written this way 👇 so that anyone can easily grasp the topics you're referring to at once...

Cryptomultiplier – 10 tips to manage one's emotions while trading crypto.
gentlemand – Trading, emotions and your fine selves
Sakanwa – Emotion and Trade?
Me – Emotions dealing.

To be able to do that, quote my post to see what stuff were added to get it the way it's. By the way, your suggestion isn't bad too.
964  Other / Meta / Re: Too Many Forum Boards - Outdated Threads - Let's Delete Boards on: September 12, 2023, 05:42:44 PM
Hope forum admin give me higher rank for good suggestion.  Grin
Funny dude. But of course, you shouldn't stop at asking for just a rank upgrade. Ask to be made an admin too 🙄

It's rather unique suggestion. But rather than delete, IMO it'd be better if certain inactive board under Archival board instead.
This should be the way to go, archive the inactive boards instead of deleting them so that the forum doesn't lose any important topic in those boards.

However I don't see any reason why you should use red color to post.
I guess it was OP's way of drawing emphasis to the comments they made.
965  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You can get played by anybody on: September 12, 2023, 03:47:43 PM
Apart from the fact that it's hackers at play here, even if the real people ask for your private key you will give them? It seems many people don't even understand crypto.
This reminds me of someone I tutored a few years ago. In one our classes I told him on no account should he release his passphrase or password to anyone, including me. Few days later, I tested him and asked him to release the passphrase to me. He refused. I told him I wanted to check for something. Guess what? He released it. I told him he just messed up. I was his tutor and I let him know he shouldn't do that. Then I wonder how those who release theirs to random strangers reason.

I am really sorry that many people lost their funds to hackers who hacked vitalik account on Twitter but we need to discuss this, it's for your own good when people on here tell to stop seeking for free stuffs, because if it's free you are the product.
Frankly, I don't feel any pity for such people. Their greed got them into it. Those who always crave freebies as if money grows on trees will always be victims to such.
966  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 12, 2023, 12:09:23 PM
I will like to ask you guys how many times you have lost Bitcoin to hacks or your own mistakes...
Well, let's say I'm one of the few lucky people who haven't got hacked or lost Bitcoin through inappropriate ways, except investing wrongly.

Quote
and why are you still not giving up.
It should be very simple – winners don't quit and quitters don't win. Those who lose and give up are the real failures but those who aren't deterred by their losses never failed.

Can you keep buying bitcoin if you have already get hacked like twice or more in the past?
But of course, I will. All I've to do is to find how I got hacked and all that. I've discovered that most people get hacked through malware they unknowingly download. So, it's important to be weary of links one downloads. Again, once you find in your wallet anything that looks like tokens but you didn't buy them; don't attempt o claim then. Ignore or delete them at once. That's what I do.
967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Importance of inviting Newbies to Bitcointalk on: September 12, 2023, 11:16:30 AM
The presence of newcomers injects vitality into the community.
Really? How's that so? In my books I think newcomers even come with a lot of baggage that the forum helps to dismantle and not the other way round. But that isn't jettisoning the fact that a handful of them have proved themselves beyond expectation upon registering here.

Quote
so far I have invited 3 person to Bitcointalk, but just 1 of them is here and still actively engaging on the forum.
That's often the problem with people. I've invited several others too and almost all of them displayed this same attitude. Just ignore the unserious ones and move on. At the right time they will come asking to be led. Learning is always the hardest part for most people. They don't like to wait for the process. They want to jump the queue and into success with little or no effort at all. Life isn't that way.
968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Stabilize Bitcoin on: September 12, 2023, 09:06:33 AM

Bitcoin's volatility is benefiting us greatly...
Exactly! Remove that volatility from Bitcoin and you will see the entire market go to sleep. Bitcoin is on the driving seat in this industry. Most often when it bleeds, the entire market feel the pain; and when it's thriving the entire market comes alive. We've seen this happen many times. Now, to want it to become stable, as in, to expect to see the type of movements we find in stable coins with Bitcoin? Nah, that won't be exciting. We need this adrenaline pumping in our chests while trading this market. OP should seek other altcoins to trade if they really want something stable.

The dollar is not a stable, is it?
No, it isn't. You can check currency pairs in Forex trading and see how the dollar fluctuates against other currencies it's paired with.
969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your purpose of belonging here on: September 11, 2023, 10:52:45 PM
I don't know your purpose of belonging here but you can present yours as well, Maybe we can also learn by sharing thoughts feelings.
As basic as your question is, I can say there are simply just two reasons people troop to this forum – learning and earning. I don't know which supercedes the other for you (or anyone else). To state it clearly, a great number of people come here to earn but won't admit it publicly. Those who stumbled on this forum by chance (like I did) became glued to it because of the perks it offers. I've yet to see a forum that allows you learn and earn. Again, I must confess, there's so much one can learn here for free. Those two points will keep attracting more people here and the influx gets even higher during the noise of bull rally.

