Reading the penalties of FFP cases in the EPL, Everton should be ready for a second punishment, and maybe Nottingham Forest too. But the Man City case has no new news that I have received. It seems slow, but apparently the hearing schedule has been set. Maybe even the 114 cases charged make the investigation more complicated. This is the talk of the EPL because Everton could get a second punishment after being deducted 10 points. Everton in the second case was charged with violation of profitability rules.

The conversation now is not about a violation of the FFP from UEFA, but a violation of the rules of profitability and sustainable development from the Premier League. But the essence does not change. Fucking clowns. It looks like Everton and Nottingham will be deducted 6 points each, and the final decision will be made after the end of the season (it turns out that the clubs won’t even know whether they remain in the league or not).
At the same time, the investigation into the City case has been going on since 2009 and for some reason no one can punish them  Grin

Another invention of journalists. But by the way, if I’m not mistaken, there is a possibility that Guardiola will leave after this season, not from City but to retire altogether - it seems in one of the interviews he “promised” to do this if he can repeat the treble.
Regarding Haaland, information has emerged that Real Madrid have already begun to contact his entourage and are still counting on Bellingham to help convince him to move to Madrid.
It would be very interesting if Madrid paid Haaland release clause, because we would see one of the PSG players who always flirts with Florentino become jealous. Of course with Bellingham, Haaland suitability is beyond doubt. Regarding Pep Guardiola, I think this has become an open secret where in the end Man City worries could come true. After all Pep Guardiola  has provided what Man City has never achieved. So there is no burden for him to leave at any time.
~

180 million does not look like a big amount given the way transfers are going now. Even Barcelona bought the old Lewandowski (who had only one year left on his contract) for 60 million. Getting Haaland, who will be in prime for the next 5 years, sounds like an easy choice. And even if Real doesn't make this deal, it's good that such an option exists at all because it puts pressure on Mbappe and ruins his favorite game of "auction for the best striker".

Mourinho has got sacked and Daniele De Rossi has been brought to Roma coach position. But the odds for Roma to win the Europa League title are still the same - 17.00.  Grin

To tell the truth I think it is even more logical now to give Roma a chance for the title by placing a bet on them. Because if De Rossi manages to develop a solid strategy for Roma things can get much better for this team in a short time. Not only here but also in the Serie A. Maybe Roma would make use of more transfers to be better in squad quality as well but they don't have a very big transfer budget as far as I know.

But I think that the current squad is still good enough to be a serious competitor for the title.

Did you expect Roma's chances to increase? On the contrary, I think that Roma now has less chance of succeeding in any tournament and especially where there are playoffs. Roma will play with the same squad until the end of the season, there will be no transfers until the summer. I doubt that Rossi will be able to do anything, as I already wrote, he is just a temporary coach.
Plus, there is information that Mourinho’s departure will entail the departure of Dybala.

Haaland may leave Manchester this summer.

He will have a release clause around 120-150mil and if Guardiola will leave, he will also leave.

Just my 2 cents.
Judging by the content of this post, it simply means that this news isn't a confirmed one but actually a figmentation of imagination and that's I totally disagree with it. Pep Guardiola is still contracted with Manchester City till the end of 2024/25 season and from every accessible report, he's still very much happy with the club so he's definitely not gonna leave the Etihad this summer. Pep Guardiola is rather focused on making sure he wins all the competition that Manchester City are currently involved and if he can possibly do it, it'll simply be a repeat of what he did with the club last season which is winning the UEFA champions league, English Premier League and the English FA Cup.

Erling Haaland is currently injured and is expected to be back to action in less than two weeks from now and when the Norwegian is full fit again, Manchester City will be more strong and competitive than ever

Yep. Another invention of journalists. But by the way, if I’m not mistaken, there is a possibility that Guardiola will leave after this season, not from City but to retire altogether - it seems in one of the interviews he “promised” to do this if he can repeat the treble.

1025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 18, 2024, 01:08:56 PM
Haha, exactly! This could be extremely psychologically unpleasant for Inter players. It turns out that it’s like “we scored 51 points out of 60 possible, scored the most goals, conceded the fewest... but we fall to second place”  Grin It is clear that everything remains in the hands of Inter and they remain leaders in terms of lost points, but such proximity of a competitor can get on your nerves. I think the Inter players are very aware of how they dominate Serie A this season and the fact that someone is keeping up with them can be intimidating (especially a club like Juventus).

