The autotune batches seem to be a total flop.

I wonder if the software will allow for undervolt and down clock like the a4
Yep, that also raises the question if undervolting and downclocking could lead for a better efficiency. For example if you could run one A7 5000Gh/s, 600W. That would bring us to 0.12Gh/s per watt efficiency.

I wonder if AvalonMiner 741 with more chips could be a little more efficient with efficiency friendly settings. Maybe 7Th/s / 900W ?

Is this a stand-alone miner, or does it need a Pi / PC with BFGMiner?
It needs Raspberry Pi. Cgminer.

Quick question. Whats the average fan speed the S9 does to stay at the temp it needs (I know its ambient temperature dependant)? Also whats the max RPM the fans do?
4300rpm fan and a 6000rpm fan. This question is highly S9 model and ambient temperature etc. dependant. Try to find the sweet spot in your conditions. Thanks HagssFIN. Just trying to work out whether (when I have enough BTC) to buy an S9 or an R4. As its the noise that would drive me crazy. My S7LN fan speed never gets above 1800rpm in an abient of 19-20degreesC. I know the heatsinks are larger so cool more effectively but the S9 or R4 would only be clocked to run at 4TH anyway so im hoping I could get the fan speed down to 1800-2000rom on the S9. Does that sound feasible? Sounds possible depending on your conditions of course. In that situation you should have about 400-500W of heat to dissipate. The problem is that I don't know if that kind of a underclock is possible with the new S9 models. That's why I would spend a little more on an older 11.85th S9 from that Eastshore place and if I find the underclock wouldn't work across three boards I would run just two boards at a freq that would suit. On a side note, thanks for sharing your experience with the eatshore company, as ive said before its the customs fee that would kill it for me so finding that place (although slightly more than buying direct from bitmain will save me money on customs. Np. Yeah my second third S9 is on the way from Eastshore, in international shipment release in Shanghai at the moment (carrier: Fedex).

100 units! If that is true, I hope that they still have some eye for the game to support home miners and take a community group buy with a smaller quantity (like for example 10 units MOQ). edit, found this:https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/cgminer/blob/master/driver-avalon7.h#define AVA7_MM741_ASIC_CNT 22 ...
#define AVA7_DEFAULT_MINER_CNT 4
See this code. There is also a 88x A3212 chip version of the Avalon7. Canaan Creative AvalonMiner 741.

... Maybe, just maybe, the S9 hashes at a rate where the miner destroys itself over time but the new Avalon thunders on forever as the chips don't thrash their own bollox off, hence the lower efficiency. ...
It's the heat that burns down things. You're theory doesn't make sense. Better efficiency is not bad at all in the temp sense. Yes exactly! The S9 runs hard to get the high hash rate, high heat and high breakdowns. Maybe the new Avalon runs smoothly, less heat and less breakdowns. Something along those lines.......... Heat part is right but better efficiency has nothing to do with those kind of problems. That was my point. ---------------------- edit:By the way, I'm surprised that I did guess some specs right in this message September 20 .... so a total of 72x A3212 chips. So 70Gh/s /chip would make it a 5.04Th/s miner 80Gh/s /chip would make it a 5.76Th/s miner 90Gh/s /chip would make it a 6.48Th/s miner 100Gh/s /chip would make it a 7.2Th/s miner. I'm guessing it's a 6-7 Th/s miner. ....

yeah I down with this. note 8 pcie jacks into 900 watts = 112.5 watts a jack.
months ago when they were designing this gear they asked for community suggestions .
I asked for more jacks to end cable meltdowns. They listened and followed my suggestion for this alone I will get some .
Are they cheap no they are not. But cheap would only start a price war.
I rather this price but maybe a little better watts per gh.
I can run 3 with ease on my dual dps 2000 4k boards.
I think my first order will be for 2.
If there is a Moq of 10 I will do a group buy like I did last year.
I'm interested what the price would be for one with a group buy

I have mixed feelings. First I'm happy but then second I'm also a little sad because of the lower efficiency, ROI time and price (compared to previous two things). --> my face right now

Kano.is The luck is always expected to be just 100% in a long run and Kano is usually a bit over that. They also pay tx fees to the miners in Kano.is which is something that some pools don't do.

Is the inductor on the hash board loose / not attached properly? See this picture: In this picture is a S9 hash board, but you should find same kind of a setup in the R4. There has been a problem in several S9's with this component being loose and the miner showing a dead hash board.

I would recommend Eastshore instead of those Ebay sellers. You can buy from them via their web site www.eastshore.xyz or via Aliexpress. With Aliexpress you get a buyer protection like with the Ebay. I've bought one S9 from them directly via their web site and it is running nicely. I just ordered another one and it is on the way to Finland via Fedex. How long was/is delivery? Did they do the customs declaration as they state? Also how did you pay them? Btc or credit card through aliexpress? About a week. Yes. I paid BTC. Bought directly from their web site.

I've got a couple S9s running. One of the boards on one unit keeps slowing down to 2TH/s after a couple hours and needs a restart to be normal again. Not sure what the issue is. Is anyone else seeing this sort of behavior?
I've had similar trouble with S9, batch 2 12.93Th/s. Board 3 was performing low when compared to the two another boards. This was with the stock frequency 600 Mhz. I changed the frequency to 550 Mhz, then let it run for a while and get warm. Board 3 instantly performs better with the 550 Mhz than with the 600 Mhz. Then after a while I change the frequency back to 600 Mhz and it runs okay. Not exactly about 12.93Th/s like it should be but about 12.6Th/s and that is the best it can do. Any frequency past 600 Mhz is a problem for the board 3.