The forum magically attracted me, and to this day, mornings and nights end with reading this forum.
Do you wear glasses? I'm just thinking of the screen time and its effect on the eyes.
970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Stabilize Bitcoin on: September 11, 2023, 10:24:41 PM
Until we begin to think of Bitcoin as more of an asset than a means of payment, this type of reasoning will continue to inundate our minds. From the evidence of things around us, we can see that Bitcoin attracted people to it because of its power to replicate value in price and not necessarily because we pay for things with it. If it's as a payment option, there are several altcoins that can do that. No one stabilizes assets. They're meant to appreciate or depreciate in value, subject to the law of demand and supply. This is what I see with Bitcoin.

Fluctuation is freedom
Pegging is tyranny
I'm in agreement with that, completely. It's the same tyranny of the financial institutions and middlemen that Satoshi aimed to dismantle and someone is asking for it to still be upon us?
971  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Don't Give up on: September 11, 2023, 05:18:48 PM
when it's not yet your turn, don't be tempted to think people ahead of you are using juju to succeed. it's their turn. keep on clapping for them and do not envy them. your turn will definitely come if you remain consistent and never give up.
That "juju" mention there reminded me of a recent comment Destalker (comedian) made about a fast rising comedian, Akpororo, where he said he thought the later was using juju as he was in constant demand to perform at events. The juju thing has always been the case with the black race, especially those in Africa who've soaked themselves in those obnoxious beliefs and cultural practices where every fast success is attributed to some mystic power.

But do you know that there are friends and relatives whose dreams and prayers in life is for you to fail.
Yes, there are people like that who will wish others evil. However, those people can't be called friends. They're pretenders. Friendship isn't defined as exchanging handshakes and banters with others. We shouldn't tag people as friends simply because we've exchanged something with them. Friendship goes beyond that.
972  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Seeking Passive income offer with low risk on: September 11, 2023, 03:48:13 PM
Normally you don’t get decent yield on staking bitcoin.
I guess you wanted to say stake to earn Bitcoin and not stake Bitcoin.

People who suggest @OP to stake his coins is wrong, staking is earning small amount of coins by taking big risk since smart contract is vulnerable and the centralized site can get hacked, so the @OP would lose all of his coins.
You're right. Staking bears more risk than its supposed reward. I learnt this valuable lesson  from experience last year and it shocked me to the marrows. Before then, I had thought earning passively by staking was a piece of cake until two sites owned by one source I staked on shut down last year. I lost all my tokens (KCLP, and other two tokens) on it. Still suffering from that shock, I used to check coingecko back then to find out the prices of those tokens I lost until I found out that they no longer trade.

Unlike fiat which the amount in your bank account remains what it is, bitcoin in your wallet will constantly fluctuate, meaning that there is chances that you can gain or lose your bitcoin.
No, you can't lose or gain your Bitcoin in your wallet. It remains the same all through. What changes is the value, either in loss or in gain but your Bitcoin remains the same. It goes to support the argument of those who say 1BTC = 1BTC. The two ways you can lose your Bitcoin is if it's hacked, either on an exchange or in your wallet. The second is if you trade it on Futures.

This confirms that the chances of getting rich can also make you poor.
In Bitcoin, the chances of making someone poor is very (very) slim. The slim percentage is when those who invest in it get in at ATH and aren't patient to wait for a recovery time. It takes a maximum of four years in Bitcoin investment for every worse case scenario to turn positive. I've observed this keenly.

Quote
So do you think that I'm correct about bitcoin, that it is not an easy way to get rich quick as some people will make believe, and it is just like other ventures where there is no guarantee of getting rich?
Well, those who think it's a shortcut to quick riches should've themselves to blame. It's never and should never be thought that way. This is one of the misconceptions of noobs. I see Bitcoin as an asset and for an asset to appreciate you've got to give it time.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alteration of bitcoin 21M cap: Is it possible, necessary or needless? on: September 11, 2023, 12:37:39 PM
What do you have to say about a sudden alteration of the bitcoin 21 million cap perhaps in the future. Do you think it should ever be increased ?
Whatever that alters Bitcoin's maximum supply of 21 million (whether in reduction or in increment) will destroy the staggering trust it has gained. The trust people have in Bitcoin stems from the assumption that it can't be tampered with. Once anything tampers with it, I trust the media to run with it on end. Again, there will be a classification of it being the same as the rest of the altcoins that can easily be manipulated. The panache it carries will die off instantly. To your second question, I say no.

Quote
What would an increment mean to you? And can an alteration of the supply limit spell a disaster as some opined?
As answered above 👆
975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mempool reaches 600K transactions on: September 11, 2023, 11:30:31 AM
These fees are still not that bad. Paying 10 sats byte is still cheap. Usually it’s cheaper than sending ERC20 tokens on Ethereum network.