Yeah it would be really annoying for Inter players to be overtaken by that.  Grin  But Simone Inzaghi has a really solid chemistry with the team now and the players are believing in themselves completely. It wouldn't take them so long to take their place back from Juventus. I expect to see high-scoring performances from Inter until the end of the season as well.  Smiley

Inter have such a great balance between the scoring productivity and solid defense. They don't concede goals easily which must be another worrying issue for Juventus on the road going to the league title.

Let's see, so far Juventus is gaining points with more difficulty than Inter, but in the end a victory of 5-0 and 2-1 brings the same 3 points.
By the way, in the next round Inter will have a difficult match with Fiorentina and then in Milan there will be a “title game” between Inter and Juventus. So far, Inter is the clear favorite in the race, but if they lose a head-to-head meeting with Juventus, the situation will change. By the way, the season before last Inter was the favorite until the very end but Milan became the champion.
1026  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 18, 2024, 12:57:02 PM
I hope that Arsenal will overtake City and we will find out who will take the title in the fight between Asenal and Liverpool, but I must admit that 5 points is a lot for teams that are fighting for the title. In the Premier League, the champion usually dominates very strongly and very often the percentage of points scored is more than 80%. It turns out that on average the title holder scores 2.4 points per game. To “catch up” a gap of 5 points, you need to play at the maximum (win) 5/0.6 = 8.3 games. It's not so easy in the Premier League.
It is difficult to catch up points in Premier League matches even though it is only 5 points away, Arsenal still have to win strongly and Liverpool or Man City make mistakes with their defeats.
Suppose in this season's title battle between others is Arsenal vs Liverpool then here will choose Liverpool with a clearer opportunity, usually Arsenal always get problems towards the end of the season or say performance decreases due to defeat.

You have to calculate their winning percentage, so now you know enough. Cheesy

Anyway, Arsenal's task in the Premier League is difficult, we never imagined it but maybe the battle will belong to Arsenal.

5 points is a lot for any league, but there is a caveat: it works for the top teams (because they rarely lose points) and for the teams in the basement (because they rarely gain points). In the middle of the table there is a kind of chaos and a team that has even a short successful streak improves its position.
As for this season and City, there is hope because they have a lot of problems and are about like everyone else (tops). By the way, I could be wrong, but the African Cup seems to be more in favor of City.
1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 18, 2024, 12:06:45 PM
I don't think the Barcelona management is thinking of sacking Xavi now. Barcelona will face even bigger problems if they decide to sack Xavi. Barcelona management knows their weaknesses very well. Barcelona is not yet financially stable. Barcelona are not able to spend enough money to build a strong team. So Xavi is yet to add players to the squad of his choice. Since the team is not financially stable yet, Barcelona will face even bigger problems if a new coach is appointed now.

We are not getting good performances from Barcelona's young players. Xavi should now work more with Barcelona's young players. Barcelona will become stronger if the performances of the young players improve.

Yesterday Xavi confirmed in an interview that if he does not win a major title this season, he will leave at the end of the season. He said that in the first season he had the task of second place, in the second season the La Liga title, in the third season he needed to win a major title. It turns out that he indirectly confirmed what was already in the leaks: any two titles for this season (apparently one major = two minor ones like cups). Considering that the Super Cup has already been lost, the choice (and the odds) are slim, so it is likely that Xavi will be sacked at the end of the season.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: January 18, 2024, 11:59:25 AM
Last season, Man City maybe was able to beat both of them. Because last season Ral Madrid and Bayern were not in good enough condition. But this season I think something is different. Because Real Madrid and Bayern this season really look more solid than last season. Meanwhile, Man City has had many problems this season. De Bruyne has also just recovered and has returned to playing and indeed he can immediately return to his best performance. But Haaland hasn't returned yet, but I haven't heard any news about when Haaland will return. Even though there are lots of rumors circulating that Haaland might be able to return at the end of January, I'm still not sure whether he will immediately return to his best performance or not.

