Since there are some speculation posts here that Klopp could perhaps take over as coach of FC Bayern directly after his time at Liverpool, his agent made it clear again today that this will definitely not be the case. He will also not be taking over a national team after the European Championships for the time being.

It’s quite interesting that there seem to be so many specialists (and new ones like Xabi appearing all the time) but it seems that there is a shortage of head coaches on the market. Anyone who has made a name for himself can choose as much as he wants among the top offers, or do nothing at all and wait for some special option (like Zidane). I don’t quite understand why this is so, because every year many smart football players end their careers and some of them become coaches, is the conversion really so low?
682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: February 22, 2024, 04:09:33 PM
Today I decided to check the quotes for the title (in the hope that they are still better than a bank deposit, haha, just kidding):

Paris Saint Germain 1.01

Brest 49.98
As Monaco Fc 79.38
Lille 98.98
Nice 98.98

they are already much worse. Although there are 3 months left until the end of the championship, and PSG will become the official champion approximately 5-6 rounds before the end. If you think about it from this point of view, 1% for two months is very good, but in fact few people are interested.
The fight for the two remaining spots in the Champions League between four teams looks much more interesting. Brest is a logical favorite, but for some reason Monaco is rated better than Nice and Lille, which in my opinion is simply a reflection of the “strength” of the brand and not the real strength of the game.
683  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 22, 2024, 03:51:10 PM
Even if Kane was bad, there is no point in publicly criticizing the player, the coach should help him progress. I just don’t know what Tuchel is thinking. Maybe he will be fired any day now and he simply doesn’t care (although he was not entirely adequate before).
I agree with it as well. Criticizing him in this way could help his performance to get worse too. He is their biggest goal source at the moment so they wouldn't like this to happen even a bit.  Sad

In addition there is some fresh news about Tuchel's future at Bayern Munich. According to the news published on Flashscore, Bayern Munich are about to part ways with Tuchel officially at the end of the season. I must admit I'm not surprised at all. After the recent poor results and their losing a significant portion of their chance for the Bundesliga title his seat started to be under threat. But I thought they would wait until things get clear before making such announcement.

The announcement that he will be fired has already been made. As I understand it, they simply re-signed the contract (in the direction of reduction) and now, under the new contract, Tuchel is the head coach until the summer of 2024. This is something like a gentleman's agreement to separate without a scandal and paying a full penalty for premature termination of the contract.
The question is whether Tuchel will last until the summer or not, a couple more (or maybe one) unsuccessful games and he will be paid a penalty on a new contract and fired.
684  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 22, 2024, 03:43:43 PM
I would clarify that Nagelsmann did not leave at the end of the season, but at the very height of it, and by the way, technically at that moment Bayern continued to claim the most important titles - the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
A similar thing can (and should) happen to Tuchel. Everything is bad in Bavaria and something needs to be changed before it’s too late. I don't understand why wait until summer.
As for his plans, they say that he will return to England - either to Liverpool, or to United, or to the England national team.
~You shouldn't have to wait until the summer to replace a new coach, but maybe Bayern Munich wants to solve this problem with Thomas Tuchel. At least Thomas Tuchel also has responsibility for the remainder of the season as a form of apology for giving bad results to the team from the German capital. Considering the current and very complicated situation, I predict that Thomas Tuchel will go to Liverpool and Xabi Alonso will go to Bayern Munich next season. It was not as previously expected that Xabi Alonso was so strongly nominated as a replacement for Jurgen Kloop.

I would have no doubt that "we can wait until the summer" as in the case of Xavi for a change of coach, but Tuchel reportedly has conflicts with the players and a whole group of six players want him to be sacked (I don't think they want to wait haha). If the contradictions have reached such a scale, then this is unlikely to lead to a healthy environment in the club, rather the opposite, and this is an additional factor that worsens the results. Now Bayern have at least the Champions League where they have chances “like everyone else,” but it seems to me that if they leave Tuchel until the summer, then these chances will be worse.
685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: February 22, 2024, 03:35:21 PM
You talk as if competition from other clubs does not exist at all. In a non-competitive environment you can develop like this in a parabolic fashion, but in reality it doesn’t work. Every season one of the ordinary clubs takes off, but the most difficult task is not to continue to progress, but to at least maintain what has already been achieved. Look at Union Berlin, look at Newcastle. The same thing will happen to Girona next season, I am 90% sure of it.

Newcastle is a different story than Union Berlin by miles and miles and miles. They are playing in the Premier League and even an investor doesn't guarantee that they can out of nowhere compete with Manchester City and Liverpool and yet they are 8th in the Premier League at the moment and I don't deem their drop in performance that significant. It is clearly a drop, but not comparable to Union Berlin.

