Napoli's situation will heat up again because they are currently considering sacking Walter Mazzari ahead of the Champions League match against Barcelona which will take place in a few days. It seems that Napoli can no longer be patient with the bad results produced by coach Walter Mazzari and they took quick action before it was too late.

The Slovak national team coach, Francesco Calzona, will be Napoli's new coach for the remainder of this season and together with Marek Hamsik, who was a former Napoli player a decade ago, he will play a role on the coaching staff for Napoli. I think Napoli have made the right decision and although we don't yet know what the quality of Francesco Calzona will be as the new coach, it is better than putting responsibility on Walter Mazzari who continues to bring Napoli down the standings every week.

Source: https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1759357517459505216

A bold decision, but on the other hand, they have nothing to lose and the only chance to make the season not such a failure is to reach the Champions League as far as possible. Probably in this situation, dismissing the head coach is the best way to shake up the team.
In general, Napoli - Barcelona is a very interesting pair because both clubs are in crisis, both clubs took away their coaches (Xavi leaves in the summer) but they are still in the Champions League playoffs and have some chances.

When Roma was coached by Mourinho I thought Feyenoord would win because Mourinho couldn't develop his performance and Roma's game became better. But after the coaching chair was taken over by Rossi and seeing their last few matches, I also think the chances are 50:50. I slightly favor Roma because of the positive results they got with De Rossi. I bet on Roma winning in the second leg.

Under Mourinho the results were normal, all teams have slumps (look at Bayern, Juventus and even City this season) and it is strange to expect consistently high results from an average team like Roma. I think Mourinho was sacked too early, he could have improved the situation by the end of the season.
As for the current results, it’s too early to draw conclusions - there were 3 games with notorious outsiders and 1 game with Inter - was anyone surprised by the results of these games or can anyone say that under Mourinho they would have been worse?

If you lose the bet against Leverkusen it is still understandable, but if you lose the bet against Bochum it is unforgivable and I think the bettors are very angry with Bayern Munich's current performance. They certainly spent quite a bit on betting on this match and from the start they were sure that this would be an easy win for Bayern Munich even though it was an away game. But the results were not as expected and Bayern Muchen was humiliated by a weak team like Bochum.

The match ended with a score of 3-2 and this was like a big match and Bayern Munich did not reflect at all as a team in the title race. Upamecano again harmed Bayern Munich by getting a red card even though previously in the Champions League against Lazio he also got a red card. Two red cards in different competitions were clearly very detrimental for Upamecano. Now Tuchel is in the spotlight again because the gap has increased to 8 points from Leverkusen and many parties have cornered him after the match ended.

I bet that a lot of multi-bets burned out yesterday because few people could believe that Bayern would lose for the third time in a row and added this outcome as “reliable” to their multi-bets  Grin
By the way, Kane broke Haaland's record by reaching 25 goals scored in 23 games (Haaland needed 25 games), but the celebration turned out to be sad  Grin

I would say that Portugal has a pretty good attacking line (even if you don’t take Ronaldo into account): Ramos, Leão, Felix. With these players, the attack should solve all the issues. But if you are talking about replacing Ronaldo in terms of “finding exactly the same”, then this is simply ridiculous  Grin Such players appear once every 100 years, maybe more often, but I think you yourself understand the likelihood that such a player will appear again in the Portuguese national team is not very high.

Maybe not once in 100 years, but it is very rare indeed and there is nobody, especially from Portugal who could effectively replace him. I don't like Felix as much as his stats. The thing with Felix is that he is not 20 anymore and I thought that if he becomes an exceptional player, he should be one by now in terms of the goals and assists he has on average per game. From time to time he had a good phase, but then he entirely disappeared for a few weeks again and didn't do much on the pitch. Leão as a wing player can make a big difference for any team, but they do have a decent team in general. Fernandes of course.