I remeber when Ethereum was so clogged you would need to pay $50 just to move some tether around. Waiting until the weekends barely made any difference. No idea who could afford the $150 dex trades in those days.
Glad that does days are over.
You can say Bitcoin fees are way cheaper than those of ETH but we still can't say it doesn't cause lack of interest for those who want to come in and invest in Bitcoin. It does. When someone tells you their transactions are stuck on the Blockchain for days, it should discourage you at the time to want to make any transactions in Bitcoin yourself. The major thing that caused me to move away from any project that has to do with paying transaction fees in ETH is because of ETH's exorbitant fees in the past. This has remained so till date. I know sometimes it comes down low but I don't want to take chances and expect that tx fees for ETH will remain down when I want out. Doing that will expose me to a certain level of vulnerability when I need to go out. I got like that.
976  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do we benefit in lies in forum on: September 11, 2023, 08:06:57 AM
Instead of formulating what is not real to write, it's better to make research of bitcoin and educate others through your research...
How do you think Satoshi Nakamoto arrived at creating Bitcoin if not that he allowed his imagination got a better of him, and then followed it up with research? I don't think there's any issue with allowing one's mind run wild or amok with imagination. After all, there's a part of writing that's called fiction. We read books, and most of them in prose are fiction. Meaning that the stories in those fictious books never happened to the authors at the time the books were set. The only issue I see when users put up stories here that aren't real will be if the intent of those putting them up is to deceive. To that I condemn. Otherwise, let the entertainment begin. Behind every story there's a lesson to be learnt.

How about a "Fact-check" badge or "Community Verified" stamp? It will highlight real sharers and help beginners traverse crypto's perilous waters.
Doing that would be tantamount to bridling free speech (in this case, free post). I know how that feature will be misused if it's allowed here.
977  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin will be $173,566 before November, 2025 on: September 10, 2023, 07:01:08 PM
OP's prediction, together with majority of users here, takes a definitive angle that Bitcoin will sweep past $100k in 2025, at least. In my assessment (long before now), I had put it between $120k – $150k. I took my prediction from perusing past historical data and at what magnitude they've been able to surpass the ones before them. The current ATH is $69k+. There's every possibility of the incoming ATH doing more than twice the current price. That puts it above $130k. To be on the safe side, a starting point of $120k speculation won't be out of it. Anything short of $120k will mean that expectations were cut short.
978  Economy / Speculation / Re: How do you suggest I handle incorrect price predictions? on: September 10, 2023, 05:29:04 PM
I find it frustrating when my price prediction for the market fails. it is difficult to predict the market movement due to its uncertainty and also that it is not possible to consistently predict the future accurately but it still hurts when I tell it to my friends and it doesn't turn out so.
If you knew all that, why then do you feel frustrated about your predictions not hitting the bull's eye? Except you're one who makes a boast of your predictions under certainty to your friends that they must come to pass but they don't happen that way. Everybody in this industry knows how unpredictable it's. So, I don't see why anyone should be flummoxed if it happens otherwise.

Quote
In January, I had predicted that by the third quarter of the year, bitcoin will hit $35k - $40k. I hide my head in shame because right now it is struggling at $25. Maybe I should stop quarterly prediction and stick with monthly predictions.
If you're better at monthly prediction, stick to it. By the way, price prediction should serve you a purpose of knowing what to expect so you can better prepare your trades or hodlings. It should be for your growth and betterment, not necessarily for applause.

Quote
Also how do you suggest I handle incorrect price predictions?
Do nothing! Don't get depressed over it.

Quote
Anybody been here. How do you handle it?
Get to work, learn TA and then keep an eye on fundamentals. This industry is influenced mostly by news (fundamentals) than TA. However, when there's no news coming, TA takes over. That's why the knowledge of both should be a necessity for anyone in cryptos.
979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HALVING IS GOING TO CAUSE A GENERAL EFFECT ON ALL IN THE ECOSYSTEM. on: September 10, 2023, 04:12:43 PM
I don’t know if you’ve heard of plagiarism here in the forum and what punishment is being applied to account that are found guilty of it.
I don't think you can categorically say the OP's post you quoted was plagiarized. What I read from it is someone who read something somewhere for a long time and internalized it to reproduce later.

Bitcoin halving has really effect the cryptocurrency market, because many new investors that came in during last Bull Run are feeling disappointed as the crypto market is on the Bear motion that seriously dropping most investors assets to zero dollar.
It's their fault and they should bear the brunt. They got themselves where they're because of greed. According to Warren Buffett, I repeat in paraphrase, we should buy when others are scared of buying and sell off once we start seeing people rush into the market. Those investors you so referred to bought when people rushed in. They waited too long to buy in. It's the same way we've been chorusing that now is the right time to buy in because of the incoming Bitcoin halving next year. Sadly, many people are reluctant to do that now. Wait till 2024, you will see them chase the market. But of course, they will buy high then and discover that the market has dumped on them.
980  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful messing around with default settings. on: September 10, 2023, 04:00:40 AM
Very simple right? but that took me time to figure out and may take some newbies time to figure out too, just like other settings if they tamper with the default settings on their account.
I understand the big brother role you're trying to play there by guarding newbies. That's great but don't you think it's better for them (everyone of us, actually) to know where things are, than not know at all? I'm one of those who like to tweak things around to find out where they're so I don't get lost around them during an emergency. However, to do that successfully I first of all take note of where they're before tampering with them. Sometimes, I take pictures of them before venturing in. It helps that way in case I get confused way in.

There’s one quote I think will fit into this situation ”One man’s meet is another’s poison”.
It's actually, meat. "One man’s meat is another’s poison."