Girona is owned by Guariola's brother in part at least and they have an investor group backing them up. I am not sure what they are going to do at the end of the season and especially during the transfer period, but I don't see a 90% chance that they would end up like Union Berlin. You provided quite a stretch as to how much a club can drop from the previous season.

Well... Newcastle are now competing not with City and Liverpool, but with Brighton, West Ham, Chelsea and Wolverhampton. The Union is not currently fighting for anything at all and it may seem that there is a big difference between these two “paths,” but I meant the main fact: it is more difficult to hold on than to take off once.
I don't guarantee that Girona will fall to 16th or 6th place, but I am sure that their results next season will be worse than this one.
If you think I'm exaggerating, then firstly, let's just wait for next season, and secondly, let's look at one more club: Napoli. Napoli is a member of the Big Four, but even they, as it turns out, are not immune from such a deep fall after success. Girona, compared to them, are simply noname to think that this cannot happen to them.

In recent days there has been a lot of bad news from the coaches and now it is Thomas Tuchel's turn to reportedly leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. As we know, as coach of Bayern Munich, replacing Julian Nagelsmann at the end of last season meant that he was unable to provide more expectations for the club and he was aware that the peak of defeat he had recently made his fate even more threatened as coach of Bayern Munich. This agreement has been discussed well by both parties and this will be Thomas Tuchel's last season managing Bayern Munich.

I think it is only natural that a decision must be taken immediately, especially since pressure from various parties such as players and fans is definitely the basis for this agreement for separation. We can only hope that Bayern Munich can find the right coach next season and to be honest, we are quite sad to hear the news of Thomas Tuchel's departure at the end of the season. But however, everyone has to move on and maybe this season Bayern Munich's chances of winning the title are getting slimmer after experiencing bad results in all competitions.

Anyway, where is Thomas Tuchel's next destination for next season? is it possible he will return to the EPL?

I would clarify that Nagelsmann did not leave at the end of the season, but at the very height of it, and by the way, technically at that moment Bayern continued to claim the most important titles - the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

Girona will be going to UCL next season, a good amount of money for them, considering they have one of the greatest scouting networks in the world working for them, they could use that money to buy some very good players. The money is not paid until the half of the season, so they will prepay for everything and get paid later on, but they will have that money coming for them. Look at how much they spent to build this team, not even remotely close to what they are going to gain from this.

Being in top four of la liga and being in the group stages of UCL as well, means at least 50, maybe even 60-70 million euros to their account, if they built such a good team for much less, then with this money they can (or should) get even better.

You talk as if competition from other clubs does not exist at all. In a non-competitive environment you can develop like this in a parabolic fashion, but in reality it doesn’t work. It is noteworthy that no one dared to bet on Bayern losing points - everyone was confident not only that Bayern would not lose, but that they would win.
I think in the next round many will choose a draw in the Bayern - Leipzig game since the club is collapsing and, according to leaks, Tuchel has already been fired. Perhaps the players (again, according to leaks, he quarreled with almost everyone) will help him leave even before the management finds a suitable replacement.
Despite how bad Bayern is looking, it was difficult to go against them when you see their recent results with Bochum like 7:0. Leipzig is already different level. Problem that they're not doing very well too.

German Bild publishes a leak according to which 6 Bayern players want Tuchel to be fired, these are: Kimmich (absolutely not surprising), Muller, Goretzka, Ligt, Tel and Gnabry. If we combine this information with the previous leak, then in my opinion the likelihood that Bayern will lose points again is too high. The nuance is that there are players in the team who support Tuchel, but when there is such a split in the team, things can hardly go well. And if a group of those who want to lose the coach take some action on purpose (play poorly), then there is no chance at all.
690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 21, 2024, 06:07:49 PM
After this round, analysts sharply increased Bayer's chances of winning the title - from 66 to 89 percent. Bayern now has just under 11%. It is quite logical with such a huge advantage that Bayer now has.
They say that if Bayern loses to Leipzig, Tuchel will be fired without even waiting for the summer.
Today I read his words about Kane: “in training he is great, it’s a pity that we rarely see this in official games” and I had a question - what the hell is in this idiot’s head?
What is Tuchel really talking about? What is he expecting more from Kane? He is already the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 25 goals in 22 games. What can he do more than that?

Tuchel should focus on how he can improve the team performance right now. Because honestly Kane is currently the best performing player already but only his being good isn't enough. The point gap is getting bigger and bigger in time. While Leverkusen are having a wonderful time with Xabi Alonso Bayern Munich are just getting far away from the title by each week. I won't be surprised if Tuchel gets sacked in case of not being champion.

