Please start this topic at the altcoin section where it belongs.
Bitcoin mining today is done with ASIC hardware, like for example Antminer S9, AvalonMiner741...

Go to the altcoin section. This is only for Bitcoin related stuff, not litecoin.

Better idea in testing basic mining stuff with a small money budget would be a stick miner or an outdated old miner like Antminer S3.
Sidehack here at the forum has for sale the Gekkoscience 2Pac -stick for example, check him out.

Damn you are so polite. I didn't talk about other mining. I only said that mining with a laptop is a waste of time, which it is. No need to lose your mind because of that. With that attitude I wouldn't put so high hopes in getting help from experienced users.

Ugh, bad thunderstorms, have to shut em down . As you are a SegWit hater, how come are you mining in this pool?

|

Laptop cooling not made for that kind of rough use and this makes no sense at all. Stop asking questions about mining BTC with laptop, you are wasting your and our time.

True, doesn't change the end result though... let's call it a typo Yeah, just wanted to clear it since I see it misunderstood from time to time.

Pricing is everything that comes to hardware these days. I've seen this also at my work as electrician.
Me: this device X is a little better and reliable than the cheaper one but it costs little extra Customer: let's go with the cheaper one

I don't know what is the point of this thread when the OP clearly doesn't want to do the project himself?

I did a quick quote on coinwarz:
SHA-256 Bitmain S9 13000 ghz (13Thz) 1350 watts 15c per kw
vs
SCRYPT Bitmain L3+ 504000 kHz (504Mhz) 800 watts 15c per kw
The results are pretty interesting... based on the prices we're paying here in Australia for power (it's actually .20c per hour taking into account that the calculator is in US dollars)
Scrypt blows SHA256 out of the water... the top 29 coins are all scrypt! BTC comes in at rank 30. Yes I know that this will likely change as the global hashrate and difficulty increases, but on paper it looks like mining scrypt may be fare more profitable.
Have I made an incorrect calculation?
you made no mistake One small mistake, which happens from time to time. It is hash per second, not hertz. Two quite different things. For example: Antminer S9, hash rate 13 Th/s Antminer L3+, hash rate 504 Mh/s https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Hashhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hertz

This might be the lamest scam attempt ever, when it comes to the so-called "products".

How can you say what I won't understand and what I will, you don't know me and my education background.
We will see soon enough with Litecoin, who is right and who is wrong.
|
|

Why is there a lot of people afraid of Segwit? It has proven to be working in the test net. We will soon see it in real use with Litecoin, and then we can all come with our final conclusions on it.
You are just saying that Segwit is a pile of shit but you are not making your point clear at all.
|
|
|
You are only backing your point with some UN declaration (like at least three times in several threads already..) but with nothing other really relevant to back it up. See previous recent discussions and you can understand my concern.
