3601  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: MinToRRo Bitmain Antminer Firmware S5 / S7- The Flash one! on: July 11, 2016, 08:32:53 PM
The only way to change the chip voltage is to re-program the PIC in the hash board with a PIC programmer.

If it would be possible to get efficient results with undervolting and underclocking, it would be tempting  Smiley

In March 22 I asked BW.com if they are going for a public release with their miner and this the answer I got, I posted it in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1206056.msg14280444#msg14280444
I was curious about the new miner, so I asked BW about it via e-mail.
And I even got a response pretty quickly.  Smiley

Response:
Yes of course. the general release of the new miner is sure to be, but the timing is not yet known exactly.
Our staffer, who deals with these issues now is not in the office.
as will appear more detailed information about it we will tell you, the main thing that you reminded about it in advance

Original message:
Hi! Is BW going to make a general release of the newest (14nm?) miner like
Bitmain has made with Antminer S7 and Canaan Creative has done with Avalon6?
Seems like it would perform more efficiently than these miners above, which
would be great news for miners.

3603  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BW 14nm Miners Update on: July 11, 2016, 07:41:42 PM
BW.com B11-PLUS
https://www.bw.com/pool/miner

I'm surprised that with the 14nm process it is so less efficient than the S9.
It is more like a competitor for the S7 and the Avalon6.

Of course we must keep in mind that this is not the newest miner from BW.com.
The latest one that I've heard of is BW.com B16, but I haven't seen any pics or detailed specs about it.
All I know that the advertised efficiency for the B16 is 0.149J/GHs.

I got a Pickit 3 from Ebay and did a little tweaking to use a Enermax Revolution 87+ 1000W PSU (from my old S2) with Antminer S7, B9.

Here are the results:
Antminer S7
Hash rate: 4.390Th/s (40min avg)
Voltage setting: 640/670mV
Frequency: 650 Mhz

Power supply: Enermax Revolution 87+ 1000W
Voltage: 227 VAC
Current: 4,9 A
Power (at wall): 1112,3 W
Power (from the 12VDC, approximately, with 0.87 efficiency): 967,701 W

Meter: HT Instruments HT7011, used for both voltage and current measuring

Asking what earnings would be after halving is just a crazy thing to ask just before the halving.
1. It depends on the luck
2. Notice the block reward halving from 25BTC to 12.5BTC
3. It depends on the difficulty

You can only guesstimate the earnings.
Use the calculators that are available and figure it out with your numbers.

See for example https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator

This is good. Luck is good and we are mining strong towards the halving and let's keep it that way even after the halving!  Smiley
3608  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 07, 2016, 03:39:45 PM
Kind of crazy prices for the B6 and B7 when you consider the upcoming block reward halving..

Why is this crazy? Bitmain will try and collect whatever the market will pay for the S9. Until market demand declines, or they have some concrete competition, they'll keep prices as high as they can. The Halving really doesn't figure into their game plan, in my opinion. Find out how many folks will pay $2000 for a miner. When that pool is satisfied, find out how many will pay $1900. Keep rinsing and repeating until you have a new generation.

Bitmain isn't in the business of helping any purchaser to make money, that's the purchaser's responsibility.

Just my thoughts.
Yes.. By crazy I mean't it makes no sense for the buyer.
For Bitmain those prices of course bring a big profit.

Heck, my B2 was ~2050USD incl. shipping

And now with S9 they have stopped giving coupons for loyal customers.

I'm renting and pointing 5PH here for a short period (1 hour).
I also pointed my own miners, excluding Ant S9 (Kano.is) here.
Good Luck!!!
No luck this time  Undecided

I will take a shot on it for the fourth of July.  Waiting for coins to clear.
May the founding fathers be on your side.  Smiley

Does this mean the difficulty went up??
This means that we are just having a bad luck at the moment.
3616  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 30, 2016, 06:14:01 AM
I had nothing but trouble with the new firmware 24th June 2016, so I reverted back to the original firmware 8th June 2016
Board 1 ran with a low hash rate, ~2-3Th/s.
Back to the original firmware and everything is normal.

I have S9 batch 2.
I'm mining at Kano CKPool.

3620  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: June 28, 2016, 06:56:38 PM
PSU is Faulty, Now S7 LN is running contentiously( touch wood  Wink  ) with Seasonic  PSU .
Do Bitmain Provide warranty on PSU supplied with it ,  ?
From Bitmain APW3-12-1600-B2 product page...

That's not the power supply that comes with the S7-LN, it's a Enermax 1000w.  I'm sure it has a warranty, but may not be worth the shipping back to China.
Aargh, sorry, you're right. I read it wrong plus had a brainfart.

Try contacting Enermax and ask them: http://www.enermax.com/home.php?fn=eng/contact_b