This was at a press conference before the game with Bochum, here is the exact quote:

Quote
"Harry takes care of himself. He doesn't need me. He's not happy with the connection in games. Neither are we. I've rarely seen such a discrepancy between training and matches. The way he scores in training, the way he puts his chances away - it's incredible. It's world class. But then we rarely find him in matches. He acts like a captain. Everything's okay with him."
https://fcbayern.com/en/news/2024/02/live-blog-thomas-tuchel-press-conference-before-bundesliga-away-game-at-bochum

They say he has a lot of conflicts with players, and it's not hard to understand why  Grin
Even if Kane was bad, there is no point in publicly criticizing the player, the coach should help him progress. I just don’t know what Tuchel is thinking. Maybe he will be fired any day now and he simply doesn’t care (although he was not entirely adequate before).

I also find the BTTS quotes in the Inter - Atletico game strange: 2.0. Taking into account the fact that Atletico scores a lot and concedes a lot, I thought that they would be much more modest, like 1.6-1.8.
I couldn't resist from making BTTS bet, but got burned. Atletico games is high scoring one's, but mostly in La Liga against mediacore teams. When it comes to CL, today we saw most typical Atletico under Simeone. Though, their defence wasn't great at all, Inter and Arnautovic just wasted chances and only scored once.

Yes, the bookmakers were right again (although it was 50/50 and could have worked out well), but I don't think Atletico are that bad. Inter gained a slight advantage and it will be difficult for them away. Initially, the quotes suggested a more confident victory for Inter, but they missed several of their chances, but as they say, “the score is on the scoreboard.”

Well, I think we have a consensus then that Mbappé will play for Real Madrid, right!?

The question now is: What will your shirt number be? Cool

Since the beginning of the season, Vini Jr. started wearing the emblematic number 7 shirt at Real Madrid and I believe that perhaps he wants that same number that he already wore at PSG, what do you think?

But, in order not to create a fight with Vini, Mbappé could also choose number 9 or 10.... The number 7 has great weight as it was worn by Raúl and Cristiano Ronaldo while the number 9 shirt has been free since Benzema's departure. However, Endrick also arrives at Real Madrid in the middle of 2024 and can claim the number. Number 10, currently used by Modric, could be free from the end of the season.

My "bet" is still number 7.

Easy 9 or 10. Modric is a pensioner, and it’s too early for Endrik to choose a number. As for Mbappe, I think he doesn’t care about the number since his ambitions extend much further. There is no problem for him to play under a different number for several years (or even many years), if I remember correctly Ronaldo also did not immediately put on the Real Madrid jersey with number 7.
It would be interesting to discuss what number someone would have if Haaland ended up in Real Madrid, but unfortunately this option is excluded.
693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: February 21, 2024, 03:03:28 PM
I am more impressed that the first three places are occupied by clubs from the Premier League, in the top ten there are 6 clubs from the Premier League, and in the top twenty there are 9. It turns out that the 9th club in the Premier League has more money than most other teams in the world! The Premier League is a real Super League now.
That is why other clubs who are thinking about the future are trying to organize their own Super League, because otherwise the Premier League will simply destroy everyone.

I thought this for a while now because the Premier League has financially been the strongest for many years, haven't they? I think so. But it is not the case that their financial power reflects their success in European competitions. If I am not mistaken here it is still the Spanish league that leads by far at least for the last decade or so. Some clubs from other leagues will still have a word to say, but yes there is no doubt about what you said. The Premier League clubs are all rich due to their broadcasting contracts. But it doesn't feel like they would always have the upper hand.

But maybe this could snowball at some point although it may be balanced out by external investors. There is value in building another league when one league is already dominating the European and the global market. See Girona as an example. I guess that's a club in the making by the City Football Group.

I am surprised though that there is not yet another financial heavy weight in Ligue 1 although Monaco isn't exactly poor. Wink

The problem with the Premier League is that with all their machinations, the clubs spend more than they earn (plus the Saudis had a strong influence, who blew up the transfer market). Roughly speaking, there are too many rich clubs, but there are few places at the top (and there are also only 4 tickets to the Champions League). Clubs are forced to spend more in order not to fall, but others are also forced to spend more. As a result, spending has nothing to do with income, it’s just a death race when in the end everything will burst.
694  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: February 21, 2024, 02:46:23 PM
Inter Milan's Agg 1 goal advantage cannot be used as a big capital to look forward to the second leg which will be played at home to Atlético Madrid.
There is a very big possibility for Atlético Madrid to turn things around.

In the first leg match, Inter Milan's performance was not optimal, there were many opportunities that the Inter Milan players were unable to take advantage of and this was quite detrimental for them.
All teams will show or give their best in the second leg, and with the quality of the two teams being almost the same, the competition will be very fierce. Regarding Agg 1 goal behind, I don't think it will be a significant problem for Atlético Madrid.