De Bruyne can immediately return to his best performance but we still don't know about Haaland. So this season the UCL will probably be fiercer than last season. Unless Haaland returns and remains in good form then Man City's chance of winning the UCL title again could indeed happen again.

Inter Milan is also something to be reckoned with. Because this season Inter Milan also looks stronger than last season. And Serie A clubs are sometimes difficult to predict. And can always make other strong teams overwhelmed when facing them.

Absolutely right. Last season, Real lost to a weak Barcelona, and Bayern practically lost the title to Dortmund (but they couldn’t take it in the last round) and City’s victory in the Champions League against the backdrop of such weakened competitors looked like a freebie. This year Bayern solved their problem with a striker, and although Real Madrid have not solved this problem, they have Bellingham + Vinny who are a nightmare for any defense. Taking into account the fact that now City also has problems with the squad, everyone is in an approximately equal situation, much will depend on the timing of personal meetings. If one team is in the optimal composition and the other is not, then of course this will greatly shift the chances.
1029  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 18, 2024, 11:50:50 AM
In the previous season, Union Berlin's performance was extraordinary, placing themselves in the top 4 positions which led to this season appearing in the champion league competition.
But this season's performance is very bad, occupying a place 1 rank above the relegation zone ranked 15th.
Even though the top player who left was only 1 person Fofana who left for Chelsea but the team's performance could be completely destroyed.

On the other hand, Bayer and Stuttgart were near the relegation zone for a long time last season. This season we can say that everything is back to normal (although if Bayer becomes champion it will be an extraordinary event). By the way, when Leipzig got into the Bundesliga in their first season (the same season when Leicester became the champion of England) they took second place, and then they had a natural setback in results, but now they are consistently at the top of the standings, maybe something something similar will happen to Union over time.

As far as I have been able to observe there is some change in the odds of the title contenders. Bookmakers increased Real Madrid's odds to match Arsenal's odds if I'm not mistaken.  Huh  Because now I see it like Real Madrid and Arsenal share the 3rd position with the odds of 6.50. Maybe it might be different on some other websites as it is like this on my source.

Truthfully I don't believe Arsenal and Real Madrid can be seen like they have an equal chance to win the Champions League title.

I mean Real Madrid are already having a much better season than them. Besides they are the most winning team in this tournament by far.  Smiley

Yes, you are right, here are the quotes I see:

Manchester City 2.82

Fc Bayern Munich 4.90

Arsenal 6.37

Real Madrid 6.37

Paris Saint Germain 12.74

Barcelona Fc 16.66

Month ago they were:

Manchester City 2.82

Fc Bayern Munich 4.90

Real Madrid 6.37

Arsenal 6.86

Paris Saint Germain 12.74

Barcelona Fc 14.70

As you can see, the quotes of the other clubs have not changed, but Arsenal improved their quotes at the expense of Barcelona  Grin
Apparently, the destruction that occurred in the final of the Spanish Super Cup for bookmakers served not as an argument in favor of the fact that Real has become stronger, but as an argument in favor of the fact that Barcelona is still weak.
But the fact that only Asrenal absorbed the points that Barcelona lost is quite funny.
1032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 17, 2024, 08:37:14 PM
I really hope they do not fire Xavi, that dude seems like the perfect candidate for Barcelona's future, and yes it looks like he had a bad season this year, but he is still fighting for a possible second position in the league and it is not unlikely, and he is still trying his best at UCL as well and could go further.

So, it is not like he is doing terrible, plus he won it last year, that was a good result. I agree that the game at super cup final was a humiliation, 4-1 is not that nice, you want to see Barcelona be better, but he is also a given a team that has so much debt, he can't buy all the players he wants, he is building a team basically for free for a team that size. I think it is quite important to keep him long term so that he can do what he wants.

