k9quaint, you, once again, are apparently too dense to understand the difference between being wrong and "misrepresentation."  Since you're unable to even differentiate between two very simple words, we really don't have much to discuss.  I recommend trying to learn basic English before trying to debate me.  You're pathetic it at.

But lets look at the BFL clown crew:  Tom is a scammer, no surprise there.  BitcoinINV, another scammer... no surprise there. CreativeX is still around trolling, as is Syke. Cedivad and Abracadabra have a BFL order now, shocker.  ElectricMusic has stopped? He drops in to troll now and again, but I've had him on ignore for a long time.  Abracadabra... yep BFL order.  That leaves SolarSilver.

Let's tally:

9 BFL clown crew total.
2 Scammers
2 BFL converts
4 Trolls still trollin' hard
1 MIA (SolarSilver)

So yeah... 44% still trolling, 22% BFL, 22% scammers and 11% Other. Gonna go with: k9quaint: FAIL

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I've been watching with quite a bit of interest, and I must confess, a high degree of amusement.

Inaba, I haven't been around long enough to know you or your history well enough, so this is a bit of a disclaimer. I chose this post because of one particular statement, rather than to be personal. It applies in varying degrees to everyone involved in this brawl. Yes, I said BRAWL.

All of you have demonstrated, damn near in textbook fashion, all of the logical fallacies that any debater should know and understand before opening their mouth, let alone laying fingers to the keyboards. While what y'all are doing is entertaining, and sometimes informative, referring to it as debate is disingenuous at best.

If you (collectively) want to at least APPEAR to be debating, I suggest you follow this link and learn something of the art. http://www.csun.edu/~dgw61315/fallacies.html

That being said, I am highly interested in the BFL line of products, and deeply concerned about the troubles of the company. I don't think BFL is a deliberate scam, but the business practices they have demonstrated are deeply troubling. I want to buy a couple of the high end machines, but can't currently justify the risk. I may pre order the little guy just to see what happens, but honestly it's ROI is unlikely to be very good even at that price by the time BFL ships. IF BFL ships.

Those of you who seem to have some inside influence or acquaintance with BFL would be serving your contacts well to put 'em up against a wall and explain basic economics and basic ethical business to them. It's fairly simple. Don't bullshit your customers. If you got a problem, especially on something highly speculative like this, you don't be vague, you TELL those who are invested or thinking about it UP FRONT. Most of us understand. What we don't understand is being obfuscatory. It makes you look like you are being deliberately shady, even if you're just reacting. The truth may hurt, but the rumour mill created by being anything less than honest WILL hurt more.

Any Litecoin interest from the Newbies? Looks like best use for GPU right now.

yep. And feathercoin. I'z a po' boy, so I'm trying to get in as cheap as possible while waiting for ASIC's to come online.

Not sure what's going on for you guys with the no time or time stopped problems. I posted a couple things and went browsing the forum. No problems. I'm new to bitcoin, so I didn't run out of interesting things to read. (still haven't, in fact. Methinks I may  have a new favorite forum!).

4 hours only seems long if you're watching the clock. If you're learning new things, it goes pretty quick.

The address is in the middle of a residential area in one of the not-so-nice buildings. I would be extremely careful.

I doubt that you can simply "source" an ASIC chip and assemble a board with it. The latter step still takes a lot of knowledge. It is unlikely that someone does that in his backyard.

Alternatively, find someone in the forum who lives closeby so they can ring and see who's there...

I simply spoke simply. I realize there is quite a bit involved in this. I have a friend who develops circuit boards for a large memory device manufacturer.

What I meant was that they could source the ASIC chips from someone such as Avalon or ASICminer, design a pcb for them, and assemble it FAR cheaper than if they develop their own, and with significantly lower lead-time.

Bad smell to it! The pics are identical to BFL which has not shipped anything really. A couple of jalapenos to people close to them and that's it. I had ordered from BFL and Avalon and am thankful to have gotten out of BFL and got my money back! I think BFL is over their heads with their project and these people in the UK seem fraudulent! I'd stay away.

Yeah, I noted the similarity as well. The dimensions are a bit larger, and they are brushed aluminum instead of black, but aside from that, look pretty identical.

Being in the USA, I have no real way to check on 'em either. Time will tell, I suppose.

why even have a newbie status?

I haven't seen one Viagra advert since I've been here, that's why...

K.

LOL!

I can't top that answer.

I'm new here, but I've been a BBS'er and forum rat since, oh, about 1976. I have no problem with a "newbie" section. It's an easy twit filter for the admins, and on a popular forum you NEED an easy twit forum. It gets rid of the easy twits. Unfortunately, that doesn't weed out the hardcore twits, but it does cut down the administrative overhead.

And frankly, 5 posts and four hours ain't shit.

Thanks, Y'all. That was pretty much my thought. Too good to be true, probably is too good to be true.

OTH, if they are simply sourcing ASICS and building boards, the price isn't outside the realm of reality. I think I'll take a wait and see attitude.

BFL claims to be shipping, but so far I haven't found anyone other than a couple reviewers who has actually seen one of their machines.

I find Terrahash to be interesting, at least pretty up front about what they're doing, and we know that Avalon chips are real and in production. I'm thinking that's likely the real deal.

Anybody hear or know anything about this company?

http://www.asicrigs.com/

They look interesting, but so far I have gotten no response via email. Granted, it's only been a couple of days.

Newbie on this forum. I'll try not to step on any toes  Wink