They don't have one of these top strikers like France, but this doesn't mean they won't have a chance. Although having Ronaldo during his peak never hurt, but was never enough for them to win a World Cup either Wink

If we sum up his physical characteristics + his insane motivation to play throughout his entire career and even beyond (for most football players, their career ends at 35, but not for Ronaldo), then it’s definitely less than in 100 years  Wink
Felix can replace Ronaldo in midfield (I agree that he is unstable), Ramos can replace Ronaldo as a center forward, and Leao can replace him as a winger... but no one can replace him in all positions at once  Grin
But in general, I believe that Portugal has sufficient variety of players and a qualified coach will have no problem putting together any formation he wants from them. Whether Ronaldo will be here or not is not so important (although of course I would like him to appear at least as a substitute at the next World Cup).
746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: February 19, 2024, 07:20:08 AM
Separate games don’t mean anything, you need to look at the overall statistics and Real is doing well with it - more than two goals scored on average per game.
Yes, the Athletic - Girona game is tomorrow (for me it’s already 15 minutes like today haha, it all depends on the time zone). I hope that this will be an interesting game, but still I am annoyed by such a stretching of the tour over weekdays.
Currently the quotes for this game are as follows:

1.83 - 3.77 - 3.92

As you can see, the bookmakers are almost sure that Girona will lose points in this game.
Tomorrow match will of course be a tough match for Girona because they previously lost against Real Madrid. However, in my opinion, after seeing Girona performance, I think they will succeed in going on to victory in tomorrow match, meaning that Girona will be able to steal 3 points at home to Bilbao. I say that because Girona first defeat of the season was also against Real Madrid but the next match they managed to win. For that reason, I think their performance will be almost the same, namely they will come back to winning ways when they face Bilbao.

Well, for the bookie, of course they are racing against the previous match so the bookie is quite confident that Bilbao will be the winner in tomorrow match. I will take a risk in this match where I will bet on Girona winning because I believe they will appear more impressive in tomorrow match.

I have been following the Girona quotes for a long time and noticed that they gradually began to be quoted worse and worse (and as you can see, the results correspond to this trend). Your right to take the risk (after all, the odds are quite attractive), but I would take into account that Athletic is also not a weak team, they are in 5th place and their goal difference is almost the same as Girona.

The thing is Portugal still has not been able to find a good replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. That is why I think that Ronaldo might play in the next World Cup. If by that time they can find any replacement, maybe it will be different. But until they actually find a good replacement I don't think they have any other options.

Cristiano Ronaldo could have done a lot in the last World Cup as well if he actually got the chance and if women didn't come forward with sexual assault relegation against him. There were a multitude of reasons why he was not given a chance in the last World Cup but his not playing well was not one of them.

I would say that Portugal has a pretty good attacking line (even if you don’t take Ronaldo into account): Ramos, Leão, Felix. With these players, the attack should solve all the issues. Yes, a sad result, and it seemed to me that the teams entered the second half with the thought “a draw is a normal result, so we won’t strain ourselves.”
But paradoxically, this round will most likely be in Real's favor: Girona is playing away against Athletic tomorrow and they are unlikely to win. If Girona does not win, then the number of points between Real and their pursuers will not change (if Girona loses, then Real will even increase its advantage), and the number of games until the end of the tournament has been reduced by one = Real is in an obvious plus.

During the first half of the season, Real Madrid couldn't even get to score a single goal as they played Rayo Vallecano, No? I wasn't expecting too much because i had a good look at it same way.
You see Real Madrid even struggled scoring against Liepzig during the Champions League, that was yet another sign that they'll be against some tough game tonight today.
Maybe the absence of Jude Bellingham has some impacts or effects in the Real Madrid squad. Next season in his absence they can count on other attacking players not like this season.

Girona tommorow? Three points I do not think I'm certain, but you see themselves sharing points? That could possibly be happening.

Separate games don’t mean anything, you need to look at the overall statistics and Real is doing well with it - more than two goals scored on average per game.

I wonder what conclusion we should draw from this story? Maybe buy a durable (in the sense of shock-proof) TV?  Grin
It is obvious that he regrets what happened. The most important thing is that he draw the right conclusions and no longer make such naive bets. It seems to me that even without knowing mathematics, but just having common sense, you can guess that if someone gives you a little money at a time (betting on low odds with a profit of a few percent), then their ultimate goal is to take from you a lot (the whole bet).