According to leaks, Barcelona will be led by Girona coach Mitchell at the end of the season. In my opinion, all this fits into the general scheme of information (or rumors) that is currently known. Firstly, Barcelona is clearly having a disastrous season. Secondly, they were destroyed by Real Madrid in the Super Cup, which reduced Xavi’s chance of winning 2 trophies in a season (according to leaks, this is exactly the task he was given). He still has three other competitions left and if, miraculously, Xavi suddenly wins the Champions League, then of course he will be forgiven for everything else. Therefore, he was given a chance until the end of the season.
1033  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: January 17, 2024, 05:32:57 PM
Doesn't this apply to Real Madrid or Bayern? Bayern wins the Bundesliga every year and for them this is a routine/norm that they cannot fall below and every year they want to win the Champions League. Real won the Champions League three times in a row and 4 times in 5 years. It is difficult to imagine that at some point they will say “perhaps we have enough.” Each top team strives to win all tournaments in which it participates. As for personal meetings between them, I hope that City will be knocked out earlier and there simply won’t be any  Grin
Of course it applies to both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, i just think what City have achieved in recent years is a little bit more special because i think the EPL is more competitive than the Bundesliga and also the La Liga. Bayern and Real Madrid have such a great history that is a dream to City, but i think the English champions are going to get there someday, the only problem is if Pep decides to leave soon, they would not be able to replace him, there is no manager who is better.

Having said that, i think now that City have won their first CL and the weight of not winning it has been removed from their shoulders, they are even more dangerous, now they play without any pressure and they can dominate the competition like they are doing in England.

City were champions before Pep and will be champions after Pep (of course, unless the League can punish them for 115 FFP violations and send them two divisions down, but I have little faith in this because only Everton can be punished). There is nothing special about him.
As for the pressure, I think this is just a feature of tournaments where there is a playoff stage - there is a lot of randomness. You can very effectively “buy” a round-robin tournament by flooding everything with money (in the long run your investment will outweigh everything else), but in the playoffs everything is possible.
1034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 17, 2024, 05:24:00 PM
Bayern Munich also struggle sometimes just as Leverkusen do. For example Bayern Munich were also able to beat Wolfsburg by only 2-1 a short time ago. Wolfsburg aren't a good season at all you know. Moreover Frankfurt demolished Bayern Munich by 5-1 last month. It was a shocking result for Bayern Munich as well.  Sad

Leverkusen are currently the only team going on without a single loss during the season. 17 games and 14 wins... This is really impressive. I really like Xabi Alonso's team this season and hope to see them maintaining this streak without a loss as long as possible.

Plus they have 6 wins in the Europa League + 3 wins in the German Cup - incredible statistics! I wonder if there are those who bet against them using the Martingale system? I think everyone knows this scheme: when a bet is made against the favorite (or an outsider, there is no difference) and if it does not work, then on the next game a bet is made again against this team and the bet amount is increased so that if the bet wins, you will be in the black for bet 1 and bet 2 in total. If someone bet against Bayer, he was already ruined.
1035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 17, 2024, 05:13:57 PM
Two points is a very insignificant advantage, there are still many games ahead and everything can change. Perhaps we are already accustomed to the fact that City are the leaders of the Premier League, and it is difficult for us to imagine that anyone can break their dominance. It seems Arteta tried to do this, but Arsenal is missing something every time.
For the English league, even a difference of 5 points is still considered very vulnerable or small for  team not to be couped by another team, the English league competition is very competitive and even makes the competition for the championship very difficult to predict even when there are only a few games remaining, this season it looks like we Starting to see several teams starting to rise and try to enter the title race and even now there are 5 teams that are still candidates to win the English League.
Consistency is something that has been missing from Arsenal for a long time and that is why currently Arsenal is starting to return to factory settings and it is difficult to compete at the top of the standings, As an Arsenal fan, I only hope that Arteta can find a solution to Arsenal problems so far and be able to become a strong competitor  to win the EPL trophy.

We probably watched different games. Real were head and shoulders above Barcelona and surpassed them in everything (however, as you wrote about Barcelona’s weak defense and attack - but this is precisely what makes the gigantic difference between the winner and the loser) and it was obvious that Real was not playing at 100% - all these feints in the center of the field from Bellingham and other tricks that we should not see in a serious game. Arajuo was sent off because he lost to Vinny and not because of the referee.
Vinnie, by the way, again confirmed his status as the player who gets fouled more than any other.
I also really liked that after the first goal, Vinnie made a ceremony in Ronaldo’s name - Siuuuu! At the same time, Ronaldo was present at the game and saw this  Cheesy
Congratulations on that, KTChampions. This season Real Madrid are ahead of Barcelona in many ways, but it was completely different last season, and you just have to admit it. This season Barcelona was the loser, while last season Real Madrid was the loser for the same title.  Grin