I think so too. I start from the assumption that a big team (Atlético is undoubtedly one) should score at least one goal in two games against any opponent. Therefore, Inter's 1 goal advantage is good, but definitely not enough. Plus, in Atlético's favor is the fact that now goals scored away are equal to goals scored at home, so even if Atlético wins the home game 2-1, there will be equality, not an advantage for Inter (as under the old rules).

Before the game, PSV were the favorites, but Dortmund opened the scoring first and live odds are as follows:

4.41 - 3.63 - 1.79

For some reason, it seems to me that given the instability of Dortmund, it is worth taking a risk and betting on PSV, the odds of 4.41 fully compensate for the risk + there is a lot of time until the end of the game.
The parallel game is still 0-0, and if it were that old Atlético I would have expected the game to end like that. But today is definitely not the case.

And what is most surprising is that it is in first place with Chelsea. Meanwhile, with expenditure like that, Chelsea's performance and achievements are currently very poor. This really seems like a worthless expenditure. As for PSG, there is no doubt that this club really has no problems at all with money. So actually they can buy anyone at a very high price, but it will depend on whether the player is in the French league or not.

In fact, these are approximate figures and it is difficult to say who is in first place, Chelsea or City. For example, when Mancini coached City he received two salaries - one at City and the other at Al Jazeera as an advisor, and his advisor salary was higher than his City coaching salary  Grin I think there is no need to clarify that both City and Al-Jazeera belong to the same person - Sheikh Mansour?
This is an obvious financial fraud (of which there were hundreds), so these official statistics are incorrect, but you can see an approximate trend in it.

Can't speculate with Zidane future will be Bayern Munich manager or not because he was reject many top teams offer and more prefer spend his time with family, after leaving Real Madrid since 2021 Zidane never got deal with any other team for signing him. Manchester United almost close for signing him but Zidane seems not happy with England culture and he can't adapt well with England language.
I doubt with Bayer Munich manager approach will make Zidane acceptable their offering after bad result under Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich's management ty to sign Zidane.
Payment salary seems not problem for Zidane, he can earn higher salary by accepting Saudi Pro League team offer but he most waiting the best time return to be football manager.

Personally, it seems to me that if Bayern does not wait until Klopp rests for a year (which seems unlikely given the fact that under Tuchel the team is not progressing at all, but rather the opposite), then Zidane is the ideal option. Firstly, the Bundesliga title is practically guaranteed (it is unlikely that Bayer will repeat its phenomenal undefeated streak next year, because Xabi will most likely leave for another top club), which will allow Zidane to concentrate on the Champions League. Secondly, Bayern have already moved away from their “buy cheap or sign for free” stereotype and recognized this approach as outdated, which suggests that Zidane will be able to get a couple of top reinforcements for the already existing team roster.
699  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 20, 2024, 08:11:40 PM
It can't be just Tuchel's fault, I do agree that he is not managing the team all that great but at the same time I believe that the players are not as good as they used to be AND they have injury issues. When you give a manager a team that is getting older and not playing as well as they used to, and a lot of injured players then the manager could do only so much during the same period. He had just a few bad games in a row, rest of the season he was fine.

I am not here to defend Tuchel and say that he is an amazing manager, he is alright, should he be fired and get a new and hopefully better manager? Sure, that could help if they can find someone better than him, that's not the point, they need to change players as well, and even with same players, without injury, they could do better.

Of the players, I only see Neuer as a problem (and maybe another defender is needed). Are you saying that Bayern's squad is not good enough to dominate the Bundesliga? But then you will have to look at other teams and see that things are even worse there (even in Bayer). So it turns out that the head coach makes the difference and he is responsible for Bayern’s failures.
In addition, I think you heard that Tuchel has tensions/conflicts with many players, this probably also affects the game, right?

^ I'm going BVB on this one. They're the underdog, suits them, and it makes sense given their recent troubles in domestic league but they're up against a team that probably plays to their best traits. Lots of open space, eagerness to attack, it's classic BVB enabler. Even without all that understanding, the odds speak for themselves as Igebotz says. I'm in big on them.

Not as big as I am on Atleti though! Screw Inter, tonight the underdogs must win and save UCL. (haha)

Grin Who would doubt. Were there days when you thought differently?  Wink
To be honest, Dortmund's odds look lopsided, I also have a feeling that they are underestimated, if I were making a money bet, I would bet on them. But today it’s hard for me to take risks or look for additional arguments for risk, so I will believe the bookmakers.
I also find the BTTS quotes in the Inter - Atletico game strange: 2.0. Taking into account the fact that Atletico scores a lot and concedes a lot, I thought that they would be much more modest, like 1.6-1.8.