How many matches have they been undefeated, it's been a crazy season for them.

I count 22 Bundesliga matches for the 2023/2024 Bundesliga season and Bayer Leverkusen has been unbeaten in almost all of them (4 draws recorded so far).
~

The most interesting thing is that they have no defeats at all this season in all tournaments: 6 wins in the Europa League + 4 wins in the German Cup. If I remember correctly, they had one (or two?) matches left to break the eternal (as it seemed) Bavaria record. Their next 2 games will be with Mainz and Koln, I don’t think that these teams are capable of beating such Bayer.

I can assume that the title quotes should now be somewhere around 1.2 for Bayer and 5.5 for Bayern?
751  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: February 18, 2024, 08:06:29 PM
But Mourinho has set pretty high standards for Roma, don't you think? Mourinho finished 6th in Serie A twice while winning the Conference League and reaching the Europa League final. Now Roma is in the same 6th place, but judging by the gap from 5th (7 points), they are unlikely to be able to rise higher, but they can easily fall lower. And it will be difficult to reach the Europa League final with such strong competitors.
There is a possibility that at the end of the season the club's fans will have serious questions for the management.

Roma has high chances to qualify as they got a draw away and that is precious in such a competition, the chances are on Roma side and I am pretty sure in Italy is all in their hands to beat anyone who they play against including a relatively good Feyenoord but which of course is not at the same level as they used to be like last year when they were Champions.

Of course De Rossi is reaping on what Mourinho has seeded so far and of course to see the merit of De Rossi we need a bit more time yet I think he is in the right way as he is getting relatively good results with Roma so far.

Of course, Roma has good chances (decisive game at home against a weaker opponent), but this is just getting into the 1/8 finals. To repeat Mourinho's achievement, you need to reach the final. Do you understand the complexity of the task? After all, along the way you may come across Liverpool or Bayer or Milan  Grin
And as I already wrote with Mourinho, Roma was consistently in 6th place in Serie A, and now Roma is fighting to stay there. They cannot rise higher, but fall lower is easy. What can be said at the end of the season if Roma ends it worse than under Mourinho (the probability of this is 95% in my opinion).
752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling between the past and nowadays on: February 18, 2024, 08:00:26 PM
We have all noticed the changes that have occurred in gambling over the past years, as gambling in 1990 or before is not the same as it is today due to several factors, including:
-Ease of playing and more casinos.
-Inventing new tools and methods of playing.
-Online gambling and the emergence of easy-to-use applications that support all games.
-The method of advertising has changed, becoming more effective and attracting more players.
-The presence of liquidity due to the increase in the amounts that players bet.
-Provides more profit opportunities..

In your opinion, what are the factors that brought  change in the field of gambling? What is your outlook on it in the future?

You forgot to point out that such an important thing as the mathematical validity of gambling on the part of casinos/bookmakers has changed since those times. Previously, you could often hear stories about how one or another player found a vulnerability in algorithms or quota methods (if we are talking about bookmakers) and was able to earn money (by taking it away from the casino). Now there are also such stories, but they are more likely to concern exploits and hacking (actually theft), players have almost no chance in a fair fight now. With the help of big data, bookmakers have the best analysis possible and ordinary betters cannot beat them.