I don’t see any problem in admitting that Real Madrid lost last season and I did it in this thread. But I see that the facts have hurt you and you want to discuss them a little  Wink Cheesy
Ok!
So:
Last season, despite losing the La Liga title, Real Madrid was more financially successful than Barcelona (Real played one game less than the maximum possible number in the Champions League, and Barcelona was shamefully eliminated in the group stage). Plus, Real has restructured the team and now they have the opportunity (financial) to buy anyone, even Mbappe or Haaland.
Barcelona went all in (leverage and all) and failed. Now it has no titles, no prospects, the possibility of bankruptcy and a weak coach (who, by the way, leaves at the end of the season).

Inter don't have any game to play on this week which means Juventus can take the lead from them temporarily. There is a Lecce - Juventus game at this wekeend. Juventus are obviously highly favourite side to win. Lecce are just a team quite close to relegation zone in points. This doesn't mean Juventus can have some complacency of course.

Juventus need to take every single game of theirs seriously from now on if they aim the league title. Because Inter also don't lose points easily these days. Juventus have improved their performance quite much lately. They have seemed more productive when it comes to goals. They should be victorious here.

Haha, exactly! This could be extremely psychologically unpleasant for Inter players. The clownery continues!  Grin

Winners from Best FIFA Football Awards 2023
The Best FIFA Men's Player - Lionel Messi

https://www.90min.com/posts/the-best-fifa-football-awards-2023-full-winners-list

Seriously? It seems that when he retires, they will create a new nomination “the best among pensioners” and will award it to him every year. What makes what happened especially poignant is the fact that, according to leaks, Haaland was supposed to win, so Messi didn’t even come to the ceremony, and when the winner was announced it was very awkward.
What a shameful, pathetic circus. There is a feeling that this clownery will continue until 2027 (in 2026 they will hold the World Cup and finally bury this PR story that everyone is already tired of).
It’s laughable. I don’t see how Messi who is playing in Inter Miami could win the award. Lionel Messi did not merit the award and was given based on sentiment.  I don’t want to shout robbery but what did Messi achieve within the timeline (19th Dec 2022 - 20th August 2023) under review that makes him merit the award ahead of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe? FIFA should rename the awards to football popularity contest because that is what it is.

The award is given for a year (as the name suggests) and here even more questions arise - a significant part of the time, while Mbappe, Haaland, Bellingham, etc. showed themselves in the game Messi was lying on the beach as Inter Miami flew past the playoffs.
I see from social networks and forums that everyone took this indifferently (ignored) or with irritation. It seems everyone is just used to it and doesn’t really want to discuss these PR perversions.

Haaland may leave Manchester this summer.

He will have a release clause around 120-150mil and if Guardiola will leave, he will also leave.

Just my 2 cents.

Is this your guess or have you heard about such a logical connection somewhere? It seems to me that, on the contrary, Guardiola’s departure will encourage Haaland to stay, even though Haaland plans to play in all the top European championships (I hope except France haha). In my opinion, Guardiola is acting like an asshole towards Haaland - if you have such a star in your team, you have to praise him, it's just business. But Guardiola, while praising Haaland, does not forget to remind that he considers Messi the best  Grin What an idiot.

Even though Roma performance in Serie A is not as consistent as expected, Mourinho influence is still very big when Roma plays in European competitions. I also feel the same way, Roma progress in the Europa League will soon end because they are currently being evaluated after Mourinho departure. Roma immediately appointed De Rossi as the new coach after firing Mourinho, but it seems that Roma is not too sure about their decision to appoint De Rossi as Jose Mourinho replacement coach. He is only contracted until June and his coaching capacity is still poor in experience.

Rossi is a transitional coach, a temporary option. As I understand it, Mourinho was fired urgently, so Roma did not have time to find a replacement (plus it is unlikely that a serious coach will coach Roma right now in the middle of the season with unclear prospects but a high level of expectations) and they will be looking for a coach by the summer to coach Roma for next season.
By the way, I haven’t read it in the news yet, but I remember that after his dismissal from United, Mourinho was in the lead in the amount of money he earned from breaking contracts early  Grin Probably now he put the compensation in his pocket and became free for a new contract.