I don't believe people still have any doubts about where Mbappé will go in the next transfer window.
I know that the lack of a signed contract is a reason to create a lot of rumors, especially because we've already seen a lot of "surprises" happening in the world of football, but I ask honestly: Do you really have any doubts that Mbappé won't play for Real Madrid next season!?
~

After Mbappe has already broken the agreement once, it is quite understandable that many people doubt him.
Today, the head of La Liga, Tebas, made an interesting statement that the best player in the world already plays in La Liga (Bellingham), besides him there is Grinzmann, and the arrival of Mbappe will help La Liga develop faster.
It’s interesting that he called Bellingham the best football player in the world, is this a challenge to Mbappe and an attempt to quarrel potential teammates, or is Tebas simply acting in accordance with the corporate culture: praising his own?
754  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 18, 2024, 07:45:41 PM
I think so too. And to be honest, I don’t understand how it can be possible to even talk about hiring someone in Bavaria “for a short term”. If we are talking about a qualified specialist, then firstly he needs a normal contract and time to make his impact. None of the top specialists (the top Bayern club needs a top specialist) will agree to be a temporary option. Now further: if we are talking about an insufficiently qualified specialist, then why hire him at all? Bavaria is not God knows what, but a serious business, such decisions are unacceptable here.

Actually they have done that before in the past.
Bringing back an former successful coach to fill the gap until the next season, also hopefully achieving goals while doing so and then prepare and search for a new coach for the upcoming season.

They did that with Jupp Heynckes for example in the 17-18 season. They hired him for the remainder of the season after firing Ancelotti. They even wanted to keep him but he preferred to retire finally.

So this idea is definitely not a new or even odd one.

Jupp Heynckes is absolutely not the case. As you correctly noted, he retired, if I remember correctly, he was already around 70 years old and simply due to his age, he could no longer live such an intense life. If not for his age, Bayern would not have hired this idiot (Guardiola) and might have had a couple more trebles in their collection.

Meanwhile, Bayern's disaster continues and after the defeat to Bochum they are already 8 points behind Bayer. I'm afraid to go into news feeds (there is a high probability of getting stuck in a stream of memes)  Grin
755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: February 18, 2024, 05:19:53 PM
In fact, they have no choice because after they lost the title in a head-to-head confrontation (at the moment it looks like this), elimination from Lazio in the 1/8 seems absolutely impossible. And it looks absolutely incredible that if this happens, Tuchel will remain in his place. In fact, Bayern still have almost 3 weeks to get things going, so everything is in their power.
Given Tuchel and the team's history, they've hit a hard spell, but who hasn't? Fans must support them now more than ever. Certainly, Tuchel has made tactical mistakes. But we both know Bayern Munich's quality. They're a team that can achieve the impossible. Three weeks is a lifetime in football, and I'm betting on a turnaround with the second leg home advantage

You've seen it? Bayern recovering when it counts. It's about team spirit, not just Tuchel's methods. Remember that football's volatility makes it exciting. Bayern's loss against Lazio was shocking, but I've learnt not to count them out. They have the skills, drive, and, crucially, home ground in the second leg

I saw approximately the same reasoning on the forums before the game with Bayer  Grin
I already wrote that for me, Bayern’s relegation from Lazio (against the backdrop of failures in the Bundesliga) looks like something unreal, but you can remember the recent season in the Champions League when Bayern were eliminated from Villarreal.
By the way, now, after Bayern scored an early goal, by the end of the first half they are already losing to Bochum 2-1. Does this look as expected?
756  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: February 18, 2024, 05:11:11 PM
I wouldn't want to doubt your predictions because I'm very optimistic about Rossi's strategy, he's got a taste of what it's like to perform in the Europa so I think he will be able to go build up a better strategy to be able to get to fix his team better and positioned for the next leg and hope to get victory much more than they had done in their first attempt.

Rossi has built some kind of confidence around his team and the fans such that they all now believe how well he will be able to get the team to a good position ahead of their next stage in the Europa, if he's able to get his team to pas their current state then the management of Roma will say of a truth they made no mistake in choosing Rossi as the head coach over Mourinho because this has been their desire to get pass this stage in the Europa and to finish at a good position in their domestic league aswell.

But Mourinho has set pretty high standards for Roma, don't you think? Mourinho finished 6th in Serie A twice while winning the Conference League and reaching the Europa League final. Hansi Flick could be a good replacement for Tuchel there is no doubt about that but he would be great for just a short term, not for long term. They still need to get someone who is amazing in that position, someone who would be very tough to beat. I think some top 5 name is deserved. Think about it, in the world of football, are there 5 better than Bayern teams? Real surely, City too, but how many other teams are better than Bayern? Maybe Liverpool now, but not 5 more I know that much.

I don't just see him as a short-term option. Flick's first time at Bayern was the most successful for Bayern in many years. He only gave up the job because he had the chance to become national coach, which then failed completely. The team is undoubtedly good enough to still become national champions and also to compete for the CL title this season. The problem is on the trainer's bench.

I think so too. And to be honest, I don’t understand how it can be possible to even talk about hiring someone in Bavaria “for a short term”. Real Madrid looked like they literally struggled with rayo vallencano, I was expecting to see the whole dominance by real Madrid but it's now sad the they are unable to dominate rather trying to balance the game because Rayo has got a good attacking force and their possession is quite impressive although they are not outplaying Madrid.

Ending the game in a 1-1 draw is something I don't really appreciate because I expected much more from the game , I mean Real Madrid should have used this game as one of such they would have been able to get three points from and further strength their spot at the top of the table but sadly they had to share points and are now six points away from Girona who's directly after them on the table.

Yes, a sad result, and it seemed to me that the teams entered the second half with the thought “a draw is a normal result, so we won’t strain ourselves.”

759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: February 18, 2024, 04:47:30 PM

For the Premier League, this is the norm when the underdog takes points from the favorite, here all the teams are a tough nut to crack (at least 80% of them for sure). But for Chelsea, nothing has really changed - they are in 10th place and remain there. And although they had very slight ups and downs in their results, they spent almost the entire season as a typical team from the middle of the standings.

I watched the game today and Chelsea had some very good chances. If they hadn't completely changed their tactics after the 1-0, they might have even won, but after the first goal they played too defensively. In the second half, City almost exclusively dominated. For me, Chelsea wasn't such an underdog and with the game from the 1st half they could have also been a top 3 team.

At the beginning of the second half, Sterling could have scored a double and then most likely a two-goal advantage for Chelsea would have been enough to bring the game to victory, but at that moment the goalkeeper saved the game. I don’t think that Chelsea changed their tactics in the second half (at least voluntarily), rather City pressured them to the point that they couldn’t even run into a counterattack.
“Playing like in the first half” is impossible all the time. Firstly, as we have seen, City were able to adapt to such tactics, and secondly, with another opponent, the tactics of playing as number two will be ineffective, for example with Everton, Aston Villa or sometimes United. They also like to play like this and if we get such a closed game, it will more likely increase the likelihood of a draw than a victory for Chelsea. I think that Chelsea now deservedly take their place, and I don’t think that they are on the rise or progressing.
760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 18, 2024, 04:37:53 PM
Everything was decided in a personal meeting, it was their last chance, but as the results of all other games show (even if we throw out personal meetings), Juventus are simply weaker.
But it’s still very interesting how Juventus goes through the entire season with one defeat (before the game with Inter) and then immediately two defeats in a row + 2 draws. Inter finished them off  Grin Now Milan have more points (if they beat Monza tomorrow).
Juventus who was at the top of the league table at some point last month is currently 9 points behind league leaders after failing to win any of their last three league games. Today against Verona, I was expecting Massimiliano Allegri's men to win the game and reduce their points difference behind league leaders Inter Milan but unfortunately for them, the best they could do in that game was to get a draw.
With that result, I think Inter Milan are surely gonna win the Italian scudetto at the end of the current season. Juventus who were unable to qualify to play in any European competition this season I think will now settle for a finish in the top four of the league table at the end of the current season

To some extent, this was expected, I wrote about this earlier (although I hoped that Juventus would continue to maintain the intrigue in Serie A) - pay attention to the difference in goals scored and conceded: Juventus has only +21 in 25 games. If you take away the big wins, then roughly speaking there are too few goals left in the remaining games to beat your opponents. Juventus was on the edge and at some point their luck ran out. You can't score 3 points all the time with a minimal advantage and no margin of safety. For comparison, you can take Inter's statistics: +47 for 24 games. No comments needed here.
